Hi guys Unplanned trip up the coast, so update is a little late. Things are moving along really nicely. All plants got Topped 7 July, and reacted super well! See pics below of new growth at the node where i topped. I also took 2 clones the the Ethos Crescendo and got amazing root growth in 10 days flat. (pic below is at 10 days.) Did a full reservoir change on Wednesday. Now i'm running full-strength nutes at EC 1.66 points

Hey guys . So I figured ill move this from the new user thread and make a proper thread for the grow. This is how it all started . Planted 2 putins punch seeds directly from germination into the big pots . They got stunted pretty hard and barely grew for the 2 weeks . Bag seeds havent even broken ground yet at this point. As for the indoor tent setup where the putins were growing , light was not the best after downloading a lux meter ( yes I know not the right spectrum but gives you a rough idea ) . Light intensity was way down and got we worried. @CoolJ To the rescue . I asked if I could buy the cobs he ordered from aliexpress and he opted to give them to me . Baring in mind I splurged quite a bit on the setup this month it was a blessing . Thanx dude :D . On to after these pictures .... Here we are today . I took a chance and replanted the putins seeds into smaller pots .... Way smaller pots .Did some research after @Ill_Evan advice and I figured ill take a chance and see. They seem to be reacting well since over watering is no longer a problem and I feel the plant should develop a bit better in this . I was being as careful as I can not to disturb the roots and to be honest there wasnt even much root growth . Lesson learned . Photos small pots first . I hope these make it otherwise ill take it as a lesson and plant some more . As for the lighting situation . I am lucky to be in IT so I have access to a few extra parts . I present frankenlights. CPU cooler with some good thermal paste and a 12v fan . They run pretty cool for 16h on 8h off. Gonna run them for another week or so until I can build them into a proper frame and redo the wiring neatly. They do pump out a hella lot of light and it seems they are 3500k lights ( correct me if im wrong here , my chinglish is not the best ) Lastly just a big thanx to the community for being so welcoming and for the guidance . You guys are the best :D4 points

Brought to us by the legendary Guy Richie. I just finished this movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Since being introduced to Guy Richie once I'd figured out the meaning of 'cunt' via Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, as well as the follow-up Snatch, I have always been a fan of his work and was caught by surprise that I hadn't picked up on this new addition up until recently. The marijuana theme was also a massive surprise. I hadn't watched a trailer or really knew who was in it, and I think I accidentally may have had the best experience out of anyone having been in this position The movie is full of fantastic one-liners and witty remarks, a zero bullshit attitude but a good chuckle was had a few times during the course of the film. If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, definitely check it out. If you've seen it, what did you think of it? I was going to link a trailer here, but after watching the trailer I've decided it would be an absolute disservice to anyone who hasn't picked up on the film yet. Do the right thing.4 points

What a ride it's been! Managed to find one decent Aurora Kush pheno from the 8 i popped all those many moons ago. Here's some pics of the harvest coming down bit by bit when it's all done I'll post a grow report 1 last pic before plants started getting the chop chop4 points

Every time you get the urge to water, tell yourself one more day. Pick the pot up every day until it feels 90% lighter than wet. It can get bone dry and feather light.3 points

I agree, i only go the extra mile as i want to breed some autos. If a shop wants to import HEPA cloth directly, contact me, and i pass you the direct contact. I would prefer no import hassle too They ship to registered companies in SA too. I wouldnt stress to much about the air intake, if you just run feminized plants. If you have males on the property, you have a bit more hassle to watch out for.2 points
-
I had same issue, my dad in Germany solved it. He gets 10m HEPA cloth on a roll. Bit to much, but i will get 4m2 to start, i wanna put it in my intake window directly. So i check import cost, if reasonable, i check to get some more. Problem... Post Office2 points

Week 7ish. So I've decided to build a bigger cabinet by slapping 2 shelving units together and use 1 of the other cabinets as a veg box. Trying to improve the lighting somehow. I've attached cfl's and a led tube light permanently and the shelving I'll lower as the plants grow. Not the ideal way to use cfl's, I know, but hoping I'll get better light distribution than my previous setup. Oh, by the way, my plants have been on 12/12 for about a week now. I have also started chatting with @growopz to see what he can do for me concerning LED's on a very small budget.2 points

@DamDave sorry to hear about your trouble but if it's isolated to you then there must be an issue with your device specifically. Sorry I couldn't be of further assistance2 points

French cookies #2 was the only cookie to make me proud.... And I let her get too dry, and she gave up... So so close to the end... Such a pity actually. I have some cuttings so I will be giving her another go to see if I can improve... Have not weighed or smoked yet2 points

Yeah, so I've been giving it more thought and gonna give it a try. Setting up the veg cabinet this weekend. Once again, great advice and help on this platform.2 points

My citradellic Hermied, pollinated my other plants a little. some a little more than others. But im not to worried. they still frosty AF. NOW the darn with baaaaad Eskom!!!! Wtf man! sub stations blowing. loadshedding during fckn lockdown. naaah come on this is a conspiracy to fck all indoor growers. im sure. its that illegal tobacco industry thats waging war on us law abiding pot growers!!! this is an atrocity!2 points

Aweh fellow greenfingers, The winter chills are upon us but, grow we will. 1/2. a Clash of Titans..... and local is lekker. Unintended consequence. Proof is in the pudding, some buds drying quitely, sweet skunky bliss. 3-6. Found 2 decidedly different Pineapple express pheno's. One seems more sativa, the other more kush. 7-10. The Fruitpunch queens looking good after their feed and tea. This winter made it awfully difficult for any type of outdoor growing. Pushed some limits and took a few hits, might have found some good stuff for my trouble. But summer is coming.... Keep it green. Cheers2 points

I'm keen to get a feel on what you guys may like to see stocked in our store in the future. Right now, it's very much a sideline project with not much attention paid to it although in the future I'd like it to stock unique genetics that our local breeders can offer. Other than that I don't want to stock it with items you'll find in many other online stores. I want it to be a bit more niche. Let us know what you would like to see in the store1 point

hahahaha.... Yeah I know, I use KISS alot myself, it's become a thing in our household too . Well, I haven't actually started the grow yet. Unfortunately my order from 8 WEEKS ago is still missing some essential items, so I am staring at a nice setup that's 90% finished but I can't move forward... The intake filter is an after thought, really... I just figured it would help keep the grow as simple as possible (KTGASAP) lol So since my intake is already coming from a clean room inside a well insulated building, I guess it's not necessary, then? Yeah, your last point is a good one... I will be running an adjustable dehumidifier complete with HEPA filter already installed in the machine, in the room where the tent is. I suppose that would make the need for an intake filter even more redundant... I always try do things the best I can, but the intake filter is now starting to sound like overkill... Thanks so much, man1 point

@zolrooker Brother, your gold standard cups, are not good for drainage and I see hardly any perlite in it. Better pots, more perlite, 7 days watering schedule, and you'll be hundreds brother. Added, are you leaving them in a tray of water?1 point
-
Sorry brother, Try as Totemic says, I at first did this too. Same soil, in the same pot, not wet and stays dry, and then use it as reference for the actual plant. Then I'd definitely say you need more perlite or add a little coco, even both to your mix for more air, and better drying times perhaps? If you watering 7 days apart, and still got over watered pots, then definitely more air flow and pockets in the soil.1 point

What up 420 Fam. Just a small update to keep the Diary going. So the Banana Monkey i germinated got potted on Sunday Morning(12-07-20). With the seed cracked open. Into the root plug and final pot. Sadly still nothing has broken through the soil. So just gona let it chill out for a while. During the week. I was feeling abit irratated. So i germed another auto. SWEET TOOTH. Tuesday (14-07-20) Seed felt better for some reason. Anyway. Same story shot glass. This time i did 24 hours. Then paper towel and plastic bag for 18 hours. Temps about 28/29 degrees. Awsome 15mm taproot shown this morning and she got potted. Put on a humidity dome. And popped her into the grow box. Lets hope its smooth sailing for now.1 point

Looking good @DamDave About the lights issue. @SkunkPharm made a good suggestion. Those flood lights dont get that hot. I know definitly a few people on here use the ACDC version. Especially for veg. 150w led floodlight. Cool white. R375 with2 year warrenty. I bought it. Run it in a similar size box as yours. Temps are about 20 degrees inside at night. With the heatsink sticking out the box. I did so e cheap ass light test on the light. And i was extremely impressed. If u want complete validation of the light. @CreX knows hands down. how good it is. Also from all the info i have been through. Light is priority 1. Then Genetics. Just wana help bro.1 point

Flippen nice idea this. Clone transport seems iffy but wtf. Indoor growers will have a bit of an advantage wrt to cloning and vegging abilities all year round. But summer is around the corner, then the outdoor growers can play ball too.1 point

Hi Guys, I've learned a few things during my winter grow, especially by overfeeding. I'd love input from more experienced hydroponic growers like @CreX on a post where I try to summarise key scenarios for future reference and anybody else who would like to use it. Taken from here: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Monitoring the interaction of EC, pH and water uptake in hydroponics can prevent most issues and this post explores the interaction with guidelines. Hydroponic growing Growing marijuana hydroponically is a method of growing cannabis plants without soil. The plants get fed by soluble fertilizers that are dissolved in water. Hydroponic gardening can be more productive than soil growing, but it is not nearly as forgiving. Soil works as a buffer for nutrients and holds on to them longer than a hydroponic grow medium does. Hydroponic grow mediums contain no nutrients – all the nutrients are supplied via a nutrient solution. Contrary to popular belief, hydroponic gardens often require more care than soil gardens. Because the plants grow faster, there are more things to check and way more things that can go wrong. The electrical conductivity (EC) and pH of a hydroponic system are vitally important and their interaction is recapped in the next section. EC and pH Hydroponic systems are reliant on the composition and formulation of the nutrient solution to supply all the essential elements required for optimal plant growth and yields. However, nutrient solutions are complex and their composition changes as mineral ions are extracted when they flow through the root system. Ideal pH is 5.8 during veg for cannabis and 6.0 during flowering. Best results can be achieved by allowing pH to swing between 5.8 and 6.2. Deficiencies in hydroponic production are more common than toxicities, as plant uptake of many elements has the potential to strip out nutrients at a rapid rate, particularly from recirculating solutions. The most common deficiency problems in hydroponic crops are potassium in fruiting plants like tomatoes; iron under certain environmental conditions; nitrogen in some readily growing, highly vegetative crops; and calcium in many species, such as lettuce, tomatoes and peppers. Deficiencies might or might not be the result of an actual deficiency in the nutrient solution with hydroponics. The problem of overfeeding and nutrient lockout is the main aim of this post, especially on how to prevent it before your plants start showing strange symptoms like the photo below. Nitrogen deficiency in early flower caused by nutrient lockout. EC, pH and water uptake in hydroponics Starting with reverse osmosis water can prevent most of the issues when growing with hydroponics. The table below is a reference to assist hydroponic growers to keep the perfect growing environment going. Water Level EC pH Comment Static Static Static Plant not feeding/drinking, change EC, check meters. Usually, lowering the EC a little (by 0.2) should get the plant feeding again. Static Static Rising pH buffers probably raising pH. This is usual. Having a static water level is not though, a slight reduction in EC (by 0.2) or a res change should resolve this. Static Static Falling Usual cause of this is when media has been rinsed at a lower pH than you require. The other possibility is that too much CO2 has been pumped into the water. Change your res and look at the volume of air pumped plus look at your air source. Res change is recommended. Static Rising Static Plant is leeching nutrients, raise EC by 0.2. Static Rising Rising Plant is leeching nutrition, raise EC. An unusual state. The rising pH is probably caused by nutrient leeching back. If these are alkaline, it will lead to the rise in pH. Could also be pH buffers. Static Rising Falling As above. Res change, plus increase in EC. Static Falling Static Plant eating but not drinking. Not ideal. Lower EC by 0.2. Static Falling Rising As above but rising pH is a better sign. Lower EC slightly or res change. Static Falling Falling Falling pH along with falling EC but no drop in water level suggests a res change. Depending on other symptoms, lowering EC after res change. Falling Static Static Perfect conditions. EC and pH are at the correct level. Falling Static Rising Normal state most people encounter. Nothing to worry about, carry on doing what you are doing unless other symptoms are showing or pH swings by more than 0.5. If pH swings too much, change res and lower EC. Falling Static Falling Res change plus a change of EC. Lower EC if over 1.4, raise EC if lower than 1.0 Falling Rising Static Plant is drinking more than eating, lower EC by 0.2. Falling Rising Rising Plant is drinking more than eating, lower EC by 0.2. Falling Rising Falling Plant is drinking more than eating. Lower EC with a res change. Falling Falling Static Hungry plant, raise EC by 0.1. Very good situation to be in. Nutrient buffers are working and plant is taking a balance of nutrients. Falling Falling Rising Almost as above, usually considered almost perfect, raise EC by 0.1. Falling Falling Falling Res change. Raise EC by 0.2 on new res. Lastly, a word of wisdom is to always start with half of the recommended dose of nutrients and work up. References 420Magazine PercysGrowRoom.com 420bugbud Maximum Yield1 point
