  1. I see grass, we need to put more plants there this is unacceptable.

  2. Been thinking what @CreX mentioned about trusting in the scrog. Also @CleanGreen I agree I might run into space issues if I don't plan ahead. I decided to then lower the scrog and let the plants grow into them from now on. I also did a very light defoliation on some of the bigger fan leaves that were touching the cooler boxes and completely in shade. @PsyCLown I took a pic to show the space I still have above the light, we'll call that the "just-in-case-space"

  4. Afternoon 420, The@Dank Vanilla Kush Cookies are growing well. Just the girls are a bit shy showing their bits man. Did find a boy with a cool leaf colouration, lack of chlorophil. Seems to be in the genes as it's showing up in the new growth as well. The contrast in colour looks cool. I'll leave the plants to veg a bit more until their genders are clear. Still only had AACT and rainwater to date and they love it. Cheers Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  6. I agree, even if you do not want to grow a lot of different strains - purchase one or two good ones and just keep growing those. I personally do not find it worth while waiting 5 months or so to get bud which is disappointing to save a few hundred rands. Seeds can be a once off purchase if you just keep cloning. I grew a bagseed plant, it turned out pretty good and impressive looking fortunately. Although a grow is only as good as the weakest link really, if you have the best of everything but shit genetics you are going to still get shit. I like to use bodybuilders as an example to compare against cannabis as it can be easy to relate to and understand. In order for a bodybuilder to perform their best, they require certain things - they need to eat right, get enough sleep, train hard and need to have good genetics. Without training and getting all the other stuff dialed in, they will not reach their full potential. Now compare the bodybuilder to an average joe, with sub-par genetics. No matter how much they train and work on trying to be the best if their genetics are shit they will not get as big as the other guys and their performance will not be on the same level. In animal terms, you cannot take an Jack Russell and turn it into a Labrador. The genetics are what they are and end of the day can be a limiting factor.

  7. Awesome stuff....Wish I could plant my whole back yard, but my walls are too low for now. Allready got 14 in flower, 6 vegging clones 12 new clones and 10 new plants from seed. It gets hectic, but I love it... Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  9. I'd love to grow some, although finding some which are good is the problem. I don't know where to look and then just how good are they? As you said, legality is still an issue and affects breeding a fair bit.

  10. Funny guy neh. Put your haha's where your mouth is papi... I'm beginning to think you haven't even harvested for the first time yet

  11. I believe their are very good local strains and there are guys who have selected very good phenotypes that they breed with and they are trying to preserve our local strains. Problem is we don't have space to grow out a thousand plants and selecting 10 or 15 to breed with. Legality is still the problem. I have heard of guys growing high thcv strains. But they are keeping those strains for themselves. Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk

  13. Hey man. This is my option of what happened to your plant. Your plant was in late flower but due to the light cycle peaking above 12 hours (late spring) it started to reveg, you can clearly see this with the abnormal growth, it's called fox tailing. I do not think your plant was pollinated by a male, but pollinated itself (hermie), this can be caused by stressing the plant to the extend that its defensive mechanism kicks in to reproduce automatically, usually it only produces a few seeds. The only way you will be able to "save" the plant is by harvesting early or by putting it in a grow tent with 18/6 or 20/4 lighting. If you are in the Western Cape, the new outdoor grow season has started, cut your losses and plant a few new seeds. Anyway, just my opinion...

  14. Hahaha!!! I'm keen! Im only on 14 strains of which only 2 are bagseed gems that have proven that they are worth it

  15. LOL I'll choon the stomata on underside of your prized bagseed I have grown a decent amount of bagseed out, more than 100 for sure. Is very rare to find one plant that's decent. And even rarer to find someone who is willing to take cuttings of something they have never smoked or flowered. Im saying that out of 10 bagseed plants, you might find 1 or 2 that are okay But with paid for genetics out of ten, you will get 7 or 8 or more decent plants. It's really not fun spending weeks or months growing a plant you think will be amazing! And then after harvest it's not what you are looking for at all. You can carry on doing you bru... But don't for a second think you are doing yourself a favor by not growing tried and tested genetics from well spoken of seed companies.

  16. There are many lessons starting to come out of the states as they too still wrestle this monster. It is exactly the picture of legalization I imagined. Chaos really. It is why I remain a proponent of erasing cannabis from law altogether. Real freedom with no legislation having a single say in the matter. https://www.forbes.com/sites/mikeadams/2019/11/05/reasons-marijuana-legalization-seems-to-be-failing/amp/

  17. If the strain is bred properly and stabilized there is very little to no chance of genetic abnormalities or weaknesses.

  19. @SkunkPharm I love my local pavement special, she hardy produces shit loads of buds and a nice high, can grow a bit out of hand indoor lol I had a peach hybrid strain... had to kill her midway flowering 90%covered in PM while my local strain next to it had none. Yes there are great strains out there and 20+% THC, but just like dog breeding when you over breed you get weaknesses in the genetic.... my opinion.

  20. I think the topic of landrace strains deserves a thread of it's own. I'm not even sure they exist anymore from all the human intervention, but that depends on how strict your definition of landrace is. Kinda like the argument regarding organic growing

  21. When you say local, are you referring to the land races?

  22. Howzit 420SA, The Big Cookie Birds are doing their thing. So far we have 2x girls for sure, they have been planted out and seem to be settling well. Gave them all a dose of AACT to help with stress and ease the transition. The ladies formed a good rootball in the seedling bags. They should take off like veg rockets in the rich medium. Keep on puffin Cheers Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  24. The world will never do away with the black market... It's prices will never get beaten because they don't need to pay rent for a shop front, it's not made up of huge corporations... It's made up of a huge multitude of little organizations that just need to take an order, get the money, and move on... They aren't taxed... They don't have to do any advertising... Why would someone with access to what they want via their channels, pay double for the same thing, just because the legit shop owners need to pay off huge overheads.

  27. Yes, the bud would dry too quickly as the biltong dryer has a fan which pulls air directly over the biltong if I am not mistaken? If it dries too quickly, there is not enough time for the enzymes to breakdown what they need to (I think it is the sugars and chlorophyll) and this can lead to a harsh smoke.

  28. Now you're cooking with gas papi!! That looks like a winner! Do you have the 250w in there? If so, I had awesome results with the bulb surface 30cm away from the canopy! Keep an eye on the res as the ladies will start to driiiiiink!!!

  31. I believe it will be by way of application, either automatically by a state prosecutor on a case by case basis or if you want to speed up the process you hire a lawyer to do the application on your behalf.

  32. Hope you all recovered after the Bokke's victory! Some updates on my girls. My four Purple Haze seeds turned out 50/50 m&f cant wait to put them under 12/12 light. Oh anyone grown Purple haze? apparently the purple color only comes out under cold temperatures! Purple haze on Left Ok so after my last batch of flowering,I left her on her own and she grew past the lights, was a bad idea. Got this time a support system on the wall where she can lean on and i can scrog her. Also i got rid of the white light in flowering, was giving to much stretch in the buds. They going into week 4 of flowering.

  33. I can adjust the net and the height of the light at will @PsyCLown will adjust as necessary. @CreX might just lower the net a bit after a bit more spread after a few days. I have considered the flowering stretch. The timing in general with a scrog net is new to me, so I'm playing it as I go.

  35. Man there is a lot: Always PH your water, even if it's an organic grow Don't waste your time with lemon juice and bicab, use proper PH up and PH down (it won't really affect the microbes) Do not waste your money on a cheap PH pen, get a good one outright Don't waste your money on a humidity dome - not needed for seedlings or cuttings There are great, cheap nutrients out there - BioBizz isn't necessarily the best and certainly not the most cost effective Good genetics are worth the money, the US has some top shelf genetics. Look there for good shit, over the Netherlands Watering is a PITA - get an automated watering system sooner than later Fork out money for good lights!! Organic grows are not really "better" than grows which do not make use of soil and/or organic nutrients

  36. Stop buying into bullshit organic hype, nitrogen is nitrogen, potassium is potassium.

  37. Agreed, basically using this to test the "no feed needed" soils. They are/will only be fed water and a weekly/fortnite dose of tea until deficiency start showing. For brewing I have got a heated magnetic stir plate with an airstone:

  38. Well I'm going to be giving synthetic nutes a go now to see how it compares. Although I've got my living organic soil which I'm still using for now. I'm not worried about being 100% organic right now. I'm more curious as to how much wiggle room everyone feels is acceptable before a grow should no longer be classified as organic? 39. I highly recommend just getting a small RH meter! get it right every time, you can also jerry rig some small humidity meters into your jars if you are into diy
