  1. Thanks man. Week 7 Update. The Orange Kush Cake suddenly started with a fast, maroon fade which has taken over much of the upper leaves. A real looker for sure... Next up is the Sugar Cane, with that classic towering calyx structure. Some nice trichome formation along the fan leaves. Unfortunately I get NO terps off her at all, this is something I've heard about Sugar Cane in other forums. Hopefully the cure brings it out some more. Then onto the Strawberry Banana, a more sativa dominant genetic, so understandable why it's a bit behind the others. But decently caked... I am having a few other minor issues in the tent, the small pot size combined with the bud weight is causing some stability issues on the Green Crack and Mandarin Cookies. I removed the weak Banana Daddy from the tent and replaced it with an Ethos Glue, Glue is known to hermie fairly often so will be watching it closely.

  3. I've got a car battery that I was using as a UPS for the air pumps when I was still at my old place. Still have a few lying around but being out of the country at the moment isn't helping much got a novice looking after the current grow but all they know to do is top-up the reservoirs. All the rest is up to the Gods of the Herb.

  5. Entry 2 With this rain our moisture in the air became so high that in the house plants tiny mushrooms started to grow

  6. I don't feel as if the light cycle is as much of an issue for me as is the lack of extraction - especially with all the rain in Gauteng, humidity in my house has been in the 80's and it increases in the tents when the power goes off. I have a few UPS's which just needed new batteries, so I ordered a few batteries and will be looking at running the fans off the UPS's. @Ill_Evan a UPS to keep your air pump going is easy enough to do, I should end up with a spare - let me know if you're possibly interested. Does not make sense to run lights off a UPS, they draw too much power unfortunately.

  7. I use the gas lantern method for veg and flower. Flower is 8 on 16 off and it's working for me. Load shedding does piss me off too but if this continues and my plants gets affected then I'll be shutting down the indoor. Until.......nit sure.

  9. Hard to see what is happening in the last pic but I suspect those are calyxes and not pollen sacs.

  10. Thanks bud. This is the stuff... https://ppplastics.co.za/product/bidim-non-woven-geotextiles These are long ass rolls though! 75m-150m! I do remember now that someone mentioned that you can only get this stuff in a huge quantity not really viable for home DIY use. Unless we organise a collective purchase on the forum and split it

  11. With those temps, I think an aircon would probably be your best bet. In terms of yield, I run LED Quantum Boards with Samsung diodes (LM301B's) and in my small 1.2 x 0.6 tent (0.72sqm) I managed what I feel is a decent yield. I still need to weight my Chocolope once dry, although I am expecting around 350 - 380g dry in total from my harvest. I have 4x Quantum Boards which I feel is overkill and I ran them at a max of 360W, combined they are capable of 480W with the driver I have. If you were to look at efficiency (power) and the yield from space I think it's pretty good. 28C is the max I want my grow tent to be, hotter than that and I get worried and it will negatively affect your bud as the terps will start to degrade. Unless you acn pull in much cooler air, an aircon is probably your next best thing - a portable one will work if you can't or do not want to install a permanent mid-wall unit. A 12 000 BTU portable aircon is around R5 - R6k brand new, 2nd hand you can get some good deals. Remember that a portable aircon requires extraction and can also act as extraction - it has a pipe which blows out hot air and this will need to be blown outside directly, the fewer bends and the shorter the run, the more effective and efficient the portable aircon will be.

  12. At what times do you run your lights. If you are really looking into something that will help with temps there is ways. Like, getting an aircon for that room, or, create a passive airflow, or get an inline filter...... All that will cost you money. The ballast does give off a lot off heat and I had that same issue. But luckily I could mount it against a wall. Why not move it under the shed. Build a space for it in a way that there is natural airflow...... But I have another way. I have tried it last run and I'm doing it again. I use the Gas Lantern cycle or the 12-1 cycle. That way I could run my lights when it is night time and when I left for work the lights went out. They are on from 19:00 - 07:00. During the day the are off for 5.5 hours and then on for an hour and then off again for 5. 5 hours. Go and Google it and read up on it. It saves you money (electricity) and it saves young grow gear wear and tear by not running as long...
