I haven't done any breeding as yet so I can't say that I've personally done that. It's definitely not for seeds. I watched Kevin Jodrey series of interviews called 'meet the breeders'. (Check it out, it's awesome, you will know what I know about what the breeders have to say). Mean Gene mentioned that they would purposely mess with light cycles to fish out plants that are most susceptible to herming amongst many other stress tactics for pm etc when trying to stabilize a line. Sounds outrageous to you... but we talking about some of the pioneers of cannabis breeding here. And then it was also mentioned that the word stabilizing nowadays has 2 meanings. 1 being it's been stabilized to not herm and the other being the original use of the word where they stabilizing a strain to all grow the same and not have a lot of diversity.4 points

One of the reasons I do defoliation and light stress training. If they can't handle that then sorry it's time to move on.3 points

Late flowering is strain dependant. If you buying your seeds then breeders have information about time duration of that strain to give you a guideline. So when your plant has stopped pushing out white hairs and the trichs are mostly cloudy you can stop nutes and use ripen on its OWN for a week and then just plain water to chop down. The instructions for the floraseries and ripen are on the bottles. Read it and follow it. 8-9week strain, I would start paying attention for the above from around day 50. If you have enough light and air exchange you can go full strength and above safely for most strains. So based on that you have to adjust the ratios. And that question about cutting sugar leaves you need to forget it and never ask that again.(the only time you should be cutting sugar leaves is when you trimming your buds). Get more experience before doing any defoliation from midflower onwards.3 points

So I persisted and the transplant was done. Freedom farms, some Bokashi and a small amount of potting soil. I think his girls will now be happy.. No good..2 points

Heard about light stressing like you mentioned. But I don't have time for that.... I'll just grow it out and flower as usual2 points

Genetics: In House Genetics - Sugar Cane x2 (Slurricane x Platinum) In House Genetics - Bananium (Banana OG x Platinum) Ethos - Banana Daddy (GDP x Banana Hammock) Ethos - Mandarin Cookies (Forum Cut Cookies x Mandarin Sunset) Ethos - Orange Kush Cake (Wedding Cake x Jilly Bean) x (Sour Tangie x Rozé Zkittlez x OG Eddy Lepp) Ethos - Glue (GG4 x (Ethos Kush IBL x GG4) x GG4) Mosca - Alien Wedding (Wedding Crasher x Fire Alien White) DNA - Holy Grail Kush (Kosher Kush x OG18) DNA - Strawberry Banana (Banana Kush x Bubblegum) Humboldt - Green Crack Humboldt - Gorilla Breath (Original Glue x OGKB) Setup: Seedlings = 110W COB in 80x80, Veg = 240W Quantum Board in 120x120, Flower = 480W Quantum Board in 120x120 2x 6" Extractor 10L and 15L pots Nutrients and Soil: Freedom Farms Classic Soil BioBizz Grow Freedom Farm's Kelp Freedom Farm's Fire Juice Wurmbosch Worm Castings BioBizz Bloom _______________________________________________________________ Germination & Week 1 The germination was done in paper towels with open ziplock bags for humidity retention, as well as inside of a humidity dome on a heat mat. Had a 100% germination rate on these beans. ____________________________________________________________ Week 2 Veg Week 2 was going alright, though I was a bit light on the watering which resulted in some slowed root growth. All girls were looking decent except for the Ethos Glue which revealed itself as a runt early on. Was later removed from the tent during mid veg. Kept them under a heat mat for a while since temperatures were a bit low. ____________________________________________________________ Week 3 Veg Transplanted into slightly larger pots with some Mycoroot. Roots took hold during this period and the plants started to look much better, split picture below is a 5 day difference after transplant. Still only giving water at this stage, pH to 6.3. __________________________________________________________________ Week 4 Veg They were looking better in week 4, though still recovering a bit from the slow root growth in the second week. However they were definitely speeding up, with the Mandarin Cookies pictured below taking the early lead in appearance. ___________________________________________________________________ Week 5 Veg I started to give them the first feed in week 5, providing them with 1/3 strength Kelp, as they weren't showing any real defs at this stage and wanted to just give them something for the following week. It was also at this time that I did a bit of a late topping to the girls. _________________________________________________________ Week 6/7 Veg Week 6 of veg and the plants were moved into the 1.2x1.2m tent under 240W of QB. Feeding them once a week during this period with 1/4 dose BioBizz Grow and 1/6 strength Kelp. _____________________________________________ Week 7 Veg Week 7 I gave them a feed of Worm Castings, but noticed that none of the plants were very hungry and a once a week feed was seeming more than enough. Pictured below is the Alien Wedding by Mosca. _____________________________________________________________________________ Week 8 Veg In week 8, I took cuts of the girls. Pictured is one of the Sugar Cane cuts after 6 days in EasyPlugs. ___________________________________________________________ Week 1/2 of Flower This was a few days ago now, I am currently into the second week of 12/12 and the plants are starting to show clusters of pistils. The stretch on the Green Crack and Orange Kush Cake is unbelievable and I had to tie them down just before flipping to promote some hormones to the lower nodes. Pictured below, in order - Mandarin Cookies, Green Crack, Alien Wedding and Sugar Cane Will update this thread as the plants progress through flower.1 point

Thanks man. The Alien Wedding is now developing awesome terps. Almost like hash dipped in petrol and grease. Insanely gassy, almost opens the sinuses. Definitely looking forward to it now.1 point

Well done. I'm pretty sure they will recover soon and just show their gratitude. That pot they were in's soil didn't look all that good. I have the same pots and they have become quite expensive....1 point

@Mambawana, the ladies are doing better. I adjusted the pH to 5.5 but not sure about the ec yet. I'm waiting on a meter and should be here sometime next week. I am waiting for the lights to turn on so that I can give them all their feeding. The Organic ladies are in for a a nice feeding session tonight. But all about that a bit later1 point

Well it's perfect that you don't want to try fill that space. Atleast you can have space for a cupboard or something that you can store your nutes and general growing related items. And space to move around and work on your plants. 400grams combined yield would be a good yield out of those lights. I know a lot of guys are using LEDs, maybe they can point you in the right direction So you can slowly upgrade in the future. You will win on the heat issue, on consumption or yield more with the same power draw.1 point

Some serious question needing some serious advice... But luckily you've been sorted out The problem with growing weed is that the info you get from the web and friends can and will get confusing. Doing a little homework before jumping in is always a big advantage to yourself and can mean the difference between an OK harvest and a omg harvest. Best of luck dude1 point

Don't be sad, the sugar leaves and larfies aren't very potent without a cure. Jar them and wait atleast 2 weeks... you might be surprised... Next round go for strains that finish early... 7-8weeks. You have some experience under your belt so it's only going to get easier.1 point

Puff puff pass... It's cool brother. We are all only as good as the mistakes we've learnt from. And if you see someone go through something you have already its hard not to say anything. I apologise if I was harsh, I saw that message just after I found a hermie in my garden day 26 flower and those pollen sacks looked a few days from causing kak so you can imagine...1 point

Mmmm not sure why I replied like that but I guess emotions can't be seen through text. I meant it in a good way meaning you were spot on with the medium of choice and the issue I have at hand. Advice from anyone is always greatly appreciated no matter who. Sorry if I came across rude.1 point

I would definitely leave fans and ventilation on 24/7. Monitor that plant that has the cupping effect on the leaves. It's not the normal lights off droop. Might be 1st signs that something is going wrong in the medium. Either unbuffered coco and/or to the ph is off. Check ph and ec of run off so you can get some peace of mind. Atleast you in coco so it will be easy to correct.1 point

Shot dude. I ended up finding another 1. So now I have 2 gaps in my canopy. Both these plants were breed by phenofinder genetics. Both had beautiful bud set but we're through and through hermaphrodites. Did a major defoliation At day 20, 6 days later then usual due to commitments. Guess that's what it took for these plants to show their true nature. But it's water under the bridge, those 2 and their respective clones have all been culled.0 points
