We have another new page on 420SA! The Classifieds Previously we have been running the classifieds as another regular forum board. As a result, creating the adverts were tedious. Now we have a dedicated classifieds area which is categorised, laid out in a specific way and tailored for advert submission, which I hope will make things be much easier. If you have any input on how we can improve the our classifieds area please comment below hope you guys like it. What' will happen to the old classifieds board? As of today, the old classifieds won't be taking in any new adverts. The current adverts will be left to run until sold and members will be able to reply. I do advise you move your advert over to the new Classifieds though. The classifieds board under the forum will then eventually be removed.4 points

Sup 420SA family! Decided to create a diary for all my rescue cases, I don't always grow in optimum ways, sometimes I challenge my plants, bad luck strikes, and a lot of the time I just do something stupid. Plants in need of rescue get donated to me from time to time, this will also be their diary. Follow along as I try to nurse em back to health, preserve some genetics and learn how to fix my mistakes. Feel free to give me advice, share your knowledge and experiences.2 points

Last week I only watered her with a bit of Epsom salts to provide some Mg, and yesterday I topdressed with the following. Roughly 2 tablespoons of Dolomite Lime. Another 2 tablespoons of Epsom salts. 1 tablespoon of DE to provide some silicate to the soil. Will keep an eye on how she responds and most likely give her another light dressing next week.2 points

RDWC with scrog is the goal already got a design ready, just need the space2 points

@Ill_Evan Hey you back... Looking forward to seeing dwc in action again. Yeah scrog and dwc is tricky. That's why there's rdwc... that must be your next conversion. Having 1 small common reservoir outside your tent cuts the work load big time. Looking forward to seeing you knock this one out the park.2 points

This Hawaiian Snow cutting was cut down by my dog earlier in the season, it had only a few tiny leaves left from which it had to regrow. It has been showing signs of Mg and Ca deficiencies, interveinal chlorosis Mg and then the severe leaf curl I think is from a shortage of Calcium. Ca being a immobile element it show up towards the top and the Mg is mobile so usually shows up at the bottom of the plant. I happen to know this strain is a heavy feeder on Ca and Mg, so I will treat her accordingly.2 points

..and we are back ere'body! With a bit of revision and some lessons learnt from the last incomplete grow, I am on the way with Royal Gorilla as well as a Grandaddy Purple. Royal Queen Seeds - Royal Gorilla Green Smoke Room Seeds - Gran Daddy Purple The plan is to ditch the scrog idea from last time. It's such a mission when coupled with DWC, which I am going to keep, but instead of 15L cooler box reservoirs I am going big with 30L cooler box reservoirs. This should assist in flowering with not having to fill my reses every day..maybe now every 2-3 days. So in order to maximise yield minus the scrog, I'll do an 8 way manifold by topping each plant a total of three times and using low stress training to get as much spread as possible. The Gran Daddy Purple has a shorter flowering time than the Royal Gorilla, this will need to be kept in mind closer to the end of flowering. There is a possibility it will need to be harvested sooner than the Royal Gorilla. I do not want to sacrifice either to a shorter or longer harvest period than necessary. Each plant will be harvested when either is ready in their own time. Beginning the veg stage now, I intend to use the coming colder months closer to flowering to induce as much colour in the GDP as possible, genetics be willing. The Setup 80x80x180 Grow Tent 250W Quantum Board with Potentiometer and Current/Voltage Reader 2 x 30L DIY DWC Air pump + Air Stones Clip Fan Sonoff TH16 Wifi Switch + Temp/Humidity Sensor I have connected a Sonoff switch to the exhaust system which acts as a temp/humidity reader and can be used to automate the exhaust to operate depending on temp/humidity perimeters if need be. The device plus the sensor cost me R480. First Few Weeks of Veg Plant on the left is Royal Gorilla, plant on the right is GDP. Will update at major milestones1 point

I like the thread idea Even I challenge my plants sometimes just for the basic reason of seeing what happens. Recently tested some seedlings at a very high EC and now I know what a seedling/plant looks like if the EC is too high. Big brain! When would you expect the plant to respond to the feed?1 point

If the two pots that did not receive soil from builders is looking better than those that received, I would also assume that you got some biological lifeforms included in the deal. The soil biz is a dirty one, potting soils should be sterilized and then inoculated with beneficials, don't know how many soil companies bother with this.1 point

Thanks will do. Something that just occurred to me. Last week I bought some potting soil from builders to just ensure all of the roots are covered because some of the small fine roots were on top of the soil. There are 2 pots which did not receive that soil, the others are all looking the same as the pictures I posted. Could this just be a coincidence?1 point

I will do some serious inspection today thanks for all of the help, hopefully this grow doesn't go to shit.1 point

The expo, D-day and marches have all been cancelled or postponed. Sucks that the biggest 2 months for cannabis in SA have lined up with the country's shutdown. https://thehighco.co.za/south-africas-cannabis-events-cancelled/ What other 420 friendly events have been cancelled?1 point

Good Morning.. not sure is a good one for you SAgrower. This is hard... really hard to tell.. I would say you have fungi, root and Caterpillar/Grasshopper issues.. but would really need to feel the leaves and see the full plant. So very much please please.. others might have better information. The holes are your smallest issue.. when you pulled the plant yesterday, did you smell at the roots? You smell very easy if you have root rot. Sorry.. pictures just keep me guessing..1 point
-
Hi @SAgrower , you got some insect and bug problems there, the little holes in the leaves most likely a kind of Caterpillar, some of it looks like leafminers, but the biggest issue is what looks to me like rust/blackmold. The plants are far into flowering to suggest any treatments (in my opinion), except, defoliate as much of the infected/damaged leaves, keep a close eye and chop when she's done, plants in serious stress will usually finish up faster.1 point

Picked this up at the local boeremark, at R150/500ml. Will test during next indoor grow. Hoping that local will be lekker.1 point

Does this look normal? All of my plants are suffering for some reason and I cant figure it out. I had to chop a plant yesterday because it appeared to just be dying. They are actually getting worse by the day.1 point

They did take some strain... But once the rain stopped and with a little bit of my help all was fine again. Just need tomorrow to be nice and sunny so things can dry up. Last thing I would want is buds rotting more especially my seeded gals.1 point

That wasn't a rookie mistake. Was never gonna trellis dos plants. They were control plants that I've exposed to the elements on purpose. Not saying I wanted them to break but yeah it happened. But I did trellis the important ones. My breeding gals and my experiment amnesia were unharmed. All still standing strong. I did make a rookie mistake this grow... allowing PM on the control plants when my intake to my flower room is close by... And now I have some spots of PM indoors...1 point

I plan to top in-between nodes 3 and 4. I want to grow out the 3rd node on each plant as the main stems, and then do further toppings to get a total of 8 main stems for each plant. I will also attempt to get this 8-way manifold to be as initially flat as possible for support of the final buds and spread for yield. Tonight I decided to take off some of the bottom growth so the plants focus on growing everything above for now. I will top when the 3rd growth nodes have a bit more established growth to work with. ..I also didn't like how droopy the one looked so it was an aesthetic decision as well1 point

Schweet, this is a good start. In that case, I would stand behind my initial opinion. I think that Futurama combo is a great idea considering the price. You will be able to learn everything you need to with that setup and from there you will know how and what to do going forward. I personally grow in a tent that exact size and if you scrog you will be able to get a good yield without sacrificing quality. When it comes to hydro/soil/coco decision, that depends on mostly personal interest, and how much you'd be willing to spend on accessories such as pH, EC meters etc.1 point

Okes, there are local products that do the same as "Serenade". There is no reason to go and blow cash on a product that isn't even registered in SA. Second of all, both "Serenade" and the below local product are organic fungicides, meaning they contain organic bacteria which assists the plant with fending off conditions such as powdery mildew. They are meant as preventatives. You use it before you ever suspect a problem. If you have PM one year, then just get the below product and use it the following grow. PM is a bitch and is easier prevented than dealt with. Lastly, the overall health of the plant is also important. A healthy plant is less susceptible to disease and pests in general. @Lucid-grower, Hit up canabist in the registered business section and he will help you with some sweet seeds. Once you have a bit of a rep around here, you will notice that most peeps like to trade genetics, cuttings, seeds, ideas... Stick around and you won't go wrong!!1 point

Those brown dry buds look suspiciously like bud rot or dry rot. The fungus is pretty nasty and can spread, I would suggest removing all that are affected carefully, so you don't spread the spores. If it is fungus, those buds are useless anyway. If you cut branches it might be a good idea to seal them with a commercial sealer or a honey and powder cinnamon mix to prevent infection. I would suggest you topdress that pot with a 5-10cm layer of medium/compost. Roots dont like being exposed to light/air. Could always place the brick on top of the compost if you need extra weight. Currently working in a hydro store. It was the first opportunity that I came across that could get my foot into the door into the industry. Before working at the store I thought of working on a farm and doing medium to large commercial production somewhere in the world. Nowadays something small and personal like @CreX's idea sounds much nicer. Little spot with some plants and a vibe.1 point

If I had to choose one of your top 5 jobs... It would definitely be the master grower part. I would love to have a cannabis coffee parlor, where I have a small room to grow a few plants... Nothing fancy and not my main grow... But just for people to view when they come grab a spliff or a coffee. I'd love to be a waiter in my own shop so I can tell the customers about each strain on the menu with their various intricacies. Actually I'd actually love a hydro store, with a coffee shop as the main attraction. That's my end goal1 point
