  1. To reach plant density and potency, you have to provide energy and building material. If you are saving on your energy source, results will suffer, what ever you feed them. Same goes the other way, you can have a top energy source and feed them hopes and dreams.. will not work. I understand and like your opinion on things you hear... that is good for politics and general gossip when we go growing, the internet is full of peoples experiences.. if you want to make all those yourself, will take a bit and a long learning curve. If you simply listen to the people, your rate of success will increase rather drastically Nobody in here gives bad advise on purpose. If you invest a little more.. you get a lot more out.

  2. Sometimes after you have been given the goods you still need to decide what you're going to do. Nobody can make you decide. if you're deciding to grow bud with a pic of a dank frosty nug in your head and then you look at a 1400 bucks blurple from takealot. At that moment you need to buy that light, Grow weed, see what you get and pay your school fees. You have been getting feedback and suggestions from master growers and breeders. I can offer you a light that will give you the result you have in your head, but not at the price your displaying interest in. The next step is up to you @adre.

  4. Look, end of the day the only person who has commented in this thread who may have something to gain would be Master G and that'd if you were to purchase one of his lights. His lights are simply quantum boards with lm301b diodes and there are other local suppliers you can purchase such quantum boards from. However in terms of pricing his are the cheapest I have seen locally. You can also get led strips with good quality diodes if you'd like. Don't feel pressurised to buy from Master G specifically or to get quantum boards. What you should want to do is get lights with good quality diodes and I feel everyone in this thread who has recommended LED lights is basically saying the same thing. Led strips can be purchased from websites such as Arrow and Digikey. They offer prices in ZAR but the items are not stocked locally so custom charges are applicable. You'll then also need to get heatsinks to mount them onto (I have some for sale, alternatively you could get from Builders or similar). Also keep in mind you'll still need a power supply (LED driver) to power the lights. So add up the costs of the led strips and the other components required to put it together. Then go and look at the cost of other quantum boards available locally and check with Master G on the pricing of his quantum boards and see what may be the best for you. Alternatively if your budget does not allow for such lights at the moment, then you'll need to compromise and get something which you are able to afford and later on you can consider getting better lights. You'll still be able to grow cannabis with that blurple light from Snatcher and other similar lights from futurama and takealot etc. You'll get bud and it will be decent and get you high. Although it won't be as efficient as better quality lights and the bud quality may be slightly lower but depending on what you're used to smoking it could be on the same level or even higher quality bud than what you're used to. If you already smoke good indoor, it could be on the same level or slightly lower. If you're used to outdoor, it could be higher quality. Hard to say. I hope this clears things up, don't feel pressure to buy what we suggest from who we suggest. We're just trying to help guide you to ensure you get great value for money as most of us have done the research already and looked at the various options. End of the day, the equipment you purchase and how your grow does honestly makes no difference to me (don't mean that in a bad or nasty way). :D Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk

  6. The diodes are shit, they burn out, the wattage is not true wall watts, they're burples. Buy a QB from @Master_G and end this pointless conversation.

  7. @Dank I'm also really grateful for this local online platform. A decade and some change of growing in silence and having no1 to share the experience besides your closest people. And then suddenly you get to chat with equally passionate people that are not tired of hearing what's happening in the garden. You spot on with the pineapple skunk not liking being defoliated. Gave her a very selective defoliation this time. Her terps are also a new experience to me. It's nothing to scream about but fills a gap while we search for the new flavas. My favorite pheno of the watermelon gals shares the same structure and leave type as the male watermelon I used so maybe... Just maybe I might find something good enough to be a keeper amongst the kids. The stuff in the hunt room I ended up taking clones twice because I found one cutting in the dome had damped off after a week so I played it safe. Now everything besides that one has rooted. So I'm thinking maybe I do a quick F2 project with the Gama Berry. Which might theoretically be F3 seeing as it's BB#5 x strawberry diesel. All research points me to believe that BBs mom is the OG Kush and the dad strawberry diesel. If I'm mistaken please correct me guys. I know guys have already grown BB. So I have a 1m x 1m tent setup that I'm thinking of throwing all 6 Gama Berry clones in (3 males, 3 females) and open pollinate. Maybe eventually only keep the seeds from the female that turns out the best in the sensi room. It is so weird you mention gas plants and gherkins cos now I'm smelling gherkins on the only female Chem plant I have. I like your thinking with this Chem strain. I only have 3 of them thou... 2 males and 1 female. Is that enough to open up its population? For now I still have all the males. Was gonna keep 1 of each but I don't know cos they not really troubling me in their clone form. Maybe wait for a donor from the next hunt...Primal punch or maybe a 96 NYC diesel ... Just have to wait for the post office to come thru. This is like practice for that. Or if you want any of these strains I'll send it to you and you can return the packaging with you know what. Unrooted is perfect for me. Yeah man oneday we too will have lotsa fire floating around SA. Peace growmie

  8. Yeah, coco and hydro are the same in that sense. The coco is simply a medium in which the water / nute mixture is held. Coco does not contain any nutrients at all, unlike with soil. @TheUltimateNoob so @CreX and I were talking and you're using Freedom Farms Formula 1, which isn't pure coco / perlite. It contains some amendments, if you're feeding according to the coco / hydro guide on the bottle this may be causing issues as the amendments are also providing nutes. Ingredients: Coco Coir, Worm Castings, Perlite (30%), Volcanic Rock Dust, Bone meal, Gypsum, Fermented probiotic bran. That is the Formula 1 mix. So I'd certainly lower the nutes you're giving, perhaps even follow the soil chart for the GHE nutes instead - I have not looked at what those dosages are like though.

  12. Sjo thanks for the kind words bro, always trying to learn more and enjoying the craft, hopelessly addicted to MaryJane since I was a youngster. The rewards of harvesting and blazing the kindest bud is what its all about, really lekker to be a part of the 420SA forum, peeps with a badditude in this game just need some better weed thats all Litchi flavor sounds lekker man, never smoked anything like that before, and with those nuggs are worthy of a sifting at some point in time! Those big ol fat leaves grow well in certain conditions, and shows that serious indica heritage, with this hybrid it should be easy to see the kids leaning more to the Electric Watermelon side and those that keep their fat leaves should lean more to the mom. My guess is that she doesn't appreciate much defoliation during flowering, sometimes the case with the heavy indicas. Its good that you got your favs backed up man, the only way to know most of the time is to grow out the prodigy from the males, assuming one male gets used at a time, or controlled breeding with all three males, when the traits you like carry over, then you can select whichever male to use again. With the elite breeding stock it might be that all the males do their jobs and pass on quality traits, from my experience, the fruitier smelling males do pass on fruity flavors quite well. Some breeders prefer the male doesn't pass on many traits, then select for a more neutral smelling plant, I have never tested this though. The gas flavors I have less experience with, but have heard that you want a almost gerkin smelling male plant, not sure what the Krypt is smelling like, but would definitely consider making a batch of f2's (krypt x krypt ? ibl) if possible, would love to get a male donor out there for my WeddingCake cut as well as my BlueberryKush. If you are keen we could try to preserve the krypt as a IBL, backcrossing to moms that are found worthy along the way. When travel is allowed again you are most welcome bro, also would run any males from your batch to see what we get, but at the same time, just keep alive what you can, the Krypt and the BruceBanners are legendary, but looking at your lineup, it all looks flippen Dank bro! I will have to take some cuttings from her at some point, so might have some rooted gals here for you when you arrive, maybe it will be for summer holidays! Sharing cuttings is nice way to set our own "forum" standard, and in time many of the local growers will prefer to get seeds or clone stock from the local breeders. If you dont mind me asking, which strains are the males you kept out so far?

  13. Good afternoon ladies and gentleman. My first post on the forum. Looking forward to being part of the community. I got myself one of these grow lights. http://sandalwoodproducts.com/product/hydroponic-led-grow-light/ Attempting my first indoor grow. Does anyone have any personal experience with these lights? From what I can gather on the internet they are not the worst. Thanks!

  14. And when I look at your feeding amount, can't it be that the amount of Phosphor you add, lock out the iron? Your very bright yellow center looks direction iron deficiency..

  15. To me 5.5 seems quite low in terms of PH... I personally aim for 5.9 to 6.3 and currently am also using GHE and coco and have been following their feeding chart for the most part. No issues at all, I also run blumat's for automatic feed and do not do a flush, I know its recommended... but so far no issues. EC for flower has been around 1.7 on average with their recommended doses and my plants have been fine... With coco you do not need to constantly feed at a low PH to bring the PH down, just simply reduce the PH to the level you want and continue feeding at that PH. The PH fluctuations are probably not helping either. So let's say you were feeding at a PH of 7.0 and you want to lower it to 6.2, no need to drop the feed to a PH of 5.5 just drop to 6.2 and continue with that. On average I typically end up with a PH of 6.1 to 6.3 if you want a tighter range. I take a bit of a lazy approach with PH as well in the sense that when I add PH up / down, as long as I end up within my 5.9 to 6.3 range I do not worry much about it. If it were me experiencing that issue, I'd take the plant and put it in my bathtub and put around 5 or 6L of feed through it and have the feed PH'd to 6.2 If you really want, you can go a little higher on the micro and a bit lower on the grow. I'd then monitor it from there and give it a chance to recover.

  16. I can't comment on the solution, coco is out of my realm but those plants do definitely look Manganese deficient. The droopiness might not be related though, just to keep in mind. Might even be a lockout if you're experiencing deficiencies close to feeding. If I were experiencing this I'd probably opt for a flush and a fresh low dose feed and work my way up in ppm. I'd also just stick to ph of 5.8 when experiencing a problem rather than making fluctuations while the plant is unhappy. Just my but I'm sure a coco guru will give a better definitive answer.

  17. Here’s how you do it: Build a plywood box and make drawers for it. The drawers don’t have bottoms. Buy filter elements and put them in the drawers. Easy to clean.

  19. Lol I really appreciate all your answer and and advice ...Sorry for all the stupid questions but I dont believe in just buying something just because someone said its better, I like to understand what I am getting and why im getting it over another product(for example went to futurama and got suggested the CFL light which turns out is not a good option thanks to the info you guys gave me) I completely understand you guys are really good growers and you have perfected your craft but Im new and know nothing more than what a bunch of internet pages tells and the guy at a store just trying to sell me something that's why I joined the forum

  20. Thanks for the advice CreX, ive spoken to MasterG. the only reason for Cfls in my case was because that was literally the only lights i could find during the lockdown. Some feedback on the Spotlight/growlight... The plant seems to be loving the new light but i guess anything would be better then the 2 20W cfls she was under before.

  22. I grew some NLAuto from RQS on 24/0 a while back, was in a 20l container and plant was over 1m when I chopped her. Didn't have al the wattage on her so maybe she stretched a bit, but super healthy and lekker smoke. 24hr cycle will be hundreds

  23. I'd be curious to get feedback on auto's on 24/0 but with lights you have done a grow with already - see how much of a difference, if any, the additional 4 hours of light have on the auto's and the lack of a dark period.

  24. Never ran a grow 24/0.. curious so I just let them be and measure the yield. Mainly busy with my main project.. the small tent 1.2x0.6x1.8m is just running by its own with the Gorillas. I prepare 2 1.2x1.2 tents for my breeding project.

  25. No full grow... And I'm only using it in flower because I donr have anything else to supplement light haha. And these are for veg mostly... But still the most cost effective light for veg needs... I have a 2.4x1.2m tent.. And 2 of these will be plenty for the entire tent. Light per plant is tricky to determine.... And it's not a usual straight forward answer... It's like asking how long a piece of string is. But! There are guide lines for area calculations.... Remember that veg and flower require different levels and spectrums of light. Veg needing less light and a more blue spectrum... And bloom needing intense light in a more red spectrum. So if you want a light that does veg and bloom... You gonna need to buy a light that can do both... And spend the money But if you wanna speperate your rooms... Then as veg lights go... The Acdc light is my fav. @Master_G has used acdc lights as well without complaints.

  26. Greetings everyone. Back with another update; I fed them about half way into their light cycle then proceeded to lollipop and defoliate them. This time it was some proper abuse, lol. I took 4 clones off each tree and stuck them under a humidity dome in my incomplete veg box. Let's see what happens. Here are the before and after shots, as well as some of the clones.

  27. You guys should really be moving as far away from CFL lighting as possible... That's rookie stuff that works In a pinch... High powered CMH and LEP as well as top end LED are the options you need to consider if your goal is top shelf bud. Sure not the cheapest... But you gotta start somewhere... But honestly... Cfls are not the somewhere you should be starting and or buying more to supplement Rather speak to @Master_G he has the goods

  31. 1000Hills Nursery Project 2/2020 Pineapple Skunk x Safety Meeting 1 of the best plants from my current indoor run is a Pineapple skunk. So while I have a small window between reset and initiation I decided to carryout a quick breeding project. Here I have a small clone of the chosen pineapple skunk pheno and my watermelon male. I'm going smaller this time as I've found that one single cola produces 100s of seeds. These plants were vegged indoors under 24 hours light and then moved outdoors. Both have started flowering with the male leading the way. I have them seperated and will bring them together to do their thing just before the indoor gals start flowering. I'm excited to see how my boy packs on those clusters over the next few weeks as he was culled early in the last project and will get an extra few more weeks this time round.

  32. Update time... Gals are done doing their thing... bracts have dried and seeds literally falling out. Time for the chop. Slow outdoor dry. All in all I'm pretty pleased with the end results. I have some of the progeny in veg currently, will flip them in a few weeks and see what that Watermelon has passed down...
