  1. Patience. Moderation with everything from water to nutrients, and more patience. The most common thing new growers do is over water and over feed.

  3. Man there is a lot: Always PH your water, even if it's an organic grow Don't waste your time with lemon juice and bicab, use proper PH up and PH down (it won't really affect the microbes) Do not waste your money on a cheap PH pen, get a good one outright Don't waste your money on a humidity dome - not needed for seedlings or cuttings There are great, cheap nutrients out there - BioBizz isn't necessarily the best and certainly not the most cost effective Good genetics are worth the money, the US has some top shelf genetics. Look there for good shit, over the Netherlands Watering is a PITA - get an automated watering system sooner than later Fork out money for good lights!! Organic grows are not really "better" than grows which do not make use of soil and/or organic nutrients

  7. A thread for what you wish you knew. I thought this could become a good resource for the young seedlings like me.

  8. Put up a DIY scrog net I made with rope and cable ties. It also gives me a nice indication of where I am aiming for the canopy to be. Otherwise, still smooth sailing. Growth is continous and healthy. The two plants are looking pretty level, I want them to hit and spread on the net at the same time.

  10. Don't grow shitty bagseed. Yes you might find a great plant... But nothing... And I mean nothing compares to decent genetics from the start. Get quality seeds!!!

  12. Make sure you have a hygrometer to monitor your temp/humidity and good airflow in your grow space if indoors. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk

  14. For me the most important aspects of a successful grow is quality lights, soil and genetics. So when starting out (indoor) invest in a quality light, when going outdoors you already have a quality light, the sun, so invest time and money in soil, either make your own or buy from a reputable source. Lastly genetics, fork out a few bucks for quality genetics, I mean you going to spend allot of time looking after the plant, might as well be worth it at the end. Not saying a random bagseed will not produce quality buds, but at the end of the day it's a bagseed, nothing more...

  15. I must be honest, I wonder whether we are able to notice the difference between say 24% THC and 28% THC on the same strain. As soon as you go for a different strain, the dominance in terms of Sativa / Indica I find plays a larger role in how you find the strain. So what I am saying is that someone may find an Indica dominant strain with say 20% THC more potent than a Sativa dominant strain with say 24% THC. I cannot confirm whether this is actually the case, although having smoked some bud which had been tested in a lab and came back with basically 26% THC and trying to compare it to the other stuff I have grown and some of my friends have grown ... it's rather difficult. Although I do still prefer going for a strain with higher THC percentage and some of the stuff I have grown def does not feel as strong to me compared to the strains which are listed as higher THC percentages. For example the Bruce Banner #3 is known to have been tested above 30% THC on a regular basis and my GDP is crossed with the same BB#3 that I grew out and both are decent in terms of potency when compared to my Daquari Lime auto - not sure what THC percent the plant is rated at but since it is an auto I am going to assume around 20% and then when comparing it to my CBD Critical Mass - which is meant to only be 6 - 8% THC and then 6 - 8% CBD, I do find I need to smoke quite a little more of it to get a similar buzz going but the way the buzz comes on and affects me makes me think the CBD strain could actually be quite a bit higher in THC. Then when comparing that 26% strain which was tested to a strain which is rated 12 - 19% THC, the difference was hard to tell. The 12 - 19% strain was a heavier indica though and the 26% strain a hybrid. Although, when I smoked cheap outdoor bud which is seeded I literally needed like 3 bowls to get a buzz going. I'd love to be able to have more bud tested for THC Potency, although based on my limited experience I am guessing that the difference is not as noticeable unless the THC % jump is quite significant. With that being said, I can certainly still notice a difference in potency between some strains. In terms of terpene profiles, eh, it's part of the experience but I do not smoke for the terpene profiles. I smoke for the effects. I have some weed which is just plain boring and tastes like cardboard but it's the exception among what I have grown. Ironically my CBD strain stands out the most in terms of terpene profile. The smell and taste are extremely unique, to me at least.

  16. HID lighting makes more heat than one thinks. I didn't think to negate the heat that my 400W MH would generate in my 80x80x180 tent in the beginning

  17. All the breeders and seed banks put out big thc numbers. I don't think I would be able to correctly guess what thc percentage are in my flowers. What attracts me and I think most people to good weed is the terps before potency.

  18. Thank all so very much for the input, keep it coming, please I am so excited, i cannot wait for the seeds to arrive. So i'm going with the seed starter mix and no nutes.

  19. Auto's are not something I have spent a lot of time researching into really, which breeders have strains which consistently hit 25% or higher THC in terms of autos? On Photoperiods it's becoming common to get 28% and higher now. I like the idea of running some autos in my veg area now and then while waiting for some photoperiods to flower.

  20. Looking good The odd leaves on the Diesoline could be those OG traits showing up, sometimes the "fuel" genes are a bit weirdish looking in the leaves, then that pretty bud and that gas aroma comes through in flowering! Had a BigKush from Dinafem that leaned to the OG side, very similar weirdish leaves to your the Diesoline. Happy growing @Dojee Dave !

  21. Things are coming along nicely. It's been very wet and rainy in Cape Town recently, not a lot of sun. But the water tanks are full and ready for a hot Summer I think. Firstly the odd Diesoline: Definitely petite compared to the others. The Candy is looking nice and bushy. The other Diesoline is a bit yellow, but still doing well. The Whole happy family. Candy on the left, Diesoline in the middle and Gardeners Delight on the right. Shouldn't be long before gender reveal time!

  22. Howzit guys Some bad news regarding one the prizes for this comp. A little administrative balls up from my side again. I must apologise! Sacred Seeds had only offered up their 2nd prize for last month's comp and not this month's. No mistake on his end, was a misread of mine. He unfortunately only noticed this yesterday and promptly notified me. That means the Freedom Farms prize will shift up to 2nd and this month's 3rd place winner will be sent a Black 420SA T-Shirt.
