I am interested in anything tasty right now.. I focus on the US genetics. The Gelato left a bit of a heavy impression. Haven't had anything like it in years. I focus on 42FastBuds for this year, want to see if they are really just THAT outstanding. Sweet Seeds are US too.. so rather eager to check them out. The Bruce Banner from Monster Genetics is nice, hits, smooth and a light fruity, earthy smoke. Same.. not even close to the Gelato, different league. Is hard to explain.. FastBuds call it a Desert Weed.. and that really fits as description.3 points

Procedure is rather simple. The auto gene is recessive but due to its unique character easy to spot. PP, Pp, pP will be photo plants you need pp to be an auto. When you made your cross from the Auto with the Photo, those seeds you put under 24/0 light, the Autos will flower, the photos not. Remove the photos, breed the remaining flowering into seeds and the result must be pure autos. I have regular Ruderalis here on Wednesday ^^ then I start my Swazi Gold Auto and Chocolato Project.3 points

I have 4 diaries on Growdiaries.com .. and got contacted by Sweet Seeds yesterday, if I want to be a seed tester, they like my diaries. I wrote back: I only do autos . Answer: "Then just select autos ;)" Even have some humor. But had a catch, they only send the seeds to my German address, not to SA. Hope that changes when we get legal seeds or a working Post Office . But I made a quick selection, Cream Caramel, Green Poison and Red Mandarine (not fair only 3 from about 25 to choose from ).. 4 seeds each and free shipping American Breeders rock.. never tried Sweet Seeds, looking forward to the tastes of those three. My aunties just have to send it further If they would have send from the US, i would have used my Planetexpress account. Anyone has an idea why they all ship from Spain these days?3 points

So took me some time to type out my first attempt. So basically my first attempt to germinate a seed was not successful placing the seed into water and then in a Jiffy Pod. The second seed also failed by using the seed in the water method and placing the seed in serviette and bag placed in my germination environment which include a heat pad. I germinated 2x seeds at the same time just to be safe so technically seed 3, germinated using the soaking and serviette method. So the steps below describe the day to day for Seed 3. Seed 3: White Widow CBD (Fem Autoflower) Day 1. 21st June – Placed the seed in Ph`d water around 12h00 noon. Going to leave the seed in water for approximately +-36hrs Day 2. 22nd June – Seed still in the cup of water. Day 3. 23rd June – 36 Hours later, Placed the seed in the damp serviette and placed it in my humidity environment which include a small heat pad , humidity is around 50 to 60 percent. Day 4. 25th June – Seed germinated , small root appeared. Left the baggie for around 24hrs in the humidity environment. (Pic 1) (Pic 2) Day 5. 26th June – Root is around 2cm long, (Pic1) transferred the seed to a Jiffy Pot. (Pic 2) Placed it into humidity environment. Day 6. 27th June – Huge surprise this morning, The seedling was standing 2cm tall. 2x Yellow Leaves (Pic3) (Pic 3) (Pic 4) Day 7. 28th June – Yellow leaves turned green, and seedling is doing well. Removed the Seedling from the Jiffy pod, and planted into a small cup. Cup was filled with Formula 1 grow medium that have been flushed out and watered PH level 6.1. The Seedlings is placed under my new LED lights system.(Pic 4) 150w Lumiled 2d 3030 Leds currently around 60cm away from seedling. Keeping humidity between 30 and 40 percent to encourage the seedling to pull water from the soil and stimulate root growth. Tent temperature around 20-26 degrees. Before After Day8. 29th June – Day 12 3rd July – Steady Growth, watered three days after replanting. Day 16 7th July – Transplanted to a bigger container on the 5th, Steady Growth, Plant really loving the bigger space.2 points

Good day my fellow gromies... So.. the below lady I germed for my Girlfriend. There were two seedlings but one turned out to be male.. These are the first to pop from seed I want to play with.. They are expected to be a mix between Cheeze and Swazi.. My girlfriends little windowsill/balcony grow will determine if I will waste any further time on the seeds in the comming season. Have quite a few of Totemic's genetics I will most definately grow out and sample can't wait.. After the male was removed she was potted up.. way late but rather late than never. It is a nuteless grow with some of FF Classic mixed in.. The next week will decide the fate of the seed batch.. Happy growing and stay safe... Covid's Real People..2 points

Cool, try to also change the direction of the air inside the room, otherwise it will make a vortex and not refresh all the air in that space correctly. Check my kak diagram, blue is air flow, red is stale air pockets.2 points

Im also looking at sweet seeds. Those bois really kitted you out with some very decent genetics! That red mandarin really has me drooling!!2 points

@Danknice going on those beans! Iv made a few crosses with an auto flower mother and photo period pollen... So far I haven't found an auto flowering plant. But from what my research tells me... You should have a 25% retention of the auto gene... So maybe I'm just unlucky2 points

Nice growing @Prom keep it up dude, good to see the Autos getting some love here on 420SA. Growdiaries is a excellent site, congrats on the beans, hopefully the Postal service will resume work at some point. Autos are fun, i have some Auto hybrids u could test if u ever feel like dabbling in them. RQS NLAuto x NL (photoperiod) and also G13 Labs AutoGigabud x NL (photoperiod). I have 0 space to pop em now but somewhere in the future i'd like to see their progeny. Both Autos were tasty strong smoke. Also curious how many will keep the auto gene and how many will be photoperiod.2 points

Also have a final result for the 3 Angels from Dutch Passion. Got a total of 187.1g dry dry ^^ i want to Honey Bee them, so dry dry is fine. 62g per plant average (for curing, would have to add some moisture again). Like the Dutch Passion Blackberry, is just not the same like the US autos. If the plant would have gone 20cm up more, she would easy have reached 80-90g. But all three were about the same size.. that seems to be it. Good news.. a 60cm high tent would work You could easy pack 10 of those in a 1.2x0.6 space. They hardly reached the outside of the pot (230x230, square). But like all Autos.. they form buds2 points

Hope everyones doing great! I have a few things on my plate right now and too many things keeping me from reaching that desired budget to buy everything I want. Taking things slow, step by step and trying not to do anything by force, will get where I wana be sooner or later! For the time being, since my first DIY grow cupboard, I've always been collecting all sorts of parts and materials to use for a grow, as they happen upon my way. Just for in case, you know? I took cuttings from the plants I'm running in the tent at the moment, had them sitting in some jiffies in a humidity dome on a heat mat under a CFL. Did manage to get some roots within 15 days!!! Was quite happy about it, but the fucking heat of the CFLs burnt the leaves crispy brown. My mind and money is set on my DIY 300w QB with some samsung strips, then gona use the Apollo 8 blurple I have now for veg only. Didn't wana spend much, or anything really, but the CFLs had to go!!! Just to replace them I got one of those flood lights I'm reading about on the forum, checked out all the places around me that sells any kinda light, best I could find was a 50w, 3200Lumens, 6500Kelvin. For R530 with a 2 year warrenty and it's literally built for outdoors so can hose them down if I ever felt like it. I was lucky enough to happen upon a huge lump of reflective material. a Few pallet loads of chemicals that needed to be kept cool was shipped wrapped in diamond mylar. Literally feels the same as the material of the mars tents with the little square patterns. Thick, almost stays in the shape you bend it. I even have a hard time cutting it as it seems to have a bit of wire in it too, to make the square pattern. I obviously took all of it, because it was free and was going to get recycled anyway. On the farm we have quite a few "scrap materials" laying around. I asked boss man if I could have 2 x 5m wooden battons that are 2cmx2cm square. They cost like R60 a pole I think, but I got them free. I bought softwood cupboard panels, you get the one that's smooth matte white one side and rough wood brown on the other side then there's a smooth wood and rough wood sided ones. I already had my reflective material I went with the both sides wooden, because it was a little cheaper, but I'm sure you could use the white ones and skip on the reflective material and get the same results. I payed R155 for a 2m x 3m "sheet". Picked up the bigger version of the Hydor bathroom extractor for R400 quite a while ago. Had a small desk fan laying around, also a thermometer and hygrometer so didn't have to buy those. Odds - roll of ducktape, wood glue, pack of screws, 1 x ladies stockings, 2 of the smallest door hinges, pack of smallest screw-in hooks, 3mm x 2m chain, 5m wire and plug for light. Started with the 10m wood, cut 8 x 70cm pieces and 4 x 100cm pieces. Using my handy dandy wood glue and screws, I made 2 x 70cm squares with the 8 pieces and used the 4 x 100cm to mount the squares onto. So the space is 70x70x100. Quite alright for veg. Using the ductape I covered the softwood board with the reflective and stuck them to the wood frame, again using the glue then some screws. (The glue alsp helps fill gaps for light leaks) I used the blade from a metal saw with the fine teeth to cut squares in the bottom of the wood pannel for passive air intakes and I made a circle where the extractor fan is fitted. Extractor aswell as the passive intakes are covered with the ladies stockings, again using the ductape. Inside the passive intakes I cut an extra piece of mylar just to hang over the stockings to help with light leaking in there during lights off. I screwed 2 of the hooks in the top wood beams, hooked the chain from side to side, hung the light and plugged the whole bitch up! Basically a glorified propagation box. Here she is: Top right corner black circle is the stockings covered mouth of the extractor fitted with a ducting that links into the ducting from my other tent, this box thing stands next to my tent. Here is one of the passive intakes, to understand "the flap" a bit better. Also a close up of the reflective material. I planted the best 4 cuttings into their first pots. This is their home now untill flower time. I believe once I do get another tent I'll still keep this bad boy for further seed pops and maybe build a nice bubble cloner to fit. Happy growing!1 point

Just a little progress of My auto Pruple Glam Kush by Bulk seed bank. She started off very slow after germination but once the 2nd set of leaves shooting out she really started growing! I decided to do some LST then I snapped the top (unintentional topped) I let her recover and continued with the LST and she has just is doing well with the lower bud sites evening out the canopy. I am using a coco/soil mix with Bio Ocean fertilizer and feeding Biotrissol every 3rd day.1 point

Little update, I chopped the gelato as she picked up a black fly infestation. Kinda weird since the LSD was directly beside her and her soil is clean. Not a train smash since a few trichomes on the main bud were amber already, I was just waiting for the lower buds to catch up. Not a huge yielder (probably due to my mistakes) but some really dense and sticky buds.1 point

This information by @Prom is good stuff, You want that fan oscillating, or another smaller fan somewhere in the oscillating and kicking air out of regular patterns. You will get WPM is your flow isn't good or changing directions and refreshed constantly (last part if you not doing co2 and closed room, and controlling the humidity precisely). Your one fan, not oscillating, is risking it in my opinion.1 point

Sweet, you can kind of see the angle is okay and distance isn't far, and if you angle it up, I think it's good to go. You can also lift the fabric pots off the floor and then get more upwards flow through the plants. You have passive air ports at the bottom, or are those the slots you made, or you pumping air in with the other inlet fan?1 point

@SkunkPharmThanks for your advice, I have just given the plants a feeding of Efficient Pro Soil, not sure how much I was supposed to use as the directions for application on the bottle are more suitable for commercial agriculture. I applied 4ml/l and did not ph the mixture. Do you water till runoff or not? And how much do you let your soil dry out before watering again? Thanks a mil1 point

Hi guys, Thanks for the replies. I am using FF Microlife, Fish mix, Bio Grow, Root juice, Top max and Bio Bloom. After mixing the biobizz with my dechlorinated tap water the ph sits at around 6.7-6.8. I am adjusting it further using GH PH down to around 6-6.3. I have also added EM Pro soil microbes too, in addition to the FF Microlife which is a product I really enjoy using. I was applying one biobizz feed and then a light FF Microlife feed at every other watering. One feed, one micro. I have been quite zealous using the microbes, should I inoculate the soil further with additional microbes? Thanks for the help1 point
-
I am growing one plant in ff soil. I have no problems. I dont pH my water at all. What I have learnt over the years is to inoculate your soil with a good microbial blend. You could make your own and there is lots of great products out there. Products like explode grow, EM1 or Biodyne. Micro organisms will sort your problem out.1 point

I have a few bulk seed bank autos, they cheap so I don't expect much but I have seen others grown beautiful plants. I did try to clone the top but then decided to chuck it, so yes it definitely decreased my yeiled but I think I might get 4 main colas now because of the topping.1 point

Just had to check the seeds again.. and if I am not double mistaken.. you might actually get those seeds.. I think in my inner greed I took those seeds outside of the auto section Yummy stuff confuses me and I don't do fems. If that really is the case.. I send you the red mandarin fems once here.. just one condition.. you put a grow report up at growdiaries.com and here.1 point

Yeah I did think about that, but can't get around the poles as they are the corners of the panels with the panels mounted directly onto them. I also used some alu tape to seal the edges in case of light leaks. There's also wood glue and screws between the wood poles and panels. If I tied something around the poles I'd have to make more holes in the sides and that's not necessary. I'll find a hook with a bracket that allows me to screw in more than one place. I can add more hooks and do a 4 way spread with a chain from hook to hook and hang the light from there, distributing the 2kg of weight between all the hooks. Think I'll just grab bigger hooks. Also then much easier for me to adjust light distance by just adding or removing one chain link. Got 3mm chain for R8 a meter. Super cheap so I got 10m for future purpose aswell, builders asked R25/m for the same chain.1 point
-
I'll definitly try that, before the rebuild. I might even attach the bubbler I made to the pump and bubble the water with the tea bag in it for a few hours before then do the strain and pour that into the vortex. Thanks for the tip!1 point
-
@PsyCLown One thing I forgot to mention is the L-brackets I put in every corner where the wood frame meets. It's quite sturdy, before I put the panels on I was able to sit on top of the frame and I weigh around 70kg. So there's wood glue, long ass screws at wood on wood sites plus brackets with screws to keep the whole frame stable. I think the wood poles would snap in half before the corners come loose, but even for that to happen it would have to be carrying some real heavy weight for real long time or experience one hell of an impact. I believe this thing is much stronger than a normal tent, I also only have the one flood light which weighs like 2kg hanging from the wood. My concern rather lies with the hooks that screw into the wood where the light hangs from. I'm sure if anything was gona give in it would probably be those hooks. I just grabbed the ones I thought would work, but they're real small so I might replace them.1 point

So it begins. Removed all the shelves and cut the top shelf to 150 strips on either side. Still alot of work to do1 point

Cool bruh. Tea looks good. The ''teabag'' thing also messed with my setup- no vortex and all kinds of bits, sand and floaters etc. Tried a different technique, to avoid any solids in my brew bucket. Pour the ''solid ingredients'' from your teabag into a seperate bucket, add a few liters of water and stir vigorously to extract as much goodness and micro organisms as possible. Strain the ''mush'' and add that liquid to the brew bucket. Repeat. Then add nutrient source and molasses. It might not be 100% efficient at extracting all the goodness out of the solid material due to shorter contact time with the water, but its damn close. Works well for me, can't tell the diffs. Very nice, how big is it? My concern would be the weight the wooden frame can support. Last thing you want is for it to come down and damage your plants and equipment. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk1 point

Biggest problem is smell is subjective. An hallucination at best. And then those feelings are subjective too. The same weed isnt going to have the same effect on me and you. Tolerance, other contra indicating medications we may be on etc. What is great about the human cannabis relationship is that it's as unique as each plant and individual is. Pure magic. But I get your point that you want a description, and the plant you grow out needs to meet that description. Tough one in a world where seed production practices are as varied in as many ways as there are breeders.1 point

Quick update. The LSD is on day 15 of flower and looking good. She has stretched quite abit and stands at 50cm.1 point

Had the plants out in the sun today as I have been fiddling with the grow area. Just couldn't resist taking a pic of the gelato. She is so frosty and stinks up any area you place her in, even outside in the open. I see why @Prom is so fond of this strain. Would be nice if she was bigger, but I will take quality over quantity any day.1 point

I didn't mix my coco at a 50/50 ratio, kinds eyeballed it though. I did soak it with calmag for the cation exchange though as it was not buffered coco. Coco and fertigation is ideal I believe. What I'm currently running, although just moved across and had to transplant some plants from soil to coco. QB's are awesome! I love mine! I find they increase temps in my small tent by 2C only.
