I hear you. I have the space buy I don't want to add unnecessary additions to my already full schedule if it's not compulsory. I don't really plan on doing any back crossing so if I needed pollen again I could probably find a male from my F1s and chuck it at other females from different lines or just look for another male from future seeds I buy. Atleast I can scratch cloning my males now if I sex them before I have to take clones of everything.1 point

This is really up to you @Mambawana , in the beginning it is probably not necessary to back up the males, but its good practice if you do have the space. More serious breeders have their prize studs that they keep in veg and try to keep alive for as long as possible.1 point

@Dr. Green You are right. It's crazy expensive but it comes with a lifetime guarantee. Shipping is ridiculous but it's because the XP weighs over 30kg. I could not believe the weight of this thing. Bullet proof. Taxes were about R 7 000 so only worth it if you can bring it in under a company name so that you can claim the vat input back. I recommend the Nugsmasher mini - can probably bring one in for less than 10k excl accessories.1 point

With those temps, I think an aircon would probably be your best bet. In terms of yield, I run LED Quantum Boards with Samsung diodes (LM301B's) and in my small 1.2 x 0.6 tent (0.72sqm) I managed what I feel is a decent yield. I still need to weight my Chocolope once dry, although I am expecting around 350 - 380g dry in total from my harvest. I have 4x Quantum Boards which I feel is overkill and I ran them at a max of 360W, combined they are capable of 480W with the driver I have. If you were to look at efficiency (power) and the yield from space I think it's pretty good. 28C is the max I want my grow tent to be, hotter than that and I get worried and it will negatively affect your bud as the terps will start to degrade. Unless you acn pull in much cooler air, an aircon is probably your next best thing - a portable one will work if you can't or do not want to install a permanent mid-wall unit. A 12 000 BTU portable aircon is around R5 - R6k brand new, 2nd hand you can get some good deals. Remember that a portable aircon requires extraction and can also act as extraction - it has a pipe which blows out hot air and this will need to be blown outside directly, the fewer bends and the shorter the run, the more effective and efficient the portable aircon will be.1 point

So today was one of those strange days. I felt a bit irritated and decided to take the pipe, grinder and some bud and drive up to the mountain. It quite close to where I live and it's relaxing. So while driving and finding spots to place the cooked rice to make some BIM a bit later on the year I found these 2 decaying pine trees.... I scratched a bit and when I checked I had a handful of decomposed pine tree. So I decided to take it home and add it to the brew thats currently going. Before I went home I stopped to pick up some bananas. Read that if you make a tea from it it'll help with the budding phase adding extra Potassium. Whether it helps or not, I'm not sure but fuck it... I added it and gave it to the ladies. The Mineral ladies got......this..... And now for the ladies and how they look... 1 Shiskaberry : 2 Chocolope And the 2 Mineral ladies... I ph'd the water to 5. 5 this round and let see what happens. Very excited about the new meter coming next week. 3. Bruce Banner x Bruce Banner 4. Bruce Banner x Girl Scout Cookies1 point

At what times do you run your lights. If you are really looking into something that will help with temps there is ways. Like, getting an aircon for that room, or, create a passive airflow, or get an inline filter...... All that will cost you money. The ballast does give off a lot off heat and I had that same issue. But luckily I could mount it against a wall. Why not move it under the shed. Build a space for it in a way that there is natural airflow...... But I have another way. I have tried it last run and I'm doing it again. I use the Gas Lantern cycle or the 12-1 cycle. That way I could run my lights when it is night time and when I left for work the lights went out. They are on from 19:00 - 07:00. During the day the are off for 5.5 hours and then on for an hour and then off again for 5. 5 hours. Go and Google it and read up on it. It saves you money (electricity) and it saves young grow gear wear and tear by not running as long...1 point

And here we go... She showed herself and at that exact moment she was snatched up and repotted to a 25L pot. I might leave her now for about a week to settle in before I pull het down and start her training....... Might even start this afternoon. Her 1st rays of sun hits her at 06:50 and the last direct sun is at 16:45. That's a really decent amount of sun for her and the other ladies so I'm sure she's gonna have fun growing where she is at. She will get her usual dose of Seagro but hopefully if all works out then I'm picking up a 25L can of guano next week. Then I'll be more involved in the teas. I am giving the plants 2 feedings a week and it's gets a lot when it comes to feeding. Any good uses for rabbit droppings??? Read its a good source minerals for plants and thought about adding that to a tea brew, once composted and stable of course.1 point

@Dank Before I jump the gun too much I need to find some males. I've got a few good females that have not hermed that I want to pollinate. I plan on doing some random crosses not really based on locking in traits but to produce seeds that I can grow out and search for something new. My question... should I keep copies of the males I use?1 point

6 weeks flowering. All progressing well. I have a good seed set from this pollination round. Only started pollinating at week 5 flower. I have moved away from the bloom nutes that are available due to their ridiculous price. These plants are in 5l pots, organic medium, and been feeding seagrow in veg, and continuing into flower, and from week 2 of flower started introducing MKP(hortimix) at 1ml/l along with the seagrow, working it up to 5ml/l. So the feed ratio now is 5ml/l seagrow, 5ml/l MKP, and adding a little magsulph every 3rd feed or so. Female 1 Female 2 Reversed female1 point

Another week gone, and I'll now be heading into week 5 of flower. The revelation this week is that the Orange Kush Cake by Ethos is one hell of a keeper pheno. The terps are now a distinct Fanta orange/orange candy and trichome coverage is growing leaps and bounds each day. Only at day 24 and she's already looking caked up. The Banana Daddy has some serious problems which appears to either be a Phos def or severe nutrient burn - neither of which should be occurring given my feeds. The Mandarin Cookies are giving off amazing naartjie/mandarin terps which are sharp and sweet. ^ Ethos - Orange Kush Cake (Day 24) ^ Humboldt - Green Crack (Day 24) ^ Mosca - Alien Wedding (Day 24) ^ DNA - Strawberry Banana (Day 24)1 point

Update: Week 3 of Flower Week 3 of flower has gone well, no real issues arising yet. Had some nitrogen deficiency on the Orange Kush Cake lower fan leaves, after spending all her energy depleting the soil for her stretch. I've added some worm castings, kelp and alfalfa mulch to the mix. Buds are starting to develop now and each day the signs of trichome development on the sugar leaves, and on a couple - fan leaves, is starting to get me excited. Humidity is sitting steady at 40-45% with the dehumidifier and temperatures between 22'C at lights off and 28'C with lights on when warm.
