So, I have build a new cabinet. The motivation behind it was: -I like building stuff, despite not being the most handy person -I was having issues with my previous setup (light leaks, smells and mainly noise!) - gives me a reson to hide in the garage from the mrs and kids. I have completed building the cabinet. Picture below. To get a grow out as fast as possible, along with wanting to try something new - I have chosen to go with autoflowers - 2 jack herer auto and 2 critical autos. -Growing in fabric pots - 2l I think, with freedom farm soil. -Running a 360w LED in the cab. The light is quite powerful, so will have to keep the grow low, as I cant adjust the high any further. - 6 inch fan out to a 4inch carbon filter, that is inside a wooden box (chamber) to help control smell and noise. - additional pc fans x 2, used for some circulation. The seeds are currently germinating - cotton ball style - start time yesterday at 18h00. So lets see if all the girls come to say hello! - will update once there has been some movement. For now - any thoughts on how to tackle this one? - considerations for keeping it low? (Scrog or Lst?) - expected time of harvest? Enough from me or now! Time to fill up the medicaine cabinet again. (The cabinet has an intake that was added since that photo. I am to lazy to get up and take a new photo!) Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk2 points

High All So I think it's time I get myself a pH meter. I grow in soil and never bothered with PH before but I think its time I start looking at it since I have spent a lot of money on my setup and want to do what I can to get the best possible quality. Any recommendations tips or tricks? I know I should get a storage solution with any digital pen. Are the more expensive pens worth it? Thanks1 point

Jamie knows a great deal about organics and has been developing his soil for years. Definitely a commercially available soil to try out1 point

Well done @420SA, you inspired me to move the ac out the tent and duct air into the tent by means of Ducting and duct tape :), creating some more space in my tent. Now I don't know where / how to place the fan because it was standing on the ac. Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk1 point

So if it’s a 10 liter pot and weighs 8kg’s I water her with 2 liters? i just realized my reply made no sense.1 point

I'm also guilty of the finger method of watering my plants, but try wait until your plant is almost totally dry without dying then pick her up and weigh her, so if she's 2kg dry weight feed her with X amount of water/nutes and then weigh her again and you'll have a base line to go by for a feeding schedule going forwards brother.... hope this helps....1 point

They look a little dry to me. You should be able to water them every second day at that size, around 500ml each. Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk1 point

I may just be too hard on the equipment, also 2 grows is hydro where it is used sometimes multiple times a day. They're around R80 on ebay. Took 60 days to get here, but the next new one should be in SA already. Also, 2 grows is a year, probably be more now that it's legal :) Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk1 point

I've had very successful grows using only seagrow. Awesome organic fertilizer, also not very likely your going to nute lock your plants with it. Only issue is it makes your whole room smell like that if used indoors. Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk1 point

Finally got to getting the fan out the way. The fan is bigger than I wouldve liked but couldnt find any smaller. What ways have you guys suspended fans in your tents?1 point

The problem with those general fertilizers are that they're not specifically designed for cannabis. Give it a try on one plant and see how it reacts. You can always flush if you see its not working out. Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk1 point

R900 it works like a charm. It came calibrated when I put it in 7.0 solution it read 7.0. My tap water comes out a 8.3. I watered my plants with 6.5 as they are finishing.1 point

Biobizz fishmix mix for veg and biobizz grow and Bloom for flowering. If you want to save a bit just use the grow instead of fish mix1 point

Perfect thanks for your detailed reply. I have bought half of my stuff from ebay so I'm familiar with importing. I'm so excited to receive my cmh light and propagation tent from the UK today. I'm currently leaning towards an HM PH pen1 point

Hi Dr Green, I went with a similar train of thought when buying a new pH pen. Even when growing in soil I adjust pH and EC in my nutrient solution. A more expensive model in my experience is definitely worth it. I had a cheaper chinese model. The reading was slow, would always bounce around, the calibration would drift off quickly and I could never be certain. I went with a Bluelab model from amazon, including 2x bottles of storage liquid. Import duties and delivery to my door, it cost me R1500. The SA side is delivered by Aramex. Coming from the USA it cleared customs and arrived in little over a week, on their budget shipping option. If you use them, make sure shipping is done by Amazon in the basket, they have the agreement with Aramex and not third parties. Compared to the chinese model, the Bluelab is faster, accurate, calibrates easily and also has a temperature read out. Had mine for almost a year and would get another one just the same if replacing. Be sure to get pH calibration liquid as you should be calibrating at least once a month, most pen calibrate to using pH 4 and 7. Always keep the probe soaked in storage solution.1 point

Hey @Chrislovesdagga , I wont offer a definition of "cannabis culture" here. But I will say this : In the (recent) past, participation in SA "Cannabis culture" involved living a part of your life on the periphery of society and likewise enduring, at best the disapproval of the mainstreamers, and at worst, incarceration. Now with our recent developments, we can hopefully look forward to a future "Cannabis culture" that is more integrated with and tolerated by mainstream society, and free of traditional myths, biases and stigma sometimes incorrectly associated with this plant and its variety of users. -Stinky1 point
