  1. Alright you dinkleberries, update of the current situation. Had to spray my flowering girls as I'm waiting to get some AQ-SF for my girls tomorrow morning to have them sprayed down tomorrow evening. Veg tent is going on with a bunch of clones. Some looking like a dog ate it, some looking like the dog then kotsed it up. Other than that they are moving along. With the tallest girls in the flowering tent currently being the Lemon Diesel and AK the others aren't far behind. I need to add a fan to the bottom of the tent also but need to whip up a lead I can use for that. So far its smooth sailing. Okay bye. Sent from my G3312 using Tapatalk

  2. Cool man. Was considering making my own. My girlfriend would be able to. But I've only been able to find weed gaurd fabric at builders for R200 for a 1m x 10m. Might do that though. What material do you use? And where did you find it? The biobizz will stretch that far? Great news. Think I will go with cannasmiths for beans, they're the most affordable with the royal queen brand, which is my favourite at the moment. Picknmix promo also looking lit at.

  4. Hi there. I'm seriously considering organic soil this round, but next time when I can afford to invest abit more into my growing, Hi there. I'm seriously considering organic soil this round, next season when I can afford to invest abit more into my growing, I'd love to give it a try, it also seems quite daunting and don't want to mess it up and get put off growing all together for my first grow. Please send the links, I would like as much information as possible. Thank you, May I ask what you had to buy, a small list of sorts of what nutrients and growing mediums you had to get for the perlite Coco grow? Are you growing indoor or outdoors?

  6. Hey guys, Completely new to growing. thrown a few seeds around to see what they do in the past, but never followed through. was hoping you guys could give me some advice, I'm planning an outdoor grow for this season, don't plan on investing too much, around R1500. the issue is I'm really unsure of which route I should go. Coco or organic soil. I've been looking into it, and the coco option is really appealing to me, but it seems daunting, and expensive for what i had in mind, and the organic option seems fine, but I'm not aiming for "fine". I made two separate lists for whichever grow I decide on. Coco perlite hortimix a,b and mpk (from hydroponics.co.za) 3x 20l Fabric pots (although I've read around 11l pots are good enough for coco) found a very inexpensive tds and ph meter combo on bid or buy, its the same model the hydro stores stock for around 400. some calmag, ph up & down and then the organics list is not as comprehensive, because I went down the coco rabbit hole. soil (obviously) considering the freedom farms premium blend, or the hydroherb promix organic which is 50l for around R300, but i cant find enough information on the ingredients, also found something called orgasoilux. 3x 20l Fabric pots maybe some perlite? all the potting mixes I've seen, say they feed for s short time, so which nutrients does one add after that period? would some vermicompost do? or would i be better off going for the hortimix combo as it can be used in organic soil too, but then the water has to be ph'd to make it available to the plant. basically I'm really keen on the coco, because I'm looking for quantity and quality bud, but I don't want to invest too much, and be too inexperienced to actually get a good yield, or even worse kill the plants. does anyone use the hortimix a,b and mpk, is it simple? I'm planning on getting some feminized seeds too. the royal gorilla, silver haze and utopic haze. will they do alright in our climate? can anyone suggest some good strains for outdoor container growing? whats the best local seedbank? any that have a no germinating return policy? thinking of going with biltong and buds or cannasmiths, thoughts? any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

  7. I've been to two of the cannapax shops, one on witkoppen and another in northcliff. The service and product at witkoppen was very decent, The other was not up to the same standard, weed was not great. Overall, I don't agree with the business because it does seem dodgy and they seem to be pushing their luck, which might cause new firmer laws in regard to marijuana use, distribution etc. Capitalism trying to get their hands on the weed community. Also found they weren't very knowledgeable as far as even a rough estimation on thc content and cbd, which seems important for a dispensary especially if it is being used to help for pain and other medical ailments.

  8. Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, I saw there was a poll on the local seed banks but a few of the sites were down and some were great. I'm just looking for some variety on a pick n mix batch of about 3 different high thc strains. Feminized. Can anyone suggest any decent places and nice very high the strains? I've been thinking of buying from cannasmiths, biltong n budz or greensmokeroom. Have some nice strains, decent prices and sell individual seeds, Looking at royal gorilla, Jack herer, utopia haze, Durban poison Jackys girl on gsr sounds amazing, a touch out of my price for one seed. Any local strains that are especially good in our climate? Is there anything I should watch out for with any of the local seed banks? Any and all feed back appreciated :)

  13. @Dank i got a mix of 7 coolwhite & 2 warm white led15w, each 1 output is equal to 90w hps 1x 300w full spectrum led (not sure what its output is) 1 x 1200w (output)full spectrum Led(Bestva) and it only draws 254w. 1 x Heatlamp 240w, just to keep temp nice and used for popping seeds. Will be moving heatlamp and 1200w light to budding section once i got plants to move there. Maybe add a few warm white LED’s. Should work nice for budding? 1x1.5x1.5m area i definitely think LED’s will be the way forward. A lot more cost efficient and plants love the full spectrum lights. Reduction in heat. This being said, i have never used other lights though, so there may be a lot of difference in opinion in the regard. Maybe someone who has gone both routes cam give better insight. thanks for this, some very useful tips in ur write-up. Will checkout the links now.

  15. Hi @Oolong83 nice LED mission you got going there which lights are you all using, I have one 50w LED light I am playing around with. One thing is certain LED grown plants seem to use less water and most likely less nutrients I would imagine, don't quote me on this though. I'll link you some resources at the bottom, always best to make up your own opinion about things, but here are my personal recommendations. Q&A: 1. For a indoor setup I would say 18C to 28C would be a nice optimum range for most weed plants, some strains can handle higher and lower temps. 2. I usually just make sure that my soil does not get too hot, roots can suffer and stress if that happens, hardly a issue in a LED growroom I would imagine. I think if you kept soil around 18C to 22C it should be good, if it goes up to 24C or 25C I don't think it will cause stress, but for a optimum setup I would say not much higher than the latter, especially when gardening in containers. 3. I just give room temperature water, of course when it is winter I would recommend not feeding water that is much colder than 16C and for a optimum setup you can have water around 18C - 22C. 4. PPM stands for parts per million. Think about it like this, pure water, RO water, has a very low PPM, lets say 0 - 40 PPM. In the case of 40PPM, that means in there are 40 parts of stuff per million in that water, could be salts, minirals, etc. If the PPM was 0 that would mean there is absolutely no stuff in the water, no minerals etc, just pure H20. This of course is only as accurate as the device you use to measure it with. So in the case of nutrients, more of it you add (salts) the higher the PPM will go as there is more stuff in the water, more parts per million. Do a search online how to convert EC to PPM and visa versa, useful to understand. Hope that helps a bit, here are some resources you can check out. https://www.growweedeasy.com/temperature https://www.growweedeasy.com/ppm https://www.growbarato.net/blog/en/water-temperature-cannabis/

  17. Hey guys, just a few questions plz. i still see some signs of deficiencies on my girls, had a mix up with my soil meter giving the wrong reading for a few days now, so completely fucked up the feedings. Flushed them all yesterday and got ph to 6.1. I have also decided to go with coco/perlite/soil mix. Ive noticed the plants that looks the best and gives almost no kak, are in this mix, as suppose to the ones in coco/perlite/vermiculite. Also takes less watering and feedings, saving sum moola anyhoo, my questions. 1. What is optimal room temp? 2. What is optimal soil temp? 3. When watering, should i slightly heat water(if so, to what temp) or use room temp water? 4. PPM, i know what this is, but still don't really understand it fully and how to monitor that it is correct? im collecting my new ppm meter and ph meter today. Also want to go get that cocomix nutes from hydroshop for R350.

  18. Pretty much the same as your list, but notably an EC meter rather than a TDS one Coco perlite hortimix a,b and mpk (from hydroponics.co.za) calmag pH meter & pH "storage solution" & 4.0+7.0 calibration fluid EC meter (you definitely want EC rather than TDS. TDS calculation can vary from brand to brand, EC is always the same. Most EC meters will also do TDS) pH up & down I'm growing indoors, also using fabric pots (home made though). I'll see how far I get with ~8L ones

  19. Tbh with those pot sizes you'd be able to easily get 2 seasons done with 1L of BioGrow and BioBloom. You honestly don't need that much. You also don't need to feed it every time and even if you do you go in at 1ml a L Sent from my G3312 using Tapatalk

  20. That sounds incredible man. I plan on training, and all that. Will be sure to check in here when the time comes to groom my girls. On the super soil and promix, I have done some research, but I will be sure to check it out. Yeah, buying the FF or similar soil would be R1000 for 120l, I must admit, that dents the budget, plus the biobizz grow and bloom is another R600 for two 1l bottles, which I'm not even sure will do for 3 girls in one season, and don't even get me started on the over priced fabric pots Loving the community. Thanks again my dudes.

  21. I planted in a 40l pot outdoors end December and she still needs to go a few weeks. The whole pot is a thick mass of roots which is why I am planning on trying out 100l pot (the next available size after 40l fabric pot) this coming season. Also, if you are not going to train her and leave her to grow tall, the 40l pot tips over easily. Soil is going to be expensive, you can make your own (Search the forum for "Organic Super Soil and Promix"),would cost you almost the same as freedom farms and from what I have read, better than ff.

  22. Firstly a disclaimer, I'm a new grower only on my second grow. But I've recently switched to coco/perlite and I'm loving it. I think there are different trade offs and there are some very experiend soil & organic growers on this forum that can help you out if you go that route. I'm not sure there is a clear answer one way or the other. Its really going to depend on your interests and goals... If you are interested in coco/perlite I can certainly tell you what is working for me so far and why I prefer it, also have you seen https://cocoforcannabis.com? Quite a lot there, if you are intested shout and I'll send some links etc. Perhaps we'll need a coco/perite thread at some point

  23. I did not pH my water for outside growing. If you plant in September I would go 40l. If you plant end of Desember 20l would be fine. Check out the soil on the 420store. It is good. Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk

  24. thanks a lot guys, I'll go organic. probably freedom farm. are the 40l pots essential? because that would require R1000 worth of potting mix. if it will get me the best results, I definitely willl go that route. Should i also get freedom farms seed starter or can i use a general soil for starting the plants off? also, will i need to keep an eye on the PH once i start using biobizz or can i wing it?

  25. Welcome to the forum. If I was you I would by 3x 40l smart pots. 3 bags of either Freedom Farms/ Organic Matters soil. One bottle of BioBizz Bloom. Find a sunny spot an let the plant grow. Any local seeds will be good for outdoor growing or American seeds like Humboldt seed organisations seeds are good for outdoor growing. If I was a first timer I would not go the hydro/coco route. But the decision is yours. Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk

  28. All dried and ready for the cure. Both plants delivered in excess of 750g each. It has been a pleasure to bring you that are following this log. It is still frightening at times to post to a practically public platform a tiny piece of my passion for plants. I have however realised that as much as this log has been incriminating, it has also been an example of how benign it is to grow cannabis. None of my neighbors bled or died as a result of my plants. I breed pepper plants too and spend more time with them than any other species. The point is. Here it is...the seeds went into soak on the day the Constitutional Court made the verdict, and an entire baby later, yes almost 6 months of veg and just over 3 months of flower, I am consuming my own non criminal cannabis, and this log is proof of where my Cannabis has come from. Start a grow log. Not entirely for our benefit but for your own. This revolution has long gained traction but having a log like this one is powerful, factual evidence that you are growing your own Cannabis and you can fully account since seed/clone. But really...we have had to live in the dark with this forever...Let's show them how we do it like the productive normal people we are. To put costs of this grow into perspective. I spent a total of R200 on fertilizer. My soil mix cost me R400. Water was R30 x 9 months, so R180. For a total of under a grand spent, that works out to about R1 to R1,50 a gram. This changes everything. This improves my life. This, well this! That gives myself and my wife 2g a day until I can grow and harvest again 12 months from now.

  30. The whole situation is very 'interesting'. Because these franchise owners are getting the businesses signed off on by the cops and in some cases the state prosecutors as well. So it's not like they're just opening and hoping for the best, they do have legal paperwork relating to the business. But the fact remains that even the permission they are getting, isn't technically legal. I think it will protect them from local law enforcement for the most part, but I think once the Hawks get a taste of what's going on, shit is going to turn bad very quickly... Both for the businesses and police/prosecutors giving the franchises the go-ahead. I am just not a fan of the way the franchising works... For instance, the Helderberg branch is being opened by two guys who know their shit (Angelos from Mushigoat and Ben from Biltong and Budz), and they have also worked through the police in this. But the difference between a franchise opened by respected guys in the industry and someone with R25k and a dream of getting rich, is going to result in so much different quality between branches. Maybe I'm a bit bias, having chatted with the Helderberg guys, and being so close to it... I'm a bit torn though, because I like the idea of normalizing the concept of cannabis sales, while not really liking the exclusivity in this venture, a bit of a monopoly type vibe. But I can understand why people are wanting to get involved.

  31. Agree 100%... Not trying to bash these guys by any means but if they can do it so should everyone else, if everyone can't do it then these guys should not be allowed to as well. Plain and simple. It's against the law. If a select few are privileged enough to somehow evade that law then things are just gonna get dirtier. There's nothing grey here, selling cannabis is illegal Here's those hotbox episodes.

  32. That Russel guy is shady as fuck, he also runs BMCC, hes basically got people signing up to him giving their personal information to him and what he grows and claims that his co-op will protect growers selling. He has mushigoat seeds in on it as well. Dodgy as fuck. Their claims * The BMCC possesses a section 22 Traditional Healer permit which allows them cultivate, be in possession of and dispense cannabis* The activities of the BMCC do not exploit the "Grey areas" within the legislation but instead they are in compliance with the legislation! * The BMCC may legally contract people to supply cannabis for the co-op and it's members.* The BMCC will remunerate you based on your costs and quality of the product* The BMCC is currently selling cannabis over the counter to it's members in Brits and Oudtshoorn! Not one problem has been encountered from the SAPS as of yet! We will take our fight to the courts if there is any problems!

  33. What if some cop decides that your massive plant is deemed enough to constitute dealing? Some trees can easily yield a kg... I've read that some cops have arrested growers on the basis that 5 plants is too much.... now can just say Starke Ayres says its fine http://www.capetalk.co.za/articles/334800/dagga-home-growing-kits-sold-at-ct-nursery-kicking-off-race-for-biggest-harvest

  35. Have a look at my first journal, I had endless issues and had the same soil as you do from the local hydro shops (Claremont and Kraaifontein). In my opinion they do not cook the soil and merely mix it and sell. I had a total change in the plants once I started using the freedom farms mix and more so from Jamie Garden Shop. My recommendation to you would be to go for either, they are living soils and not that sh1t you have. Try what may I could not get that soil right. Sorry to say but don't ever use that again, rather invest in the above soil and you won't look back. Jamie is well aware of what we are using his soil for and he is a wealth of knowledge. Derrick from Freedom farms 2 as he asked me what strains I'm running lol. Both have awesome by-products also. Have a great day and PM me if your in Cape Town and need so guidance or ask here as there are plenty of Capetonians willing to help. Sent from my ALE-L02 using Tapatalk
