..and we are back ere'body! With a bit of revision and some lessons learnt from the last incomplete grow, I am on the way with Royal Gorilla as well as a Grandaddy Purple. Royal Queen Seeds - Royal Gorilla Green Smoke Room Seeds - Gran Daddy Purple The plan is to ditch the scrog idea from last time. It's such a mission when coupled with DWC, which I am going to keep, but instead of 15L cooler box reservoirs I am going big with 30L cooler box reservoirs. This should assist in flowering with not having to fill my reses every day..maybe now every 2-3 days. So in order to maximise yield minus the scrog, I'll do an 8 way manifold by topping each plant a total of three times and using low stress training to get as much spread as possible. The Gran Daddy Purple has a shorter flowering time than the Royal Gorilla, this will need to be kept in mind closer to the end of flowering. There is a possibility it will need to be harvested sooner than the Royal Gorilla. I do not want to sacrifice either to a shorter or longer harvest period than necessary. Each plant will be harvested when either is ready in their own time. Beginning the veg stage now, I intend to use the coming colder months closer to flowering to induce as much colour in the GDP as possible, genetics be willing. I plan to top in-between nodes 3 and 4. I want to grow out the 3rd node on each plant as the main stems, and then do further toppings to get a total of 8 main stems for each plant. I will also attempt to get this 8-way manifold to be as initially flat as possible for support of the final buds and spread for yield. Tonight I decided to take off some of the bottom growth so the plants focus on growing everything above for now. I will top when the 3rd growth nodes have a bit more established growth to work with. ..I also didn't like how droopy the one looked so it was an aesthetic decision as well

Okes, there are local products that do the same as "Serenade". There is no reason to go and blow cash on a product that isn't even registered in SA. Second of all, both "Serenade" and the below local product are organic fungicides, meaning they contain organic bacteria which assists the plant with fending off conditions such as powdery mildew. They are meant as preventatives. You use it before you ever suspect a problem. If you have PM one year, then just get the below product and use it the following grow. PM is a bitch and is easier prevented than dealt with. Lastly, the overall health of the plant is also important. A healthy plant is less susceptible to disease and pests in general. Load shedding isn't a that big deal breaker. On Autos you loose growing time depending on your lighting schedule. I buffer that time.. but isn't also really needed either, Autos just a bit smaller. Stage 1-4 you just go 24/0 during veg and shouldn't run into any issue for premature flowering. If they get freaky and go Stage 6 or more again, you will run into issues, if you don't produce artificial battery light. But you can also bridge that with 1-2 LED light from PnP. Just do it! Greenhouse brings advantages and disadvantages.. easiest growing you get in a tent, as you can control the climate yourself.. the better you do that, the better is your result.. and some green thumbs help too

Hello there! Newbie grower here, this is part of a grow I started in 2019 which failed, I left the outdoor plants outside, and they naturally went into flower this year (as I have recently learned), so I now notice these brown spots on this one, please advise! They are in a very old and basic culterra potting mix which I have learned not to use. Thanks

Hi lucid, Sadly that looks like a bit of budrot. You can try pull the infected bits out to see if the Cola can be saved. What plans do you have for your next grow, assuming you pressing forward with this glorious hobby

If they are outside they will start flowering at this time of the year with the sun at under 13hr a day regardless what tipe of plant it is. Flowering takes a minimum of 8 week dependent on strain but usually round about 10-12 weeks, sometimes more. Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk

I still think milk would do wonders. 5050 in water and spray... Do that once a week for 3 weeks and your pm will be very low to nill. @PsyCLown @Mambawana And a few other members have had great success with milk.

I want to focus on the highest quality bud I can grow for myself, so that I can vape it, and take shots of it for online stock photo/video. My partner will make infused experiments with baking, cannabutter etc... I want to learn with say, 2-4 plants indoor, giving me a variety of challenges and learning opportunities. I also prefer LED lights. I am looking at spending under R10k. I am focused on quality over quantity.

You'll be able to do a full grow with a setup like that no problem. You'll just need to sort your actual growing medium and type. In a setup like this, I'd personally do 4 x 20L fabric pots with Living Organics Soil, and throw in a scrog net as well to maximise yield considering that LED. I've seen guys start out with worse LED's, the Apollo series isn't terrible but it's also not the greatest. Just keep that in mind when imagining expectations. It's a phenomenal price for that combo. All you would really need to upgrade is the LED to a 250W QB. From there it's a bigger tent and beyond.

@Daniel-J, those vortex brewers look proper, and are proper, but are pretty pricy... I wouldn't pay for any of the ones that are not vortex, as they are all much over much... And you can make them at home... 20l bucket, airstone... Bam! Tea brewer Let me know what way you are leaning... DIY, or a professional touch.

Umm, honestly I have never bothered looking into such a kit as what I want has always been quite specific. That Apollo light is not something I personally would purchase, however I can understand the appeal behind a kit as it is convenient and I expect a discount over purchasing the equipment separately. Perhaps share with us what you have in mind and a budget and the members can advise whether there are better options out there or not and help make suggestions.

Thanks CreX, I will pull them out gently a bit later, hope the rest of the bud will still be good. I'm still trying to figure out plans for next grow, I really want to do indoor, but load shedding worries me about having to do extra work, or spend more to not do extra work. I actually really want to do a greenhouse-indoor hybrid, that way I get the control of my mini-ecosystem, but also the magic of the sun. Any suggestions for me?

Indoor I do remove (fix light).. Outdoor I don't (moving light).. or only if forced by a epidemic One of my usual plants (picture taken a few mins ago) And patient Zero from this year after the defoil because of powdery mildew.. was as bushy before. Weather just way to wet in Feb But got her clean

If you want to do a budget light go Growopz you cannot go wrong. If you want to spend a bit more and have great after sales service go aeradix. Go check on aeradix's and growopz instagram accounts. There is some good feedback and pics.

How much energy is used by the fixture to make PAR available to your plants (measured as Photon Efficiency).

This is the old spec light. The effieciencies of these lighta are not the best. You can grow with it. You will have good success. If it was me buying lights, I would look at the lights from growopz and aeradix. Hope this gives you more options. The migro channel on youtube also gives you a good idea of what lights are better.

@Bospatrollie2 Such a beautiful happy plant... can see she likes her daddy. She generally is a nice plant to grow. If you veg her longer then 6 weeks she gives very good yields. She's a bit of a PM magnet. And also she sometimes throws a few nanners in her top buds just when she's almost ready to come down. I chop her before I see amber because those nanners freak me out. She's a real problem child at times... But when it's all done and you smoke her for the first time, you will know it was worth it. She's very glue leaning so high thc straight to the head

@420sake that sounds great man, breeding does take some foresight and a clear idea of where the strains need to go. It seems that a lot of the strains going around SA at the moment is very susceptible to PM, local outdoor selections will us to create some very resistant plants over time.
