Aweh....fellow Greenfingers. The potted Vanilla Kush lady showed good colours, mostly milky with a dash of amber. Trimming was a breeze, 5 days drying and into the jars the went. All told she weighed in at 143gr dry. Blazed some testers and MAN were they tasty. A sweet almost fruity scent, tastewise wise we still undecided- mix between pineapple sugus and winegums. Hahaha.... It was all good. Can't wait for the Big Girl. Awesome stuff thanks for the beans @Dank3 points

All those amendments added up to almost a tablespoon of dry amendments that was added. The aim is to have this system be continuous and recycling, Running for a long while to break down everything that gets added. Hopefully works like wine and only get better with time? whenever I take out some "nutes" from the bottom RES I will add the same amount of clean water to the top and have that filter though to the bottom and have all of that recycle through the system again. I finished a second system lastweek and was thinking of doing this one with more phosphorus and potassium inputs, like grind up pumpkin seeds, coffee grounds, bat guano, lucerne meal, mushroom compost and a few other. This is all experimental and going to be a learning curve. If this is possible to do from seed to harvest in hydro with these "nutes" added will it be considered an organic hydro grow?2 points

Congrats on the harvest @Bospatrollie2 ! Super stoked that the early taste is good, sugus and winegums sound right, should smell like a candystore when trimming! These buds usually taste best after about a month in the jar (some phenos can taste bitter until 4 weeks+), and the effects will be much stronger when she is all cured Thanks for all the effort man, when our country switches on again we must talk about a pack you would like from the @Cannabist store, I think you deserve the prize I mentioned in the Spring drop last year, Peace and Buds bro, very cool experience watching your diaries, thanks again!1 point

Those are some great ammendments!! All stuff you can make a sweet tea out of... Do yourself a flavour and get a jar of unsulfated blackstrap mollasses and give them a treat All those extras though, are best left to cook in a compost pile before you use them, as a little will go a long way haha. What are you going to do in flower when you don't need as much nitrogen and need more phosphorus and potassium?1 point

We have another new page on 420SA! The Classifieds Previously we have been running the classifieds as another regular forum board. As a result, creating the adverts were tedious. Now we have a dedicated classifieds area which is categorised, laid out in a specific way and tailored for advert submission, which I hope will make things be much easier. If you have any input on how we can improve the our classifieds area please comment below hope you guys like it. What' will happen to the old classifieds board? As of today, the old classifieds won't be taking in any new adverts. The current adverts will be left to run until sold and members will be able to reply. I do advise you move your advert over to the new Classifieds though. The classifieds board under the forum will then eventually be removed.1 point

@CreX thanx for the advice will keep some Nutes close by. I have the system running for about 3 weeks now and got a positive reading for nitrate. Not sure my knowledge on this subject is nearly enough to be able to determine if it is the right food for the plants. I have a plant that received some of this solution and she seems happy. No Nutes in the Res,only AACT and that "nitrate water". She is going into week 3 of flowering I topped up with some more clean water and added a few more things to the top. (EWC, dried banana peel, kelp meal, insect frass, blood meal, turbo grow, mycoroot). Guess I should do some more research, but doing this as I go will give me a better understanding of what's happening and what is needed. All advice is greatly appreciated.1 point

Sounds simple enough to do... But you will need to reset the system fairly often to avoid incorrect buildup of nutes in the water. I wouldn't do this route unless you are convinced of your talents and are able to identify issues in the plants and make adjustments to your feed accordingly. Which with the microbes taking time to do the breaking down, might not happen fast enough to rectify the problems I think a store bough solution as a backup while you figure it all out will be useful1 point

Chop chop I like to leave a nice chunk behind after a top. The growth node becomes nice and beefy which helps the plant support itself later just before harvest when the buds are their ripest. Took another reading with the refractometer. The Royal Gorilla measured in at 9 and the GDP at 7. So we have an increase since the last measurement. Will be some time till another measurement is taken. The next topping will be between the 3rd and 4th nodes of each of the two stems now growing on each plant. The 2nd nodes will be removed as well at the time of topping. Now we wait until the stems are long enough to slowly start low stress training (LST). At the rate the plants are growing, I'd say training will start in two days.1 point

The forest of delight is starting to get yummy. 1/2. The GG cut from @Mambawana Looking pretty, she's putting on weight and started leaning over, will be needing extra support. 3/4. Our FruitPunch lady doing what she does best and getting top heavy. We had some heavy rain for a few days last week, some of the outdoor ladies started drooping. I'm assuming it was a sign of ''over watering'',luckily the rain stopped and they all looking perky again.1 point

Was going to do the first topping tonight but the plants looked a little sulky since the defoliation yesterday so I checked everything and it seemed all was within limits but by chance I discovered the pH pen was not accurate. Gave it a collaboration and decided to just reset the res with some fresh water and nutes as well as bump the EC up slightly. Got myself a brix meter and have been playing around with it on some tomato plants recently. Decided to use it on the current grow and start recording the brix of these two plants at certain intervals. Brix can fluctuate during the day, before and after feeds, or in retaliation to stress. I'll be using it to determine general health of the plants as well as their reactions to reservoir changes. I took a measurement of the brix when I did the first few cuts the last update and I recorded a measurement of 5. We are aiming to get that above 12 at peak veg and as far into the 20's in flower. It is said that a brix level of above 12 means your plant will be resistant to disease and pests and will be overall healthy. A brix level of above 20+ is said to create almost crystal-like trichomes on your buds. So let's measure and see what happens1 point

Evening fellow Greenfingers, The Vanilla Kush Cookie ladies are putting on a beautifull show. Both the earth bound and the potted lady are pushing awesome spires - 30 and 40cm's respectively at the moment. They are an easy strain to grow imo and impressive thus far, scents are developing nicely and getting interesting. A few more cm's stretch and those colas will be epic. Been feeding them banana, apple and molasses smoothies blended with the Ecobuz and epsom. They love the aact in between as they're always praying after. Luckily mother nature filled up the jojo's so there's plenty rainwater to keep them hydrated. Cheers vir eers.1 point
