  5. Hey guys awildmeme here :) Hope to share some knowledge and grow the dankest of dank. Based in beautiful Cape Town. Ended up here being refered from Carbonite's growers thread ( PC forum not the best for discussing home grows ) . Currently doing my 1st grow . Did go balls deep with the tent and all and already busy converting my extra cupboard into a veg/propagation area. The bug has bitten and I hope to be here for a while with you guys.

  9. @awildmeme Welcome bro... Just a few quick tips. That slow release fertilizer is not for cannabis grown in coco. It's going to cause issues down the line. Seedlings require food alot earlier in coco compared to soil. Once you see the 2nd set of true leaves the plants reserves will be close to being depleted. With regards to nutes the floraseries 3 part works well. You will still need to supplement calcium as there is not enough calcium in these nutes to keep the plant and the coco's buffering happy. The only calcium available locally that can serve that purpose correctly is greenhouse feeding company Calcium. It's expensive but should last you a few grows. Everything else will cause issues with too much N. If you on a budget hortimix 3 part can grow decent bud. None of this is to confuse you. Research coco and all the properties of it so you better equipped for the feeding. With regards to ph... GHE ph drops are excellent and very cheap. Don't buy a cheap ph pen, rather just the drops. Set your ph correctly everytime and you will have a happy garden all the time. Hope to have been of help...

  10. Welcome brother, They mean in run off, how ever much you poor in feed wise, you get a percentage running out the pot at the bottom. Lekker setup and glad to have another on board

  11. Noob question but 10-15% runoff meaning ? If I water with 1l there should drain about 100-150ml of water if I would guess ?

  12. PM is a bane to any grower. There are many ways to deal with PM. From just removing the infected leaf, to using bicarb, vinegar etc. I personally always have neem in my IPM. The neem stimulates the plants immune system, increases resistance. For PM specifically though, I like spraying a bicarb solution onto the areas with good results. 1tsp dissolved in 1l. Add a drop or two of sunlight as surfactant and spray infected leaves top and bottom.

  17. Greetings bro, and welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy your time here and we convince you to stay. Lol Okay, so your setup looks good and temps sound okay... Cfls are okay for seedlings and clones... You can pull off veg with a couple more cfl bulbs if you aren't planning on getting a veg light. With the addition of the 2:3:2 fert in your soil and the fact that seedlings should be good for the first 2 weeks without nutes... I'd say yeah you're safe for a couple weeks. It's just that you won't have a way of knowing how the general purpose affected the pH of the medium... Shouldn't be a train smash though if your water is alright. GHE has a pH test kit for like 80bucks and can be found at many gardening stores, and like all grow shops. I can help with your GHE feeding schedule. My medium is a mix of coco, Perlite and a bunch of amendments, but I found the feeding schedule that I'll attach is a good starting point to figure out your strength limits and then tweak it to your grow - keep pH in mind here as well once you start using it. I use the GHE Flora Tripack (Micro, Gro & Bloom) and nothing else... Works like a charm. The amendments in my medium allow it to hold water for a few days which means I don't have to water every day (as you would a normal coco/Perlite mix) so maybe someone else can help you there.

  20. Ps, if you remove leaves or spray, or basically anything right now with regards to the mildew, turn off your fans, and use a wet cloth or something to cover the leave when removing to not send spores all over. Plus you're going to have to clean all fans, and walls and surfaces in there now, to be very sure and use peroxide and jik. Wash 2 or 3 times with new water each time. Afterwards, increase air circulation and more oscillating fans for the win.

  22. Thank you for the warm welcome @Newbie_2020 @CreX @Bakstein420 @SkunkPharm Here is my grow tent . Its only 80x80x160 since I stay in a second floor flat and space is limited. I have converted 2 spare storage cupboards into propagation / early veg rooms ( Its easier for me to control the temp in one room early on ) I can keep my cupboard above 20 at all times since its in my room with my PC and a small heater. In my mind this will allow the smaller plants to thrive a bit better. Rest of my flat ( where the tent is ) can go down to 16 on a cold night so its not to bad. I just figured if not why not. Once the 3 seedlings are a bit bigger ill move the other CFL light to the other side so the light is a bit more concentrated . ( I know these lights wont grow the plants big ) All the plants in my cupboard is bag seeds so they will probably move to the outside balcony area if they are females . Will be adding some herbs outside to lower suspicion to a point. I am running 2 putins punch seeds in the tent and they are about a 5 days old ( will send some pics later ). Soil im using coco and perlite as my base ( Added some 2:3:2 all purpose in the groun when mixing just to let it set , should be good for the first 4 weeks or so ? Need to do a bit more reading before the firs 4 weeks regarding nutes . Gonna probably just get the GHP soft water 3 pack . To my noob knowledge it covers all bases. Using rain water at the moment to water the plants as im waiting on my PH pen. Gonna grab a swimming pool PH tester kit this afternoon just to last me till I get the PH pen. Overall looking to grow 2 in the tent and 2 - 3 small plants on the stoep

  26. Again, it's only a pleasure to help. Which Lux app is that, looks like you can change some variables or Kelvin and such? On Migro YouTube channel, he takes a Apogee PAR meter and actually tests it side by side a different app from the store, he has the link to it and tests it at different Kelvin too for reference, and lays it on a graph, to get slightly closer to the actual PAR of your light. Might help... So far excellent write up brother and await the next to come Added:

  34. Greetings 420 Fam. I've decided to put this thread together for the newbies to the indoor growing scene and anyone else that it may help. Anyway, it's for everyone to have a look at and hopefully it will give them a little bit of guidance when it comes to choosing the method of training that they want to use on their cannabis tree. Honestly, I wish someone broke it down for me when I started as it would've saved me a few months of experimenting by myself and accidentally coming across new methods somewhere random to try out. Anyway, here goes; Okay, so there's a lot to consider when you're aiming to increase your yield while not outgrowing the space you have available... Let's start with the simple stuff. My suggestion would be to research a bit on what you read here first before committing fully. Here's what you need to consider; - Acquiring good genetics (high yielding plant). Your bagseed flowers may look awesome, but most of the time it's genetics are a big twisted mess and stable genetics will yield you more bud per/m2. - Setting up a hydroponic system will get you a faster growth rate, but not necessarily a higher yield (although the time taken to get it would be shorter by a week or 2). - If you're using soil, you need a well mixed grow medium with enough drainage to ensure proper oxygen concentration in the root zone. - Use a good nutrient line if you aren't using living soil (it doesn't have to be expensive, it just has to work well). - Make sure your space isn't too big for your light (you may end up with airy, smaller buds or just a really slow growth rate if you ignore your limits here). - Ensure your plants get enough direct airflow to develop healthy, strong stems and so they receive ample fresh air. If you've considered of all of that, then you don't have much else to decide. LST works well, but it takes a lot of patience and when using it even with FIMing, but it isn't the most effective. This is because you still have to, in a way, let the plant grow normally and constantly train it to fit your space FIMing your tree will just give you more branches to train. The next 2 methods I'm going to mention are ways of making the plant grow into your space and it sort of has a predefined shape, which requires minimal training and even less once you decide to flower. Mainlining a tree requires less patience, and a bit of confidence when using this method because you will have to use some heavy HST with LST. I've used a slight variation of this on my last grow. I came out with about 204g of top shelf bud off a single tree (in a 70cm x 70cm tent). "Quadlining" has been coming up more recently and I've done this on a Microgrow I had running a while ago. You don't remove as much plant material as the previous method but the results are pretty similar. It requires slightly less time than Mainlining but also works well on maximizing yield... I was able to get 40g from 1sq ft off a single, small tree. Both these methods were effective at creating an even canopy with minimal LST and without the need of a net/trellis, but they do involve HST which means you will have recovery periods that add to your total length of the grow. I haven't tried any other methods, but from my understanding; ScrOG is one of the most effective at getting a maximum yield as this is a more controlled way of creating an even canopy and involves using a rigid screen through which you weave the tree as it grows. This makes maximum use of your space as you can decide what size grid to use and when you think its packed enough to flower. This method comes at the cost of a long veg time and regular maintenance, due to having to check which tops are growing pass the others and getting others in optimal positions. I'm not sure what other yield boosting techniques are commonly used but IMO; I think you're better off running your trees with the mainlining technique. Do some searching on Google to see how each of the methods work and see which one you'd feel comfortable doing. Everyone has their own preference I know this isn't a complete, thorough guide or like a how-to, but I hope it helps some of you. Feel free to also share the link with anyone that has a yield boosting question that can be answered by this post. If you're gonna add information to this thread, all I ask is that you please be sure of the methods you're posting. I've tried different methods and I've compiled this from my own experience. 35. If I may add to the already extensive and well written post by @TheUltimateNoob Like mentioned, Those in soil fertilizers are rubbish and will cause you more hassle than worth. I also agree more on a pH pen, over the drops as I used the drops 2 grows now and got a decent pH pen, and its day and night, especially with the Biobizz as its discoloration of the water makes it hard to get those .3's or perfectly dialed in. Trick with a pH pen, that they dont tell you is to have the bulb stand in storage solution, otherwise it dries out and you wasted your money.

  36. You want to get everything that air touches, I missed that you had a dehumidifier or would have called it too. Does yours have a HEPA filter? You can't use the same one if you do, unless you spray soak it too with jik but could destroy the filters purpose. Spray bottle very handy for this job All over, the ceiling, the door, floors, anything in the room.

  38. Thought we could have a place to drop info about new genetics, especially those that hit our shores first so to speak. I've noticed that some of the LA strains are very strong visually and have strong effects but sometimes they only grow in clusters on the plant.Anyone know what type of cross causes this?

  39. No problem at all man. Really amped to see how your grow turns out [emoji1362][emoji1377] And yeah, you'll notice how quickly your tree responds to light intensity, just tinker with the positions a bit to find out where your lights sweet spot is and you get some nice even growth. I'm excited to get going on my experiment as well, I've just finished setting up my entire grow space, so I'll be creating some new threads and diaries soon... Finally have the space to grow more than 1 tree Sent from my POCOPHONE F1 using Tapatalk

  40. Hi all I am Norseman, a hobby grower you might call it and a reviewer of gear for Vaping and now also for gear connected to dry herb. The reason for doing reviews on gear directed towards cannabis is because of chronic back pain and the only thing giving me some relief is cannabis. Nice to be here.
