High folks Been a while since I've run a diary. My previous one had to be abruptly aborted around September last year due to a number of circumstances and due to the immense heat around here during the months of November, December and Jan I decided to take a break for a few months. I got things going again around mid January. I'm keeping it small and economical for now but will build up for a bigger grow in the winter. Seeds Germinated: Humboldt Seeds Org. - Blue Dream G13 Labs - Pineapple Express (Freebie) DNA Genetics - Lemon OG Kush (Freebie) - Seedling damped off while I was away and died Dinafem - Purple Orange CBD - Germed late February Equipment & Materials: 1.5m x 1.5m Grow Tent Lighting - Makeshift chinese LED's for Veg(works fine!) and 400w HPS for Flower 6 " Exhaust Passive Intake Soil Used - My seedling/veg soil mix for seedlings and veg. My living soil mix for 1 week of veg and the rest of flower Nutrients used to date - None Other inputs - Explogrow and Sprouted Seed Tea. Compost teas and coconut water to be used in the upcoming weeks Training: Topping Supercropping LST 25 February - Pineapple Express(Left), Blue Dream(Right), Purple Orange CBD(Middle) 16 March - 18 days into flower - Pineapple Express(Left), Blue Dream(Right) The Purple Orange CBD will be joining them a little bit later Will keep the updates coming this time!5 points

Additional note. You can't put in a bigger breaker if you need more watt room. The breaker is there to protect the cable in the wall. If you put a bigger breaker in, you run the risk of over loading your cable infrastructure and causing a fire or just burning your cable out. You will need to confirm the cable size and hope they have underrated the wire, or run a new bigger cable to the grow op5 points

Hi, P (W) = V (Volts) x I (Amps) 1500 = 220 (mostly in SA) X I So, I = 6.818 Or, a 20 A breaker can handle about 4 400 W4 points

That was quick. Thnx man. Was about to install another breaker, now i can save that expense.2 points

Hey guys long time. quick question...... would the regular 20amp breakers support more than 1500w without tripping? How much can they support. How much watts are you guys pulling on a 20amp breaker?1 point

We have another new page on 420SA! The Classifieds Previously we have been running the classifieds as another regular forum board. As a result, creating the adverts were tedious. Now we have a dedicated classifieds area which is categorised, laid out in a specific way and tailored for advert submission, which I hope will make things be much easier. If you have any input on how we can improve the our classifieds area please comment below hope you guys like it. What' will happen to the old classifieds board? As of today, the old classifieds won't be taking in any new adverts. The current adverts will be left to run until sold and members will be able to reply. I do advise you move your advert over to the new Classifieds though. The classifieds board under the forum will then eventually be removed.1 point

Was going to do the first topping tonight but the plants looked a little sulky since the defoliation yesterday so I checked everything and it seemed all was within limits but by chance I discovered the pH pen was not accurate. Gave it a collaboration and decided to just reset the res with some fresh water and nutes as well as bump the EC up slightly. Got myself a brix meter and have been playing around with it on some tomato plants recently. Decided to use it on the current grow and start recording the brix of these two plants at certain intervals. Brix can fluctuate during the day, before and after feeds, or in retaliation to stress. I'll be using it to determine general health of the plants as well as their reactions to reservoir changes. I took a measurement of the brix when I did the first few cuts the last update and I recorded a measurement of 5. We are aiming to get that above 12 at peak veg and as far into the 20's in flower. It is said that a brix level of above 12 means your plant will be resistant to disease and pests and will be overall healthy. A brix level of above 20+ is said to create almost crystal-like trichomes on your buds. So let's measure and see what happens1 point

Day 49 from seed. Ladies doing well, just topped this week. Putting up the SCrog net ,just to help, keep these girls, manageable. Feeding fermented plant juice (FPJ),lactic acid bacteria (LAB), aerated it, for 12 hours . Clones not looking, as great as I would like, them to be. But I know now, that I took "poor" clones. But should be straight, in a week or 2.1 point

Yeh the babies in soil take a bit longer to show improvements, but to a degree there is always change, this morning the Hawaiin is looking nice and perky, she might pray to the sun today! The new growth is usually what we have to gauge as the old growth hardly improves/repairs itself. This time of year the thin leaved Sativa varieties like this Hawaiian flowers out quite well at 12/12 with quite a lot of stretch. Plants like her in preflowering stages can still get pushed, as long as there is enough direct sun, I try aim for at least 8 hours, gets difficult into winter without the right location.1 point

I've also heard of people using extensions from another plug that is on another breaker. I would try and use more efficient lights first.1 point

You find solar calculators all over the place. It depends how much you consume.. same counts for the borehole pump. If you want to drink the water, run it though a filter. Just calculate all the wattage from the gear you want to run over a 24 hour cycle.. and then check with a company (for example: https://www.exsolar.co.za/) how much the system would cost. I suggest to go with a hybrid system and not a pure off-grid setup.1 point

Schweet. Reason I ask, the suckers that didn't make it into my DWC are now blomming outside in some coco and I have another one in soil. Just screwing around, I doubt anything remarkable will come from cannabis starting to grow outside at this time of year, but also didn't want to just chuck those seedling out. The one in soil started getting a bit pale so I gave it some feed and now waiting for a result. I'm so used to having results within a few hours with DWC1 point

Thanks @Ill_Evan I think in this week I should be able to see a nice change, it was just an simple amendment, but im hoping that by next week there will be no more new leaves with deformities. She might show show some N deficiencies soon, if that's the case i'll try to find a creative solution, or just feed her some nutrients (which she could prob use).1 point
