  1. Greetings 420 Fam. I've decided to put this thread together for the newbies to the indoor growing scene and anyone else that it may help. Anyway, it's for everyone to have a look at and hopefully it will give them a little bit of guidance when it comes to choosing the method of training that they want to use on their cannabis tree. Honestly, I wish someone broke it down for me when I started as it would've saved me a few months of experimenting by myself and accidentally coming across new methods somewhere random to try out. Anyway, here goes; Okay, so there's a lot to consider when you're aiming to increase your yield while not outgrowing the space you have available... Let's start with the simple stuff. My suggestion would be to research a bit on what you read here first before committing fully. Here's what you need to consider; - Acquiring good genetics (high yielding plant). Your bagseed flowers may look awesome, but most of the time it's genetics are a big twisted mess and stable genetics will yield you more bud per/m2. - Setting up a hydroponic system will get you a faster growth rate, but not necessarily a higher yield (although the time taken to get it would be shorter by a week or 2). - If you're using soil, you need a well mixed grow medium with enough drainage to ensure proper oxygen concentration in the root zone. - Use a good nutrient line if you aren't using living soil (it doesn't have to be expensive, it just has to work well). - Make sure your space isn't too big for your light (you may end up with airy, smaller buds or just a really slow growth rate if you ignore your limits here). - Ensure your plants get enough direct airflow to develop healthy, strong stems and so they receive ample fresh air. If you've considered of all of that, then you don't have much else to decide. LST works well, but it takes a lot of patience and when using it even with FIMing, but it isn't the most effective. This is because you still have to, in a way, let the plant grow normally and constantly train it to fit your space FIMing your tree will just give you more branches to train. The next 2 methods I'm going to mention are ways of making the plant grow into your space and it sort of has a predefined shape, which requires minimal training and even less once you decide to flower. Mainlining a tree requires less patience, and a bit of confidence when using this method because you will have to use some heavy HST with LST. I've used a slight variation of this on my last grow. I came out with about 204g of top shelf bud off a single tree (in a 70cm x 70cm tent). "Quadlining" has been coming up more recently and I've done this on a Microgrow I had running a while ago. You don't remove as much plant material as the previous method but the results are pretty similar. It requires slightly less time than Mainlining but also works well on maximizing yield... I was able to get 40g from 1sq ft off a single, small tree. Both these methods were effective at creating an even canopy with minimal LST and without the need of a net/trellis, but they do involve HST which means you will have recovery periods that add to your total length of the grow. I haven't tried any other methods, but from my understanding; ScrOG is one of the most effective at getting a maximum yield as this is a more controlled way of creating an even canopy and involves using a rigid screen through which you weave the tree as it grows. This makes maximum use of your space as you can decide what size grid to use and when you think its packed enough to flower. This method comes at the cost of a long veg time and regular maintenance, due to having to check which tops are growing pass the others and getting others in optimal positions. I'm not sure what other yield boosting techniques are commonly used but IMO; I think you're better off running your trees with the mainlining technique. Do some searching on Google to see how each of the methods work and see which one you'd feel comfortable doing. Everyone has their own preference I know this isn't a complete, thorough guide or like a how-to, but I hope it helps some of you. Feel free to also share the link with anyone that has a yield boosting question that can be answered by this post. If you're gonna add information to this thread, all I ask is that you please be sure of the methods you're posting. I've tried different methods and I've compiled this from my own experience. 3. There is some awesome information on this forum.. Read read and read some more. Ask the more experienced guys as much as you like.. The thing is... stick to the basics and do not over ingeneer your soil mix.. Otherwise you might as well buy the end product from Just Cannabis or Freedom Farms for example.. Enjoy the journey and stay safe..

  7. Howzit lekke ppl, I always seem to be growing something, as can be seen from the 'other' herbs. Had some swazi bagseed germinate between the basil and chillis in Spring 2018 and voila. Largest remaining female now bearing decent heads, especially as she's in very sandy soil and does not recieve enough sun. Top dressed with my own compost and stuck to seagrow once a week, finishing her off with molasses to fatten up a bit. 1st pic Dec 18(let's see what happens) 2nd pic Feb19(almost 2m tall) 3&4 heads (smelling awesome) Now about 1 or 2 weeks away from harvest, checking every day. Won battles against aphids, worms and spidermites. Happy to say they all died horrible deaths...ha,ha,ha. Had to brush up on a lot of stuff from nutes (organic and chem) to adjusting water ph and fighting all the goggas. Glad I joined this forum, learnt a lot. Thanks a million guys and gals. Gonna do a larger scale outdoor grow. Babies allready germinated, will post pics soon. Cheers vir eers Sent from my SM-A500F using Tapatalk

  9. That is a pretty comprehensive pictorial from around the world, very interesting. I have grown some nice Swazi gold from said country. 60% of the plants grew as typical Swazi but the remainder expressed differently, indicating possible foreign influence. Still have a few beans in my bank that will be planted. Did enjoy that sativa and they grew very well in our coastal climate. Wouldnt mind growing our famous Dbn Poison one day. 11. If you're monitoring ppms, these are the ranges I use Veg: 400-600ppm (week 1-400, week 2-500, week 3 onward-600) Flower: 600-800ppm (week 1-600, week 2-700, week 3-800, week 4 onward-700) I do feed my seedlings but I'm not going to mention it as there are many who advise against it and it's super easy to do damage to them when they're that young. Don't forget to make sure you pH is within acceptable range for the grow medium you're using. Sent from my POCOPHONE F1 using Tapatalk

  12. @Stinger96 yes, I agree. One only needs to add one wrong ingredient and the whole grow might fail or yield and quality suffer. I've used freedom farms and biobizz for 3 - 4 years now so I feel it's time to take my growing skills to the next level. Also freedom farms can get a bit costly if you like to grow many variaties. For me there are so many upsides to using super soil. It's not just growing in a way as sustainable as possible, I also like the idea not having to pay for fertilizer (accept for the additives for the soil of course). In the end the only thing I need to pay for are the genetics. Lastly I imagine it to be a very rewarding experience, creating the soil, growing the plants and give the harvest a good cure. And yes I'll ask a lot of questions ... Jamies garden shop is also just around the corner and looking at what he has to offer I am sure he'll also be able to provide me with some valuable information. I haven't had the chance to visit his shop. Ok I got to stop rambling on otherwise I'll write a book lol

  17. Lesotho Heights cob after 11 days of fermenting at around 40C. Opened the vac vag twice to air dry the cob. Now it's been dehusked, dried for 24h and revac sealed to be reopened in a few weeks or months. Smoked a gram or so mixed with some dry flower and definitely a smooth smoke, leading to deeper puffs and heavier effects. Definitely knocks and drops tolerance levels, had to, for a long time actually limit consumption. Waiting to see how things pan out during the cure

  18. Hey guys, thanks for the welcome. Sorry I missed the whole signing in and sanitizing story. Keen to have fun share some grows and hopefully one day mingle (in a sanitary manner) with some of y'all at a live event one day. I am currently waiting on the current outdoor grow to finish up and I have just popped in the Special Skunk Auto into a some Just Cannabis Craft Soil. Props to Biltong And Budz for the genetics. I do prefer Organic based herb, I know it takes longer but I feel the plant gains so much more, why would you want to rush old mother nature. If I can help or offer advice to anyone I will be around. Thanks guys and girls. Peace, I and I

  21. @Bospatrollie2 How's mid April for our next meet up? Exchange some new flavours... Spend some solid time on the farm rubbing all the gals up the wrong way... @420sake Trinity Farm rocks brother!!! Looking forward to our canna session together and tasting all the new stuff coming down right now... @GummyQueen Mrs Mambawana loves the new gummy flavours. And as for the chocolates... wow... luckily I ate 1/2 piece as recommended and not acted too brave. That half was enough to keep me floating for hours... @420sake feel free to post any pics here... our work even on an individual basis is related. I'll post some pics soon of your landrace cut I have. She's just kicked in flower and is an absolute beaut... #southoftheburg #kzncolabs #durbanhunt2020

  22. Evening all. All told she finally delivered 78gr dried and cured. Did find a couple of seeded buds yielding about 40 seeds. She smokes very well, smooth and sweet and almost none of the ''cannabis smell'' We harvested ''later'',lots of amber thrichs with CBD in mind to aid relaxation and sleep. Before bed with coffee...awesome. Thanks to all for the inputs.(Puff puff pass) Keep the peace. Sent from my SM-A500F using Tapatalk

  23. Evening good ppl- bit of an update. Did a bit of harvesting pruning and curing. My swazi lady yielded 23g cured so far. Expecting a bit more from the main colas which I'm chopping tomorrow. It's not huge but it's a good start. Sent from my SM-A500F using Tapatalk

  24. Big mama is doing well, but not quite there yet. I know it's late in the season, but she is soo close I don't want to stuff it up by harvesting early. 1st 2 pics trichs too clear. Started the winter outdoor grow as an experiment. Extending daylight with artificial light. We have very mild winters, so we'll see how they perform. 3rd pic. Sent from my SM-A500F using Tapatalk
