  1. Now is a good time to plant root vegetables. Sweet potato, turnips, beetroot etc. You'll be thankful a stretch into the coming depression...their is no way the global economy is walking out of this alive. We are a generation that has been spared from global catastophe until now. We've only heard about world wars, epidemics, and the like. Well here's ours...busy taking its place in the history books right next to the likes of the spanish flu. If history is any teacher, this will be the hardest decade or more ahead we will face. As a family we are already a plane crash waiting to happen. It's only a matter of time before we run out of altitude. We were unable to fully prepare for the initial lockdown, never mind the extension, or the fallout after that. This is a 'Phoenix moment'...and out of these ashes, who knows what our world will look like. People may actually start appreciating each other again...

  2. Ahoy. Thanks man. It's been a while yeah. I've been off the scene for a bit. We'll see how it goes.

  3. Oh yeah, was just about to say, picking out the seeds when preparing for a smoke will probably be the only down side? The difference in potency from the plant having to invest energy into seeds while flowering will most probably be unnoticable, she might put out little bit smaller buds than she would've, maybe not even, but things like that might differ. The weed is still weed, though. How about making some extracts or something?

  4. Howzit guys? We all knew that the extension would happen and there'll most likely be another and another. But one thing is certain, we are unraveling here at home. We find that if we stay out of each others way, there's calm. Hahaha. Personally I think the lock down was timed well. And I'm glad that most people are doing their bit to flatten the curve. I do however have an issue with the stuff that's not being sold. At least allow us to buy hardware supplies at the stores who ALREADY carry them, like Pnp. I have some home maintenance to do, but simple things like silicone sealer is right there, on the shelf, but you can't buy it. Now is the time to get your place in order, but my hands are tied. I suppose i shoulda ran to the shops in the week leading up to lock down, but i was weary of the crowds. Then there's theory's on WTF is actually going on? Are they using COVID-19 as a blanket name for every other cold/flu circulating the world and that's what making the numbers look the way they do? Social media and fake news is a problem. Are there major things happening in the back ground? Effectively this is changing the way the world operates and sets the tone going forward. WHAT IS THE TRUTH?

  5. I don't see why not. Depending on how far along into flower she is, you can try and remove the pollen sacs as you find them until she is ready or just leave it and accept the fact there may be some seeds in the bud. Regardless not the end of the world and I'd certainly keep the bud and smoke it still. I think it's safe to assume most of us have smoked a fair bit of outdoor with seeds, this will just be indoor with seeds. No issue really, maybe a bit of an inconvenience to grind but that is about it.

  6. Another week, and not much change really. Buds are bulking up slowly but surely. She isnt wasting a cm of her branching, there is a mass of flowers everywhere.

  7. If it was me I would not over complicate your grow. The soil looks good. I would give no nutrients. This soil should have enough in it. I would maybe read up on compost tea's and make it 2-3 times just to give the microbial life in the soil a boost. The plsnt should do the rest. My philosophy is to stary with a good soil and then Kiss. Keep it simple stupid. Just dont over water it.

  8. I would just replace the sheds roof with clear roof sheets and add some Led lights if you want to give some suplemental light. For insulation maybe some iso board if you really want to add it.

  9. I understand couriers are still operating, but not so sure if it is for all products. As for me, working from home, so minimal change except I no longer have the travelling frustration. Not sure it's going to be an easy transition back into 'the norm', it's day 6 for me... Stock levels are decent, and should survive up to a 6 week lockdown. Alcohol and cigarettes will run out soon, actually, shortly lol, so my nicotine addiction will be broken even if the lockdown is only 21 days. As good a time as any to stop I guess. 10. Hi guys, the plan is to chow her down for hanging as the flush has been going on for 12 days now, the trichomes look cloudy but are not amber as yet though, any thoughts.... Sent from my SM-N970F using Tapatalk

  11. Good day. From Northern Suburbs, CPT. Really interested in growing my first plant. I know it is not the best time of year... tried twice almost got it the second time. I learned a bit along the way... first seed did not germinate successfully (I was a bit inpatient). Second seed I tried was a Autoflower Feminized... started in a 260ml container... wanted to transplant to 10/12 liter container. Plant looked good bit was very small after 2 weeks (after I put it into soil). - kept it indoors for the first 10 days (window sill) I want to try again... going to plant directly into “Final Pot” (after germination). Soil Medium: The Grow Station - Organic Living Soil Is this soil ok for the Autoflower? Water +- 6 PH - First two weeks only water... not allot Bought this for nutrients: Wonder - All purpose plant food - Started with half recommended dosage after two weeks in soil Transplant seemed to kill the plant - leaves yellow - I know it could be one of 10 things but yeah I think it was the transplant. Seed I want to use next: - Bruce Banner Auto Fem Any advice will be awesome.

  12. I have a plant that went hermie very late into flower, in buds already formed, frosty and dense. She/he has unfortunately hermied with pollen sacs on the bud. At this stage, I'm doubting if the pollen is viable or if she is seded. Q. Is she worth harvesting and smoking?

  15. Hi guys, Call me Jane I've been growing plants outdoors and have been quite successful with it. I would like to convert my shed into an indoor grow room and would like advise. The sheds dimensions are: 3.4m x 3.4 x 2m Could I get a large LED light or two and use insulation to line the walls for reflection? I would rather set up my own grow room than have a tent but I am open to suggestions I'm wanting to plant 10 to 12 plants at a time no less Please give me suggestions and referrals to people who have built their own rooms before and who can help me source out the parts and things I need I am in Benoni, East Rand Maryjanesbenoni@gmail.com

  16. Got some more pics for you @PsyCLown. Leaving the switch to after the weekend. Also bumped the EC up to 1.1 and running the LED at just below 200W. It was suggested to me to run at 160W during grow and flower but I want to see what the extra oomph will do. Honestly just kinda playing around.

  17. Had that happen before, harvested the plant and it was a decent smoke. Time is the issue, any risk of pollinating other ladies? Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  18. I hope the darkness ripens her up a bit more for you, let us know how she turns out and if the trichs became more amber? That big bud plant is one bushy bush hahah I know trimming and cutting back isn't really an issue when it comes to autos, but I'm sure removing the larf from the inside of the plant will help her direct more energy and all the good stuff to the tops, will also help with airflow if that's ever a problem. As I have never grown autos, I really can't say what to expect with the harvest, but just by looking at the pic I would have to guess somewhere around the 50g mark. Would love to see the buds when they're ready!

  20. Firstly I would not recommend you use an autoflower, although if you have to grow outdoors since we're going into winter perhaps it does not make much of a difference as a photoperiod would start to flower early on too. I do not know that soil, although it's possible that the soil is too hot (too many nutes in the soil) for the seedlings if they're dieing or the PH could be an issue. Such problems are not uncommon when it comes to soil. The cold in winter will slow down the plan'ts growth, another reason an autoflower isn't ideal as regardless of size it will start to flower somewhere between 3 and 5 weeks so yield may be reduced heavily. I personally like to use nutes, the one you have is not something I would use but I am sure it will work alright during the veg part of the grow - as others have mentioned you will need a different nute when the plant is in flower. With watering, do not over water and do not underwater. Basically water the plant but give it time to dry out a bit - do not keep the soil wet all the time, in 20L fabric pots in flower I tend to water every 3 to 4 days. When the plants are smaller they drink less and therefore you will probably water less often. You'll have to guage it, I like the top layer to dry out a bit before I water again and this worked well for me. Get started and keep us posted on your progress, if you are unsure of anything ask and we can guide you through the process of your first successful grow.

  21. My concern with this would be heat in summer, I think it would get too hot then. Regardless in summer I think it will probably get too hot and therefore you'd need an AC running in there. That is quite a large space, you will require quite a few LED lights to get decent output, with that being said you will be able to fit way more than 12 plants inside there. I do not agree with needing 4000+ true watts, I reckon you could get away with around 18 to 20 LED QB's, which equates to around 2000W in power and they're dimmable so during veg dim them down. This will give you more than your desired 12 plants, in fact 9 QB's will easily cover 12 plants but not the entire space. Your electricity bill will increase a lot with 2KW of lighting if you are running the full 2KW during flower that equates to an additional 744 units per month and at a rate of R1.70 per unit works out to R1 264.80 on a 12 hour cycle. Then also take into consideration a heater in winter, an Aircon in summer, other electrical stuff such as fans. Probably an extra R1500 to R2k per month in electricity alone. The initial equipment is going to cost you a small fortune, if you can get QB's for R5k for 2 that is R45k for 18 QB's or R50k for 20. If you only want to do 12 plants then 8 or 10 QB's will suffice and at R5k local price for this many would be R20k or R25k and you may only find the lights at a higher price too. Unfortunately the exchange rate has gone to shit so importing lights at the moment is a bit steep too, the R5k for 2 QB's is based on local pricing with the current stock. If these suppliers had to order new stock the price would increase quite a bit. To help lower costs do some research into importing your own QB's maybe, you could probably still save despite the higher exchange rate... Regardless the initial setup is going to cost you. If you plan to go hydro, once again heat in summer could be an issue. Do not want your res temp too high so an AC would be even more important I reckon. With that many plants watering by hand is going to be a bitch so I highly recommend an automatic watering system. I wouldn't recommend soil, I feel coco would be a better choice as you can get 5KG bricks and buffer it yourself, mix it with perlite and you have a lot of medium for a very low price. Waaay cheaper than soil.

  22. Sweet brother shot for the info, plant is currently in darkness and I shall cut her down by tomoro or Saturday, Wrt the yield I am absolutely curious as to what it would be, ukim using 144watts of led, I have this white widow and the big bud auto which needs about 3 weeks more or so, dont have the slightest clue as to what the yield would be....any guess? 23. Hi PeeWee Hope you fine the right answers Soil.. looks good. Never used that brand, but contains what it should. Ph, good... First two weeks only water, not a lot.. keep it well moist all the time. so better to soak it and then let drip off well, then keeping it on the dry side. Nothing against some nutes from the start. You get special fertilizer for root development. Your nutes don't look to bad for the veg part.. so in your "auto life" first 3-5 weeks, depending on strain. But for flowering, you have to bring potassium and phosphorus up and Nitrogen a bit down. So look further into fertilizer Transplanting.. knowing when, is a bit the key ^^ The rule is rather simple, when you have a plant in a pot, as soon as the leaves reach the outside of the pot, is time for a new home.. with Autos, yes, helps if you put the seed directly in the final pot. Watering rule with hemp is also rather simple.. it wants dry and wet phases. So when you wet it, wet it well, but never let the run off stand in the saucer for longer as 5 hours, best, no saucer and raised above the ground. If the water can easy run off, swamping will not be your issue. Young plants like it moist.. also high air humidity helps. Never let them drop below 10C degrees or the plant will become unhappy to suicidal Due to the short life of an Autoflower, any mistake you do, will cut your yield substantially, first steps with a higher reward at the end you get with a feminized seed, just bit wrong time for that right now. But in any case.. good luck with your next grow

  24. Hi Jane Welcome! Lots of help here and I will start with my 5cents. That's just over 11sg/m and to start of you will need 4000 + true Watts, but if you use half of the space to grow and the rest just to keep all your grow nessesities it will help with the start up budget. Winter can be a bitch to maintain temps at a avg of 25 degrees if it's a outside building/shed, if so you need to insulate to keep the heat you paying for inside as best you can. If you veg loooong you can have 10-12 plants but you can put up to 20 x 25L pots easily in there and can manage plants better. All depends what the end products destiny is.

  25. Besides not working, life isnt that much different for us. We are home bodies and used to this way of living. My winter breeding run planning has stalled with genetics in limbo somewhere so no CBD versions of my cuts this year. Was/am planning on bringing some lebanese landrace into the pool, but yeah, plenty other genetics to explore in the meantime.

  26. This lockdown is a disaster. It's a no work no money reality in our household, There is no savings to buffer this, no full grocery cupboards as we buy what we need almost daily with whatever money we have on hand. Sadly this reality is one that tens of millions of us will face for the next month or more. I feel I would survive getting the virus. Cant say the same about this lockdown. All the best to you all. Let's see what the world looks like after...
