  1. Day 107 / Day 55 of Flower A quick update, some pics I took this morning before the lights came on. Tropicana FF: Bruce Banner - I had to rest the branches against the side of the tent as they are falling over: GDP: GSC, some pistils are starting to brown as well: Might as well do an update on my Chocolope if anyone is not following that grow diary. The pistils are also starting to brown:

  3. Quite a few of us yes. Perhaps join the CT club, here: https://www.420sa.co.za/clubs/3-cape-town/ I'm using a Bestva LED that looks pretty much like the 1000W one you posted, that + 2 x 100-100W CFLs and 1 * a 100W LED spot-light (super DIY stuff). I could certainly do with a lot more light, but the results have not been bad so far. If you have no choice I think you'll be ok with what you have for now. I.e. don't stop while you wait for a perfect or even good setup. Perhaps consider going direct to flower for faster turnaround on the first grow, may also be better for less light. Which is not to say that I disagree with anything said above, its very good advice. I not sure I'd have got this LED lamp had I been on the forum longer, though perhaps I'd never have started growing if I had to wait to pay 3* more. Personally I'm also looking at what I need to do to improve my light situation, I'd love a better LED setup. I'm just saying I think you can grow for meds so long while sorting things out. BTW once you get to 30 posts, send a message to @ 420sa and ask to join the seed/clone exchange club. I may have some extra clones in the next few weeks as it happens. So just DM me a reminder if you are interested and I'll see what I can do.

  4. I know! Mystery bagseed, cannot wait to try her out! I may even send some in to be tested to get an idea of her THC percent and consider breeding her with something else later on.

  5. Alright, so some of you saw I ran an experiment with a cutting in a zip lock bag. I left it on the outskirts of my grow and a month later... Boom, I have a root. So here on out I will be nursing her back to health and flowering her and Taking more cuttings... This exact plants mommy is currently busy flowering and wow is she hot!! So stick around to watch this hulk get angry!!!

  6. It's all about the diodes, Samsung make some great ones. Lm561c, lm301b, lm351h are all very popular diodes. Any of those will do fantastic in terms of growing and they all have high efficiency. I wouldn't bother with the CFLs. For clones they're fine, once the plant gets bigger you really want to move away. They're extremely inefficient actually, the power consumed and what the plant gets out of the light isn't great. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

  7. If you purchases it from Takealot recently, you may still be able to return it. If you wanted to, although I'd only consider it if you are planning on upgrading to something better. I look at grow lights more as an investment, quality LED's will last you a long time. They are more efficient and therefore reduce your electricity bill and at the same time will help increase yield, leading to even better efficiency overall. 8. You will 100% get lower yields doing that, but you'll get zero yield not growing in the meantime Perhaps start a grow diary too. I got loads of advice that I think helped me get the most out of what I have. As you say, this is an amazing forum

  10. Soil makes a big difference, although light can make an even bigger difference. You need to try and simulate the sun in a way, not an easy task. If you have shit lights, but the best soil and nutes - your plants will still turn out shit. Without proper lighting your plants cannot produce food for themselves properly. Without proper lights, your plants may struggle with photosynthesis. IMO lights are probably one of the most important pieces of indoor grow equipment, without lights your plants wont flourish and may not even survive. Perhaps drop @CreX a PM regarding his HPS and see if he is still thinking about selling them. Then later on when circumstances are better, you can upgrade to some decent LED's. Alternatively, consider an outdoor grow until you can afford good lights.

  11. Started a batch yesterday and fed the ladies this morning as the tea helps plants recover from stress. We had a big bloody storm, blew for 2 days, nearly lost the grow house. Our plants are looking worse for wear but no serious damage. Busy with a seaweed fertilizer brew, hoping it will be a good addition as well. But still 2mnths to go. Lots of minerals and micro nutes. Cheers Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  17. Evening, Yeah that sounds very similar to what I'm using. Keep us updated on the results please. For PM I'm trying the ph swing- dose with acidic and then alkaline. Only started so jury is still out on efficacy. For nasties with more than 2 legs... Currently using a clove mix. Pretty good results on spidermites thrips and aphids. Cloves, garlic and Italian herbs (rosemary, thyme) with soap as wetting agent. It's cheap to make, pretty safe to use/biodegradable and plants don't suffer. I have used a peppermint oil spray previously, it didn't have the desired effect on mites. The clove and tobacco mix is also pretty good. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  18. Hi, I came across this natural product that grow operations use in the US. Consting of essential oils and a couple of easily obtainable chemicals as seen below. What do you guys think? Have you used essential oils before as pest control and or for mildew? I have mixed a batch and will keep you posted Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk

  19. Flowering Week 8 Today is the start of week 8 flowering for the beautifull ladies. There is not much to report on, humidity levels have improved a little bit, but still very far from a perfect grow. What the ladies do hav going for them is a lotta lotta sugar and very nice aromas indeed. The ChocoNL is interesting with her scents, sometimes almost smelling like a chemdawg, but today is that fruity cereal again. The Blueberry Kush is hard at work pumping out that berry jam resin, so far so good.

  20. Agreed and you are 100% spot for on. And this is where my mission all started. I have learned alot on this forum. I wish I had found it earlier. I think it would have saved my ass from that LED I got. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

  21. If you use it as medicine, it sounds as if it's needed. You have the choice of either growing your own, where you have the ability to grow whatever strain you want and chances are the quality will be far superior to what you would be purchasing. Upfront it may cost a bit more, however will be far cheaper than purchasing all the time and save you money in the long run. The second option is to take the money and buy bud. In the long run it will end up costing more, but will be cheaper short term.

  24. I'd personally rather use the "1000W" light than that 50W COB type of light. Although ultimately, it would be worth while to try and save up and get some decent LEDs. What is your budget? I know @CreX may consider selling his HPS and Nova LED's soon, perhaps you can make a plan with him.

  29. Morning, Glad to see more brewers around...[emoji482] That vortex brewer is pretty cool. Always looking for ideas on teas Got a standard recipe, but have added some stuff. Compost/ewc, molasses, seagrow, moringa powder. Have used oats on the odd occasion. I also add the ''root ball'' of any harvested plant to the mix and let it brew for 24hrs. 33. I was thinking about this thread yesterday while thinking about AACT. I will be starting up my tea brewer (diy project 20L) in a week or so..... Got myself Rock Phosphate and Mycorrhizae yesterday for plants but will use that again along side kelp powder. Last year I added coconut water to a test bucket and gave to plants and no ill effect but no "WTF check that growth" effect either. What other ammendment would you recommend. My current tea recipe is: EWC Mycorrhizae Rock Phosphate Alfalfa Powder FF soil Molasses Is that tea recipe fine or would you adjust. Looking for that extra punch. Or maybe in just to eager Sent from my FIG-LX1 using Tapatalk

Will chuck in some mycorrhizal fungi directly into the res on the day I add tea

  39. @PsyCLown I know it has been a while, not been motivated this cold winter to bond much with the girls. So as of today a year ago this girl sprouted, oh how time goes quick seeing them grow up! September 2018 SO Yah here is her current status, going to be her 4th harvest will be chopping her next week (11 wks flower) and then ill see how much more I got this time. She is dense and collapsing under her own weight I am defs going to have a different strategy next round in how I let her grow. One thing I can tell is that you don't need to warm up your water or room temperature in Cape Town. She hates selfies Below pic. Background is generation 5 of her clones. And in the foreground are bag seed Purple Haze. My friend has some Purple Haze, looked beautiful so I really wanted to give it a try. Peace out

  40. Seedlings are all okay so far.. Set up my new tent this weekend and one of the cups fell over, sheesh!! Luckily no harm done and everything is hunky dory. GSC on the left and Banana Grove on the right. Still zero noticable difference between the soils.

  41. Small update on the little ones! They are all still very happy and all are growing at the same pace in the soils. What I must note, is the just cannabis soil is so loose and let's quite a lot of water pass through almost as soon as iv poured it. My home soil on the other hand, while still let's quite a bit of water pass through it, it seems to drain marginally slower, and stays wet atleast a day longer than the JC soil. But time will tell!

  44. Would like to have a bunch of soils to test! Who knows... One brand might be great for seedlings but shit for other stuff... Likewise another brand could be good for veg but not flower... And yet another that is great for bloom but not veg. Im guessing most will be a general soil that aims to make all 3 grow stages happy... My feeling is if you are transplanting 3 times... Might as well play with the soil you use to Taylor it for the grow stages, like one does with nutes in veg and bloom. I dono... Random stoned thought

  45. Racing starts! This is now my preferred method of germination. Jiffies with tap water in a saucer... Seeds straight into the jiffy... Check water every day... Have joy with success!! Anyways... All 4 seedlings have a taproot out the bottom of the jiffy... High time I transplanted them into their first official homes!!! I went with pink... You know... For girls And used some if my home cooked soil in 2 if the cups... And a just cannabis and perlite mix... Need to see if my soil is any good, and see if the just cannabis soil is any good

  46. So I'm trying my hand at cloning for now I'm just using a ghetto setup with some 1.5l soda bottles. Took 2 clones from the cheese 3 days ago and they still alive. I made 4 holes on top of each dome today and I used honey as I didn't have rooting hormone.
