  2. Hey guys, new member here Does anyone here dabble in building LED lights? It is such an addictive hobby and so rewarding watching your babies grow with something built by your own hands. Here are some pics of some of my latest builds using Samsung Lm301b diodes as well as Bridgelux USA LEDs. I have since retired my HPS lights. Let me know what you think!

  4. Just for the record. I have been moving my baby girl outside (aswell as a plant from @CreX) At 7:30 am everyday. It is a little chilly. But once they in direct sun. They good. Then at 4:30 pm everyday. I put the plant back into the growbox under the veg light. So basically 24 hours on. With 9 hours direct sunlight This will only be for veg. So far its working good. Also did a little fiddling around and chatting to Crex. With regards to what the Led floodlight distance should be. Decided to go in at 350mm from the light. 5 days so far. No light burns or heat issues. She looks happy and healthy. (150w - CW LED)

  5. So the soil test is almost over. They will be harvested over the next week. I think my minds made up over how to proceed with the autos. 100 days. Seedbanks tell you they are ready in 60days from seed. They are ready when they tell you they are ready.

  9. I agree here@Newbie_2020 , I veg in ~9L plastic pots and flower in 20L fabric ones - growing Photoperiods. With autos I'd suggest (as stated in the previous comment) 7L or just over for a medium sized tree, 15 or 20L for a big tree. Root mass limits size to some extent but it's also important that you aren't wasting medium and such also, so check up on the strain and how big the tree can get, then decide if you want to let it grow that big or limit its size by using a smaller pot. 16. Hey Family, I recently saw a discussion on heat mats and the use of them and how to use it without damaging the baby girls. As I've only received today my complete order as stock wasn't available, would like to share a very handy, and I believe necessary tool, to remove any guesswork or possible damage from too much heat or not enough. That is a heat mat thermostat, and provides the best way to control and maintain a certain temperature, without lifting or trying anything fancy. Basically, set it and forget it. Adding below for reference only Clone station set was on special at Futurama just before lockdown R999 and came with everything you ever need to clone or seed.

  29. All my plants I've moved outside, have burned on the edges as yours have, only on the old growth, like the outside environment is more harsh and the uv could play a huge part in this. The plant either needs to adopt first or grow leaves that can cater for the sun and UV, is my guess.

  31. Nice, looks good. I have also dabbled with some LED strips, also Bridgelux and some Samsung strips. Although ultimately I still prefer my Quantum Boards - played around a bit with different forms of cooling for them too.

  35. Haha, we all learn bro... And no problem... When I first started off, I once thought you could treat autos the same as Photoperiods as well... Needless to say I've learnt a lot since then.
    1 point
  36. You can, but generally growers don't transplant autos because they're sensitive... The effect of any damage to the roots will be much more apparent and affect the plant much more as compared to a photoperiod strain. So since you're starting off, I suggest starting off tree in your final pot - the growth will be a tad slower but you won't run the risk of losing your plant by damaging the roots during transplant. If you feel confident enough, you can start off in a small container and transplant. There are ALOT of growers that do this, but make sure you take more care when doing so. It's also note worthy that you will have to plan how you LST the tree quite well if you plan to switch containers... So IMO it's easier to just stick to your final pot.

  37. Sure bro.. I've always wanted to grow purple or pink cannabis flowers so I got a 5 pack of the Feminized Purple Queen. Seems like it's on its way to Durban already so I'm expecting it by week end. Took this from B&B site: "Purple Queen is pure indica royalty. By combining the most elusive and highly-prized purple phenotypes of Kush mountain strains, the master breeders at Royal Queen Seeds have developed a unique Kush hybrid. Vibrant purple colours, pungent pine-fuel aromas, and a deeply penetrating, physically stoned effect are to be expected from Purple Queen. Purple Queen’s powerful physical effects will take you deep. Deep into the couch and probably the fridge, too. Smooth, full-bodied Kush flavour with a slight lemon twist will delight your palate as you gently float off to dreamland. Purple Queen reigns supreme in the cannabis garden. Indoors, or outdoors in temperate to warm climates, this strain can and probably will stun you with her gooey purple nugs. In just 8 weeks of 12/12, or by mid-September outdoors, she will be ready for harvest. Purple Queen is a compact, branchy Kush hybrid that will mature to purple dream weed without a fuss. She’ll fill out lateral grow space and will rarely exceed 1m in height. Over thousands of years, the ancient Kush genetics from which she is derived have developed incredible resistance as well as spectacular purple hues. Purple Queen can tolerate high doses of fertilisers and will thrive in any growing system from organics to hydroponics."

  39. Been abit busy for updates Things going really well. Doing some defoliating almost on a daily basis. EC-1,6 pH-6,4 These were the 2 cuttings I took a while back and rooted in Rockwool. Both taken from the same mother plant. Incredible to see the growth difference. DWC crushing it’s competition here.

  40. Hi there! So the best, seeing that you have a greenhouse would be to plant late August, to mid September... But depending on how tall the GH is, they might get too big for the space. You will need to be on top of your game though... Big trees are no small feat to get to harvest and smoke!! Like @Bospatrollie2 said, nows the time to prep your soil and get ready for the coming season! Or grow indoor lol... Which is a costly exercise TBH. What are you planning on using for nutrients?

  41. At the moment we still have lockdown.. and any normal parcel not running priority or Express.. has HUGE delays... just to point that out. Communication is a issue down here hehehe I never used SACF.. never even heard of them So can't comment on their reliability. If you are in a rush to get seeds, Marijuanaseeds.co.za are very fast.. is it on stock, CT has it delivered the next day. Rest, there are quite a few. I think making a page to shame dealers not doing their job or scammers, might be a nice addon to the site.

  42. Hoop house. Is probably the easiest to build. There are lots of plans and videos on the net. Green house plastic is cheap and eazily obtained. If you want a more permanent structure the clear polycarbonate roof sheets with plastic or net sides. You must also think how would this structude be cooled in summer. Mabe construct it so that the sides can be raised in summer for better ventilation.

  43. The best way I can explain the hermie phenomonon in cannabis. All cannabis plants can "hermie" as they fall into the category of dioecious plants. This simply means that male and female flowers are usually on two different plants. What's interesting to note with almost all plants in this category is their ability to also produce the opposing flowers to ensure the survival of the species. At the very core of it, that is what all living organisms are hardwired for. So this really is less of a trait and more genetic hardwiring, a common foundation for the species. The trigger is stress and this is where the traits come in. The trait is finding the genetic expression that can tollerate the highest amount of stress and not hermie. Some genetic expressions have a low stress threshhold and hermie just by looking at them wrong, while others can withstand massive fussing. Also it is interesting that "hermie" is actually a wrong term but so widely used that it is accepted. All your "perfect" flowers are true hermie flowers and defined as having both male and female reproductive parts on a single flowers structure. Cannabis keeps its flower structures distinctly seperate. So back to the point... stresses can be so subtle that you as a person may never know what the stress was. Regardless, once you have identified a plant "hermies" then you can assume its a stress so yes that genetic expression may not like your indoor environment and need outdoors to feel they arent being threatened. So the key is finding those plants that can tollerate the most everyday stresses without the survival response kicking in. All hermies should be discarded to try and eliminate the low stress tollerance trait as it carries over and offspring and genetically even less stress tollerant thus going hermie even easier.
