For the hortimix, the online feeding program is for hydro and needs to differ a bit for soil and coco. I have found that my previously mentioned formula works well in coco... But adds too much nitrogen for soil applications. Which works okay in veg... But in bloom the nitrogen tox shows up pretty quick in my soil plants. Also... That hortimix schedule keeps getting higher and higher each week which does not work. You need to get to a level. Only way to do that is with an EC or ppm meter, do you have one?3 points

I feel some legal terms are being used incorrectly here. I don't believe any decriminalization has happened with regards to the use of cannabis; a legal precedent was set in Sept 2018 in accordance with already entrenched legal provisions, the most prominent being the Constitution of our country, which provides many rights one of which being our right to privacy. An argument was made that the use of cannabis as well as the cultivation for personal use of cannabis falls under this right to privacy and the court judges that the people should not be persecuted for doing so. The legality of the sale of cannabis seeds is the same now as it was before Sept 2018. It is illegal to sell any part of a cannabis plant. Does that mean it is illegal to sell seeds? It isn't defined. This is what we call a 'grey' market. As yet, to my knowledge, the authorities are not targeting the seed banks. If they felt that they wanted to target seedbanks and the import of cannabis seeds, I feel imo the circumstance can be argued in court with enough current legislation that a precedent would be set and vualá, we have a legal definition to follow. Unfortunately democracy means laws take forever to be written, so enjoy the limbo while it lasts2 points

Good idea to research your nutes. Hortimix is a ''hydro'' nutrient complex iirc. There are so many on the market, but rule of thumb for cannabis..... More N in veg than P and K More P and K than N on flower. Don't exceed maximum recommended ratios. @CreX suggestion on the ratios is a good starting point. 1. Aquire a ph/ec pen 2. Do a flush or water excessively for a few days to flush any buildup. 3. Feed maybe at 50% when you start again- whether the plant is in veg or flower. But veg plants get veg nutes and flowering plants get flower nutes. Otherwise you will develop toxic buildup. Cheers Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk2 points

nooooooo!!! If you go on with that you will kill your plants Plants grow.. they use more water.. the more they drink, the more they absorb. You give em more water and boost it. I would give them a 2 day flush.. just to get the levels down a bit. You most likely over did it ^^ If you are still learning the fertilizer, you need EC and ppm meter as CreX said.. or you will end in misery. "Lets give some more" is in most cases a killer. Get contact with a person more experience with the fertilizer you use.. and get some tips. (I got a complete introduction from a guy how to use Bio Bizz) When ever you want to increase your fertilizer amount.. never do that on all plants at once.. less frustrating. Soil is not like hydro and you have a fair chance to safe them, if you mess up.. but still.. serious fertilizer burn will ruin your harvest yield and make a very long curing time. Best is to make some bubble hash with that ^^2 points

My favourite strains to grow is Green Crack from Humboldt Seed Organisation. And Amnesia Haze from Nirvana seeds. I would like to grow Blueberry Muffin and Pineapple upside down cake from Humboldt Seed Co. On a next run. Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk2 points

This is probably a clever marketing ploy by the guys who made this video as the purpose of the video isn't to bring to light the title of this thread but it inadvertently does. They test a supposed landrace in the eastern cape that has been growing for "thousands" of years. What's interesting is that the strain tests 9% CBD and 3% THC. Something very uncharacteristic of other landraces in SA. Anyone know what landrace they referring to here? Transkei?1 point

Recently wrote this article about the paradox of cannabis seeds since decriminalization in SA. https://thehighco.co.za/are-cannabis-seeds-legal-in-south-africa/ My gut says that cannabis seeds are legal to buy and sell. What do you think... is it legal?1 point

Thanks for the calming words. Will use some time today to do more research on fertilizers in general and what cannabis plants prefer etc.1 point

Howzit@SAgrower Those plants look healthy enough and branches are heavy, nice. Agree with@CreX and@Prom, you will have to adjust your feeding gradually from veg ratios to flower ratios when the plants start flowering. Ramping up the nute ratios will kill your plants eventually. If you ''google'' hortimix you will find lots of info on the ''makeup'' of the nutes, so you should be able to adjust for the flowering ratios as mentioned by@CreX. Thank you so much for the warning. I will start them on a 2 day flush but will go and make a turn at the hydro shop perhaps tomorrow.1 point

Sjoe must be the real original madjad @420SA , my best guess its like the olden day madjad that "didn't get you high", but can give a headache if you smoke too much, if its not fake. It could be a marketing ploy, or by some chance I would think a field or two that has been inbred for generations (but 9% cbd....)(or somebody polinated a CBD heavy strain there). If there was a field with the dominant cbd trait, simialar to industrial hemp, that could then crossbred with the more potent TK's like Lisikisiki, just guesses. PortSaint Johns strains always had some hippy influence, EasternCape is a pretty big place and some massive fields, who knows. Any link?1 point

If your plants go very green and you do not know if that is good or bad, cut a fan leaf off and bend one of the fingers together. If it breaks in a funny way.. not a clean break but more jagged. The amount of nutrition in the leaf is to high and starts to crystallize. Give it a good flush for 2-3 days till the color goes more light and reduce your feeding amount. I personally never feed more as the max set by the producer. I do not know Hortimix, so I can't give any advice . But on Bio Bizz for instance, the 12 week table is for Autoflower. Using that table on a feminized will hurt her to kill her. Good example is a friend, he started his first proper grow this year. The cage plant pic is one of his (amnesia haze). He gave Fish-Mix in a 4ml per liter dosage when the plants were big and before flowering. That is the max Bio Bizz has on their 12 week table. I stay on 3ml per liter for instance.. enough in my opinion for thirsty fems and also a lot cheaper ^^ Then his plants went flowering and he just thought, lets jump to grow and bloom directly and gave 4ml per liter of each to the water. If you do not use "hard" fertilizer, mixed into the soil, your plants will drink nutrition when you water. If they get to much from something, they try to store it. If they run out of space for .. in his case to much P and K.. he ran into over nutrition problems. But flushed and went back to 2ml each... and plants went back to normal. How much fertilizer you have to add depends on the stage of your plant. The general rule is very simple.. is better to give less than to much. If you don't know what is correct.. always stick to the given limit of the producer, never raise by your own without knowing what you do. For my Autos, I follow that time table more or less 1:1 and just adapt it depending the time a plant needs.. 8-9 week plants.. you have to reduce those 12 weeks to fit the feeding.. same counts for plants needing more for time to finish. I really do not recommend to go over the limits you find written on the fertilizer1 point

Looks healthy to me but needs support. Plants realize, when their branches hang down from weight and stop production on those branches. I would suggest to "cage" those pots! Helps a lot to sort your branches for optimal sun and support when flowering.1 point

I found that instead of using brown sugar as a food source for the microbes you can use cooked brown rice as a substitute.1 point

What's surprising is its all regular tap water... They get watered daily... Nitrosol mix every 3rd week...moved into direct sun daily if wind is not too hectic like its been in Cape Town lately and back to garage at night1 point

How to wash and Buffer Coco Properly: 1. Rehydrate the 5kg Coco Brick in a 100l+ tote. Normal, chlorine tap water should be fine. I disinfected the tote with Starsan just to be sure there is no mold or mildew spores that can contaminate the Coco. I invest quite a lot of money and time in my grows, so I will rather be safe than sorry. I will therefor disinfect everything with Stars an before it touches the Coco. I make 1l in a spray bottle and just rinse everything with it. Note: the sanitizing is optional but advisable. 2. Make a slurry with the water and Coco. Drain all the rehydrated coco through a strainer. I drilled a few holes in a 10l bucket and is working very well for me. I also take a hose and run water through the Coco in the strainer to make sure I wash off any salts, dust and sand. Transfer the strained Coco to another clean tote. After the first run, you should find a lot of sand in the bottom of the Tote. (Picture attached) 3. Repeat step 2. 4. Add a calmag buffering solution (50g Calmag Nitrate to 20L water) to the rinsed Coco. Make sure the solution covers all the Coco. It should make a slurry as well like in step 2. Let it stand for 8-12 hours. 5. Strain and rinse the Coco again and transfer to a clean Tote. 6. Make a fresh buffering solution, add to the Coco and let it stand for another 8 hours. 7. Strain the Coco and press out excess water before transferring the Coco into grow pots. 8. Use Hydroponic nutes phed down to the nutrient specifications. I like to keep my Coco PH between 6.3-6.5. 9. Grow hydroponic product with the forgiveness of soil minus most of the diseases and pests.1 point

Grow is looking great!! I think part B has the bulk of the nitrogen being only calcuim nitrate, cut back a Lil on that one... But if you are following the feeding scheme hortimix provides, then you should be fine... And iv been telling these guys!! Milk helps so much for PM!!1 point

Geez, firstly my head is trying to process the information. But thank you to all that have shared their knowledge. Think this thread will help more then just me. So some of the breeders that have been mentioned, I dont even know of. My other question would be, where does one source these things or does one have to order directly from the breeders, themselves? With shipping costs, it can quickly become expensive.1 point
