This is from a very low experience IPM outdoor grower. I was given a product called Orobos with suggestions that it may help. First application seemed to do the trick in flower stage, as we were getting real wet conditions in the nursery with weather. Subsequently I studied the package info, noting that the ingredients were simple. Borax + Orange Oil + Surfactant So as I have loads of Borax here for plant food, I made up a solution of 1tsp Borax in 1 L spring water (heated slightly to dissolve the crystals of Borax) with 10 drops of orange oil and 2 tsp of organic dishwash soap liquid. This worked for our veg section and is not expensive to make. Battled with flowering plants late in season though. Will be doing it again this next cycle. Everybody I know suffered PM this last summer season. Maybe we can have a summer school to up the data on IPM this year?6 points

Hi fellow grow enthusiasts, I mixed my super soil 3 weeks ago (first attempt) and all genetics I want for the coming outdoor season are on their way. Now I can't sit around till the growing season starts, so I did some research on compost teas, etc and found something that was new and quite interesting to me... Has anyone used and made some seed sprout tea? I am planning on trying it this year. Here's a link for more information on Seed Sprout Tea: https://www.alchimiaweb.com/blogen/seed-sprout-tea-sst-cannabis-plants-ok/ I also would like to know how you guys test your soil mix? I plan on planting a "test plant" and see whether it likes the soil or not (hopefully it does ). I germinated a bag seed for that purpose, which I will plant into a container with my soil mix in a couple of weeks. Is there any other way to check if all requirements are met? Thanks in advance for any guidance5 points

Flip Day The outside plant isn't doing too badly either, should probably put her in a bigger pot though. She's already about a week or so into flowering.5 points

I would say it is a overdose of magnesium. You just need a bucket. A small air pump or water circulating pump. Wormcastings. Some kelp meal.malted barley. Make a tea bag put all the dry ingredients in the tea bag and bubble.for 24~36 hours. If you dont have these ingredients add atleast the wormcastings.4 points

You will only really know if there is something missing if your plant shows signs of deficiencies. Or you could have a soil sample tested. But that will be expensive. As long as you have NPK elements in you mix and all the macro and micro elements. Back to SST. I use alfalfa sprouts and mung bean sprouts. To do my teas. Also malted barley teas. Good Luck. PS send me a list of your amendments the I can see if you missed something in the soil mix4 points

Hi guys. An update on my plants. First 4 standing on 5 weeks now. My one autoflowering is starting to flower. But is still very small. the other 3 swazi golds are also still small. I also planted another autoflower seed(3weeks currently) and looks awesome compaired to the first 4 seeds. I also did a test with untested seeds i bought with jiffy pellets. And planted them over in smaller plastic bags yesterday(2weeks now) Do you guys have any other tips for me? My watering is a lot less than what i started off.( think i overwatered them) i also took away my humidifier( warm steam) and it actually worked. Think the steam burned the leaves. Just seems like my grow doesnt want to be a proper grow4 points

@Ill_Evan I actually had that led blinking on one of my fans which I’ve covered up what I’ve done is raised the lights more and moved the fan so let’s see maybe it was that and not the nutes3 points
-
The last time I read something like this, the issue was that the LED was barbequing the plants without the grower knowing. They thought it was bad nutes, to bad soil, to all sorts of crazy shit until he finally swapped out the LED and all of a sudden shit was fine again. Not saying that's exactly the case with you, just a lesson in that sometimes it's just the most unexpected thing causing the problem. Another example could be like leaving the power indicators on heaters untaped so they cause an internal light leak inside the tent without the grower knowing. Shit like that.3 points
-
You may be experiencing a combination of wind and light burn that is stressing the plants to a point of stunting. Generally I don't think you can have too many fans, just as long as they are not blasting your plants directly. I usually aim mine to shoot right over the canopy and below the stems. Fans are meant to mix the air in your space so that you don't get variations in your temperature as well as to provide low stress training. Emphasis on 'low stress'.3 points

This will be the plant I will test my soil on. It's an Inzane in the membrane cross with a mistery strain. Don't know how it got pollinated... Maybe my neighbour doesn't know how to identify males. Let's she how she'll take it.3 points

I also started out with nutriplex, and honestly, it was really great! And cheap... You just have to familiarize yourself with the makeup of each bottle so you know what bottle has what... From there you can teach yourself to play with the schedule and fix deficiencies as you spot them. Iv moved away from Nutriplex for the sole reason that I can buy cheaper nutes... Like hortimix. But nutriplex will grow you some nice dank3 points

All a question of the wallet Pot size matters. 20 liter for fems is little, for autos to much. If you have the money and water, go airpots or fabric pots. Fertilizer same, if you dont mind, go BioBizz and Freedom Farm Premium Classic soil. With that combo you can skip the ph/ec and ppm pen. Have 2 eyes on outdoor temp when you start. For the rest i wish you good luck! Use some quality seeds with those quality materials.. if you go bag seed. Get your stuff from the standard nursery and stay as cheap as you can. Result will be same.. cheap shit3 points

Hi @Popcoen its my guess that there is a issue with your medium, did you amend the mix with anything, do you have a way to check the runoff ph and ec? Looks like severe Ca and Mg deficiency at first glance, the clawed leaves show high Nitrogen, but the plant won't be able to photosynthesize properly without enough Ca and Mg.2 points

Honestly i rather u leave each thing individually wired. With short cables about 1 - 1.5m long outside the growbox. And get an extension . Plug everything to an extension near the grow box. And have 1 plug run to the plug point. Gives u total control of each and everything. Just in case some things not working aswell or u dont like it. Or want to upgrade. Whatever the reason.2 points

I get what you saying bro. And the light at the back does put out abit of heat. But i mounted my light on the outside of my box. So the only heat that goes in the box is from the front of the light. As mentioned earlier. At 400mm away from the light i sit at about 25-27 degrees with no cooling. I normally run an extraction fan. So it drops my temp to about 23-25 degrees. I think thats pretty decent temps. And im basically maximizing on the lumens. Giving the plant as much as she can take without burning her. (The sun is alot tougher trust me) when i leave my plant in direct sunlight for a while. My hygro goes above 38 degrees. So im pretty happy with what the light is giving me currently. My plant is 10 days old here. She has only been getting the 150w led or direct sun. 24 hours of light2 points

I have a Ghost Train Haze cross i want to preserve. Got a few seeds from a friend, and the ones he grew from the same batch were sublime. Cannot find anything in the same league locally. Going to practice on a Durban Poison first and if it works out then I will proceed with them.2 points

Yes, started on Saturday with the flip. There will be a couple of days between pulling out the current plants and planting the new plants into the same soil. What do I need to do with the soil if I want to use it again@SkunkPharm ? Also, I plan on running grows like this from now onwards instead of having huge plants at the end of the grow. If I grow 4 / 3 plants at a time it will give a nice variety. I wanted to veg a bit shorter but yeah, life happened but its ok. My plants get exactly 12 hours sleep a night but will definitely let them go longer later in the flower cycle. With my first grow I noticed that the sun and wind really did a number on the plants and those are things I want to avoid going further, but not yet fully indoor grow. Thanks for all of the suggestions thus far.2 points

Sprout teas are great! Full of amino acids and vital growing blocks for all types of plants! Another tea to consider is your bokashi teas, which are anaerobic teas. And then you get your aerobic teas with oxygen consuming microbes and fungi. Check my signature out for my teas thread! I should actually add onto it sometime... Need to redesign my vortex brewer2 points

Yea... Time is very very short... I don't think peeps can finish an outdoor grow if they flip now. Will likely try reveg if left too long. Spring is 1st of spring, but tons of shit is growing before then already. If you guys plan on using the sun much longer, you must be diligent with bringing them in at night to sleep for as close to 12 hours as possible... I'd even say you can go up to 14 hours of darkness for the last 2or3 weeks of flower2 points

Nutriplex was the first nutes I ever used in my first ever grow. Treat the recommended doses as the MAX, keep your feeds at about 2/3 the recommended dose and you should be good.2 points

Recommendation for soil when growing autoflowers in future. Use more fluffy soil less dense (airy) and nutrient dense. They dont need allot to become big plants. My suggestion os to either use freedom farms soil. Or 1/4 coco 1/4 perlite 1/4 wormcastings 1/4 enormous buds soil Anyway use it dont use it. Just a suggestion. I was always put off by auto flowers because I did not understand that less is more. Also the bigger your pots the bigger your plants.2 points

If you are starting out and you want to mix your own soil there is some amendment packs availible around. One that I can think of right now is availible from Jamies garden shop. How big do you want you plant to be? The bigger your pot the bigger the plant. My last grow I used 40~70l fabric pots. Depending on your experience just set up an irrigation system then you only have to worry about filling the reservoir and you don't have to worry about watering every day. I am lazy.2 points

No problem.Haha, it's pretty simple. Organic soil just means that it has nutrient amendments produced from natural sources - however does not mean that it contains microbial life. With organic soil you could add organic nutrients (made from natural sources), or nutrients that are salt-based (provided in their chemical salt form). Salt-based nutrients feed your tree directly. Living soil on the other hand has a ton of beneficial microbes that produce nutrients from the stuff in the soil and you would use organic nutrients or additives to feed the microbes in the soil to boost nutrient production for your tree in the medium. You shouldn't use salt-based nutes in living soil because it will eventually stop the symbiotic relationship between your tree and the microbes, eventually leading to the microbe life dying off completely by starvation. *Living soil is usually Organic, but not all Organic soil is living!* Sent from my POCOPHONE F1 using Tapatalk2 points

Some better pics of the mainline structures. just for @afternoon blazer these girls are beefy and the structure should be able to hold any sized colas they can develop, unless I get some freaks of nature that is.. we can only hope. I think I will be flipping tomorrow and throwing in the daddy 400W HPS bulbs. Also good to note, everything up until now has been under 250W MH bulbs (minus the soil plants of course, strictly speaking the mainlined plants). So you could comfortably grow 2 plants and mainline both of them under a single 250W for veg. This was secretly a little test I wanted to conduct to see if one could do it and I think the 250W bulbs get a bad rep, but if it's all you got for veg, I'd have to say don't stress2 points

@Dank Hi Dank, So I’m using just cannabis soil and I have gone according to their recommendations and fed them recently with Molasses and Epsom salts.. could that be the issue?1 point

The clawing could definitely be wind burn. Remind me pls what light you're using and how close is it to the canopy?1 point

So I thought I’d give budbuddies a try and bought a 3 pack of Green House Seeds super lemon haze. Ordered yesterday afternoon and received now. They also sent me a poster, a sticker, catalogs and rolling papers! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

@Naughty.Psychonaut Picked up those T8 led tubes for R200 each, 4 tubes total 72w. Those veg like a bomb too! @afternoon blazerneed you to show me how to wire them together so I don’t have to make 2 plugs lol? They just straight connect. So could I bridge them bud?1 point

Hey bro, Sorry, I've been away and things have been a bit hectic on my side. Here are some pics taken today... Second pic is the Gelato Samba Auto. I gave her, her first feed of seagrow on Sunday and started her training and she had some nice growth in the last 2 days1 point

Personally I think 600W MH for those sized plants (and especially from seed for that matter) is way too much power. I can mainline two different plants fully throughout veg with just a single 250W MH, and even then I'm only going to use 400W HPS in flower for two plants, 16 colas total between them. I'd use 600W MH/HPS if I were growing a SCrOG per 1.2m², and even then if you can afford a 600W kit you'd then rather go 250W Quantum Board cause then you don't need as much cooling plus you get better spread. But these are recent lessons of mine and I'm doing one more round with the bulbs before converting myself over fully to Quantum Boards.1 point

Remember that when you make seeds, it goes back to a lucky packet of sorts. It will introduce variance. Cutting will ensure its a clone / identical plant, seeds will not - you may need to dig in the seeds to find the pheno you're after.1 point

Shot man, I'm thinking of adding it to my fresh water supply if that's the case. Make a pre buffered source of feed water. Maybe magnesium sulphate and silica1 point
-
I did experience this as well. It happened for me if I added the silica at any time after adding nutes and had the airstones on. If I keep the airstones off, add the silica first to fresh water and then add nutes, mix physically then switch on airstones I don't get any froth.1 point

You must start flowering. Time is becoming short to still complete the flowering cycle before spring.1 point

Container: I would go with a bucket, because having a fabric pot outside will dry your medium out really quickly due to the increased air permeability of the pot walls. Medium: Craft soil for Cannabis is your best option here... You can go with a base mix with some amendments, then use salt or organic based nutrients. Other option would be living soil (IMO this is better for planting in a pot outdoors). Nutrients: If you really want to, GHE Flora & BioBizz are the most user-friendly I believe. I would go with some Microbe tea in living soil for this kind of run, it would be easier to maintain due and feed. pH testing: Essential if growing in a pot and you aren't going with living soil (Living soil kind of buffers out the pH to where you plant needs it to be, and generally just needs to be watered with some dechlorinated tap water - although you can feed the microbial life to boost their nutrient production). You can dechlorinate water by leaving it in a covered, opened container for 24-48hrs1 point

She is currently in lights out, will harvest tomorrow afternoon probably. Looks like it should be an easy trim too1 point

yeah.. they are a bit slow hehehe I think the light comes into play here. The 8 week blue cheese is on a different speed train They went pre week 2 and were fully flowering week 4. Biggest even reached 70cm so far.. but is really a long shot of the others with around 45cm, they should get to 65-70 final.. so nice size. Gorillas are 90 now and have super dense buds.. so far so good The smell is promising If they taste nice, I get me same again and do it with QBs.. see how that ends. Blue Cheese on a mission end week 5 Left is a Bubblelicious and right blueberry kush, they are a bit behind1 point

Flippen nice idea this. Clone transport seems iffy but wtf. Indoor growers will have a bit of an advantage wrt to cloning and vegging abilities all year round. But summer is around the corner, then the outdoor growers can play ball too.1 point

Welcome to the fam @Freshlypicked A nice airy soilmix should get dry enough to water in about 3 to 4 days when plants are young. As they grow u will notice them requiring more watering at times when roots have filled the pots. Seedlings take their time getting outa the gate, like @Ill_Evan mentioned, developing their root mass etc. Transplanting probably slowed them down a bit as well, give em some time and they ill pick up speed. In a seedling mix they will probably start requiring some nutrients when they get bigger.1 point

Agree with the bark(acidic) and ''nursery potting soil'' comments. Most ''store bought'' mixes are not ideal for cannabis-some are even lethal. Would suggest you look at aerating the mix as well by adding some perlite, it will also aid with drainage. Also with that size bag, go easy on the watering. Those size bags will take long to dry out, you risk the seedlings damping off. Those size seedlings need about 250ml every 3rd day only and no nutes untill about 3 weeks old.
