Getting some nice colour and aroma from the GDP, little bit of frosty bits too Royal Gorilla looking to flower for much longer still. Not much more different since the last update. The yellowing is from sending too much juice to the QB. I now know what the maximum perimeters are so hopefully won't mildly burn anymore plants4 points

I think I make a little diary of this project. End-middle of week 2.. not much missed, plants growing nice. Gorillas I got from Cannabist and are Royal Queen Seeds. Dropped 10, one did nothing, one was a dud.. so 8 from 10.. not the most glorious number in fresh seeds. I let them run under a Mars 144, running on veg now and draws 179 Watt. Light duration is 24/0 Day 3 day 113 points

Hi - I'm new to this forum. I want to start my own indoor grow so I'm finding this forum very helpful. Thank you3 points

6 weeks now into flower. Nah I don't think I will defol, my humidity is now sitting under 40% thanks to the recent change in weather and it's getting pretty chilly for the ladies. I rate I am liking how they are both developing so I am leaning towards less-is-more. I am also seeing this grow what it looks like when defol is not as heavy-handed.2 points
-
Nice man, how many weeks into flower are they now? You going to do more defol or not?2 points
-
It's possible some of the people selling QB's locally use Kingbrite QB's... I am not sure though.2 points

Ok, so if you are going for a 300-400g grow @ 50g a plant, then have a look at a 480w LED from @Master_G, or a 600w HID. But that's just what I'd do. I myself am shopping for lights and it's a toss up between these 2 options for me at the moment.2 points

So that light is based on older led technology and emits a blue / purple light. I'm not saying it's bad, although thew newer led lights are more white... Like a halogen car headlight. With led lights, it comes down to the led diode itself. The Samsung diodes are really popular and they're tried and tested and work well for growing. The lm561c and lm301b diodes are the more popular ones. Bridge lux also make some good diodes and there are a few others, most are available in strip form, not quantum boards... Which is also fine although you'd need to do a bit of DIY. Also the light you linked to certainly won't be 600w or anywhere near that. You tend to find quite a lot of cheaper "blurple" LED's with heavily inflated power ratings. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk1 point

Rather wait until@growopz get new stock or just buy from other people on this forum. My personal opinion is a no no. Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk1 point

I'd be curious to get feedback on auto's on 24/0 but with lights you have done a grow with already - see how much of a difference, if any, the additional 4 hours of light have on the auto's and the lack of a dark period.1 point

MH and HPS will also work, however they are less efficient - so higher electricity usage, more heat and less usable output (PAR) compared to LED's. For example, 550W of LED is around equivalent to 1000W of HID. There really is not much going for HID's anymore and that is why majority of growers now a days use LED or are moving over to LED. You won't find many people using MH and HPS. @Ill_Evan and @CreX have both switched over from MH & HPS to LED within the past year or so and I doubt either of them would consider buying more HID lights, they'd likely get more LED's if they need more lighting. With that being said not all LED's are equal, think of LED's as tyres for a car.... You get different brands - Michelin, Pirelli, Good Year, Toyo, Nexen and many more. Let's take Michelin for example, they have tyres which are cheap and considered budget tyres... now the grip and performance, as well as noise level, comfort and fuel economy you get out of such a tyre would not compare to a higher end Michelin tyre. With LED lights it all comes down to the actual diode being used. Now with plants, cannabis in specific, they use photosynthesis in order to grow - typically outside there is the sun which provides light. Without the sun, the plants would not grow at all as they would not be able to generate food for themselves. Lights are one of the most important factors to consider when you want to grow cannabis. If you get shitty lights, your end result will not be good. You can have the best of everything else, but shit lights will lead to a shit grow and a poor yield. Simple as that. Since this is your first grow and you want to perhaps expand on your grow later on, I would recommend you do not skimp on lights. Get some proper quality lights - you will not regret it. If your budget does not allow for 480W+ of LED's then consider getting just 2x QB288's (240W) and when you have more money you can buy more lights. Alternatively, go and purchase a cheap light. Then on your next grow you're going to spend even more money buying proper lights and the cheap shitty light you purchased will be sitting in a cupboard somewhere gathering dust.1 point

Never ran a grow 24/0.. curious so I just let them be and measure the yield. Mainly busy with my main project.. the small tent 1.2x0.6x1.8m is just running by its own with the Gorillas. I prepare 2 1.2x1.2 tents for my breeding project.1 point

lol. OK thanks Crex. I've messaged MasterG. Appreciate the referral1 point

@Teal Smith Give @Master_G a msg... I'm sure he can hook you up with some sick lights with LMB301h diodes @ a friendly price lol. 16k... I'd rather shit in my hands and clap1 point
-
What if you are unhappy with the way they grow? And you change the light? Or is this a test to see what it can do in its entirety? I rate 40w is a good guestimate on a fan. Will the tent be open 24/7 too?1 point
-
Don't waste your money like that my dude. Save up and buy a nice light. I spent 5k on a 240W blurple and not satisfied, feeling like an idiot, now have to save up again to buy something better. Buying that cfl, even for one plant, will be the biggest waste of time money and energy. Stand back, give it some time, save up some more money. Learn from others' mistakes, being in a hurry and forcing things will not get you far. Saw the ones @Master_G and would highly recommend that if you wana start off on the right foot and save yourself some head and heartache. Blessed!1 point

What do you want out of your 6 clones in terms of actual grams of bud? What is your budget for the light? What is your monthly electricity budget? Answer those 3 and it's easier to decide / give advice.1 point

Managed two clone 2 miniature pineapple glue auto just for fun, was lolly poping the big plant, the stems were hard so I plugged the 2 into a small pot been going strong for over 1 month, think the 1 is done and the other is halfway lol1 point

Autooooooos!!!! Yes, when I saw the real wattage of the light on the smart plug, not to turn it off became so tempting to see the result. Flowering will go to 177... but still below 180 I would have preferred 10 plants in that space.. to really maximize the area and yield. Also curious how much energy the whole grow will consume.. easy calculation. Bit unfair, I am using the exit vent of the big tent to vent the small tent, so just the lamp running inside. I will add some fan energy consumption.. what you think is fair? 40 watt 24/7 on top?1 point

Nice brooooo! I was wondering how long it would take for you to show up on our doorstep1 point

Let's see what 127w can do! Autos I'm assuming? With the light not as powerful as the TS 3000, I'm curious to see what happens1 point

I've always thought about doing this... Got a link to a journal or something I could read through with a grow using these?1 point

Yea, no offense Totemic, but you can get 2x 150w 6000k led flood lights that put out crazy lumens and are just under 400 a pop. https://www.acdc.co.za/products/220-240-150w-cool-white-led-alum-flood-light-ip65?variant=208596304855811 point

You guys should really be moving as far away from CFL lighting as possible... That's rookie stuff that works In a pinch... High powered CMH and LEP as well as top end LED are the options you need to consider if your goal is top shelf bud. Sure not the cheapest... But you gotta start somewhere... But honestly... Cfls are not the somewhere you should be starting and or buying more to supplement Rather speak to @Master_G he has the goods1 point

I read about a guy online who did the comparisson test between the 2 QBs, with red & without. Apparently there was no noticeable difference between the 2 plants grown in the same conditions. Don't have the link, sorry. I've been shopping around for QBs and the best I can find so far is R16k for a 600W LED QB with LM301h 3500k diodes + 660nm red from epistar. Still feels overpriced but is that the going rate these days, more or less?1 point

It will work for a first grow but after that you would want to upgrade I would rather save money and buy something propper. Sent from my VTR-L09 using Tapatalk1 point

Aweh gromies. Hope all are doing well, despite the absolute monumental bulls#$t, bollocks and f$ckenings happening in our world. Herewith... 1-2. Two of our Chocolope clones going golden with the colours of autumn. Was hoping for a bit more purple but doubt our min temps will do the job. Trichs are still a bit clear, have to wait another week or so. 3-4. Mango/Swazi mama that was revegged and is now flowering out. Rock hard pungent buds on this lady. 5-6. A petite Fruitpunch lady doing her thing, still a while to go for her. With all this lockdown shenanigans I managed at long last to get my hands on some organic food for the ladies. (All Sold out - awaiting stock) Suppliers recieved stock for the soil making. Got a decent sized(about 200lt)batch mixed up with added kraal manure, dosed generously with AACT and covered it up. Another 120lt of compost from our pile and we should be good. Our whole garden runs on this soil, from the sweet potatoes to the onions, chilli's and herbs. Starting an experiment with grenadillas in the greenhouse(where the vervets can't steal them) Brewed a kick ass alcoholic beverage from them before, going to replicate it with my own fruit. Cheers vir eers.1 point
