U must say.. My first experience with B&B was very dissapointing..

From left to right, The Grow Station, Just Cannabis and Freedom Farms. Leaves on the girl in TGS soil are much more pale than the other two. Going to give some bloom today.

There are many factors to look at in your situation before blaming the seedbanks. Sometimes you do get dud seeds. It's best to 1stly always buy seeds in sealed breeders packs. I've used both of the local seedbanks you have had issues with. GSR for many years and BnB since they 1st opened up. The only issue I've had was with GSR with their in-house genetics. The plants were nothing close to what they were supposed to be. Sometimes you do get dud seeds. I've ordered from international seedbanks and found that a lot of times the freebies don't pop or they take a long time to germinate. (that's if my parcel is not confiscated by our local bubu's) If I were you I would relook at my germination techniques and 100% rule that out before blaming the seedbanks. There are just to many variables. A lot of these seeds travel the world prior to reaching our shores. Poor handling and storage by all involved play a huge role in the viability of the seeds. As a rule I always try germinate all the seeds I buy in each batch and cull or give away the extras. Just keep it simple and don't lose hope.

I don't think it is the seed bank selling the seeds that is the problem. I just think that some feminized seeds have an issue in general sprouting. But sometimes you can just see that the seeds you got is kak no fault of the people selling it. I suggest sticking with reputable seed companies like Green house seed, Dinafem, RQS and Humboldt if you are a beginner grower. I have never had an issue with their seeds. So I asked myself the question, " what do I do with the extra plants I have??? " Answer is, go buy some perlite and coco coir. It quite cheap if you buy in bulk and do your homework. There is a company called INFIGRO that is based in Blackheath. They're prices is good. Perlite - R220 for 100L Vermiculite - R145 for 100L Coco Coir R40 for 4.5kg block But back to the story at hand. I got myself perlite and coir as I said, then headed over to the hydro store and picked up some Calmag, a cheap pH meter (the bottle one, works OK to test pH) and headed home. Buffered the coco, flushed it and mixed up a 50 50 mix of coco perlite. Reason for going with this mix is that it's cheap, can be re-used, flushes much better and doesn't bring those fucking fungus gnats we all came to love... cough cough Freedom Farm cough cough........ I wanted to use 4 x 15L pots but sadly only had 2 spare. So I used 2 x 25L and 2 x 15L pots next run I'll do all 4 with the same size. And with that I also decided to do a little test. Main reason for getting the pH meter cause I have a bag of mineral feed used for flowering orchids. I used it once before and I worked well so I thought I'd do a test. 2 of them will be fed with Bio Bloom and the other 2 will get a mineral feed. I know there is better mineral feed out there but this is what I have on hand now and if I like the results then I'll fork out money and get better nutrition for the ladies. The Bio-Bloom plants: Shiskaberry Chocolope The 2 mineral plants: Bruce Banner #3 x Bruce Banner #3 Bruce Banner x Girl Scout Cookies The flowering light cycle will be the gas lantern cycle which means the light cycle is as follows: 8 hours on / 16 hours off. I used it on my previous grow but with that one I dropped the light cycle with 30 min every 2 weeks until I came to 8 hours on and 16 hours off. This time I am starting the cycle with the cycle at 8 /16. This method does not allow that all to well known stretch and is perfect for vegging a bit longer or for heavy Sativa dominant plants. The most stecth I noticed was 2 cm... The 1st time I heard/read about this method was on Grow Weed Easy and ever since then I always wanted to try it. Reson for the extra plants is because I love to plant seeds. I over planted and guessed I would have more males...guess I was wrong. So now I have them andagain it something I wanted to do for quite a while - side by side grow, organic vs mineral..... I know the Bruce Banner is not well trained but it was kinda last minute decision. That's about it for ins and outs on what's going down in the tent. Come on by, hang out and talk shit. Maybe even share some tips on how I fuck up .

Wasn't liking the new growth I was seeing from the plant on the right, plant on left is also displaying similar but less severe symptoms of "leaf clawing" as to the plant on the right. The leaves themselves feel almost brittle in a sense, as though over-dried. Initial research points towards nitrogen toxicity. I've decided to flush the res and let sit in pH'd water overnight. Will add half dose of nutes tomorrow.

I've only dealt with B&B twice, and I was pleasantly surprised at the service. first time around was when the grow shop was still up, got nutes and seeds. all the seeds were from bulk seed bank. 5 didn't pop out of 8. needless to say, was pissed off, but chalked it up to school fees, then I read on here that they have a replacement policy for seeds that fail to germ, contacted them, didn't have the seeds we had originally ordered in stock, so they replaced it with seeds that were more expensive, only got 4, not 5, but was more than happy because it was better genetics, all of the seeds popped and had a taproot, but again, not having enough experience I managed to kill 2 of them. might be bias, but I love B&B. to be fair though I haven't had any experience with another seed bank to compare it to, but I don't feel the need to compare.

For that price you could get 2 240w quantum boards. Just my opinion. Enjoy the lights. I would build a QB board with Samsung Lm301b strips. Or if your not into DIY buy something from growopz or aeradix with local warranty. Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk

@Za Weed Lover what is your germing technique exactly? How long do you soak for? You mention a heating pad, what do the seeds go in when you move them onto a heating pad? I'm not saying you're guilty of it but I've seen so many guys go overboard when germing seeds and that's often where the problem lies. I agree with @SkunkPharm though. Stick with reputable breeders. Too many fly by night breeders with very little evidence of their genetics in action. They may have some great phenos but equally as many terrible ones (Green house seed co. also guilty of this). If you see a strain that you fancy, google the shit out of it. Look for grow diaries on forums. Don't rely on images from the breeder. Look for independent views on the strains. Now that something I haven't heard, such craziness, I hope it isn't such.. it sucks flashing money down the drain. Some of us enjoy growing more then smoking. So dampens the experience. Sent from my SM-A705FN using Tapatalk

Yeh that should do the trick (heating pad not over 22 -25 degrees), not sure what is up with these beans being sold in SA, have been hearing similar stories, some say beans are being microwaved, ie radiated, so that you keep buying more seeds. More likely they are being radiated on the way through customs in two countries, this is a issue for Orchid breeders and other plant lovers.

Well, which seeds did you order? From which breeder? I know GSR has had issues with their seeds not popping before. Some of my friends have ordered from BnB and not had issues with seeds but another purchased some auto seeds from expert seeds I think and he had one pop only. A few pics of the 2 beauties. I fed them a super tea this morning and really excited to see what they do. They are responding really well in the coco. Even without checking any pH. Just water and Seagro and a cocktail now and then.

@PsyCLown my reses are small enough that I just pop the cooler top open and shift the bottom enough to form a gap to pour in new res water. I have done two full grows with only changing the res at switch to flower, so when I do the full res change I just use a bucket the same height as my cooler boxes and pop the roots with some water in there with the cooler box lid suspended by the rim of the bucket. @CleanGreen initially I was max paranoid about root rot but I've found that as long as the res water doesn't go above 26C and there is no light leaks into the res you should be A ok the root system develops beneficial microbacteria by itself and too frequent res changes could actually hamper these bacteria from fighting off the bad bacteria that causes root rot. Just my experience, but one cannot prevent everything all the time
