Sup folks Sorry for the delay. @Ill_Evan @Dank I ultimately settled for a late installation of a scrog net. I've usually stayed away from scrog due to accessibility. If I had more than 4 plants right now it would be an issue as my tent is only accessible from 2 sides. For the future I'm gonna have to look at watering the plants by means of a pump, blumat or some sort of gravity feed as ultimately I want to be growing 4 plants in the tent. @Dank I have usually been using stakes toward the latter part of the grow but as you say its tough to find plastic stakes. Just before lockdown I went and bought some pvc tubing, joints and plant tying wire Plants at 5 weeks through flower, below. Taken on the 4th of April. This isn't a textbook scrog of course but rather a way of just providing the lateral support needed later on. It was at this point that I realised the Blue Dream on the right was blooming very slowly and continued to stretch, plus it started to develop that classic sign of revegging. Something I carelessly overlooked was the passive airvent on the tent to the bottom right of the Blue Dream. My tent is in my garage and periodically the garage light is on during the day, plus there is an element of natural light that gets into the garage as well. After realising this I checked inside the tent and this light was indeed getting cast over the bottom portion of the blue dream. This must have been the reason for it's strange behaviour. As I say, a very careless amateur mistake. It's never happened to be before so sometimes you need a kick in the ass to be anal about it. Unfortunately for the plant things have just been getting worse as you'll see in the forthcoming pics Day 4 of week 7. Taken on 13 April. The Blue Dream's downward spiral ever present in this pic. Monumental clawing. She looks more stressed by the day and I have very little hope for her. She'll most likely just be used for extract if she produces anything of worth. Understanding Genetics/Breeders: Starting out I was under the impression GSC was GSC and Chemdawg was Chemdawg... I wish someone had explained the importance of breeder cuts used in the genetics. Having the same name, doesn't mean it's the same cut. I wish someone had told me that just because I see an awesome picture of a strain it doesn't mean that the breeder is good. The death of Dutch Genetics: I wish someone had told me earlier how so many of the popular Dutch seed banks that built up a reputation in the 90s, were fucked by government back in the mid 2000s, and that they lost most of their genetics in the process. I wish someone had told me that most of those breeders started selling Spanish bulk genetics as their own to replace the cup winning strains from the 90s. The US breeders are years ahead of EU genetics now days (sans 1 or 2 high end breeders), there's a reason why the stuff being sold now have completely different terp profiles to what that same strain carried a few decades ago. IPMs: I started out thinking that you treat a pest when it's there. Preventative IPMs are so important. Explaining Phenotypes: I long lived with this idea that a strain was what one is after, and once you have the strain you're good. I wish I knew that the strain is really only such a small part of the grow. Finding the pheno that you want from that lineage is far more important than the strain itself. Just because my buddy grew a fire Spumoni, doesn't mean I'll get a good one if I pop a pack.

Stretch settling. I'm impressed that she made 1m in height being on 12/12 basically since germination. Frost starting and she is getting a very sweet aroma to her. She has not been fed once, just going on the nutes in my soil mix. She is starting to ask for P in her fan leaves(start of dark leaf veins), so she just got her first shot of MKP @ 2ml/L.

The leaves turning yellow is not uncommon for a plant reaching the end of its life / maturity. The pistils (hairs) turning brown isn't a sure way to tell whether the plant is ready, you need to take a look at the trichomes (crystals). The trichomes are what contain the THC and other chemicals and outdoor they certainly do form and do so properly, without trichomes you would not get any effects. You need to use a loupe or microscope to take a look at the trichomes, there are 3 stages of trichomes: clear, milky and amber. Milky when the THC is highest, once it goes amber the THC starts to degrade a bit and change to different substances and based on when you harvest (the ratio of clear trichomes, milky trichomes and amber trichomes) will also have an affect on the type of high you get from the plant. A lot of amber often gives you a heavy "couch lock" effect. A lot of clear can lead to paranoia and a racey high. On average most people like to harvest with mostly milky trichomes and then between 10% to 50% amber based on personal preference. I have attached a picture to help give you a better idea, you cannot see it with the naked eye. You will need something to help you zoom in on the sticky trichomes also when checking to see if a plant is ready it is best to check the trichomes in various buds on the plant and different parts of the bud - so the top of the bud, middle of the bud as well as bud on different parts of the plant. I like to check some bud which are lower on the plant and some in the middle and some in the top on all sides of the plant for a better picture. One thing I have noticed is that trichomes on the leaves mature at a different rate to the trichomes on the bud, I find trichomes on leaves often turn amber before the trichomes on the bud. The pistils can change colour if the plant gets pollinated or if a substance touches the pistils, such as some sprays can turn the pistils brown / orange as well. I had a plant where the pistils changed colour around 3 or 4 weeks before the plant was ready for harvest and that was not due to anything being sprayed and the plant was not pollinated either.

I would agree with most of what has been said, a good breeder should look at the bigger picture, not just breed for looks but also disease resistance, vigour, not bottleneck genes entirely and put a healthy genetics representation onto the market place that offers some stability of the intended genes he or she wanted to develop. I wouldn't include Matt Riot of riot seeds in that personally, as i don't consider what he does seed breeding, but that might just be me, and i always questions those who appoint themselves as genetic authorities rather than earn that spot. There are so many amazing breeders out there currently, look for those who seem to pass off the image and message that you would like to portray, look for realistic pricing, and well develop seed lines with a high occurrence of high quality offspring. If you are looking for a certain gene do you homework and see who has the closest to the source, if looking for Triangle Kush or the white then swamp boys, if looking for a wide array of elite clone hybrids then Archive or CSI humboldt These include for me, amongst many others Bodhi seeds Archive Bloom Seed co CSI humboldt Relentless genetics Symbiotic Thugpug Swamp boys Eskobar seeds Karma genetics and many many more, but be careful, its a seed business and some people just want you hard earned cash
