  1. Harvest Day - GDP Just finished harvesting the GDP. I think a donked up a bit with how I structured this plant. I intentionally kept a few side shoots quite low down on the plant and the flowers never really developed fully at all, just a couple hairs with barely a bud formed. I ended up chucking most of them. The buds on the main stems came out really nice, but much smaller than anything I've done before. I think keeping the side shoots took away a lot of energy from the main stems and I think this decision was detrimental to the entire yield. I am going to purely focus on the main stems on the next run for sure. Lessons learnt.

  2. #Avocadotech is a cool little method our brothers over the pond developed for their living soil gardens. The idea is to load up a half a avoshell with certain organic foodstuffs for your worms and microorganisms to chow down on. The ol feeding your soil methodology, growers drop "pods" as needed for various stages of growth. This is largely a living soil method and not too sure if it is applicable inany other soil/medium setup. I made a basic flowering mix for my 2 girls in flower. Dandelions, apples, fresh aloevera, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, bit of avo, dolomite lime and some mycoroot + a imo. Tried with a see through container as a test, pretty sure many things can get used as "pods". Highly recommended for living soil grows that want more worm and microbe activity

  4. Okay so here's that long overdue update. Apologies for the delay. I was fighting a losing battle with the Black Fire tree, and managed to sort out the lockout issues I had, only to have the tree recover and hermie on me... You can read about it here if you'd like to see what happened; https://www.420sa.co.za/index.php?/topic/3821-Emergency,-advice-needed The Inzane in flourishing. I've transplanted her into a 20L smart pot 2 days ago and did some light LST to spread her out a bit more. The first 4 pictures are from transplant day - the rest I took a few minutes ago. Seems like she filled out the tent well but I know I'll see a lower yield than my Blue Dream tree as this wasn't a true mainline and the bud structure is a bit more spaced out. I'll stick to creating a Flux or regular mainlining from my next grow, I prefer it, also I think 1 tree at a time in this tent is enough. I don't want to have to lose a tree again. She's due for a feed tomorrow, and a light defoliation as well. Will update once it's done. Enjoy

  10. Problem is, you have to heat at lights out. You’ll be wasting CO2. Gas is also more expensive than electricity. And what about humidity? This a pro idea. If you’re not a pro, don’t even think about DIYing it. If you can find a professionally built system, go for it.But know this: If something goes wrong, you can blow up your house, or asphyxiate everyone in the house. Don’t mess around with this.

  11. Just had a cheeky puff puff of a tiny bit of the GDP now, I think once it's dried and cured it's going to be much enjoyed ..and for those that have stuck around thus far, a sneak peak of things to come:

  12. Feel you man, super bummer. I only got 1 out of 4 seeds to pop per plant when germinating for my current grow. Even though I only needed 1 per strain I was doing, I still had a massive failure rate. But don't now get overly cautious when you pop the next ones in the Jiffies. You're gonna feel hellah anxious and want to literally check every minute for progress, I know the feeling. Soak your Jiffies, sow your seeds, and literally leave them alone for two days in a humidity dome. The less you think on it, the better the pop. It is the curse we have.

  13. @Ill_Evan yeha man im going to see if there is any change over the next day or two, otherwise pop some new seeds with Jiffie pellets. Bummer coz these seeds were expensive.

  15. Yeh it works best with both red wriggler and nightcrawler worms. The reds go up into the pod first followed laters on by the nightcrawlers (ol normal earthies). This is very much new and few are experimenting with it, pretty decent method, dudes even using it indoors.

  16. Trying out Eazy Plugs at the moment. Just popped the seeds into the plugs, no soaking. Two days later already got a few seedlings popping up. Easiest germination I've ever had just hoping they all come out. Shall see.

  17. Schweet I'll check that out. Nah haven't quite gone the mothering route yet.. still popping seeds of different strains until I find something that really stands out

  18. Nice one bro, congrats on the harvest Be sure to check out schwazzing defol method. Especially good to mazimize yield in small spaces. Works well if plants are healthy and being fed, which is all groovey in your setup. Nice flowers man, do u have her as a mom, doing another run u could max her out propper.

  22. We had a quick look on the 301B and the TS3000 and measured some PAR with a Apogee SQ-500 Quantum Flux tool. First hehehe don't mess with the TS3000 ^^ Also saw.. I can go quite some up in hanging distance.. flower distance of 30cm she hits around 1250 micromol at center (to much without permanent CO2 generator). The 301B reached 1150 on center.. but the Lamp has also a different layout for the boards. Monday we make a test environment and set some measure points in a empty 1.2x1.2 and see how they compare as soon as the new lamps arrive. He has B boards lamp shipping (SA local).. my H boards will be faster from China... and the SA guy wrote him last week, lamp is done, gets tested and shipped. Nope.. nothing shipped.. empty promise. When my China boards are here Monday, they were a week faster as the SA local lamp, which was apparently on stock. (Who else beside me thinks that was a blatant lie?) We also had the sensor in the outside sun and that was a way bigger eye opener. Around 2 o'clock, the thingy was reading 2200 micromol.. so more than enough to actually run some plants outside. Light duration still the issue, but down here in the Southern hemisphere you can do what is a absolute no go in Europe. So I revise my statement done before.. yes, you can grow in winter.. sun packs still a punch. Just duration and temp.. had 7 degrees this morning... germinating seeds would not survive that temp. @PsyCLown They give 1 QB of mine with 125Watt.. I prefer to run em not hot.. and 2 QBs on one HLG-240H-48... might be to much or the thingy runs hot all the time.. 250 watts.. na, I run one driver per QB.. and have a spare. If I run into any issues.. have no real down time on the lamp. Each TS also has a driver for each board (2 510 boards)).. I like the setup. If the driver fails, the lamp is not going dark.. just 50% loss.

  25. Hey Doc, I'm holding thumbs for you. From what I see and will post now, it doesn't look good and let's hope for the best still. There is a very negative review on Hellopeter, where the person didnt get the correct seed, and at least they got something, not that it's a great thing, though this means a semi legitimate transaction where they got something out. Side note to everyone and something I learned too, dont trust sites that are not https sites, and that will include a locked symbol, not like this site attached. You add banking details and they can capture the data easy. Be careful, and you'll notice that www.420sa.co.za has the locked https site, so safe

  29. You could run it full on... But that's quite scary... But hooking it up to a thermo isn't so tricky... You just need the right solenoid that can open and close a Gas bottle, and an electric ignition source, hook the solenoid up to the thermo and boom.... As for the ignition and solenoid parts, you don't want to skimp on these in the least. Adding a gas sensor to close the solenoid if excess propane is leaked... Last thing you want is everything to go boom...

  32. Shot for the kind words @1000Hills Nursery , its really chilled, i dig hanging around the forum, seeing all the growers plants and methods. Sharing knowledge and learning more about Cannabis cultivation is the best way to up my own game. I think there are quite a few OG's around in SA, but like any craft, some are weary to teach all of their secrets. As a breeder I would like as many growers as possible to grow super hot bud, cause those guys and girls will really appreciate locally bred fire. Hopefully some more years we can also have the titles of master gardners here in SA. Big shoutout to you as well dude, it takes a lot of hard work and dedication, visable in your current project! Im sure more breeders will follow suite and start collaborations here on 420SA Sounds lekker @420sake any nice winter colours popping up after the frosts? The Indicas will most likely start to finish off fast now.

  33. Lovely, Tangwena is a friend of mine. I'm busy growing his Malawi x Swazi. He would be proud to see some new cobs being made in Africa because of his technique he popularized. Its actually changed quite a bit since he has been developing it and he no longer uses corn cob and its done inside vacuum sealed bags now. He used to call this 'canary bud' because it would give him an indication of how the bud is doing inside the corn husks that he prepared at the same time, but then realized that the canary bud was just as good with less fuss involved.

  35. Yee. Although, the GDP is now a week over the breeder's stated flowering time, so I am considering chopping this weekend. I can't see the buds filling up much more than they are right now. Took another pic today of the trichomes. I can spot a few speckles of amber.

  36. don't cut those, fold them down.. they still can use the leaf for gas exchange. I have a grow report here, they got me a bit with speed. And I was way behind with fertilizing. Plants reached about 50cm and had 50g average on.. so not the best yield.. but the smoke makes all worth it. I have Gelato on order.. I want to do the compare of the TS3000 and the QBs with Gelato and Pineapple Express Autos.. use 2 strains, each get same amount plants and same pot configuration on the same tent area. Then I wanna see the yield differences. OK.. and get more Gelato, is still my No1 smoke.

  39. I bought The Grow Stations Bud Bag. They don’t give a breakdown of what exactly is in the soil. They supplies worm wee and alfalfa meal. I mixed some alfalfa meal into the soil and used some as a mulch. I use the worm wee when watering as recommended. the lowest leaves are just slightly lighter then the rest so il not too worried but i was just curious to know what i can use to boost the N.

  40. @GGG they don't enjoy having cold, soggy feet. Raising the temp of the water is a very good suggestion.
    1 point
  41. I wouldn't blame the cold too much in this regard. If 15C is your low end then I rate you're ok. I am currently getting as low as 13C and going ok Although temp fluctuation between day and night could be a problem if not in flower, but even then I've never seen problem unless you get below 10C. Them weeds is resilient.
