I am a newbie in the cultivation of weed , living in the south of Johannesburg. any tips regarding growing outdoors through out the cold season are welcomed, Currently building my own greenhouse to cover the babies i have growing : Critical Kush Mazar i shariff Gorrilla glue OG kush Bubbleberry glue ( received them from buyseedsa.com) Gorrila glue in flowering , the rest is still veging. Any tips and tricks to make it through the cold weather welcomed!

Thanks man! I've attached another pic showing my light. The quantum boards are so powerful that I get bleached tips if it's any lower than it is now. Luckily with the thin aluminium passive heatsink, it allows enough space to grow decently tall plants.

Howsit guys. I've been a long time lurker and thought it's about time that I introduce myself and start being more active on the forums. Your grows look awesome! I'm an indoor grower from Mpumalanga. I keep the outdoors for my Trichocereus cacti, another passion of mine. I love getting stoned! I've been growing for just about a year now and loving every moment of it. I really look forward to properly being apart of this community. Happy growing!

Honestly, for this comment and anyone that wants to ask about how those kind of pics didn't make it. As someone just viewing the forum and participating, I feel that those images are awesome, yes, but there isn't something uniquely memorable about it. You may have taken time and put in effort to take the picture, but honestly it looks like a good advertisement picture for a strain against a black background, which isn't anything out of the ordinary, and isn't that original either. Don't get me wrong, they're beautiful pictures. But this is a competition to judge a winner, not who has the best photography setup. I shoot all of my pictures on my phone and sometimes find myself almost all the way on the ground to find that right angle, lol. So I'm pretty bummed I didn't make nominations either. Just enjoy the spirit of the competition peeps. Who knows, maybe you'll win the next one. I'm a new member here and mean no disrespect, just thought I'd share my opinion as it may make a difference. Hoop house. Is probably the easiest to build. There are lots of plans and videos on the net. Green house plastic is cheap and eazily obtained. If you want a more permanent structure the clear polycarbonate roof sheets with plastic or net sides. You must also think how would this structude be cooled in summer. Mabe construct it so that the sides can be raised in summer for better ventilation.

Week 9 packing weight

Afternoon 420SA, Hope all are keeping well in this lockdown. Was quite busy these last few weeks. Got a couple of late finishers doing their thing. 1-3. a Bubblegum sativa lady from 2019 that revegged by herself, her timing was way off. With her 2nd chance she produced some really flavourful buds reeking of ''vicks'' chappies. 4-5. A petite chocolope clone that I cut when cleaning up my comp girl. Just doing her thing, waiting for her trichs to colour. 6. One of my Rudiralis dominant Mango Swazi lady's that also revegged -flowering her out. She produced a number of good clones. Pushing her to go more amber hence the funky leaves. 7. Another Ruderalis dom. 3 leaf Mango Swazi lady doing her thing. Sweet and fruity. 8-11. Our Swazi gold Queens. First ladies I planted in mother earth, they came into theit own. Many clones were cut, some we shared with friends. These ladies also assisted with @420sake 's project to preserve their genetics. Nice man! @KaktusBoer why the hydroton on top of your coco perlite mix? I also run coco and perlite with fertigation, although use a different automatic watering system. That is a lot of water and nutes to waste. I must admit, I know with coco you're meant to water until runoff to avoid a nute imbalance and high EC environment in the coco but I have been lazy and so far have not noticed any negative side effects. @Ill_Evan with my QB's (well, we all have the same), when dimmed for seedlings, you can have it like 10cm away and it wont be an issue. I wouldn;t say one is more important than the other but higher up will give a better coverage and in your tent I think that is more wanted - especially with a scrog. So greater distance from the plants and then higher watts to compensate for the distance. @KaktusBoer There is no need to run the lights at their very max, LEDs are more efficient when running them below max capacity. Running them at max will lead to increased heat and a shorter lifespan on the LEDs, higher electricity bill for not all that much more output than a few w less. I don't see much need to run them past 90w per QB (so 360w in your case) when they're often stated as capable of 120W each.

Supplemental light outdoors is essential to control when your plants flip as mentioned by @CreX . A small 10W LED Flood light is all you need in your greenhouse. Or you could do it like a boss and control a whole nursery like @420sake without power from the grid. Photos can be flowered outdoors year round. Well atleast here on the East Coast. Best way being Veg them 24hrs indoors. Throw them outside for almost instantaneous flowering regardless of how short the nights are. We use this method for sifting through seeds to see what makes the cut for a space in the flower room.

You can. I do not have experience with Autos nor do I have fond memories of trying a batch. None the less.. If you stagger your germination of four seeds every 3 weeks for 3 mnts, for example.. you'll be able to have a pretty decent perpetual grow going through winter and have you enough dank till a propper photoperiod harvest in October and this time next year.. 20 propper gene autos will do the trick as long as you have desent soil.. They do not need much nute wise but good soil is key. Be prepared to spend money on good seeds. Don't bugger arround with cheap seeds. There is allot of knowledge on Autos on the forum and guys with lank experience.. Read some of their Threads.. @CreX is one of the guys that has fire auto grow diaries. Greenhouse will work depending on what part of the country you are from. Anything is possible.

I was starting to get a little bit of bleaching from my QB at 200W and a distance to canopy of about 10cm, so I can totally believe @KaktusBoer. Also ended up raising mine but not as extensively, mine is sitting about 18cm now and the plants look a bit more comfortable. @CreX would you say distance to canopy is more important than watts being pushed?

Download a lux app on your phone... It will take a lot of the guess work out of it

Awesome, thanks for the tip man! I start mine with my Meanwell driver dimmed to minimum when germinating my seeds. Then I slowly up the power until I run them full blast in flower. Recommended height from what I can gather is around 21 to 24 inches from the canopy. I try to run it as close as possible until seeing bleached tips then raise it until I feel comfortable. The bleaching only happens right in the centre where there's a hotspot from the light. I'll try running them a bit cooller and closer thanks man!

Really? Maybe try running them a little cooler if you can and drop them a bit. I have similar qbs, and can comfortably keep the light at a few cm(10~15) above the canopy In flower, my cellphone lux app hits over 70k-100k lux intensity which is pretty decent. My aim is for 50k minimum a cross the whole canopy Otherwise I'm super keen to see your grow yo!!

RAW or Pure Hemp paper rolls.. I like my joints longer ^^ so I don't have to role to often Other advantage with a roll is that the clue side doesn't rolls up Disadvantage.. filter material ^^

Thanks man! Been working quite well for me so far. I use Hortimix from Hydroponic.co.za to keep the nutes on the cheaper side. That way, extra runoff doesn't hurt the pocket as much.

Thanks PsyClown! No, not at all. I'm running a drain to waste system. My pots are on upside down 25L containers , with trays draining into another container. I feed 3 times a day and empty the runoff about every 2 days. I go through 20L of nute water every 2 days. I have a black 25L bucket outside the tent with an airpump, and waiter pump feeding for 5min, 3 times a day You probably know this, but with coco/hydro, if done right, you can't really overwater your plants. Every feeding replaces the previous feeding with fresh, oxygen rich Nutrient water. I aim for 10-20% runoff every time.

Thank you! I'm a lover of coco/hydro and indoor. At the moment I have 2 plants in a 4x4ft tent with a 480watt Quantum Board. Harvest is in 18 days. I can't wait! This closeup is my Banana Kush, and the other plant is Good Wild Shark. Some of the nicest and fattest buds I've ever grown. Well this is only my 2nd grow but still haha. As soon as I harvest this batch, I'm popping a feminized Banana Hammock by Ethos. I plan on documenting that whole grow on here to show my methods.

First ever crop in my life with purchased seeds this year. Then busy with my second planting of my annual landrace crop has done famously this year, I am happy with the result since your visit. So your girls are eye candy bru - well done. The love is evident.

So I finally harvested and trimmed the big bud( took me 8 hours to trim) and these buds look way better than that of the white widow, unfortunately some of the larger colas developed some bud rot and this was definitely due to the heavy rain we had last week but nevertheless it was only 2 of the large coals, I picked up the issue early enough to not let alot of bud go to waste, after noticing the rot I broke up the bigger colas, decided I rather have small buds than no buds. The buds are so so dense that they can break a window if thrown hard enough lol and covered with Crystals even more than the white widow. Believe it or not the yield came out at 240g after discarding the 2 massive colas that had rot, I purchased 3 950ml mason jars that wasnt enough for the yield. Pleased with the total yield of 340g using 144watts which gave me a yield of 2.36g/w. Buds have a strong fruity aroma and look pretty good. Sent from my SM-N970F using Tapatalk

Aweh. Pleased to have this lady trimmed and dried and jarred. Was quite an undertaking. Did pay a dash of tax in the way of budrot caused by rain and worms, but that is how the ''Giant cookie'' crumbles. Pretty sure in ideal circumstances she could yield more, but we are quite chuffed with the results. All in all she yielded 487gr dry. Thanks for sharing your beans@Dank. Yeah bru. They coming thru strong, although the bubbleberry pollen donor was also indica dominant, I rate this pheno about 60-70% Indica. Cant wait to get the cannabinoid profile back on her when she's done. Shooting for a 20-25% THC, and high levels of limonene and myrcene on this one, but let's see.

Yea what's uuuuuup! Okay, because it's what you have at the moment, I'm not gonna elaborate on the point of you needing a better light blah blah... You already know this much... I'm going to focus on how best to use the thing. First up... Nice innovation hehe it looks cool enough 2nd up, all those lights have different intensity and usefulness in a veg environment, but for it to be more efficient, you need to create as even canopy of light as you can. Best way to do this is download a basic lux app onto your phone, and test each of the globes at a distance of 30cm. For best results you would like to maintain a constant output over a large area as apposed to high concentration in a small area and little elsewhere. So adjust the lights heights so that you can attain this, you might find you will need to either raise or lower the household LED's Next, you need to be able to adjust the light higher and lower with relitive ease because they will need to be about 30cm above the canopy of your plants at all times.... Seedlings, maybe 45cm if the fitting gets hot in any way. And yea, that's the best advice for your temp light, who knows, maybe it doesn't do a half bad job. 1)nice innovation 2)get the light intensity level as constant as you can across the whole fixture 3)make it easy to adjust regularly
