Update on the Royal Gorilla. Definitely a well balanced toke, good for either the day or night. Maybe a bit too much on the sativa side for any heavy couch-lock like the GDP, so you can still get yourself to doing the more menial tasks of the day. Smoked for the first few times you can feel a headband like experience around the forehead which is something new from anything I've grown before. I must say the aromas are not very harsh or distinctive, I noticed this also during the grow when flowering. No real smell or terpenes to the bud, although what can be smelt falls on the citrus side. Definitely is going on my grow again list. Most well balanced bud and good for the general experience. Goldilocks kinda stuff

Hello folks. I'd like to see if there are any other sativa/landrace/heirloom lovers here. The weed that sends your mind on a trip while leaving your body in tact and sometimes giving energy. For me this type of high has anti depressant qualities and soothing on my psyche over long time periods - my "medicine". This topic is for discussion of pure sativa and almost pure sativa, anything knowingly hybrid with indica or high CBD plants is off topic. CBD is the enemy of a trip high. Thin leafed sativa landraces or heirloom plants are found mostly in the equatorial regions of the world from around 15° north and south of the equator. Its also thought that high altitudes can play a part in evolving thin leaved plants. I have found from my personal travels in southern Africa that coastal humid areas seem to have more thin leafed plants than inland areas. Since I live in a humid area myself, its tough to try and grow the inland plants here out of their climate because they are susceptible to powdery mildew. The popular thin leaf growing regions of the world are best separated into large areas sharing similar plant traits for eg. Thailand/Cambodia/Laos/Vietnam plants are very similar and share many common traits. Mexico/Panama/Guatemala/Honduras plants also very similar. Going further south in the Americas to Peru/Columbia/Brazil you start to see the change to broader leaf plants but its hard to get good examples of plants from these regions because cartels have been importing genetics since the 70s. There are quite a few isolated Columbian sativa that are pure that people have managed to keep around, but in the case of Brazil, I have yet to see one legitimate landrace sativa from there and its all "Crip" basically landrace x modern stuff. I sort the plants and distribute to each section, QB and TS3.. curious if the QBs can match a TS3 But I should have enough to choose from and make a even distribution of good genetics. That's s very cool light meter! I'm not sure which root starter you added but coco/perlite/bonemeal will not be enough basic nutrients for the plant to grow healthy. You can use that mix you made but I would add either compost which you can find anywhere, or worm castings which is better but harder to find. You want to have about 70% your mix to 30% compost/worm castings. You also should add some dolomite lime to it for cal mag, this is also easy to find. Then you will have a decent mix and will have some success. The biggest mistake new growers make is to have a heavy growing medium that doesn't drain well and then over watering the plants. With your medium drainage will be fine. Water every 3-4 days. For when the plants are growing without making buds this is called the vegetative stage. During this time they need 18-24 hours of light per day to stay in this phase. When the plant is big enough you can switch the amount of dark and light to 12/12 and it will trigger the plant to flowering mode and it will start to make buds. Fast plants will take about 8 weeks flowering to finish. Slower plants usually up to 14 weeks unless you got landrace genetics then it can go indefinitely long some times. Another way to do it would be with plain coco and bottle nutrients specialized for coco grows. As you learn you will find your way. Good luck!

That is a pretty comprehensive pictorial from around the world, very interesting. I have grown some nice Swazi gold from said country. 60% of the plants grew as typical Swazi but the remainder expressed differently, indicating possible foreign influence. Still have a few beans in my bank that will be planted. Did enjoy that sativa and they grew very well in our coastal climate. Wouldnt mind growing our famous Dbn Poison one day. What up 420SA Sorry. But this is going to be abit of a long 1. Just out here tryna start a basic, budget, Covid-19, winter grow while confined to the spaces of my home. So i tried growing once before. Failed. Had alot going on. Didnt try again until now. When we are on lock. Anyway. Since i have not figured this shit out yet. I am going to be messing around with bag seeds until i get somewhat of a useable plant. I am basically just trying to grow as a hobby. As something exciting to do while chilling at home. Not expecting amazing yields. Or the best looking plant or anything like that. I just want that rewarding feeling of growing my own plant from start to finish. So anyway. It is winter. So abit of a challenge. I did manage to germinate in a shot glass and then paper towel. Roughly 36-40 hours. Tap roots were about 12mm long. Got my hands on some coco(R40)(cheap stuff-brick form). Rinsed it out. Got me a small bag of perlite(R20).(tons of videos and mixes i have seen have perlite. Never used it before.) Added abit of bone meal(about R40)and root starter pebbles(lying around) to the coco and perlite. Just for a sprinkle of nutrients. Until i manage to get my hands on some easily accessible (walk-in-store) "cal-mag" / "cannabis growing soil" So after mixing them all together. I potted in some 1 liter lunch tins that looked cool and were R10 at a discount store close to home.(i did drill a bunch of holes for drainage.) So i wanted to start with this coco mix( as alot of people say coco is the easiest for new growers to get started). And either transplant and keep the same mix. And add the cal-mag supplement needed for coco. Or Get a right kinda soil. And when ready to transplant. Use the soil. You guys can advise. So now since its cold as B#$%S these days. I decided to get some cheap LEDs 20w each. 1670 lumens each. 6000k each. (from the same discount store - R100 for 3 lights. With fittings) Lux meter reading below with the plants about 50mm away from soil For the seedling stage and to just extend the daylight hours at the moment. I thought it would be a good idea to have those. So the plan is . Keep the plants in the sun between 9am, bright and warm until 5pm, still considerably bright and warm. And the rest of the time it could be under the 3 lights. I am still gona figure out how much of darkness to give them. You guys could advise on that aswell please. I am starting with 5 bag seeds. I am expecting to end with atleast 1 plant or 2 at most. So potted the germinated seeds on Tuesday evening. Really impatient. Hope i get something to grow. Bored as hell in these troubling times of ours. Sorry about the long message. Lockdown is getting to me. Please give me as much direction and opinion as you like. I am open to suggestions. Ask questions and for pics if needed.

Truely amazing how far the cannabis plant has come where you can find a wonderful indica looking plant thats totally sativa in high. thanks for this man! Subbed!

That seedling starter is NPK of 2-3-2. It similar to the bonemeal you added. You may be adding too much P with both bonemeal and this seedling starter, but not sure of the amounts you added, probably going to be fine.

@oldsandals ok sweet. Thanks alot. Will give it ago. Watered yesterday with some run off. So will wait a couple of days. Doesnt really dry out much due to temps at the moment. Also would the pic below work for the dolomite?

Hey. Thanks I will download that and check it out. Seeds come built in with about 2 weeks of nutrients stored in their first leaves called cotyledons, so they will grow regardless. But using some seagro which is an acidic fish emulsion will work fine to add the nutrients that are missing from your mix. Always start with 30% of the label dosage and work your way up to stronger doses as you see the plants coping. Quite often these labels ask you to use way too strong of dilution.

Sin e they potted for now. Maybe i could wait for the 1st couple of sets of leaves? Also where could you reccomend i get the dolomite lime from? Local walk in store Was thinking of getting bottle nutrients when the plant has developed alot more. I do however have a 1 liter " seagro " That i was advised by a couple of friends to mix in with my water for when i do water. Pics of the root starter and seagro attached. I am hoping that the current mix is enough to get me through 2/3 weeks in these containers. With just watering with seagro maybe. Just need something to start growing.

Necro But I'd have a look at the Wasabi NFT system by Urban Organics. I've grown tomatoes and other herbs in them before but would be interesting to see what someone could do with cannabis. https://www.urbanorganics.co.za/product/the-wasabi/?v=68caa8201064 You wouldn't be able to go very long or big with your grow though. The tubes get clogged up by the roots quite quickly, blocking the return flow back to the reservoir. The speed of growth however was quite phenomenal, even under cheap blurple lights.

Jarred the Royal Gorilla, total dry weight is 54g The GDP weighed in at 36g. So the total grow for two plants with my wonky mainline came in at 90g Which brings this grow to a close. My conclusion is that my yields were diminished by a poorly structured mainline that had way too many side shoots that produced pissy little airy buds that took away from the main colas. I went in mentally wanting to see what would happen if certain shoots were left to grow along with the main stems but not nearly any of them grew anything noteworthy. I have a really good idea of how I want to mainline my next plants and go back to a similar method that I incorporated in my first grow; designating and favouring the main stems and focusing energy to the main colas with a tactfully done defolation to complement. I also experimented with heavy fluctuations in temperature between lights on and lights off during flower, which yielded in the most colour production I've seen on any of my plants so far. I do feel that I started too early with the fluctuations; essentially at flip. I think it would have been better to do it closer to the end and final week of flowering, during the ripening stage. The overall temperature of both plants during the entire flowering period was quite cold in general, averaging at about 15C I'd guess, with lows as far as 11C. Although no adverse affects were experienced health wise, I do feel it had diminished potential yields. Tasty buds have been grown and enjoyed regardless. Speaking of, having had some of the Gran Daddy Purple after a week of drying and a further week of curing, it is a very mellow almost meditative strain. I wouldn't suggest any thought-heavy tasks while on the GDP as the mind really wants to wonder. I would say it is very good for stress and winding down in the evenings. A bitter grapefruit aroma can be enjoyed from the grinder after crushing a little bit of the herb. It's a sneaky one too with a drawn out affect. You wonder where the high is initially and as you wonder, you keep wondering, only to realise further down the line that you are in fact quite stoned. I would definitely like to grow this strain again. Once I have had some time with the Royal Gorilla I'll post a little short something something

Thanks all. i ran into major issues last night which turned out to be my 320w. it seems to be overloading my power somehow and then yeah all hell breaks loose and my lighting schedule has been interrupted for 3 days now. i didnt know because the tripping of the light happens irregularly. and disables my wifi timer whcih doesnt automatically switch on. this now means that i need to remove some lights. (i suspect im pulling more amps than my line is allowing me to) So whats the future of my pretty buds looking like? probably goung to get hermies. so ill be picking seeds out of something i guess. install a power regulator so that when shit kicks in it doesnt overload the powerline. remove some light. i mean who needs to grow under 1040w. im sure i can have a nice grow under 720w aswell. i will be rebuilding my grow room soon some pics of what i think im.about to loose to hermies

the Just Cannabis Soil stated that you can grow in this soil with only Water no nutes needed. i am of the Judas type that doesnt believe shit people say even if its "proven" so i bought a bag and stuck a lumpy space princess clone into it. stuck it outside in less than favourable conditions. watered it with Tap water only. below is the result of Just Cannabis soil woth 0 molasses added. microbes and no ph of 7.8 tap water. (of course it got some rain water too. i also if i saw a bucket of water that filled due to rain would chuck that over it too)

At R132/g you may as well buy bed from one of the bigger, more well known groups / people who sell bud. You can get a variety of strains and get to see what it looks like before you buy and you get it now and not in 4 months tiime. That makes more sense to me, more perks I reckon. Gee I dont know hey. 40g is little. Fair for a single small plant no trianing... How many months did he wait? How many R1300 payments were made to get that 40g? 4 months worth? If I take those payments as my running costs of my tent, then over a 4 month period, I'm looking at between 400-500g I'm a heavy smoker. I need quality and quantity.

So I came across this business again recently on accident. A customer I had brought me what was the end result of a 'Trial' package (R1320/mo, single plant cycle). Unfortunately he did not actually give me a sample of the weed, I can't blame him, the guy had waited close to 4 months for a bankie so I can understand the stinginess. I must admit, the delivered package which contained the produce was pretty damn stellar (wish I had taken a pic, but alas..) It most certainly gave the allure of a high-end product, and I am sure every customer would have been very proud to have received such a pretty box packed with boonj. Now for the weed itself. It 'looked' pretty good and frosty, although in my opinion a little on the uncured side. It also still smelt very green, but pleasant nonetheless. It was roughly 40g worth, so pretty good if what you are told to expect is 20-30+ (I guess this time he luckily got the +). Half-baked review I suppose. I would like to know if anyone here has since gotten a chance to actually smoke anything coming from these guys or at least know of anyone that is using the service and their thoughts. Coming on a year since they launched, I can only assume they haven't hit any 'major' legal issues or wishy-washy busts..yet.. I also see now you can choose a strain from a mother plant from another member instead of starting from scratch from seed must definitely help with avoiding dud seeds, rogue males or hermies, plus turnaround time is shortened.. although I'd swap that turnaround time for more yield/curing time.

So he paid R132.00 per a gram and waited 4 months for it. Hope that stuff is top shelf.
