  1. Looks like you back just in time to flip.

  2. Clones are another story... I have also had large success with cuttings in just a cup of water... Which pretty much boils down to the same thing. My bubbler though, has bubbles not to oxygenate the water, but rather to spit water droplets onto the stems of my cuttings.. I find a greatly increased rooting speed with this method.

  3. Battery operated aquarium air pump and candles is what I use to use in dwc. You gonna chance not running air in your buckets, that's like playing Russian roulette with root rot. My cousin is big into Kratky... baby marrows, tomatoes and some general vegetables. He's forever telling me to try it. I don't think it's advisable for cannabis though unless you enjoy a challenge. I've seen he's roots, they nothing compared to cannabis roots. Have a look for yourself and tell me if you will grow cannabis in water without air. Btw he also has black buckets and the insides look the same.

  4. Yeah, I assume the digital timers have a small battery inside which keeps it on and saves the settings if you unplug it / if its loses power for a bit. Regarding solar and batteries, the batteries are generally the bigger issue I think as they are not cheap and they have a limited lifespan. I always hear people talking about solar and companies too, the ones who sell you the equipment and try ensure you make a saving etc although I never hear them talk about the batteries and their lifespan and the fact that one has to replace them. On average batteries have a lifespan of 3 - 7 years, depending on the use and the type of battery. Let's work on 5 years as an average. A single 100AH 12v battery would allow you to draw upto 600W from it roughly before it wold need to be charged again. So if you are running 200W of lighting (actual draw from the wall) you would get at most 3 hours of use out of a single 600W battery. So to cover 18 hours without any charge / power would require 6x 100AH batteries. 200W for 18 hours is 3.6 KWH per day and 1 314KWH per year which equates to R2 102 per year at a rate of R1.60 per KWH. You'd be hard pressed to find a 100AH 12v battery for under R2500, around this price point they tend to be the flooded batteries which lean more towards the 3 year lifespan. So 6 batteries at R2500 = R15k 200W per day for a year = R2 102, for 5 years its R10k That excludes the solar panels and other equipment, although this does assume you want a system which can power your lights for a full 18 hours without any charge and mains power. I am no solar expert though. You could probably get away with fewer batteries too - although not sure how much charge one would get if you have over a week of rain and clouds like we did in Gauteng recently. Also the above is just a mere 200W being drawn. With the inefficiencies of the LED driver and the inverter you are probably looking at an actual output of 170W.

  5. Who else is getting absolutely wrecked with regards to loadshedding and their light schedules? I've been pretty lucky thus far but today my luck has run out. Expecting six hours off schedule to my lighting, flowering period nonetheless but if this continues I might be a little worried.. not sure how bad it's going to get in general though Anyways, more of a rant than anything..

  9. I've finally decided to open up the Grow Reports area. It's not 100% complete but its ready to start taking reports. A little explanation of what grow reports are: Grow Reports are not the same as grow diaries. It's a record submitted of a grow you have completed with a specific cultivar. Basically a summary of the grow and how that specific strain responded in your growing conditions. As you'll see when you add a new grow report, there's a bunch of criteria for you to submit. It's all self explanatory and it'll all make sense once you see it. You guys will essentially be beta testers so please let me know if you encounter any errors. Also please lemme know if you think there is more we can add to the grow reports. Always open to suggestions Here's the link to the grow reports page https://www.420sa.co.za/grow-reports/ You can also find the link in the main menu under the browse tab. You can also find an option to create a grow report under the "Create" or "+" button NOTE: GROW REPORTS AREN'T AND WON'T BE AVAILABLE ON TAPATALK

  10. So I've been out of the country for a week and a half and left the grow to a trusty novice to just help keep the reservoirs filled for me. This is what I came back to: Got quite the monster bush on my hands. Not too sure how much I'd like to defoliate or if even at all. I feel I've gotten a bit heavy handed with it in the past so I feel apprehensive about it. Plants looking super healthy though.

  11. Which timers do you use? The analogue ones? I have the digital ones and they do not get affected by loadshedding / power cuts. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

  12. Thabks Psyclown, unfortunately I am in Durban, going to builders warehouse today to check for those u shaped aluminium bars, I have decided to run 3 x 3000k and 3 x 4000k samsung strips at 1050mA which should translate to approx 150w true power which I think will suffice for my 90cm x 50cm area, still unsure about the height though, perhaps 1.5m should be good enough....

  13. So the pollen sacs popped on the one which was being sprayed with STS, pollen has been harvested and the mutant seedling is still busy growing.

  15. Just to be clear I meant the ballast and Lamp. I have seen these nifty travel cases for clones that the hydro shops sell. I'm sure if we really wanted to we could make a small box with a cheap battery LED. Secure the clone in there. Hope they stored in the right direction for most of its journey. Not sure on the legalities cos we not selling to each other. Are we allowed to gift plants? Hopefully one day we will be allowed too. We can build our own Alpha team, do collaborations etc. Run each other's cuts, see how they express themselves. And then there's local cannabis cups... fingers crossed to a bright cannabis future

  16. @PsyCLown yeah I hear you. If I grew only a few plants at a time I would try fight it. Unfortunately sometimes some strains are just more vulnerable to pm and mold. So I don't try battle it anymore, I'll chop those down to stop the spread. And get rid of their respective clones. I only want strong plants. Besides pm and mold, I start chopping 1 2 colas from here and there usually from around the day 40s. I enjoy the racey high now and then.

  17. @Ill_Evan Meh I wen through this last year and at the beginning of the year, it gave me sleepless nights. But remember when you start flowering the transitional stage is about 10-14 days. Also plants outdoor don't receive 18hrs direct sunlight. The only girls i move to sunlight is the clones.... The oxygen in the water..... once I forgot to turn it on for a week in mid summer, nothing happened! Ill start stressing when load shitting carries on for more as a week at stage 6.

  20. I use the gas lantern method for veg and flower. Flower is 8 on 16 off and it's working for me. Load shedding does piss me off too but if this continues and my plants gets affected then I'll be shutting down the indoor. Until.......nit sure.

  21. what I have been doing is putting a bright light (battery of course) in the room. A normal LED light with a magnet stuck to my grow light. did it for the time needed then turned off and reset time switch etc Just to make sure the room is noT in total darkness so your baby doesn’t think it’s night time and you can keep your 12/12 But ye - I wish light was my only problem atm good luck xoxo

  22. It sucks balls but luckily I'm flowering with a 8 on 16 off. So worst case I get 6 hours of light with only 1 or 2 hour loss some days.

  23. Haha, this is one of the downsides of regular seeds. I had the same issues with my previous grow when I was growing reg seeds. Ended up with more females than I could flower.

  24. Well I may be wrong, but so far all the plants are looking kinda female. Though the odds of that are low. But it leaves me with more plants than I was planning on raising. So I've been distributing them about the place; 2 in a nice sunny spot (the OG kush/Diesoline and one Candy with the same delicate sativa element, my favourites), one Candy in a less sunny spot - it's shooting up looking for light, and a Diesoline in a very sunny spot in a ceramic pot (seems happy). I dropped off a Gardeners Delight with my mother-in-law this morning. She is a gardener of note, but has never has anything to do with weed before. I can't wait to post pics of the mega-bush she is sure to grow in the retirement village garden.

  25. Hi GGG. I use floracoco nutes, but I use them in coco. The thing with floracoco is it's supposed to have enough calcium and magnesium that it doesn't need supplementation. It's fine for veg but when it comes to flower when we cut back on the grow part which contains the calcium, straight away there is not enough calcium in solution. So before you add any supplementation there is already more N then required in flowering. By using hortimix calmag you are increasing that N ratio and also hortimix calmag is not chellated so it locks with the extra phosphorus from the bloom part b. This whole dillema causes Ph swings and throws the ec off. So this is what I've found works. Epsom salts 1st, then chellated calcium from greenhouse feeding, chellated iron from builders and then part A. Mix reservoir for at least 5 mins and then add part b. And then MKP. Lastly Ph and feed. Fault finding would be to check ph and ec of runoff compared to what you putting in. You not suffering a deficiency, it's a lockout. Hope this helps. When your nutes are finished go to floraseries 3 part. Just the micro and bloom. It's easier to use and hortimix calmag works with it

  27. Thanks cannabist for your attitude towards what it means for us to get the real FIRE genetics to work with. If your supplier can order from empire breeding company, we don't need to look any further. Expensive but they stock the best of the best. Proper breeding stock. They even stock Loki's gear. On Friday I will be placing an order for a pack of darkhorse genetics original Bruce banner. It's the real deal. Too bad you don't stock their strawberry diesel f2, Bruce's mama. On average a 10pack is providing like 4 keepers and a choice of good studs. All my info is coming from private grower friends in the states that have become cannabis celebs since I've known them. These are the lines they currently working and the offsprings are off the chain. They not into breeding to sell seeds. They in it to be ahead of all the huge cultivation centres that are monopolizing their market. Just to avoid confusion I need to state that I haven't breed any seeds as yet in my growing career. I've come a long way as a grower, grown in many different styles. Since legalisation I started uping my game cos I love having 20 different strains to smoke. Variety is the spice of life. Run after run has always been about improving yield and quality. Nowadays things run on autopilot for the most part. I'm honestly tired off buying seeds and being disappointed with the mediocre results. My friends think I'm crazy and that my quality is up there but I know in my heart it's nothing compared to the real FIRE. It's lacking those exotic terps. So I've decided that I want to start making some seeds just for personal hunting and maybe share it with other local breeders if they interested. The one thing I'm proud off is my grow set up. I now have the facility in place to make seeds, pheno hunt and if need be, take seed making into proper breeding. Who knows where this leads too. Sorry for yapping guys... Peace
