Hey guys awildmeme here :) Hope to share some knowledge and grow the dankest of dank. Based in beautiful Cape Town. Ended up here being refered from Carbonite's growers thread ( PC forum not the best for discussing home grows ) . Currently doing my 1st grow . Did go balls deep with the tent and all and already busy converting my extra cupboard into a veg/propagation area. The bug has bitten and I hope to be here for a while with you guys.4 points

@awildmeme Welcome bro... Just a few quick tips. That slow release fertilizer is not for cannabis grown in coco. It's going to cause issues down the line. Seedlings require food alot earlier in coco compared to soil. Once you see the 2nd set of true leaves the plants reserves will be close to being depleted. With regards to nutes the floraseries 3 part works well. You will still need to supplement calcium as there is not enough calcium in these nutes to keep the plant and the coco's buffering happy. The only calcium available locally that can serve that purpose correctly is greenhouse feeding company Calcium. It's expensive but should last you a few grows. Everything else will cause issues with too much N. If you on a budget hortimix 3 part can grow decent bud. None of this is to confuse you. Research coco and all the properties of it so you better equipped for the feeding. With regards to ph... GHE ph drops are excellent and very cheap. Don't buy a cheap ph pen, rather just the drops. Set your ph correctly everytime and you will have a happy garden all the time. Hope to have been of help...3 points

Welcome brother, They mean in run off, how ever much you poor in feed wise, you get a percentage running out the pot at the bottom. Lekker setup and glad to have another on board3 points

Noob question but 10-15% runoff meaning ? If I water with 1l there should drain about 100-150ml of water if I would guess ?3 points

PM is a bane to any grower. There are many ways to deal with PM. From just removing the infected leaf, to using bicarb, vinegar etc. I personally always have neem in my IPM. The neem stimulates the plants immune system, increases resistance. For PM specifically though, I like spraying a bicarb solution onto the areas with good results. 1tsp dissolved in 1l. Add a drop or two of sunlight as surfactant and spray infected leaves top and bottom.3 points

What a steep learning curve. But it's so awesome to visualize the minutest vapor atmospheric disturbances on the screen. Point the laser, and the sensors just collect all sorts of info.3 points

Damn @TheUltimateNoob thank you so much . I spoke to a friend of mine that also grows and he uses the GHE as well . Thinking this will be the route I take . Splurged a bit hard this month on everything so payday needs to come for those nutes .2 points

Greetings bro, and welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy your time here and we convince you to stay. Lol Okay, so your setup looks good and temps sound okay... Cfls are okay for seedlings and clones... You can pull off veg with a couple more cfl bulbs if you aren't planning on getting a veg light. With the addition of the 2:3:2 fert in your soil and the fact that seedlings should be good for the first 2 weeks without nutes... I'd say yeah you're safe for a couple weeks. It's just that you won't have a way of knowing how the general purpose affected the pH of the medium... Shouldn't be a train smash though if your water is alright. GHE has a pH test kit for like 80bucks and can be found at many gardening stores, and like all grow shops. I can help with your GHE feeding schedule. My medium is a mix of coco, Perlite and a bunch of amendments, but I found the feeding schedule that I'll attach is a good starting point to figure out your strength limits and then tweak it to your grow - keep pH in mind here as well once you start using it. I use the GHE Flora Tripack (Micro, Gro & Bloom) and nothing else... Works like a charm. The amendments in my medium allow it to hold water for a few days which means I don't have to water every day (as you would a normal coco/Perlite mix) so maybe someone else can help you there.2 points

Ps, if you remove leaves or spray, or basically anything right now with regards to the mildew, turn off your fans, and use a wet cloth or something to cover the leave when removing to not send spores all over. Plus you're going to have to clean all fans, and walls and surfaces in there now, to be very sure and use peroxide and jik. Wash 2 or 3 times with new water each time. Afterwards, increase air circulation and more oscillating fans for the win.2 points

Thank you for the warm welcome @Newbie_2020 @CreX @Bakstein420 @SkunkPharm Here is my grow tent . Its only 80x80x160 since I stay in a second floor flat and space is limited. I have converted 2 spare storage cupboards into propagation / early veg rooms ( Its easier for me to control the temp in one room early on ) I can keep my cupboard above 20 at all times since its in my room with my PC and a small heater. In my mind this will allow the smaller plants to thrive a bit better. Rest of my flat ( where the tent is ) can go down to 16 on a cold night so its not to bad. I just figured if not why not. Once the 3 seedlings are a bit bigger ill move the other CFL light to the other side so the light is a bit more concentrated . ( I know these lights wont grow the plants big ) All the plants in my cupboard is bag seeds so they will probably move to the outside balcony area if they are females . Will be adding some herbs outside to lower suspicion to a point. I am running 2 putins punch seeds in the tent and they are about a 5 days old ( will send some pics later ). Soil im using coco and perlite as my base ( Added some 2:3:2 all purpose in the groun when mixing just to let it set , should be good for the first 4 weeks or so ? Need to do a bit more reading before the firs 4 weeks regarding nutes . Gonna probably just get the GHP soft water 3 pack . To my noob knowledge it covers all bases. Using rain water at the moment to water the plants as im waiting on my PH pen. Gonna grab a swimming pool PH tester kit this afternoon just to last me till I get the PH pen. Overall looking to grow 2 in the tent and 2 - 3 small plants on the stoep2 points

Again, it's only a pleasure to help. Which Lux app is that, looks like you can change some variables or Kelvin and such? On Migro YouTube channel, he takes a Apogee PAR meter and actually tests it side by side a different app from the store, he has the link to it and tests it at different Kelvin too for reference, and lays it on a graph, to get slightly closer to the actual PAR of your light. Might help... So far excellent write up brother and await the next to come Added:2 points

Great stuff, thanx bro. I will be sure to keep that in consideration for the final veg stretch. Seems like that stretch will be quite intense.. Thanx for the tip on offsetting the growth. Much appreciated. I am excited to see the main cola exercise, sure it will look awesome with your tree tending skills!2 points

Jissy brother, what's up with that torn foil... Whahahah, just playing So good to see you know your stuff too and got some skills there man, and good thought involved. Like that you made the light run better and cooler probably, lasts longer and shows you like quality over quantity. I actually have a pretty good idea for you with regards to the 12v lights1 point

Cheers mate. So 4weeks into flowering I’m good to go with neem. In a spray bottle all over the plants or just where I see the white devils dandruff?1 point

Wow thanks gents!! I have neem oil, I try @Totemic solution. Just to check can I spray the solution from totemic with Bicarb and the neem oil over flowering buds? Not together but If I use the neem oil instead. Would the neem oil also be 1ml to 1l? guys! Side note. thanks for being there to support!! Awesome to have such irie ppl around to count on. Thanks1 point

The author is not taking into account specially formulated soils, which generally has zero michorizzal input from the 'earth'.1 point

i found the comments quite informative, not so much the article unfortunately his approach to myco's is not as simple as "you should already have so adding more is futile" i would consider this guys opinion if i was a much more experienced grower and i knew for a fact that my myco system is on point if you are in doubt - it seriously is one of the cheaper additives - just add some in - it will not hurt i know this is in the soil section. but mycos in coco and hydro is very important in my opinion and everyone should have a tub of the stuff laying around1 point

Sorry guys the day job has just got me so busy at the moment. I have barely visited the forum in the past week. Closing date was 01/07/2020... that's 1st of July. Forgot to turn off the entries open tag, sorry about that We will get the nominees decided today hopefully and should have the winners for you near the end of the week1 point

@CreX @SkunkPharm @TotemicGreat info gents shot a lot! Im totally new to the growing game and the guys on this site has really helped me alot. Will keep the community posted on this grow. For now all I can do is sit back and let her do her thing1 point

I'm not saying it is wrong to add salts. You could probably do both you must just know what you are doing to the microbes in your soil. But like @CreX is saying molasses will keep them alive. I am currently experimenting with adding wood ash to my water to see if a potassium boost late in flower does anything to the plants.1 point
-
There is people that grow with salts in soil. But at lower doses than what they recomend. If you do have microbes in your soil and you feed salts the plant will stop producing sugars for them. The plant produces sugars to stimulate certain microbes to increase the size of the microbial colonies. Certain microbes breaks down phosphate ions to chelated phosphorus and others break down ammonia to chelated nitrogen. Only chelated ions can be absorbed by the plant. Once you start feeding already chelated ions (nutient salts) the plant stops regulating these microbial colonies and thus will die off as the do not have food. So decide which way you want to go.1 point

Thanks all. i ran into major issues last night which turned out to be my 320w. it seems to be overloading my power somehow and then yeah all hell breaks loose and my lighting schedule has been interrupted for 3 days now. i didnt know because the tripping of the light happens irregularly. and disables my wifi timer whcih doesnt automatically switch on. this now means that i need to remove some lights. (i suspect im pulling more amps than my line is allowing me to) So whats the future of my pretty buds looking like? probably goung to get hermies. so ill be picking seeds out of something i guess. install a power regulator so that when shit kicks in it doesnt overload the powerline. remove some light. i mean who needs to grow under 1040w. im sure i can have a nice grow under 720w aswell. i will be rebuilding my grow room soon some pics of what i think im.about to loose to hermies1 point

So here we go again! Here is a Pic that best describes my grow... And a few closeups. Things are getting interesting! Only a few more weeks before it's chop chop!!1 point

They have grown a bit since the last update and will need to be spread out in the coming weeks... Maybe even repot some into their next homes I had a bit of an over watering issue, but they have since come right... Over watering and or light stress as the light was pretty close. The 8 around the missing center.1 point
