Stop buying into bullshit organic hype, nitrogen is nitrogen, potassium is potassium.

So the Cops arrested a guy here in durban for have a "Drug Lab". The police state in their report that this guy has been illegally cultivating a stronger form of cannabis in his home known as hydroponic cannabis. They are also charging him for having a box of Viagra under some pharmaceutical act. The photograph of his plants that I saw in the news paper was honestly some small unhealthy plants that were either in dirt or coco. This whole story were cops make things look worse then they are is disappointing and scary at the same time. It makes me think what would they say about my grow room... So the question is How do we protect ourselves from being set-up and arrested when we grow more then what would be regarded as for personal use? If one shares their produce with friends and family and doesn't sell it how does he keep proof of this? I know dealing is illegal so we talking about protecting ourselves when we grow a lot but don't sell

Your protection is your knowledge. Know that you are allowed to cultivate marijuana in private for private use without intention to distribute. You can reasonably argue personal use at roughly two plants per person within a household. This is not law, it is not written down or referred to anywhere in legislation. Two plants per person in a household is just a legal argument one can use once put to the case in court (if you get taken that far). This is somewhat the case in Australia. South African law does take into consideration laws in foreign nations when precedent is being set (especially now in SA while we still wait for the official legislation). Let me emphasize that the law is still yet to be written on private marijuana cultivation. Each situation will be argued on a case to case basis. In other words, the less you look like you're dealing and the more you look like it's for personal use, the better off you will be. Unfortunately then in the case of growing large quantities for yourself, that's the risk my china that is the game you play, and play it well you must.

Agreed. Organic or inorganic nutrients have to be identical for the plant to use it. Organics just needs an extra step as microbes need to eat it convert it and then shit it out for the plant. No3-, K+, and PO4-, SO4 2-, all the same ions no matter where they originate

Hi 420 I have grown a few outdoor plants but never made it to harvest due to garden services, mad dog etc and so decided to try indoor to protect my babies. I soaked the seeds in ph'd declorinated water for 12 hours (they had sank to the bottom) then placed them in the soaked rockwool cubes in a humidity dome and stuck them in the cupboard. After 7 days nothing happened, so I carefully opened up the rockwool to find 1 seed just starting a tap root while the 2nd seed showed no sign change. Contacting GSR they recommended I place the humidity domes in a sunny spot, which I did. It is now 4 days later and the seed that did crack is showing really slow progress (pic 1) while the 2nd seed still hasn't popped. Since this was also my first time using rockwool I suspected that could be the problem. I took 2 more GSR seeds and used my usual technique that I have had great success with bag seed. Soak seeds in ph'd dechlorinated water for 12 hours, place on wet kitchen towel, put in zip lock bag and leave under modem. After 4 days 1 seed has just cracked the shell (pic 2) but once again there is nothing happening with the 2nd seed. Both times it was the north berry gold that showed progress, albeit slow progress. The other strain seems to have no interest in germinating. I am based in Durban so I doubt temperature or humidity could be an issue. Now that you know the story, please point out what I am doing wrong

I hope they don't set the plant limit at 2. Mainly because 2 flavours to carry me till next harvest is not gonna do it. At a minimum give us 4 plants per person. But in saying this I hope legislature is set soon so we carry out our favourite hobby in peace and inline with the law...

Some pitter-patter rain in the area has raised the general humidity quite nicely, sitting above 40% when it's usually at this time below 20%. Ladies look super good. Decided to top the little sister and begin LST on the big sister. An interesting difference between the two plants apart from their size are their own root developments. The little sister sprouted multiple root sites under the net pot where the bigger sister grew a stem from the one small root to the surface of the water and is the site for it's main root development.

What the tits are you on about @nachmanedes? You realise you're thread nechro. You're replying to a 4 year old conversation. Even in E'frika some things change in that time. If you've had a problem with a delivery from hydroponics.co.za, start up a new thread and calmly retype your issue. I assure you'll be taken more seriously and get decent answers then. Hell, maybe you're lucky and an affiliate will even answer you.

Awesome replies ✌ agreed on lighting being more associated to the nature of a grow and not within the realm of organic/non-organic. Here's another question; is bud grown with organic products "healthier" for you? Taste aside, if your feed is overly synthetic, can that translate over to your body in a negative way?

Pretty much... If it's a small pot, a put a bit extra good soil in the hole too... Packed with goodness for a baby Marijuana plant... Then that red sand takes over... I have needed to start feeding the big plants so that yellowing leaves doesn't happen. But yea... They just get dumped into the ground and love it

@PsyCLown products like Terpinator, BudCandy, Ripen, etc and I'm sure TopMax most likely also uses some sort of flavor enhancers. Just to clarify I did not mean it leaves a bad taste in the bud, most OG growers can tell you, depending who grew it with what, it'll have its own distinct taste.

Hahaha, geez ok. This thread has taken more of a turn than I expected. Bringing lights into the equation. The way I see it is that I would classify lighting more as "natural" or "unnatural" as opposed to organic or inorganic. @Ill_Evan I agree that organic would refer to more the nutrients and such, thinking about it now most mediums are natural (soil, coco, water) although maybe not organic per say. Such as the coco could have been grown using synthetic nutes. @Dank which brands? Curious to find out about this. In my mind I feel organic vs "non-organic" (not inorganic), is more about the nutrients which one gives their plants. However as mentioned originally, often there will be synthetic nutes used at some point in the grow, even if its just for supplementation. People stating organic bud is tastier, well, at what point does it get affected? When changing nutes? What if you go half / half with BioBizz and Greenhouse Powder Feeds for example? Correct me if I am wrong, but reading on this forum and watching YouTube grow videos of people overseas. There seems to be a "hype" of sorts about "organic" cannabis. People using soil specifically and then top feeding with amendments which are slow release or using BioBizz nutes or trying to male super soils so you do not need to add anything else. Then you ask yourself, what is the actual benefit? Why is it done like this and the answer I have always found is that organic bud "tastes better". Although at the same time I was thinking about these Grow off competitions - I love them, think its a great idea and I have enjoyed participating in it. The one category is for the best organic grow. How far could one push it before your grow is no longer classified as organic? I feel for a grow to be fully organic, it's not going to be easy to achieve. Not indoors at least. Perhaps more so outdoors.

I think the use of an indoor environment can still be considered in the realm of organic, depending on the organic nature of the medium and nutrients used, however not natural as @Ssomeguy suggests. How far could the argument of 'natural' be stretched? It could be argued that there exists no natural cannabis apart from landrace strains untouched by human intervention. But I think in this thread it is suggested that natural is considered as using the sun, soil and organic nutrients. Organic on the other hand is suggested to be considered how synthetic or processed one's medium or nutrients are. I think when MH or HPS bulbs are considered they should be considered on more the organic than the synthetic side as it is the combustion of gases within the bulb which emits the light, somewhat as similar as how our own sun emits light on a grander scale. A curve ball question then could be asked; how organic are LED lights in the context of this conversation? Should the organic nature of the lighting system even be considered at all in the objective description of how organic one's grow is?

SynthGanics bro! This probably the best argument i think. Everything is hype and marketing nowadays inmo. Finish em off good and cure em well, synthganics my bros. I would also add, most "famous" nutrients seem to give a certain aroma/taste to the weed (even flushed well), I believe they add flavour enhancers to a lot of these products.

One can have microbes and use synthetic nutes. I feel that when people think of organic, they think of soil - however you can use soil and have nothing else organic in your grow. On the flip side, you can do hydro or grow with coco / perlite and use organic nutes and feed with teas and have tons of microbes - it may not be the most ideal environment due to the lack of organic matter to break down however it is possible and there are people who do this. @Ssomeguy you feel an indoor grow is not organic, I assume considering the environment?

Nice, I think 2 would be the limit in terms of a nice spread and good light penetration. The LM301B are awesome diodes! Please create a grow diary and keep us posted with your grow. Are you going to be using a tent to grow in? Also what light cycle do you plan on using? If it is in an office where people are and with electronic equipment light leaks would be a concern of mine - however since it is an autoflower you can minimize the dark period duration... You could even run the light for 24 hours a day (never have a dark period).

That is likely the draw from the wall then, I still suspect the actual power which the LED's are receiving is around 60W, 80W at a push considering the max rated draw per LM301B diode is 0.57W So if they are putting out 60W of power and it's drawing 106W, the efficiency is pretty shit. 44W of power being wasted. Almost double the power - not something you need to be concerned about since you are not paying for electricity but just something to keep in mind for others who are interested in possibly purchasing these lights. Running two lights will lead to 88W of power being "wasted" and running it on 18 hours a day (for veg) leads to 65 KWH per month of wasted electricity and a total usage of 153KWH per month. So let's put this into an easy to understand rand value, the below calculations are based on a rate R1.82 per KWH. 2x Circular lights per month will cost you R278.4, this is for a total output of around 120W of LED lighting. Of that amount R118.30 is wasted due to the lack of efficiency. Convenient solutions for sure, not light on electricity. Rather close to an HID setup actually. If they are legit LM301B diodes, they are great diodes! The same LED's I run actually. How many plants do you plan on growing under that light?

Migro did a video on them 1.49 PPFD/W Convenient, but not great efficiency. Looks like a bit of a death trap, too. Compared to buying a 2 PPFD/W light for twice the price, you'll save money up until you've used about 600kWh. So you'll get 500 days worth of 12hrs/day light (or 333 days of 18 hrs/day), until it becomes more expensive overall with electricity, than a 2.0 PPFD/W light. (Assuming price of electricity doesn't rise)

Today I'm going to show you what a plant looks like coming out of reveg and signs to look out for when the plant is reveging. Okay so shit!!! You planted a month or 2 early and now your beautiful outdoor have started budding. What a shit show! This time of year for outdoor is best for growing leaves and plant mass, so now what?? Now your plant is going to reveg and its going to be a whole process!! Your plant will at a point not even look like weed anymore! Your lovely 5 finger leaves will get less and less, the serrations on the leaves will become fewer. She will spit out single finger leaves and look really weird! But then... The weirdest shit happens, these leaves start curling and freaking out. This is your indication that she is now back in veg mode! All growth above the curled leaf will be normal again. After a few weeks from that point, it might be prudent to trim back heavily on the growth from before reveg. Take a look at this critical mass plant that has just come out of reveg. Keep an eye out for the 3 spoke and 1 spoke leaves, as well as the serrated edges that aren't as serrated as true veg growth. Also see the curls I have on the leaves and how the growth looks after the curls.

I think you will be fine.... And it's easy enough to stop if you do notice anything

I would suggest to give these people n chance to try and ruffle themselves into an industry that was not so prevalent before herb came along, my experience is that 95% of horticulture or "hydro shop" shop assistants, rep's or well... most assistants don't know enough to help one, in general anyway... and so I myself had some BAD buys's. example: check out hydro SA hydroponics. You order a product "brand-name" acclaimed brands, my my..... OK so they using huge gallons and then put it their own packaging. But still that's in my mind not right to take a picture of a product and sell you something different (more or less the same product source but DEFINITIVELY not up to standard, I don't know if they shake or even agitate the 25L or whatever they pouring it from you don't know where it's from, whats in it, looks 50% diluted. So what process or source is it REALLY from etc etc . So a WWW shopper, like me orders on what I see and read and then I usually check reviews also before I just buy and the reviews on the product. (if I am not familiar with it how it works I obviously read and "study the product" but now if its delivered I find its not what they advertise! White bottles where delivered, different products same bottles the product was clearly not the same as the branded product they advertise, So I was in Shoprite garden section ( I mean this is shoprite , ok!) This is products that they advertise, and I'm telling you !!!!!! WTF, its note even the same thing, or processed in the same way/method ...You turn to them thinking they got it but they don't they pushing numbers.... welcome to South Africa Please understand this is NOT hate talk!!
