  1. Upped the EC with more nutes or calmag? Plants are looking better, but I would say it's more due to the fresh res than the upped EC

  2. Yeah thanks will do, normally wrap some insulation tape just below the split as preventative. Dont like using wire or rope. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  3. Morning fellow Greenfingers, The Vanilla Kush ladies are doing awesome, unfortunately only 2 girls out of beans germed. Got 2 boys and 1 hermies, we had some really crap weather the last couple of weeks. Lots of rainy overcast days that may have had an effect, but that's how the cookie crumbles. Started feeding them a mix of seagrow, molasses and epsom alternating with AACT and rainwater. Preventatively added some powdered eggshell to the topdressing as some of our other plants started showing some calcium defs. Will do 2 or 3 toppings to keep them low, hopefully also 6-8 good colas. Lekker people. Cheers Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  4. Morning 420SA, Mr Danks Cookie Birds are flying the coop...hahaha.[emoji3] Bloody vegging rockets. Doing some serious topping to try and keep them in check. Seems so far we have 3 confirmed ladies, the 4th plant(last 2 pics)seems a bit shy to show its bits but transplanted it anyway and hoping for the best. It has a slightly different colour than the other plants- more blue-ish. They loving the seagrow, molasses/epsom feedings and the AACT is keeping the rootzones happy. All good cheers vir eers.[emoji16] Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  7. Breeding Cannabis at home as a hobby (or more seriously) is now easier than ever before, thanks to the pioneers that have been tirelessly breeding (and preserving) countless of generations since the early 80's in Holland, US and other parts of the world. We as hobbyists can now start with proven genetics and try to develop new, or preserve certain traits/effects that the Cannabis flowers posses. Feel free to ask questions or share your experiences/resources. 8. I've never had issues with damping off either, although rather use it. It's not a bad thing and can only be beneficial. It's cheap too. Although even with being clean and sterile, it's never really sterile. As soon as it's out in the open, there is a chance for contaminations. The fan would just further increase that risk. I also rub sugar leaves to smell the terpenes. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

  9. Yeah I must agree on the not touching of buds. I rub the undersides of the sugar leaves to get a smell of the terps. I haven't used any of those inoculations in coco but I would love to try it. Damping off is . I'm quite ocd when it comes to sanitizing everything before germination. I strictly only use those coco plugs to start seeds. And then face a fan directly at the tops of them for a few hours just to dry the tops a bit before they sprout. I haven't had a single damping off this way. Domes and reusing substrates definitely increases chances of damping off. It really sucks when you see a beautiful little sprout emerge and then start to grow its beautiful little 1st true leaves and then all of a sudden... bom bom bom...

  10. Upped it with nutes, however still within the recommended dose specified by Nutriplex. Think I've figured out the discrepancy between recommended dosage and suggested EC. Recommended dosage in veg is 8ml per 10l of each formula. The EC you get with the nutes alone then is 0.8EC. However the suggested EC is 1.5-2.2. That should probably be upped using additives and not with more nutes. I'll apply this on the next res change in a week when I flip to flower.

  11. I try avoid touching my buds, I know quite a few like to touch them and see how dense they are - I prefer to leave them alone. I've only ever sprayed water and now AQ sf and milk during flower. It's a fungal itself, so I think that is the reason why it doesn't cause any damage to the pistils. I also quite like trichoderma and mycorrhizal fungi in my grows. How much of a difference it actually makes I cannot say, but I use it anyways. Trich always as part of my seed soak, I believe it can help prevent damping off and root rot and a few other issues. Moving over to coco now, I don't feel as if there is much need to use microbe inoculations. Not much organic matter for the microbes to break down etc. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

  13. Very nice indeed. Maybe try and support the stem on the split of youre mainline plant.. they tend to split. .

  14. I'd rather use AQ sf and / or milk in flower as opposed to something like copper soap (toxic) or hydrogen peroxide (I fear about damage to the trichomes and terpenes). My Charlottes Angel was in flower with some bud development when I used it. Just made sure the fan was on it to dry it out and did it as the lights came on to ensure it evaporates and such. 15. Morning leka ppl, Been a flippen wild couple of weeks. This may be the season to grow but bloody hell the weather is playing havoc on the North Coast. Cloudy rainy days mixed with thunder, lightning and 80km/hr gusts. Reminded me of Cape Town weather. Thankfully all our water tanks are full....all 6500lt and no serious damages. . 1 & 2. Swazi Gold clones are looking good. The Big Swazi mother started showing signs of revegging, so we harvested her. Luckily I took enough clones. 3,4,5. Swazi Gold x Mango Kush lady from my pheno hunt, looking frosty. 6.Experimenting with some hst and mainlining. Just for fun. Keep on puffing. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  16. There's 4 plants in there the one right back stretched more than the rest but I'm happy with the canopy seeing as they are 4 different strains. I use biobizz nutrients so I cannot premix in a reservoir. What I do is mix my nutrients as I need them in a 25 bucket. I have a pump that pumps the solution into the pots via DIY irrigation piping. The setup to water probably cost me like R250 an 1 hours work

  17. Firstly this is the Tropf Blumat system, so it works like a dripper - the other blumat systems work on the basis that the carrot is full of water / nutes and then as the medium (soil, coco etc.) dries up, it draws the water through the clay carrot - which is then refilled either via a bottle on top of the carrot or a small tube, depending on which one you have. The Tropf uses the carrot and the medium to draw water out of it, to trigger when it starts to drip the water / nute solution from a res (or tap). As the soil gets wet then the clay carrot draws water / nutes back inside of it and stops dripping water. Well, I am in the process of switching over from soil to Coco & Perlite and have done a bit of a half arsed job, still need to expand the drippers a bit on the larger 20L pots but so far it seems to be working very nice! The fact that you can adjust each carrot individually is awesome and the fact that each plant only gets water when needed is also brilliant. On a traditional drip system, each plant would get water at the same time and the plants not drinking as much are kinda screwed. In soil that can negatively affect your plants. Growth seems to be improved as well, I only set it up on Saturday I think but so far loving it. Still need to set it up in my flowering tent. I feel the coco & perlite combined with the blumat system will be fantastic! I am expecting quicker growth too and the fact that I no longer need to water by hand is very welcome. Such a tedious task! Nah, I also did some schwartzing in my previous grow if you'd like to go and see how that went. Still get a few here and there but this time I am changing things a bit. Main reason I clean the plants so much is to avoid trimming the small shitty nugs, although I have now gone into flower with larger plants and am aiming for 6 to 8 main colas, previously I feel I had too many which negatively affected light penetration in my limited flowering space. I feel having fewer colas will help in this regard. I will also be defoliating a bit more and a bit earlier. I am going to play around a bit with a few other things and see how it turns out and if it will help increase my yield. Back to the thread, I have found the dates I put the plants into flower and have edited the original post as well to refelct these dates for those interested. Mandarin Cookies #1 (I plan to add a 2nd one into flower later, hence the numbering): 8 Nov 2019 Inzane In the Membrane: 15 Nov 2019 Grape Diamond: 19 Nov 2019

  18. Agreed, most commercial potting soils as mentioned will kill your plants...some faster than others. As a standalone medium they are rubbish for many reasons. But used as a base with a couple of additions and some composting you can turn it into a relatively good, cost effective medium. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  21. A few pics of the 2 beauties. I fed them a super tea this morning and really excited to see what they do. They are responding really well in the coco. Even without checking any pH. Just water and Seagro and a cocktail now and then.

  25. Lots of upgrades done since the last run. My AC is now on a controller I added a Meaco 20l dehumidifier upgraded the tent to a Secret Jardin DS120 replaced small 6 inch fans with box fans. I'm ready to flip, will do this today or tomorrow. Back left Zweet Inzanity, back right Blueberry Indica x Heribei, front left Peyote Cookies, front right Jolly Rancher. 1 more mixed run after this then it's time for mono crops with the best I've found.

  28. Swazi Gold is a Landrace sativa strain. Who knows if she's 100% ''pure'', personally believe she's close enough- lots of research done. Google will show you many pheno's.[emoji848] She has the typical narrow leaves and buds have a tangy citrus scent and strong cerebral effect. Going to let her go more amber this time - more chill and less headrush. She is on the finishing stretch, been feeding twice a week to try and reduce early leaf loss- to no avail. I like to check pistils and there after trichome colouration. Plant will tell you when they are ready. The previous Swazi lady finished with very few leaves. Don't really flush in the indoor sense, we stop feeding and plants recieve only rain water for a couple of days before the chop. Will take a few bud pics. Cheers Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  29. Good day fellow horticulturists 1-4. Some gratuitous bud shots for you[emoji3] 5. Our Swazi Gold lady picking up some weight. 6-7. Wanted to check the conditions in the greenhouse. Tried using the terarium thermometer....it went up 65deg C - I think it's broken. My trusty IR thermometer showed the real temps. 8. Seaweed FPJ brewing along nicely. White fungal colouration is supposed to be a good sign. But holy crap the smell, it's beyond stanky.[emoji43] 9. Moved our strawberries in as well, birds and monkeys are chowing everything. 30. Morning, Make that 6/6 Mr Joe...[emoji3] So I had a problem with this one bean, seems it is was tuff nut. Decided to try something, bit of a hail Mary as I had zero expectations. Took it out the soil and scraped the edge, then manually cracked it by splitting the 2 halves with the fine cutting edge of my pocket knife. Back onto the germination pads and 48hrs later.........[emoji16] Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  32. I would suggest to give these people n chance to try and ruffle themselves into an industry that was not so prevalent before herb came along, my experience is that 95% of horticulture or "hydro shop" shop assistants, rep's or well... most assistants don't know enough to help one, in general anyway... and so I myself had some BAD buys's. example: check out hydro SA hydroponics. You order a product "brand-name" acclaimed brands, my my..... OK so they using huge gallons and then put it their own packaging. But still that's in my mind not right to take a picture of a product and sell you something different (more or less the same product source but DEFINITIVELY not up to standard, I don't know if they shake or even agitate the 25L or whatever they pouring it from you don't know where it's from, whats in it, looks 50% diluted. So what process or source is it REALLY from etc etc . So a WWW shopper, like me orders on what I see and read and then I usually check reviews also before I just buy and the reviews on the product. (if I am not familiar with it how it works I obviously read and "study the product" but now if its delivered I find its not what they advertise! White bottles where delivered, different products same bottles the product was clearly not the same as the branded product they advertise, So I was in Shoprite garden section ( I mean this is shoprite , ok!) This is products that they advertise, and I'm telling you !!!!!! WTF, its note even the same thing, or processed in the same way/method ...You turn to them thinking they got it but they don't they pushing numbers.... welcome to South Africa Please understand this is NOT hate talk!! THIS IS SOMETHING TO BE COUSCOUS ABOUT its something that we should realize as GROWERS that are serious and/or Professional just something to look out before just buying FROM LOCAL SHOPS... I HAVE YET TO FIND A HYDRO-SHOP ANYWHERE IN SA THAT'S REALY HONEST, OR NOT WAY OVERPRICED. I GET A FEELING OF AOOH YEA THIS IS AN AFRICAN BUSINESS OPERATING LIKE THE REST OF THE SHITSEM... Shalom
