So making a screen for your green shouldn't cost you an arm and a keg... There are cheaper ways of doing this, but I went with a wood frame for a bit of weight. You can get aluminum angle bar that is pretty cost effective too... But light. Also conduit can be used, but I would use it for smaller nets and more of a sub canopy support and not for canopy support as the plant will lift the net with growth and time if it is not heavy enough. I bought some 38mmx38mmx2m square pine wood from builders... Cost around R50 a length. Bought a packet of screws to put it together... Cost around R50 too Had a spindle of string at home so I was sorted there... But strings not costly either. Okay so I made 45° cuts on my lengths of wood, I made a custom size to fit my grow space exactly. And ended up with enough wood to make a 2nd decent sized screen ... I measured my square sizes and made marks on all the lengths of wood the same. Drilled all the holes for the strings. My square size is 75mm x 75mm I screwed the corners together using 3 screws on each corner. That made up the frame. Then I strung it up making the string fairly taut. Check it out! So begins a new experience for my indoor grows2 points

I can't really give you an exact amount ie g/w, but coming from many years of growing under HID, the results are quite compatible. I find the COBs produce denser buds than the HID did. Big selling point on LEDs for me was the reduction in ambient temperature. I had to run AC with HID, where with LED I almost had to introduce a heater but avoided this by adding more COBs :) Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk2 points

Fyi, both seeds emerged at the same time after 4/5 days from the normal FF soil without a problem. So I'm going to ditch jiffy pellets and keep things simple as possible from now on.2 points

Most of my cobs are off ebay, takes 6 - 10 weeks to get here, but time was going to pass regardless of ordering or not, right? Planning a 700w (220v/12v mix) prototype build this weekend, will post some pics when I'm done. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk2 points

All the talking about this project gave me an itch to start. Discovered that I will need quite a bit more alu than expected, so frame which is also the heatsink will probably cost around R550 by the time I'm done. Cost of 100w COBs: R120 x 4 Cost of 50 12v COBs: R45 x 6 Cost of frame: R550 Cost of 12v fans: R40 x 2 Will post pics as I make progress, but light will be finished and hanging over the weekend. Frame size is 600mm x 300mm 12v fans wil be connected for active cooling. As always, input is welcomed. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk1 point

@highchome I have quite a few books I collected ages ago, which I learnt how to open blast Butane. The process stuck, and I made my own gear to blast small batches. I was challenged to do so and I made one beeg load of oil this year just to see if I could do it. And I did too. So now I have stock for the next bunch of months Never used ethanol before and I am not keen to do alcohol due to its toxicity to the body. I have also been watching lots of YT''s on how these small americano factories push out their crops - amazing. I have now added a vacuum pump to my tool set and I like the product. Will be refining more in the future to get the right cuts of oil processed. Its just that the kit is expensive and it will take time to get there I guess. CO2 rigs are possible, but its very high pressures to deal with. I am of the opinion that BHO is the best cut of the 3 processes and makes the best quality Artisanal oil. do not smoke anymore. appreciate my vape Probably best to ask questions for now - as I am also happy to learn new knowledge I want to learn to preserve the terpenes, which is low temperatures and having a vacuum oven and lots of time.1 point

Quite effing shocking the amount of stupidity and ignorance. What is defined as a ''lab'' and termed ''sopisticated'' doesn't speak well for our educational standards. The part where they ''read up'', really?? - Success is proportional to effort and research plays a big part. Makes me slightly worried.... What would they come up with if they looked in my garage? Maybe something worth mentioning is that I intend on building my own heatsink for the most part anyway using angled and flat alu strips. Experimental, so i will be monitoring the temperature closely for the first few hours. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk1 point

Perhaps a future phase :), for now I'm just trying to get to my targets of 700w for vegging and 2000w for flowering. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk1 point

Cool tube reflectors work well for heat extraction, I mean, that's the point. I would rather, if funds allow, get a normal hood with extraction, cool tubes don't reflect as well as a normal reflector. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk1 point

I'm using crypto Miner coolers, which are too expensive if you don't have faulty miners lying around. Using 100w 22v cobs, I have 10 of them at the moment and got myself quite a few 50w cobs to allow extra coverage. 700w will be for my vegging tent. Here are a few pics of the ones already built, but I want to cover a larger area with a single unit. You can always use a cpu cooler for a single chip, just remember the light spread with cobs are minimal. Results with 4 x 100w cobs. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?url=https://www.420sa.co.za/topic/1802-c99-germination-date-08-jan-2019/&share_tid=1802&share_fid=155892&share_type=t Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk1 point

Would like to see what. Your prototype looks like. I have a 300w led bar I will veg with but will have to get sorted with my flowering lights. Is your cobs also diy? Would like to see some pics of what you using now and how you made them;-)1 point

Give it time, I'm sure it's coming, unless of course, they are paying the right bribes to the right individuals... Speaking of which, anyone know if Haze (ex-420 Cafe) is still operating? If they are, I'm sure their prices must've been adjusted by now. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk1 point

Seem to have bad luck with these Euforia autos, anyway I'll see what they turn out like. Experimenting with germinating two more of them in the same pot. I heard about the competition being beneficial for autos, worth a try, I have loads of those seeds. Straight into FF soil this time, so also testing this "too rich for germination" thing. If anyone wants to let me know how much longer I should let the AK48 (rear-right) go, feel free. Short Rider (rear left) looks like it'll be a while longer.1 point

I believe you should pull them off once they are at max size and are being shaded by the higher better lit leaves. Defoliation helps the plant to direct energy to the new growth instead of maintaining older leaves. And besides old leaves are targets for pests.1 point

So a quick update, the plants are looking much better now! Charlottes Angel #2 has recovered nicely. I have deiced to continue with the LST on the Daquari Lime #1 and it's responding very well and I like the growth it's showing. The Daquari Lime is growing very differently compared to the Charlottes Angel which appears to be bushier and not wanting to grow as tall. Both strains are meant to be Sativa dominant. The next spray will happen on Monday evening if all goes to plan.1 point

Surprised there aren't more pipe smokers... I typically smoke more pipes than bongs, and more bongs than joints. Pipes are quick and easy... Just suck to clean (don't actually suck... Backshot is not fun lol)... It takes time to find a pipe that's right for you... I have about 20 all over here and there.. Different sizes, bowl capacity.. Glass, wood, aluminum, steel... Pipe is great for me on the go, doesn't make my fingers or clothes smell of weed. Bong is the home time luxury... And joints are with friends or when the above are blocked and I'm not lis to clean either1 point
