Hey all, So after speaking to some friends I was intrigued and decided to try and build a Bubble Cloner. I must give credit where credit is due and this mostly stemmed from @CreX I just purchased the stuff and put it together. Not a new concept or anything, however will be nice to have a reference on this website. What is a Bubble Cloner? A bubble cloner is where you have a tub with water and the clones are above the water, the stems never touch the water. You have an airstone (or a few) and the droplets from the bubbles popping spit small amounts of water into the stems of the cuttings. So fairly simple, I found a suitable tub. I did not want the water to be too deep so found something I felt was suitable. It's a 20L tub. Nothing fancy, best to try avoid something where light may leak through as roots are not the biggest fans of light. So best to avoid something transparent. I did not have proper equipment when doing the holes as I was not at my house, so made do to measure as the first few holes were not very straight. Ended up using a cutting board and knife to make the lines / markings to try get some uniformity to the holes. I ended up making the holes with a 38mm hole saw. For the blue discs I used a pool noodle. A bread knife cuts through it easily. I then took a 44mm hole saw and pressed down on it to create some marks and cut them out with scissors - very easy. In terms of light leaks I feel its sufficient. I ran out of pool noodle as I just cut a piece to take with me. I drilled two small holes on the side near the top to fir the tubes for the air through and then there were bubbles! As you can see I used two airstones, bubbles are important! You want to see the bubbles travelling to the corners of the container. I personally used these Tetra airstones, others will work well too. I used a Sobo SB9905 airpump which is dual output at 2x 5.5L/ min apparently and only uses 4.2W I had to clean up my flowering plants so decided to fill up the bubble cloner and test it out. So far this beats using jiffy pellets or soil. As per @CreX's recommendation I am trying to keep things simple, he likes to harden them off for 12 - 24 hours (at most) in plain tap water, so as you take the cutting place it into tap water and ensure the stem is submerged in the water. No humidity dome, just plain tap water with the chlorine and all. You can add rooting hormone on the stems, but not essential. After hardening them off, transfer the cuttings to the bubble cloner which is filled with tap water once again. Straight from the tap with good old chlorine! I put them into my veg area, I am trying without rooting hormone, no kelpak, nutrients, humidity dome. Nothing at all. So far all clones are still looking good. You obviously do not have to do it the same way, I may give it a try later on with a few additives. Perhaps some Trich and/or Kelpak although @CreX has not had as much success when doing so and finds that the stems tend to rot / go soggy more often then. He suspects the chlorine helps to prevent this. Next time I will most likely use rooting hormone as well, I have a gel. The powder may get rinsed off quickly though, probably the gel too. Anyways, hope this helps some people out, so far all is going well and I much prefer this method. I will report back in a few days / weeks giving an update on the rooting. I do not need this many clones, so just doing it to test things out and will be happy to trade them or perhaps toss them. All in all this costs under R500, I know I could have gotten my stuff cheaper from other shops, but I did not feel like driving all over the place. Realistically you could probably have this built for under R300 if you source well priced parts, an added benefit is you will then have an air pump and air stones to make a nice AACT for your plants too!

They've got a lot of "ointments" on that list... I am disappointed to not see any Penis Enlargement creams. I wonder how many of those products are the exact same, with the exception of packaging / branding? I could be wrong though. These guys should not be around if they legally allow for competitors, open up a shop next to them and I am sure people will stop buying from them very quickly. Not hard to beat what they're doing. Well said @highchome I also enjoyed growing in hydro and enjoyed the control. You do feel a little more involved. It took a lot for me to switch over to soil, it really is about letting go. Starting off in hydro had also gotten me used to the cleanliness of hydro. Something you have to sacrifice with soil as it does end up making your grow area/tent a lot more "dirty", in a good way of course. What switched me over to organics was kids. Don't have the time for hydro no more!

The media is clearly targeting those who are strongly anti-drugs and anti-"dagga" to read their articles. They are the only one's who will read it... and us. If they say police raided a persons home and encountered a "cannabis garden" the effect of the story immediately diminishes. They've lost the reader and the advertisers lose out. A lot of people also think cannabis and dagga are 2 different things. They see cannabis as this breakthrough healing plant that they are hearing about on the news but they still see "dagga" as this drug that is ruining our youth. The media capitalizes on that. Also notice how the media will call it cannabis when its an article on medicine but as soon as its found in someone's home its called dagga again. Twats

Nice bru! Okay so I took another look at your setup... You have a few things to do... First will be to either raise all the plants up individually to the net... Or lower the net down over the plants. Personally I would do a bit of both... Some plants can go a bit higher to match the others. Next would be to have about 15cm of plant above the net... You can go even more... But let's start smallish... Then once the net is secure and plants are in the holes... Weave the tops of the plants under the net so that the net holds them... Don't worry, in a few hours all the tops will be pointing toward the light again. At that stage you are all set... Now the work is little... Every few days you just bend the stems under the net again and keep the canopy flat... Once your net is full, then you can flip to flower and reap the buds bro Edit - after the bending... I would lower your light to as close as you can go, making sure you don't lower it too much so the stems on the outskirts don't get light

Day 61 / Day 9 of Flower So I reinforced my tent a bit, not fully done but its something for now. It's helping with the negative pressure and the sides getting sucked into the plants. I did another heavy lollipop / defoliation on the plants, will leave them for now to recover and continue their journey, I should have taken a pic before. Don't be afraid!! That shit happens. It's okay... Your stem just folded, that's perfect.... Leave it for a few days... Bent like it was.... And a huge knuckle will form. Are you still vegging the plants?

Okay so... You can imagine the 200l bin in half... Now imagine drilling a hole at the bottom in the middle. At the open side of the drum, weld a 25mm flat bar across the diameter of the drum, weld a ring on the center of the bar that a bar can fit into, big nut works well, and take a 15mm solid round bar, stick it through the hole at the bottom of the drum... Now you have a spindle for your drum. The frame will have to be at your discretion. The crank though... Is super easy too... I would take a wheel from a trolley or a wheel bin... Fashion a crank and mount it on to the drum, so that when you turn the crank... The wheel rides on the drum and turns it. So I would actually design the drum frame exactly the same as the cement mixer... With the crank in place of the motor

That's the idea yes. Mixing about 40L at a time would be fine so the drum doesn't have to be that big. The crank bit leaves me blank. Wouldn't know where to start or where to look for something like that. I agree an electric motor isn't needed. As long as the bin rotates smoothly.

Not really something I would recommend. Organic nutes like Biobizz are meant to supplement the soils food web and not be a complete feeding solution on its own.

I can give you some ideas if you're keen... It does involve a grinder though... But the end result will work well for your needs

May be time to repot as well. Do you ever flush? If not, could very likely be salt build up. Need to flush your soil more often when using inorganic nutes due to the salt build up. Perhaps give that a try and monitor it then.

i think ima just do it now, seems like the logical way to go to maximize bud.

My fan has 6 speed settings, although RH is becoming an issue so I have been pushing the speed up a bit to try combat that but the carbon filter seems to prevent a lot of the water from being removed easily. I was thinking of getting some metal alu strips, although did not want to struggle cutting them with a hack saw so decided to try the PVC. Already have it, so will purchase some cement to fill them and hope that will work. I'd like to find an easier way to remove the one pole in the front so I can easily remove my plants when need be, cable ties are a bit of a mission not sure velcro will be strong enough either.

To give you an example... I put a few plants under my scrog net. The one plant in particular, was 75cm tall. It is now under the net, flat, and only 42cm tall... The branches bend really well and that plant has responded the best to the net. So the nets not just for support... It's to keep the canopy flat like PsyCLown said. The net you have is more of an outdoor config where high winds can break the stems outdoor and your net will prevent breakage. .. But indoor, stem breaking is much less of an issue, and light penetration and distribution is more of a concern. Do yourself a flavour next round... Scrog and reap

You basically keep bending the branches under the scrog net to try create a flat canopy and once it is even and full you can then let it grow. It can be a method to help create a flat canopy to maximize your space and light. Anything beneath the net would generally get cut / pruned as well. It won't get much light and can help increase airflow by doing so. Also forces the plant to spend more energy on the growth above the net.

They are still on the smaller size yes but taking that stretching in consideration I guess that'll be OK. The other voice is also telling me to hold on and maybe let it veg for another week or so. I reckon anything under a cube you can get away with by hand and shovel unless you have to mix frequently then a cement mixer will help some.

That is it, just the moisture from the plants and soil. Obviously goes up after feeding day. Don't really want to remove the carbon filter due to the smell, so bit of a tricky situation. No space for a dehumidifier either.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy mixing up soil. But that was when I only needed to mix up 40-60L at a time. Ideally I want to mix up a batch of about 200L of soil next which is quite a lot but doesn't really justify renting a mixer. @Bospatrollie2 the challenge is on bru. Show me the way

Let me be the voice of dissent (though there are way more experienced growers here so you should probably rather listen to them...) I think it depends on you, your interests and which tradeoffs you want to make. I've gone with pure coco/perlite & inorganic nutrients and personally I've found that much simpler than the issues I was having with soil. I like having the control and being involved daily, and using the inorganic nutrients is extremely simple. The cost being daily (usually more) waterings and more EC & Ph checks etc, all of which I really enjoy With soil & organics you get a whole other set of things to think about, like how the soil bacteria break down the organics and make it bioavailable for the plants. So if you find that interesting there is so much to learn there. You get less frequent waterings as a benefit etc. Not sure that was helpful

I use the EHG nute mix. I only gave nutes last night for first time last week, they usually get feedings every 6-7 days. I do give a foliar spray every now and then with either kelpak or wonder-soil all purpose mix. Usually around 5ml/lt yes i do PH to 6.2-6.5. all plants are on the same shit, but none show any signs.

I know Fish Mix can be sprayed as foliar spray, but only at 1 - 2ml per liter. Not sure about grow and 3ml sounds a bit high. I'd stop that, reduce the concentration a bit.

A hydroponic lab, WTF. Ultimately it is the money which will probably play one of the bigger roles in putting them behind bars as that amount in cash is not something commonly seen and hard to prove it was not from the weed. I hate the term "dagga", call it what it is! Cannabis. In that one pic it looks like a vacuum pump, so I assume for making BHO and purging the butane. I assume a closed loop system or whatever they're called.

Hawks wanna waste tax payers money to catch weed growers but can't do shit to the cunts stealing the countries money.

I hope the law won't be to hard on them... After all it's just MARY JANE and not tik or heroin.
