All 3 germinated. Transfered to some slightly larger pots, as the fan was seeming a little strong for the jiffies. The dark green colour bothers me a bit, but it's probably from over watering in the beginning (seems like it's improving though).5 points

Wow!! I already feel like a winner just being mentioned! I tried to be creative and it seems you like me you really really like me thanks for this already feel like a winner just from the acknowledgement received. In the sport of good competition I also wish you all the best of luck but....... I hope I’m the one that takes a stand on the podium this month4 points

I'm sincerely honoured to be in this round, thank you 420SA. Good luck to everyone, as in my eyes we are all winners already, we have each other and this amazing plant. Peace4 points

In future consider starting your seeds in a smaller pot then moving them when they are more established to these bigger pots (assuming your Putins Punch seeds are photoperiod). Also fill up your pots more. Only leave like ~2cm at the top from dirt to rim.4 points

Small edit here bud: 420 FORUM advise - PRICELESS! As a first time grower as well I've really been enjoying the journey of @zolrooker and @afternoon blazer. You guys have basically been asking all the question for me. Really learnt a lot in the last few weeks. All the best and good luck!4 points

Finally confident in my setup to post an update here. After advice from @Prom, I reached out to Growopz. Unfortunately, there was only a 75watt QB available at the time but I thought it was worth a try. Just doing a run of 3 autos then I'll most likely add a second QB to the setup. Setup: 80cmx80cmx160cm grow tent (purchased from takealot) 75watt QB oscillating desk fan 6" 20watt bathroom extractor (bright star lighting) Thermometer and Hygrometer Seeds (biltongandbudz): Sour Diesel (Bulk Seed Bank) Gelato Samba (Bulk Seed Bank) Cocopopo (Bulk Seed Bank) Nutes: Biobiz - Biogrow Biobizz - Biobloom Molasses3 points

Howzit guys I started this adventure trying to find the cheapest and simplest way to grow some good bud. Unfortunatly from my personal experience. There isint really a cheap way. If you dont want to be frustrated and and have issues all the time and have a successfull grow to be proud of. U need to spend a decent amount of cash. Enjoy. . . Germination So i germinated 1 banana monkey seed from biltong and budz. Thursday night(9-07-2020) 13 hours in a shot glass. Then moved to a paper towel. And a plastic bag and left in darkness near my modem for warmth.(10-07-2020) .Until a taproot was visible. I think you all should go light up and give yourself a pat on the back. I have learnt FCUK tons on lighting over the last few days. On my drive back into the wilderness today I decided I'm going diy with growopz seeing that I have already started chatting with him. If my budget stock is not available, well then save and wait and upgrade that way. Give me time to figure out how to start a thread and I'll let you in on my crazy but determined journey to here. Thanks everyone, I'll figure out how to @ a person. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk3 points

And what a tribute the show was, tears in my eyes watching that great man. Hotbox is a fantastic team. The show will go on. And to the 420SA community, thank you for the smile. Just keep signing petitions, sharing, speaking, it helps all of us. And like Jules envisioned for cannabis in SA, fields of green for all.3 points

Top draw bud! another lesson learnt! Do the math when installing your exhaust fan into your garden, especially when making changes. Guessing or over looking this simple step has bigger consequences! I turned my fan speed down to the size of the space required and took into consideration I only have one bend in my hosing and a short exhaust. RH in the tent is already more steady in the few hours, dehumidifier running less as well, so another plus on the electricity. Plan of action. Defoliate leaves showing signs, it is time for there 4 week clean up anyway so I can get in there. Smoke a joint..... Clean garden and equipment. Spray girls down with bicarb until dripping both on top and under all! Leaves and buds. Hit a bong...... ,... Repeat bicarb spray down for this week....? Environment controls I hope I have in order now! Smoke a joint. ....... Thanks again everyone for all the answers and care to reply, much much appreciated dudes. stay warm and irie3 points

Sup 420SA fam As mentioned in the writeup for the breeders group, this is the spot to organise some seeds and clones from local SA breeders. @1000Hills Nursery and myself have been discussing getting some of our cuts out to forum members to grow. As a collective of growers and breeders we have a opportunity to search for our own "Elite Cuts". By having other forum members grow cuttings we hope to find motherplants that are truly 420SA cuts, loved and cherished by the community. This is by no means limited to me and @1000Hills Nursery, it is a ininitiative that i hope will get forum members sharing amongst each other and finding the true SA Elite cuts. We have taken the first steps, hope many more follow, 1000HillsNursery, bro u care to elaborate a little bit?2 points

Wassup 420 fam. Started my first indoor grow about 2 weeks ago. Not much happening at the moment... Strain- Original Orange Bud Auto from Biltong and Buds. Medium- Freedom Farms Classic Pot Size- ± 13 L Grow Space- ± 50x50x 180cm Lighting- 120w QB from @Master_G Light schedule- 18/6 Nutes- EHG Grow, Micro and Bloom Prayer Soaked seed for 12 hours then into jiffy pellet. Germination was slow and first true leaves were a bit on the yellow side. Not sure if its due to cold CPT weather or bad genetics. I'm just happy Stella got her groove back. Watering with only dechlorinated tapwater at pH 6 every 2-5 days Entering week 3 now and she's coming along nicely. Can I start feeding nutrients at this stage or should I wait another week or so?2 points

@Chris Jay truly a labour of love and something worth fighting for. Durban Poison is that one strain from Africa that got the European tongues wagging throughout the 90's. And as you rightfully said I think there might be some stories to tell in terms of the journey the real og landrace strain took. To imagine GSC is supposed to be bred from a DP strain.. I have a friend that has long sought to try and get the closest to the og DP. And from some reading it sounded like Dutch Passion had the closest take to the original so he settled on a batch from them. Sad though that there is no local supply of our own local pride..2 points

Hey. Thanks for the offer of seeds, and we can definitely talk. Just need to get ducks in a row. @John Stonedwell African strains are very interesting, like their cannabinoid profiles. Wait until the story of Durban comes out, it hopefully inspires and I think there is an interesting way to get the original Durban Poison back to SA. I am busy writing the fairytale about DP, where it started, the journey its taken until now , a couple detours, a few crosses and then it makes it way to maybe the top 5 strains in the world. Its a labour of love and amped that the article has been purchased already.2 points

I've got a few beans from the 90's from when I started in 1995. Not sure how fresh they are still as I wasn't thinking back then and just bagged them and put them in a dark place. Stuff from the Transkei. Also before the guys started to breed the potent smells out these girls as it was to much of a tell all for neighbors and po po. Willing to send what I have, not labeled or anything so it lucky bag for what it is...2 points

Cool beans... been wanting to try clones and have about a week left on my indoor grow. Would love to grow out forum members cuts.2 points

Side note: I can't see 100 percent your plants, but from what I can see, you have a few leaves you can remove and the plant still be happy and finish correctly. One thing guys do, and I've done in the past, is remove a few of the lower fan leaves, and some in the middle of the plant where there isn't lots of light penetrating, this way you can drastically drop your humidity and avoid these situations in the future. Comes down to better air flow, not in or out the room, but around the room.2 points

I appreciate it man, really. I try to make my journals as easy to follow as possible. Kinda hoping to get noticed by some grow magazine someday, lol. That would be dope. Hey bud. They seem to be ok. I have stopped taking them on the daily outing to the sun rays just in case it was the breeze or temperature difference. I also have a led tube light that may have been burning them so that has also been raised a bit.2 points
-
Lmao yeah make that 2 seconds. Just went to check and burnt myself. I anticipated the heat from the lights, also a car fan... I figured for the purpose (a seedling chamber) the higher temps would be better. So it's kinda intentional, but the box overall is staying much cooler than I thought it would. *Trichome Porn* Lmao couldn't resist that. Anyway, not much to talk about folks, they're just looking super fire... These fuckers are frrrosty! Minimal maintenance since the last tie down and I'll feed her tomorrow... Its just a waiting game right now. Enjoy the pictures, cheers!2 points

Howzit la familia Quick update. So far so good. Following through on some solid advice from the more experienced growers around and keeping it simple. Not much happening. Still just giving dechlorinated water with Ph of 6.5 once or twice a week. 18 First leaves turning slightly yellow but otherwise she seems quite happy. Older leaves have this weird curling thing going on. No idea what it might be but as far as I can see it's not affecting her negatively so I'm happy What she looks like after 3 weeks. More updates coming soon. Shabba2 points

Thank you for the warm welcome @Newbie_2020 @CreX @Bakstein420 @SkunkPharm Here is my grow tent . Its only 80x80x160 since I stay in a second floor flat and space is limited. I have converted 2 spare storage cupboards into propagation / early veg rooms ( Its easier for me to control the temp in one room early on ) I can keep my cupboard above 20 at all times since its in my room with my PC and a small heater. In my mind this will allow the smaller plants to thrive a bit better. Rest of my flat ( where the tent is ) can go down to 16 on a cold night so its not to bad. I just figured if not why not. Once the 3 seedlings are a bit bigger ill move the other CFL light to the other side so the light is a bit more concentrated . ( I know these lights wont grow the plants big ) All the plants in my cupboard is bag seeds so they will probably move to the outside balcony area if they are females . Will be adding some herbs outside to lower suspicion to a point. I am running 2 putins punch seeds in the tent and they are about a 5 days old ( will send some pics later ). Soil im using coco and perlite as my base ( Added some 2:3:2 all purpose in the groun when mixing just to let it set , should be good for the first 4 weeks or so ? Need to do a bit more reading before the firs 4 weeks regarding nutes . Gonna probably just get the GHP soft water 3 pack . To my noob knowledge it covers all bases. Using rain water at the moment to water the plants as im waiting on my PH pen. Gonna grab a swimming pool PH tester kit this afternoon just to last me till I get the PH pen. Overall looking to grow 2 in the tent and 2 - 3 small plants on the stoep2 points

There is people that grow with salts in soil. But at lower doses than what they recomend. If you do have microbes in your soil and you feed salts the plant will stop producing sugars for them. The plant produces sugars to stimulate certain microbes to increase the size of the microbial colonies. Certain microbes breaks down phosphate ions to chelated phosphorus and others break down ammonia to chelated nitrogen. Only chelated ions can be absorbed by the plant. Once you start feeding already chelated ions (nutient salts) the plant stops regulating these microbial colonies and thus will die off as the do not have food. So decide which way you want to go.2 points
-
There is still plenty of nutrients in that soil. I would not feed it untill it starts flowering. And get some biobuzz bloom. That is all she will need.2 points

My current grow is using 19.1 kw/units per 24h. I'm running 1000w(600w + 400w) lights in my flower tent and a 200w light in my veg tent. The fans are pulling 88w. You need to work out consumption in order to work out cost so the best thing to do is break your grow down to each piece of equipment that is using electricity and work from there: I'm gonna use my grow as an example here: Firstly it really helps to measure what each device is actually pulling and not go by the indicated wattage for the device i.e. a 600w HPS may use a little more than 600w, especially with magnetic ballasts. My 600W HPS and 400W HPS are collectively pulling a total of 1115w and not 1000W. If you have a prepaid meter it should be able to tell you the wattage being used in the house. An easy way to measure each devices true wattage is to have the device off, check the current wattage use in the house in the meter and note the amount, then turn the device on, note usage and work out the difference. Here's how to work out total consumption: The formula is : Device wattage X time(hours) device is on Flowering Lights: 1115w x 12 = 13 380 Veg Light: 200w x 18 = 3600 Fans(2 extractor fans and 2 oscillating Fans): 88w x 24 = 2112 We then add these totals together: 13 380 + 3600 + 2112 = 19 092 So that gives me 19 092 watts which is the total number of watts my grow uses every 24 hours. Or 19.1 kilowatts, or 19.1 units... whichever way you wanna look at it. To work out cost Formula: Total daily usage X Price per unit(kilowatt hour) Daily cost: 19.1 x R2.44 = R46.60 Monthly cost: 46.60 x 30 = R1398-00 Hope this helps2 points

Brightness is equivalent to a 3000W HPS What @Dank just said, if you spray the leaves in the heat of the day or sometimes wind, it can do that definitely.1 point

I personally like to do, the peroxide first, them lemon / bicarb, then clean. Plus the water at like 20deg or a little warmer, luke warm they say, but not hot or that will damage the trichomes.1 point

I am not liking what's going on with the Royal Gorilla. She isn't handling the rise in EC as well as the GDP. I believe she is suffering from an early onset of nitrogen toxicity which has developed into a minor case. I did a reservoir flush on both plants by first adding GHE FloraKleen to the reservoirs for 24hrs and then flushing and reseting them with new nutes and RO water. I have also dropped the EC on the Royal Gorilla. Sitting at an EC of 0,2 just until I feel it is ready again to rise the EC. GDP is sitting at an EC of 0.6 and is loving it. Plants should have enough growth by tomorrow or Sunday for the next topping and defoliation. Should also see a response from the Royal Gorilla in that time but I do not expect the current growth to recover. I will be mostly looking at the colour and speed of the new growth and then adapt from there. Once the old growth is defoliated at the time of topping the response should be a bit more clear.1 point
