  1. Update: The extra 50W panel of warm white and red does seem to be doing a good job. (Off-camera, on the right). So I think underpowered QB panels on the side is probably a win. The strip light is probably not helping at all though. I think it still has its place in space buckets, but not in bigger areas. Just lacks intensity, and has poor efficiency. Couple of the plants starting to get cloudy trichomes, but still a week or two left for some of them. Just been defoliating any leaf that loses colour, every few days. Will have to work on my defoliation game.

  3. Ok, did some defoliation, and added a panel of 50W of warm white & red side lighting. So, an extra 80W for the last couple weeks. Pistols are starting to redden, so it might have been a bit late for the strip lighting. Can't hurt though.

  4. So this grow has been underway for some time already but I've got all the baby photos so here's a recap. Strain: White Widow (Auto) Freedom Farms soil 200W LED 1.4x1.4m tent About a two weeks from germination. Two weeks later Week 5 - Bottom left plant seems to be suffering from some sort of deficiency Week 6 - Plant bottom left still showing strange symptoms, believe its a genetic mutation or something at this stage Back left still leading the pack since the start! She is the first to show some pistils! Week 8 - all plants showing pre-flowers now, back left is moving fast into flower As you can see, front left is still looking pretty strange, however she's almost as tall as the biggest one ...

  5. I suspect that it's more to manage the voltage or something - I'm no electrical engineer, but I believe these rows are usually wired up in parallel and the red and purple led's might run at slightly different voltages Either way, I think the spread will be fine since im covering a small area and hanging about 60cm above canopy in flower. Ill also be getting another 1 or 2 engineering samples from a buddy who is experimenting with some of osrams new horticultural LED's. So that'll cover the other half of my tent nicely

  6. lol thanks guys! Will see if I can post some pics later today @PsyCLown as in Quantum Board style, though I only say that because I'm not sure how else to classify this type of LED array? It seems the community adopted "Quantum Board" to describe a PCB stacked with a large amount of LED's? Anyways, here is a link to the light I'm using (https://jves.co.za/other-products/led-growlights/cree-led) Perhaps a little pricey but it's produced locally and local is mos Lekker! (Good build quality IMO too) Edit: Apparently I can't spell quantum board...

  9. I also suggest you look at growopz.com which is a local guy in cape town as well as atreumlighting.com I bought myself strips from Atreum and I'm very happy. Atreum has some boards available on amazon too. All these boards are made in the same place in China.

  10. Day 28 Grow is going well, I am making mistakes but learning from them and then just learning in general. I finally got some foldback clips so could start more LST. I have had some issues with my feeding / watering, I did not realize how low the PH was and that caused some of my plants to be a bit unhappy. EM Pro Soil lowers PH very quickly! This has been corrected and I will be PH correcting all feedings going forward, will be aiming for a PH of 6.0 I also noticed some pre-flowering sex pistils showing on my bagseed plant. It confused me at first. haha I trans-potted GSC #2 as she has been unhappy as she drinks too quickly and was seems to have outgrown the pot she was in, I made some instant-transplant pots and so far it seems to have worked very nicely. I guess only time will tell for sure. The 20L fabric pot is quite large, I have some of the Grow Guru ones but am expecting delivery of some Plant Matter fabric pots tomorrow and then want to try get some Bidim and make some square fabric pots to help save space. as the square pots are shaped better and with limited space make quite a difference, annoying nobody stocks square fabric pots locally. I am expecting the 480W LED driver to be ready for collection tomorrow, may only be able to collect on Thursday though - currently I am limited to 180W of power and with the more powerful LED driver I will be able to do the full 480W which the QB's are capable of. My tent is setup and ready, I will move the smaller LED driver and 2x QB288's into the tent for now and then later on may swap it around and use the tent for flowering and the room for veg / clones. I had to pop my 3rd Dauqiari Lime auto seed as the one did not germinate, the auto's are doing well although I may remove them from this thread and start a new thread relating to them as I have different plants for them...

  12. So will the Grow Report page be comparable to Grow Diaries ? If so, will non-members be able to view it as well such as how Grow Diaries works? If so, that is really awesome and I think will help bring more traffic to the site over time.

  13. Go Alibaba route, either R2T or Meiju. Good quality quantum board clones, with legit diodes. I've been running my 4 of their 800 diode boards for close to a year with zero issues. Stay away from companies like NaLite and Ono. The lights look pretty, but the quality is garbage. I just replaced a popped power supply in mine this weekend. Thankfully I had a spare power unit so i have 10 backs ups, but i'll most likely be rebuilding this light and rip out their shit drivers and stick in two mean wells.

  15. For more air bru. The airstones restricts it by a bit and puts out bubbles smaller than skittles Yup they should be fine. You could also get the drop but they are a fucking hassle of note and it's better saving yourself the pain in the ass by getting a cheap pH pen Sent from my G3312 using Tapatalk

  16. Thanks Pat, been too damn long struggling with half measures. Spent way too much money trying to "find a cheaper way" and costing myself time, energy and double the money of doing it properly once off. i think that's why i'm so sensitive to the " just get seagro bro" growers, i was one. granted its not a credit card fuelled all out ,dual plenty seven watt arachnid branded led in a brand new tent,or a mobicred sponsored "grow kit" but it is the absolute best i can do on a cash budget, with no shortcuts taken. (no offence to the kit buyers, just saying this isn't one) Props to a really good friend for all the help, and patience while i plodded through my "i bet i can build this cheaper" phase. Mentality changed somewhere, very glad it did.if i'm doing, this i'm doing this to the best of my ability, with as little redo as possible. lol, thinking back to my bagseed trials years ago, between paranoia, bad growing and cheapy diy everything, i vegged 4 grows before successfully flowering anything
