Small update, not too much to show. Still focusing on building the manifolds of the DWC plants. The two on the left are struggling to catch up to the bigger ones which are begging for the 400W bulbs but I don't want to increase power until they are somewhat more similar in size. At some point I'll have to just make the flip. Soil ladies doing real nice. I did take one Skywalker OG and started flowering her outside and take her inside for the evenings so she doesn't get too cold. I felt like having 5 plants under a single 250W QB was one plant too many.. plus I didn't feel like repotting her also just curious to see what happens.6 points

I just sprinkled ground cinnamon on my soil for the gnats a week ago, still see a few but need to do it this week again, if I understand correctly the cinnamon stops/kills the fungas that the gnats eat. Will give feedback in a week again Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk4 points

Hi Y’all! Sorry I’ve been out of it for a while, life’s just been uggg here’s an update on the gals, 2 of the autos have started budding!3 points
-
I have noticed that they tend to show up when the top soil has been wet for too long.3 points
-
No worries, DE with the addition of stickystips (even upside down duckttape) in the grow area should keep them in check.3 points
-
Like... F#@ker 1 F#@ker 2 And so forth lol I dont mind a few, but keep them in check with Neem.3 points

I raise my plants out the tray when watering, then discard of runoff before putting my pots back in the tray.2 points
-
Hey brother, I believe the best is to not have the runoff touch the pot again, almost a gap between them if possible so that the old salts and such, dont go back into the mix and cause trouble. As soon as you see it stop flowing, best to remove it.2 points

Then there were 5. Transplanted to 5l. Three of them have gone outside. They not liking the indoor environment, and have been battling since germination. Looks to be solid Indica pulling through.2 points

High So fnnn amped that bubble bags are being produced locally by a very cool gent indeed. Sad to say I have not pulled my act together and made hash yet, party party party. Already had agony from the "original" bubble bag man about this bags, cause the po*s has the patent on bubble bags. Pot politrix. But even he complimented the bags design and development. Anyway. Fullmelt filtration bags are unreal, best bags I have ever seen. I have used about 3 different types of bubble bags in my life. So amped to use these, dont know what is stopping me. But here is the intro I made for the company. No this is not sponsored content was lucky enough to get sample bags because reliased I knew this guy since he was at varsity, used to help him out with his studies . So glad he decided to do this and make something much needed in SA. These bags are really the real deal in concentrates and extraction. The world is coming back to bubble hash and its only getting better. Got some unreal cherry bomb bubble hash from a mate up the north coast recently, you could smell it from a mete away. The owner is a young dude, new into cannabis but has been investigating and blowing himself up for years. I will post the final product once I have pulled my head out my arse. PS any of you guys remember my Powerpoint presentation from about 15 years ago using stockings. Would love to find it. The joint in the PPS took 20 minutes to smoke. power malawi hash was made.2 points

I've picked up a bad habit from my succulent growing. I tend to agitate the top of the soil (2-3mm) for moisture reasons. Anyway, I do this with my plants a day after watering firstly for looks. I like the look of freshly turned soil. Secondly, the process exposes eggs and larvae to the lights and elements and kills them. I've been doing this for years with succulents, maybe that's why I don't seem to have gnat problems. Or is my grow environment incorrect that I don't attract them. Just a thought to throw out there. Ok so sadly, these are not so much stable as they were Ethos clones from cannaclone. To be 100% honest, I was only impressed with Ethos Crescendo but I didnt manage to save a cutting from her Currently flowering Forbidden skittles (inside)and Sweetz insanity (outside) - will take some cuttings to save if they should impress. I want to pheno hunt the correct way, much like what @1000Hills Nursery is doing on his thread, but baby steps.Seems my ez cloner is working now that i added a water heater!2 points

yeah, I bought the seeds from a hydro store that stocked them, I normally would not buy seeds this way I added the packaging pics above now. I hope I can save other people some $$$$$2 points

I have found Cinnamon doesn't work, probably better at dampening off issues than gnats. 2 weeks in, still got the odd one flying around. Neem in a spray bottle, and spraying the surface of the soil every other day, if you want to preserve the Microbes, or a drenching if you dont and really want the gnats gone. Works 100%2 points
-
Give them names...the gnats that is. Karba dust, sticky strips, neem soil drench if you must. I dont personally worry about them as I grow in organics and they are always around.2 points
-
Sorry bro I cant comment on this, I have only ever put cinnamon on my pancakes.2 points
-
Yes it does take sometime, but I just hang the bag up and sway it around every now and again. It does take time. Its important to clean your bags to, those holes can get clogged up quickly.2 points

Oh yes, myself staying away from toxic things for my soil, and keep to the most natural environment as possible, glad you practice this too. I did only now read further than just look at the label, which is deceiving at best. Haha. They even make reference to, uneducated people or animals...what the hell? And again, in the soil DE is amazing for the silica benefit, is amazing stuff, as adding silica in bottle liquid form doesn't or can't get absorbed by the plant. The only thing is its mentioned often as a good pest control, but have yet to see that myself or found evidence thereof. Thank you for the invite too2 points

Going to try and do a better Grow Diary this time and thanks for you guys help with previous one 2 X 150 liter totes, lined with 2cm LECA on the bottom and side, old trampoline side netting to separate the soil from the LECA to maybe help with the some root pruning [emoji2369]. Soil - Freedom Farms Custom Craft Soil from previous grow, amendments added - FF Probiotics, ground Barley, FF Fish Hydrolysate, Kelp Powder, soil was tilled a little and a 10cm layer of new soil was added on top. Waited a week so soil can settle and do their thing. Plants- 6 OKC clones in one tote, then I wanted 2 weeks and put 1 GSC and 1 Saffhire OG in the other tote. Gave them a Moong Bean Tea and some Living Soil Medium Organo Mineral Fertilizer, when needed ph 5,7 water Lights - QB 740w from@growopz HOPE YOU ENJOY THE GROW WITH ME [emoji322] Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk1 point

Greetings 420 fam So as promised, here it is. For anyone that's growing and hand-watering their plants, this is for you guys. This is a simple project that I've completed in minimal time while sitting at home trying to make life easier, lol. For those who want one, but don't have the resources or time to make their own, I am willing to make the kits by order (excluding the container) and make them available for purchase in the classifieds section - which is why I've decided to exclude the pricing list. They will be cheap though, no worries. I hope you guys understand, just trying to make some extra moola during this lockdown. Anyway, enough of that. Let's get into it[emoji41] What you will need: - 5mm PVC tubing (I got 3m to be safe but it can be done with a shorter length of tubing) - An adequately durable and sharp scissor - 5 x 5mm screw/barb adapters - 1 x 5mm micro tee - 1 x 5mm micro choke - 2 x 5mm regular adapters - 1 x 10L plastic container w/tap - Hot glue gun (we gonna use a really small amount of glue) - at least 2 x small cable tie straps Now that we've got that out of the way, here's the build. Creating The Main Ring - At the base of your tree, use an end of the PVC tubing and hold it in a loop around the main stem, creating a circle of the diameter you would like. Use the scissor to cut the desired length of tubing. - Insert the micro tee into an end of the tubing and close the loop Making it into a Drip Ring - Cut out/poke 5 holes spaced out well on 1 side of the tubing that are slightly smaller than the diameter of the screw/barb. - Shorten the screw side of the screw/barb adapter so that it doesn't damage the opposite inner wall of the tubing once it's screwed in securely. - Use the screw side of the adapter and try to push it into the gap you've created while you rotate the adapter to catch thread. Screw the adapter in until the plastic base is flush with the tubing. Do this for all the holes you created. The plumbing - Cut a length of tubing a bit longer than the distance from the center of where your pot will be to the corner of your tent. - Connect one end of the tubing to the choke valve and the other end to the micro tee on the drip ring you've just created. - Cut a length of tubing long enough to reach where you're going to place your container/res. - Attach one end f this tube to the free end of the choke valve. The installation - Use one of the cable tie's to secure the tubing to the grow tent pipe slightly higher than the level of the drip ring on the soil. - Strap another cable tie just above that, securing the choke valve and holding the tubing much more securely. - Open one end of the drip ring and place it around the base of your plant than reconnect the tubing. You can face the drippers upwards or into the soil, I went with upwards so i can notice any flow issues. We're almost there! Just a few things left. The Res I know this isn't a traditional res in growing terms, but its function is definitive. - Cut one side of the regular adapters off at the base as shown below. - Place the modified adapter at the outlet of the tap as shown and hot glue it into place effectively, not leaving any gaps. This is so that your precious nutes don't drip all over the floor once you open the tap. *Be careful not to cover the barb of the adapter that's sticking out with glue or else you will have trouble with the next step* - Cut off a short length from the free end of the PVC tubing and attach a regular adapter to one end, then attach this piece to the adapter sticking out of the tap. - Mix your nutes, fill the res (please make sure the tap is closed, lol) and place it somewhere higher than the choke valve. - Attach the free end of the PVC tubing to the adapter pipe on the res (this is the pipe and point at which you will connect and disconnect when using and storing the system to prevent breaking the tap adapter). *The higher you have the res, the more force the water will flow with* Adjust your flow - Open the choke valve the so that it barely lets anything through, then open the tap on your res (open the res tap slowly to prevent anything blowing out due to the sudden change in pressure) *Check For Leaks At This Step* - Adjust the choke until the nutrient mix has a slow, steady flow out of all the nozzles. This is subjective though so set it however suits you the best. Just like that... Boom, your very own semi-automatic watering system. The only issue with this prototype design is that the res doesn't completely empty due to its shape (a major part of the reason I'm leaving it out of the kit), but there are ways to solve this. I plan to make a commercial version available once I find a decent shaped res with a siphon pipe to ease flow and empty the res. I'm also in the process of designing another (pressurized) system so the res can be kept on the floor along with some other improvements. Send me a private message for any questions or orders.1 point

So took me some time to type out my first attempt. So basically my first attempt to germinate a seed was not successful placing the seed into water and then in a Jiffy Pod. The second seed also failed by using the seed in the water method and placing the seed in serviette and bag placed in my germination environment which include a heat pad. I germinated 2x seeds at the same time just to be safe so technically seed 3, germinated using the soaking and serviette method. So the steps below describe the day to day for Seed 3. Seed 3: White Widow CBD (Fem Autoflower) Day 1. 21st June – Placed the seed in Ph`d water around 12h00 noon. Going to leave the seed in water for approximately +-36hrs Day 2. 22nd June – Seed still in the cup of water. Day 3. 23rd June – 36 Hours later, Placed the seed in the damp serviette and placed it in my humidity environment which include a small heat pad , humidity is around 50 to 60 percent. Day 4. 25th June – Seed germinated , small root appeared. Left the baggie for around 24hrs in the humidity environment. (Pic 1) (Pic 2) Day 5. 26th June – Root is around 2cm long, (Pic1) transferred the seed to a Jiffy Pot. (Pic 2) Placed it into humidity environment. Day 6. 27th June – Huge surprise this morning, The seedling was standing 2cm tall. 2x Yellow Leaves (Pic3) (Pic 3) (Pic 4) Day 7. 28th June – Yellow leaves turned green, and seedling is doing well. Removed the Seedling from the Jiffy pod, and planted into a small cup. Cup was filled with Formula 1 grow medium that have been flushed out and watered PH level 6.1. The Seedlings is placed under my new LED lights system.(Pic 4) 150w Lumiled 2d 3030 Leds currently around 60cm away from seedling. Keeping humidity between 30 and 40 percent to encourage the seedling to pull water from the soil and stimulate root growth. Tent temperature around 20-26 degrees. Before After Day8. 29th June – Day 12 3rd July – Steady Growth, watered three days after replanting. Day 16 7th July – Transplanted to a bigger container on the 5th, Steady Growth, Plant really loving the bigger space.1 point

Sweet potatoes, The manufacturer's recommendations for the nutrients is a little high, and they want you to use more so you'll buy more quicker. I use way less than half their suggested. 2 ways to water with your setup, and that's like you are doing, but pull back slightly before runoff, and slowly over a period, doing a soil saturation type watering. Or you can, as I'm doing currently and also getting the hang of properly still, and that is you water only 100ml per 1L size of pot / soil, so 20L pot will 2L water, and every day or other day, and you'll need to know your plants well.1 point

@Ill_EvanLove the idea with the cooler boxes man. I guess the ladie's roots will love it too! ...and the outdoor plant is praying to the sun. For me that's always a sign she is fine as can be. Looking forward to seeing your next update ☺1 point

Thanks bro, but I don't feed this water back to the plants. If the soil hasn't absorbed it a day after I've watered, I pour it down the drain.1 point

Hey, You real name appears on those pdfs. Next time please use reputable seedsbanks with original breeder packaging to avoid these issues. Also - growing conditions play a big role in final THC CBD values. I use leafly and growdiaries.com to checkout a strains performance before i buy.1 point

I've had a gnat issue with my previous grow attempt (bag seeds). I think that I left my living soil out for too long and these things got in there and laid their eggs. I used some organic fungicide but it didn't seem to help much. I eventually just sprayed the fungicide every other week and kept a few sticky strips up to catch the f@#ckers. it took me a few weeks to get rid of them. I still had the odd 2 or 3 floating around but I wasn't too phased about them. So far, I am about 7 weeks into my new grow and I was careful not to leave the soil out for more that a day and after I used it, I was sure to seal the bag properly. Then, I make sure that the day after a feed or water, I empty whatever water in the drip trays haven't been absorbed back into the soil. So far so good.1 point

Probably abit irratating having these bugs around. Bugs are annoying in general. Thats just my personal opinion. In terms of damage to the plants. I have no idea. Havnt gotten that far yet Just tryna figure out solutions before i run into issues. Preparation is golden.1 point

Awe @StickyD420 so basically i dont like to use toxix stuff, messes up soil biology. States on the label that its toxic and harmful to bees, fish and wildlife. Just a heads up the mention for DE was in regards to gnats, not really mites. However if use the DE correctly during veg (extra silica) you could end up with plants strong enough to withstand mites.1 point

Week 8. The plants are in the new cabinet and I'm feeling whoop whoop. The cabinet size is 1000x600x1600mm with the option of adding another unit to make it 900mm deep. How many plants would be optimal in this area. I have to many at the moment. The shelves are adjustable so I just drop them as the plant grows. Just by changing the light distribution the plants are improving but still not bushy. I'm popping them on the trolley and moving outside round tea time once it's nice and toasty. They still not bushing out, meant to be Jack Berry given to me by a friend, so I'll read up on the strain. These are the seeds that I got off the 2 outdoor grows (chucked in pot, and left in variouses places round the nursery) until they were ready. They got watered when it was nursery watering time. That's my experience growing. I'm busy chatting with @growopz about a QB75 without a power supply as I have one and budget budget budget. Almost caught up to the present so stay tuned. Spliff time.1 point

Week 7ish. So I've decided to build a bigger cabinet by slapping 2 shelving units together and use 1 of the other cabinets as a veg box. Trying to improve the lighting somehow. I've attached cfl's and a led tube light permanently and the shelving I'll lower as the plants grow. Not the ideal way to use cfl's, I know, but hoping I'll get better light distribution than my previous setup. Oh, by the way, my plants have been on 12/12 for about a week now. I have also started chatting with @growopz to see what he can do for me concerning LED's on a very small budget.1 point

Yip, I would say DP is one of the top 5 strains in the world! There are defiantly local guys breeding DP genetics now that it has become popular, and in demand. I think it is more marketing than anything. Below is a Lesotho landrace strain ( close to the original DP ) that "we" been growing for a couple of seasons. Lovely producer and closest to sativa I have seen. https://twitter.com/softsecrets_usa/status/12572768179474022401 point

@Saurus Hey bud, so one of my plants was dropping and others had nutrient burn. So flushing them helped and then I also realized I was giving them a bit too much water so that was the other issue. I was trying to LST too early because I was quite excited but I’ve gotten a knack for it now and feel confident about this grow!1 point

As far as plant variation. I supplied F4 genetics and regulars at that. That alone made it difficult to judge even for myself that knows the line very well. The next growoff I sponsor, I will be providing feminized S1 seeds. That will level the playing field and give more consistancy to the pheno issue.1 point
