I added 40 liters of old donkey manure and about 5 liters of bran. Crushed most of the manure and tilled it all in again. The manure will help to add more carbon to the soil, some Nitrogen as well as loosening the mix. As it breaks down it will benefit both the bacteria and fungi in the soil. There are many benefits adding some good quality manure to soils, however this is best done a month or two beforehand.5 points

Both the pellets should work for germination. We are growing perpetual outdoor basically, I reuse all my soil. Growing chillies, grenadilla, guavadilla, sweet pototoes and tomatoes. Do batches of about 500lit every 3-4 months, amend with bonemeal, dolomite lime, composted manure and own compost(and whatever else looks good)and let cook for 3 months. It can be done if you prepared to swing a spade and sweat a bit. Our plants are happy. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk4 points

I got permission from my better half to sink a 600l tub into the ground as a goldfish pond. The bonus, i have a brand new 600l raised soil bed to get to work on. The soil is a sandy and somewhat clayish mix, i will do quite a bit to get it ready for planting in October or perhaps November. First step i did was to add some CaMg in the form of Dolomite lime, as well as some DE. Adding calcium to clay soils can help release trapped mg in the clay. It also improves the soil structure, i will add a few amendments of Ca before the bed is finished. I don't use bonemeal anymore for various reasons. Ontop of that I added some semi decomposed leaf compost, and covered the leaf compost with homemade compost before tilling it all in.4 points

@Saurus howz those lights working out bro? @awildmeme did u end up getting ur lights? Are u using them? @Naughty.Psychonaut any updates how your 4 ladies are doing under that 50w? @ORGANinc. howz your 150w working out bro?3 points

Quick update , Been a bit busy. Ladies are looking lovely in my opinion .Can see the different quality in genetics from the thicker leaves on the putins punch and more leafy leaves ( if that makes sense ) on the outdoor seeds. Got 4 smaller ones under the blurple light in the small grow area. This floodlight is really really good and the plants seems to be loving it.3 points

@awildmeme your grow is looking great so far bud well done It looks like this thread is essentially becoming a diary so I'm going to move it under the Grow Diaries board if that's alright. This board is more for questions/topics on how to get a grow going for the first time. Cheers2 points

@afternoon blazer A bit too early to tell bud, but so far so good! Friday will be 2 weeks under the light so would be a good description of progress2 points

I added a bit of wood ash, and 10l of well aged leaf compost. I have this box of EcoVit lying around, so added roughly 250g before mixing again. After some tilling i gave the first water, mixed EM ProSoil at about 1ml a liter. Drainage is very poor at the moment, but to be expected with the clay present. Little nugshot of a ExodusCheese bud getting ready for picking.2 points

I'm following. Flowering ladies need the highest quality light source they can get to grow dank nugs... As well as the right amount of light. Where the sun checks both those boxes... Indoor lights often don't. As we spoke about the Acdc cool white being strictly for veg... I feel it's important to add that it's not just the colour of the light... It's the quality of the diodes. So as much as I love the lights for veg, the diodes are just not top quality or Horticultural spectrum to be able to meet your plants needs in flower. I don't think they will make that much of a difference tbh... But it would make a better night light over the cool white.. But again. Rather save that money and put it towards a proper light. And then you should notice a sweet difference in yeilds.2 points

This time of the year up until we hit Sept(more than 12hrs daylight) you want to use as much sun as possible imo. Our girls are in full sun unless it's cloudy, the plants only get shade when they finishing up (last 2 days) The plants will grow in a shady area with dappled/indirect sunlight. Just try to maximize the sun that you've got. They are germed indoors and planted out in the greenhouse to strengthen up(help avoid the goggas while they young), once I have 2 nodes they go outside in full sun. Awesome man, im going to try make a nice "Madalas" supersoil, or living soil. I wont be buying as many inputs as normal supersoil recipes, so for a real Super Soil mix best to search online. For the Madala mix, u came too the right place Main goal is a mineral rich, probiotic (beneficial microbes etc) soil with higher fungi counts than most soils.2 points

So I want to try and improve my system a bit. These smaller carrot work well for my 20L fabric pots. I have a small pump for an aquarium in my res, so no need to have the res high off the ground. Although I'm thinking try and put a larger pump in next time and then see whether the drippers are more balanced or look into a dripper ring of sorts, similar to what flora flex have I guess. The blumat tropf carrots are super easy to setup and fine tune. To fine tune its just turning the screw at the top to loosen or tighten the grip it has on the tubing. It doesn't leak, unlike my DIY attempt at an automatic watering system and does not require high pressure to ensure even feeding as each carrot can be adjusted individually. The carrots only provide water when the medium dried up a bit - so plants only get water when needed and not as per a set schedule. Over watering isn't really a problem with coco, but if one were to use it with soil it can help prevent that. Fertigation I find leads to better growth and my plants seem happier compared to when I was feeding by hand with a watering can. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk2 points

I have to agree with @afternoon blazer If I can have my name, or any name for that matter or even my own slogan or some shit on it, it would be the coolest thing ever! I guess that becomes a bit more of a thing if it's alongside a branded name, so I'm not designing my own thing completely. I guess that is something that's already available. I would say if you where thinking of making 10 caps for the first batch make 5 baseball caps and 5 ones with the flat brim. I just emailed Freedom Farms to get a hoodie from them an was just thinking how cool it would be to have my name or slogan on one of their hoodies. Sadly they don't have hoodies right now. Also excited to see your designs!!2 points

Super share bro. Looking forward to seeing this grow. I for one gonna take this opportunity to learn how to prep my soil for the upcoming season.2 points

Pretty much on the money [emoji1362] If you want to extend the hours of light, it'll work just fine... But if you're trying to keep on developing buds with those lights in those extra hours, you're gonna need more than 2 lights for 1 plant IMO... Although, the plant would have not been getting any light during those hours anyway, so it will help to some extent. Sent from my POCOPHONE F1 using Tapatalk2 points

The bonemeal attracts some unwanted visitors like rats and other animals. The other reason is the questionable meat industry, growth hormones, gmo feeds, etc. Some bonemeal in the states are coming up with very high traces of heavy metals in tests.2 points

So with enough time to spare I'm squeezing in a regular seed run. Clones are doing their thing in veg. Still waiting on a clone or 2 to reach size for a transplant and another 3 or 4 weeks veg. Females in the tent: Slurricane, Blunicorn, Ghost train haze #1, Green Crack, Chocolope NL x Gelato #33, Orange Kush Cake, Male: It was a toss up between a chocolope NL or GTH male originally, but the gelato cross males are really interesting me right now. Howzit everyone, I'm starting my first grow this week and just have a few simple questions. I have 3 of these https://www.cannabist.co.za/cannabis-seeds/strawberry-banana-cheese-feminised/?mc_cid=da921550bb and just going to plant 1 seed for now. I have a 36cm pot and some soil but I've been reading that it's better to start in something smaller? Would a cut plastic bottle with some holes at the bottom be fine for the beginning? I'm doing them in a spare cupboard, about 50cm x 50cm x 300cm. I have an MH bulb and a timer too, but my original plan was to grow outside before being convinced not to :P I'm going to start germinating tonight, so far what looks like the best method to me is putting it in water for 24 hours then putting in moist paper towels in a zip lock bag for a few days. If anyone thinks there's a better method for me to use please let me know. Here's a list of what I have to work with (a lot of this stuff was given to me by a buddy of mine so not entirely sure what it's all for just yet haha) Strawberry Banana Cheese Feminised seeds Nitrosol Organic fertiliser 85W 6400k Fluorescent CFL Liquid PH Up & Down PH testing kit Analogue timer 46cm pot Potting soil (pics attached) Soil and room temp thermometers TLDR: Basically what I'm asking is: * Is this germination method okay?: Putting it in water for 24 hours then putting in moist paper towels in a zip lock bag for a few days. * Is my pot too big for these seeds right now? If so can I use a cut plastic bottle? * Is my medium okay?1 point

Like my AACT's bruh, brewing every week almost. They can be a pita but the benefits outweigh the efforts for me as I don't use any commercial ''myco'' products anywhere in my grow. For new soil I do a combo of 3 to 4 innoculations usually after a bi weekly turning. I try to vary between bacteria dom and fungi dom. 2x own compost AACT (with soil from established plants) 2x wild AACT from local field and forest. Molasses and Seagrow being the main catalysts. As well as after seedling transplant if I can help it. Going to use SST's this year as well for Veg and bloom and got some bottled seaweed FPJ that will be going in the mix. What mix do you prefer? Got my first seeds from marijuanaseedssa.co.za during lockdown lvl 4/5 if I remember correctly. Was responsive and friendly and always replied to emails. Just harvested the first and second is around the corner. Got a picknmix of 4 different seeds so no freebies, but all the beans popped so can vouch for Nirvana quality.1 point

Thanks @CreX some solid info. If i do get the warm white light. I would still be putting the girl outside in the 10 hours of sun. And instead of a dark period i would use the light at night. But i would do this only if its gona make sense and make some difference. Instead of no light. Adding Some light that helps flowering. Yes it probably is not gona grow me some dank nugs. BUT. . . Wouldnt some warm white light help instead of no light at all??? If i need to get 300w of light in there for a very small difference. Then it obviously wont be worth it. Due to power consumtion and what not. For example lets say the plant is growing at a performance level of 65%. With only 10 hours of direct sunlight. If the warm white light helps to let the plant grow at a performance rate of 10-15 percent more. Which would put me on a 80 percent performance grow rate. That seems benificial. But if the warm white light gives me only 10 percent better growth performance. It would not be worth the trouble. I hope this isnt too confusing.1 point

Sounds and looks good@Dank Found a good source of composted herbivorous manure for my mix. Research indicates rabbit manure is best apparently. Would like to try it one day. You going to use AACT on that mound? Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk1 point

I feel it's pretty much a loaded question here... Basically 2 questions. Is the Acdc 2700k warm white floodlight good for flowering, or better for flowering than the cool white floodlights? And is the Acdc warm white better for flowering AF or PF. 1)yes, the warm white will be a better flowering type light than the cool white. But you must remember that these lights are designed as floodlights, and likely do not have an improved colour rendering index for Horticulture use. Is this a problem? I mean, the light colour is similar right? Well right and wrong. Yes in the sense that it is a similar colour, but wrong in the sense that you might need 300w of acdc light to provide a similar amount of photons as a 150w Horticulture quantam board or Horticulture diode array. 2)And because you are extending the hours for a flowering AF, I would agree that the warm white flood light would be a better source of red light than the 6000k veg light. 3) what difference can you expect at the end of the day? The cool white will promote shorter stretch than the warm white will. But the warm white should produce marginally better nugs. I'm not sure the difference is worth splitting ends over though. And my reason for this is your AF is getting great sunlight. Full spectrum and high intensity... The 10 hours in the sun will do more good for your plant than 20 hours under your light1 point
-
Yeah, my 2 hygrometers for the clone domes, are around my room, and then my HTC2 hygrometer, and they all read differently, but have different temp and RH on them, but my dehumidifier has the actual, so it switches off and on at the actual. So it's getting used too also and fine tuning, too little humidity and the plant cant absorb CO2 and that was my issue now, but with my light being too close it was also getting too hot at that, it gave fox tails and bad buds on top.1 point
-
My thoughts are if it's the right color temp, sunset, you simulate sunset, with them when coming inside, but this also more so for the photo period plant, than AF. Some body who does AF more might now better1 point
-
Haha, no worries. As long as@zolrooker gets what we're saying. There's just too much of info on everything honestly... As soon as you learn about humidity, you hear of VPD... Once you know VPD, you learn you can push limits if you're using CO2... It just keeps adding on top of the old information... But whenever I mention humidity, I mean RH unless I state otherwise. Thanks for the clarification between the 2 though. Sent from my POCOPHONE F1 using Tapatalk1 point
-
Oh definitely, VPD chart is RH and to follow that you follow the RH, no other way. I had thought his 2 units read differently and was trying to explain it, as I understood them before asking, so essentially my bad.1 point

Moved the blurple light to my cupboard , around a 80w light from my research ( was sold as a 300w but yeah ). Was in the tent originally but with the floodlight I figured having the LED in the cupboard for less heat is better. Got 3 bag seeds and a small auto in the back . The one other auto didnt make it. Since it was free seeds I dont really mind. Will be staying away from autos for now as I feel there is to little margin for error. Having screwed my plants in the first 2 weeks to where they are now , autos simply would have just been a fail , photos I could atleast try save. With the auto being a bit fooked I would be surprised if it gives me 10g's1 point
-
Just realised the heading says Auto, why not keep her under 20hr or 24hr light till the end? Put her outside on very nice days. The previous post was meant for photoperiod plants. Happy growing @afternoon blazer1 point

@afternoon blazer she is looking nice ekse Sun is good and if u want to use the veg light to extend daylight hours to 12 it should help. Carrying plants around a lot during flower could be stressful for them. Being out in the cold nights also a bit of a stress and slows growth (could severely damage weaker plants). Depending how cold it gets where u live.1 point

What up 420 Fam. Update time. Week 4 Day 22 Grow is going good so far. Have not had any issues. Really happy about that. Sweet tooth doesnt seem to get very bushy. But nice and thick stem. No training done. She is in pre flower at the moment. For the past week. I have been feeding some nutez at 75 percent strength. She seems to like it. Last watering was Saturday. Approximatly 500ml. Biobizz grow and seagrow. 1ml per 1.5L of declorinated water. I have been watering in circles around the diameter of the pot. 1st nute feeding was a circle midway between center of pot and then next was along the out of pot. Then nidway point again. Just tryna get the roots to fill out the pot nicely. This week i will be feeding gro. Seagrow and some bloom. Staying at 75 percent strength. Depending how she responds. Next week will be full strength Nutez. So due to her now being in preflower. Can i have some suggestions please in terms of lighting. The veg light now becomes obsolete? Weather seems to be warming up at night. Should i just leave her outside from now on to do her thing? Or should i give her as much direct sun and then bring her inside at night and keep her in a dark veg box with air circulation? Or should i still use the veg light for a few suplementary light hours?1 point

Thank you so much. I was actually thinking of getting some snapbacks and some baseball caps so people can choose (I myself prefer the baseball cap). It'll also give me a feel for which sells more. Its the reason I've held off ordering until Tuesday, just refining the first order a little. I do have a name, and a brand logo - just haven't registered and trademarked it yet so sorry bro but I can't post it right now. I will next week though as the CIPC systems come back online tomorrow and I just need to transfer a few hundred bucks so I can register a company and then things will get going. Still need a slogan though. Haha yeah it's a hoodie after all, but what I mean is like I need to look for someone that uses good quality material, then find someone that can do some quality printing within my budget [emoji23]... But yeah it's all coming soon guys, it's been moving along nicely and I've got about 5 or 6 custom designs now (1 is the brand logo which actually will look nice on a cap). Yes, 3 of those 50w's seem more appropriate, but then why not just go for the 150w for R390?3 x the 50w will set you back R570. +/- R180 difference.1 point

@awildmeme I also got one. Dont even think about it. Spend your money bro. Can’t wait to set it up!1 point

Yes boooiii, 3 x that 150w in a 1mx1m space will toast your ladies. I am running a 50w in a 80cm x 80cm space and plants are happy! Again this is 50w, got 4 plants under the thing. 2 of them and you'll be flying, bro. No doubt.1 point

Watsup man. Great idea. Except I think 450w of that light in a 1x1m tent is alot of light. For vegging I think you'd only need 1 to be honest. I have 3 50w that I use in my 1.2x0.6m tent. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk1 point

Due for a small update. Sadly none of my GTH seeds sprouted, but I'm hoping for a female clone from the source to include in this winter's run. 11 May Well over 200 of my F4 beans sprouted on a farm neither here nor there. Haven't been to visit since, but going through this week. So excited to just get out there and away from the suburbs. I want to go and remove all the males and do some other thinning. All these little ones have since been planted in the ground and well on their way. Will update on the visit. Then I have 2 of my F4 girls here, chosen from 20. I finally have a female with morphed phyllotaxy. There have been hundreds but never a female. These two, are destined to be treated with STS and will be my Choco pollen donors that are pollinating clones taken from the farm. These are in soil I got from @SkunkPharm, and they are loving it. Thanks for helping a brother out when lockdown was at high tide. I haven't fed once, and these were transplanted to 15l pots from 5l this morning in the same soil, so giving it a proper test.1 point
