It's just too cold for that at the moment. But in theory yes, that's the way to go for outdoor3 points

Yea, due to not having a flower light or able to get one right away, my advice was to use the sun as much as possible because the veg light is just that, a veg light. So full sun and supplemental light during the night for a pinch extra. I feel that will provide better results in his situation than just the veg light3 points

Good day. I currently have allot of miggies/bugs in my indoor tent. Will try and see how they got in there. Probably not ideal for them to be in there. How do I get rid of them. Any advice?2 points

Awe @StickyD420 so basically i dont like to use toxix stuff, messes up soil biology. States on the label that its toxic and harmful to bees, fish and wildlife. Just a heads up the mention for DE was in regards to gnats, not really mites. However if use the DE correctly during veg (extra silica) you could end up with plants strong enough to withstand mites.2 points
-
Welcome to the forum @PeeWee They most likely come from your soil. U can use diatomaceous earth as a topdressing during veg, as well as stickystrips. I say veg cause it will provide silicate which can cause a dark ash when used too much in flower. Some growers cover the tops of their pots with silicate sand or perlite, this sjould also keep them away. Good luck. Edit, forgot to say, karbadust is toxic, i wouldnt use it in my garden.2 points

Sounds lekker man, Ethos has some nice gear. Feel free to start a "Line up" thread in the "Whats in your stable" section of the group, there you can showcase your motherplants if u wanted too. As the thread grows it will be easy to go see the LineUp threads of growers for those sharing cuts.2 points

What's up fellow farmers. Iv also got my first bun in the oven as most of u know. . I see the leaves are curling down. This could be if the light is to close. Please correct me if I'm wrong guys. Make sure the hole in the cup are not blocked to store water. I normally wait till the pot is noticeably lighter. Happy growing guys.2 points

The youngsters don't need full sun, leave the moisture dome on to shade them a bit. Just have them under the light as much as possible. Once flower.. your job to place them max sun all the time2 points
-
You might leave her outside when grown to a certain size.. but first 2 weeks he has to get them in.. one cold shock and the project comes to a sudden stop I see no advantage to put blue light on during flower, worst is you get her to stretch. Put her on your roof, so she gets max sun possible. And best is to get her in.. warm roots help growing, cold slows down.2 points

Im loving this process of controlled growing like this in the hopes to find a real beauty and be able to use her in future grows!2 points

If plants could read, those schedules would make more sense . Run the sheet so you know what week you are in for feeding. Rest, lift them morning and evening and if they are super light, feed them with the dosage set for this week. Wet the pot top to bottom, then back to the daily lifting game.2 points

High guys Last year's Indoor growoff, in my opinion, went relatively well. It was ultimately plagued by a number of issues that prevented it from being a success though. With what we have learn't from last year's indoor growoff I'd like to get your guys input on how we can iron out the issues and get it to run more smoothly. I would really like to keep the growoffs going annually but the amount of effort that was put in wasn't matched by participation and co-operation. It takes a lot to organise a comp of this kind, if the amount of effort that is put in isn't matched by participation then it just isn't worth the effort. Here are my thoughts on what didn't go well last year: People mainly struggled to stay in line with the rules and procedure. With big sponsors on board we had to lay out a procedure and rules, some disagreed with it but I felt it was necessary nor difficult to follow. To those that participated, were the rules too difficult to follow? How can they be improved? There were 2 sponsors who did not honour their prizes. Green Leaf Organics went, and still is, AWOL. Then Sustainable Village SA did not honour their prize. The distribution of seeds actually didn't go too badly, I feel we executed it pretty well. On the other hand many of those who received the seeds didn't actually participate. It may be best if we allow a diversity of genetics but this immediately taints the legitimacy of the competition to some extent. I'm of the opinion that if we don't have the same cultivar, the growoff isn't worth it. I know that even with the same cultivar the variety of phenos can be diverse, especially with a cultivar that is not fully stabilized but it just keeps things fair. There are more points and I will add them in due course. The point is to get this discussion going in the mean time. Would love to hear input from you guys1 point

Hey guys . So I figured ill move this from the new user thread and make a proper thread for the grow. This is how it all started . Planted 2 putins punch seeds directly from germination into the big pots . They got stunted pretty hard and barely grew for the 2 weeks . Bag seeds havent even broken ground yet at this point. As for the indoor tent setup where the putins were growing , light was not the best after downloading a lux meter ( yes I know not the right spectrum but gives you a rough idea ) . Light intensity was way down and got we worried. @CoolJ To the rescue . I asked if I could buy the cobs he ordered from aliexpress and he opted to give them to me . Baring in mind I splurged quite a bit on the setup this month it was a blessing . Thanx dude :D . On to after these pictures .... Here we are today . I took a chance and replanted the putins seeds into smaller pots .... Way smaller pots .Did some research after @Ill_Evan advice and I figured ill take a chance and see. They seem to be reacting well since over watering is no longer a problem and I feel the plant should develop a bit better in this . I was being as careful as I can not to disturb the roots and to be honest there wasnt even much root growth . Lesson learned . Photos small pots first . I hope these make it otherwise ill take it as a lesson and plant some more . As for the lighting situation . I am lucky to be in IT so I have access to a few extra parts . I present frankenlights. CPU cooler with some good thermal paste and a 12v fan . They run pretty cool for 16h on 8h off. Gonna run them for another week or so until I can build them into a proper frame and redo the wiring neatly. They do pump out a hella lot of light and it seems they are 3500k lights ( correct me if im wrong here , my chinglish is not the best ) Lastly just a big thanx to the community for being so welcoming and for the guidance . You guys are the best :D1 point

Thanks @Bakstein420 I see that stuff also does Army Worms and Caterpillars, and many other things, very good recommendation Added, I had an infestation of Army Worms last outside grow, and they ate the buds from inside out, bastards1 point

I have used karbadust sprinkled on the surface of the soil, clears them up pretty quick.1 point

I have used the cinnamon on my seedlings and have still got gnats unfortunately, but the room smells great for the first day or 2, yummy pancakes Pyrol or Neem works, from my experience. Added, welcome to the forum1 point

They look much happier now, The spots on the leaves are from lockout of the watering, and are Calcium deficiency from not being able to feed through the roots. You'll be okay, just keep it slow on watering and they going to do perfectly.1 point

Sweet brother, I'm in the stands cheering you on Possibly ease them into the full sun over a week? Or a little shade cloth over for a week, they dont mind direct sun as long as they are started outside or giving time to adjust.1 point
-
@CreX thanks brother. As always solid advide @StickyD420 been waiting too long for this 1st grow. forgetting is not an option. Ok so we got a game plan. Im gona carry it out best i can. However. The sun gets pretty dam hot for the seedling (directly that is) any suggestions?1 point
-
Awe, for my understanding Plant outside in the day, bringing in at night, to put under the spot light, running longer or all night. Then out into the sun the next day? If he had the plant outside, and mounted the spot light above the plant, he could switch or automatically switch the spot light on at sunset and off at sunrise? No need to move anything or possibly forget a step?1 point

Yo bro. So maybe a 18-20 hour light schedule then. To get it closer to the flower schedule.1 point

Thanks for the pictures, Would say they can be put into fabric pots, and they are probably still wet / muddy at the bottom, and will see if you transplanting them tomorrow. Some roots are drowning, at the bottom, and that is surely causing the twisted leaves and the lock out of N as the new growth was yellow and could not absorb the nutrients. Guys will even lift a fabric pot off the floor for proper air flow under, and you need that air and dry out to a degree, they are programmed to seek out water, and if you keep them too wet they dont need to do any work or grow bigger root systems.1 point

Great Idea! I have Ethos Forbidden skittles and Ethos Wedding Cake clones going atm.The wedding cake is a bit sweet for me,but she kicks nicely.I prefer something with a little bit of sour/spice or diesel to cut that sweetness. The f-skittles is around 4 weeks away from harvest, but the clones already have roots. She also smells very sweet Clone transporters (6 pack around R50-60) - https://www.google.com/search?q=clone+transporters1 point

Every time you get the urge to water, tell yourself one more day. Pick the pot up every day until it feels 90% lighter than wet. It can get bone dry and feather light.1 point

Dope stuff looking forward to getting involved when I can. Need to pump out my current grow and one more to make the 5 grows, I rate I'll be ready then. Well, if I may input, I think it's way cooler to get sponsored gear and cool stuff over a cash prize. Although an entry fee does weed out (excuse the pun) those who are just taking the piss and aren't going to stick to rules a guidelines which I think is the entire point and joy of the competition. Doesn't have to be crazy. R50 is enough to deter most people.1 point
-
Nominal Entry fee is a good idea, should 1. subsidise seed delivery, 2. Contribute to prize 3. Commit to completing grow1 point
-
Well straight up... The rules weren't hard to follow. You gave warnings and still persons did not comply and that did suck... The competition needs to maybe have noob catagory and a "best newcomer" award, but needs to be more suited for experienced growers looking to challenge themselves. There are quite a few breeders on the site that I am sure will love to exhibit their genetics as the staple genetic for a grow off so maybe offer this to some of the local breeders... Give us an amount of seeds you need per grow off, and I'm sure guys will come to the party. Potentially a small buy in for serious contestants to compete for the main prizes , and consolation prizes for other entries that don't buy in.1 point
