I would suggest setting your flower light schedule from 9PM to 9am. This is a good move for heat management anyway Yes eskom does load shed during the midnight hours from time to time but not that often. They most commonly load shed from 9am to 10PM so at least you get 11 hours of light in when load shedding runs4 points

Pure sinewave should not be needed for majority of equipment in a tent. It generally all passes through an SMPS which converts it back to DC. Led driver Extraction fan Both of these normally have their own power supplies. This is typically what you'd prioritise to keep running during load shedding. Items with motors which run on AC, that's where problems can occur if it's run on a modified sine wave inverter. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk3 points

Awesome @Bay Seeds. Received the beans. Will start the germenation over the weekend and should have some seedlings by next week Thursday.3 points

What I have done was to divide my lights into 2 in coming lines of electricity. Each line in its own timer. One from the inverter and one from normal power. When the electricity shuts off during loadshedding the lights stay on. Not all the lights but some of them. I have 2 110amp 12v deep cycle batteries and a 1000w inverter battery charger. Batteries and inverter sounds like allot of money but if you work it out with the current petrol price you would have covered that cost within the first year. Oh I am on led and when the power is off I only run about 400w worth of lights and fans.3 points

I'm going to be running my lights after 10pm as I see for stage 2 loadshedding stops at 10pm.3 points

So it starts. @Bay Seeds tester pack. 6 Regular Auto Flower F1 seeds. Currently germinating. I use a old penlite battery box, paper towel and my Openview decoder... Sure fire... every time.. 100% germination within 24hrs.... counting my chickens right... Just had some of @Totemic 's Bubble Berry Glue.... I am pleasantly surprised and stoned... I will discus this further in his tester section... Yum yum... So here we go... My first experience with autos were rather disappointing.. I do have high hopes though.. These babies will be grown outdoor in Freedom Farm classic Soil. (Green Bag) Started in a 1L pot for the first 4 weeks or up and untill they show sex. Then they will be transplanted to the 30L Freedom Farm Grow bag. At this point I will start feeding, in a verry low dosage, some microbes and Fire Juice. Plants will only be outside if there is open skies no wind, plenty of sun and temps above 20' C. Otherwize they will be kept in a window sill with plenty of sunshine. There's the plan gromies... And that is what I can do with what I have... The Bubble Berry glue was grown outside... verry little sunshine bad potting soil... sharing a pot with tomatoes and chillies.. well.. to be continued else were.. These should fare much better with a little more TLC. Any takers on the males? PM me..2 points

As long as they veg, give them all 2 weeks a copper soap spray, keeps PM at bay. For flower... i repeat myself, sorry guys.. get some Serenade garden disease control... would also make the copper soap obsolete... and Serenade easy to use while flowering. Leaves no taste behind on the smoke2 points

I usually run my autos 20/4.. the gorillas were just a non effort grow. They got nutes, that was it. I finish the diary on saturday or if i get the time tomorrow. Finish... will not have the full harvest results. The three small plants are harvested, dried and in the jars.. smell awesome. 136g dry so far, the 5 big ones hanging to dry.. i might dress and jar them saturday or sunday. If your tent is rather full... backup the airflow. Yes, not growing during night cycle.. but humidity increases and i am close to the ocean. PM is a bit annoying so fresh air i prefer over light. If eskom plays balls, my ventilation runs 24/7 and cooks my climate2 points

I have i diary here with royal gorillas autos, they ran 24/0 autos rock!2 points

Autos for sure in this case, already have the seeds. But with 3 or more load sheds per day, I'm pretty sure that even autos would run into problems. I have an inverter for my phone & internet, and another for my TV and sound. I'm no stranger. They are however too small to use for my grow tent, though... but they are a game changer for sure2 points
-
Thanks the unit I've been quoted on already has it built in. I've also got Autos ready and waiting. See, I done my homework ;) ;)2 points

I honestly dont know what I'd do without my inverter, my plants and room dont skip a beat, and I get to make coffee and watch tv, with one light on in the tv room.2 points

@Bakstein420 brother wanted to ask, and now as I'm watching the hot box show, is that you with the beard? @Stinger96 bro dont hate2 points

Pure sine, no other way if you want your stuff to last, and I know some will not like that statement, but it is true... My parents have these spots, charge day time and on at night, last the whole night, and sure you macgyver it to a timer or sorts or relay to work when power is out.2 points

Understandable. I have neighbours who are both in SAPS and they obviously smell when we smoke so now they do not allow their kid to play at our house anymore which is actually very sad seeing as the child was allowed previously when we smoked incognito but anyway. Goodluck with the Eskom issue as I dont see it going away any time soon. What about building some type of "greenhouse" outside where the neighbours will only see the structure. Then, grow some herbs, tomatoes etc and give them some, saying you built the structure because you are interested in growing so vegetables etc.2 points

You want to be able to zoom in after the picture is taken, and see this... Red (arrow) or amber / gold (*) head on the ends of the trichomes1 point

So i tried taking pics with my Huawei P20. Hope these are clear enough. Alot of leaves truned yellow overnight, this first growth really turning out horrible. @StickyD420 hope these help1 point

Nice one Prom. Sounds great and makes me feel more at ease for sure. Ya I was a bit concerned about PM as I do live by the coast... I was wanting to go with SOG so airflow shouldn't be too much of an issue but I prefer to be cautious, so I'll just hijack my TV's small inverter and batteries, then run the fans only, no lights, when Eskom takes a load shit. Glad to know you're the "auto guy" ;) I might ask you for a little advice in the future, hope that's cool1 point
-
@Prom I was thinking of running mine on 20/4 (or as close to that as I can get with being load shat). And there was no noticeable signs of stress at all with 24/0? I've heard of dudes doing that but many said it's not recommended... With load shedding that won't be a problem though ;) Maybe then I should just leave the lights and fans on permanently, using Eskom's load-shedding as the dark cycle/s every day.... What you think of that?1 point
-
@StickyD420 This is the type of info I was looking for all along. Cheers and thanks for reading my comments carefully, I think a few guys here missed the point. So that changes things somewhat... I'll then get started with my auto seeds, and work towards getting a pure sine wave inverter + correct batteries to match. I can smell the dank already1 point
-
They can take 24 hours light and go fine, or a little as Eskom let you have1 point
-
@StickyD420 You saw one explode?!? hahaha wow I believe you may have helped me dodge a bullet. Legendary. Thanks again man, I'll definitely check out Battery Power Zone, and match up the batteries to the inverter! Awesome info, much appreciated.1 point
-
Nope, if eskom would even shedd 10 hours a day for the full plant cycle, autos would finish with no stress at all. They come from the high north, with extremely short day light times. Reason they stopped using the sun as indicator, the more the better... but you cant accidental get flowering in early stages with outages. They still veg even in 5 hours light and follow their inturnal timer1 point
-
That has the decor in, have opened it before and you normally get the cheapest of cheap, Chinese batteries in it, as you cant see them Again, I'm not the guy here, but I'd think so, and can be wrong.1 point

That is what I was told yes, and because I run a motor in my fridge and dehumidifier, and fans with motors, thought I'd go for the pure. Plus, my Samsung tv had a bad buzz on it testing no pure wave and returned it, so was needed for me.1 point

Not bad for a 100w and as u say last the entire night. Free freaking power.1 point

Also the auto idea. As @Prom suggested is excellent. Screw the lights. But either way i suggest getting the inverter system. 1 of the best investments i made for loadshedding. Allows me to stay sane and keep myself well entertained.1 point
-
Mhhh, short way around light issues... use autoflower... and no timer on the light if eskom goes nuts. I used backup on my lights to bridge eskom... swapped that to keep the ventilation going now. Humidity goes up to much otherwise. And i agree with @SkunkPharm get a pure sin, other could make your leds flicker1 point

I have never seen anyone grow regular autos before, so will be watching this with interest.1 point

Thanks for your input man. Ya, we did also consider the greenhouse thing but it's positioning in our garden wouldn't be ideal. Some day I'll do one with lights, that's my ultimate setup idea. Think we'll hang on a few weeks until we can afford the UPS. Cheers dude!1 point

Regulars only. We made some feminized t900 x kc strawberrys seeds ealier this year, but not enough to sell. I didnt enjoy the process and only got like 300 seeds for monthes of work.1 point
-
I like this idea. Get a 240w led driver and run that off the inverter and the rest of the lights in the tent off normal mains. Fans can be run off inverter too - so when there is loadshedding some light remains on at least. Everything stays on a timer too. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk1 point

Kinda a bit of a blessing as most of the strains I am growing are hybrids with short flowering times and having to sit with a sativa that is still flowering whilst the others are done is a pain Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Actually my Father in Law is Basil, Not too bad a guy All ,my seeds so far has been Nirvana from marijuanaseedssa. They actually delivered in lvl5 lockdown way back. Already harvested a Bubbleliscious and a Short Rider is coming down this weekend. These are the next round.1 point

Is there a lawyer, judge in here? I have a technical question... must have a "green" person knowledgeable into law in here if there is, please send me a private message... question is related to the cannabis draft, nothing personal.1 point

I'd say about 2 to 3 weeks still, but you need to check the trichomes or you essentially guessing and can be way out. Pictures as mentioned1 point

My friend has one of those USB microscope cameras. They work great. Well worth it. Once disconnected from the stand you need a steady hand though. With the Carson even more so.. Good scope but you can not take pictures.. If you have the moola, get it..1 point

Would make 1 meter rows, 4 rows, about 70cm walk space in between, 12 meter long rows. 48 meter x 1 meter grow area. 3 QBs per meter. 144 QBs with 120 watt per QB. 17280 watt. 415 units a day, 12450 units a month... just the light. 30 to 40% for ventilation. Might be same amount for AC as light 32k units for Eskom a month total, perhaps build a small koeberg for a MOAT is best 768 autos... conservative guessing.. 38 kg dry each 9 to 12 weeks depending on strain. Full time job for 5 people to grow... little army to trim and dress I might need one of these tents if the coffee shop becomes reality shut up, let me dream!1 point

When you can have just 4 plant... good genetics get a lot more important. As much as i can recommend the result of the smoke, blue cheese, blueberry kush and the bubbelicious, grow a bit all over the hight range. The nirvana WW was small in general, great for small low hight tents, also great smoke.. but just low yield. The bubbelicious still grows.. i had to go to stange ways to get the lamp up. Next i put ratchet directly on the lamp, they are in a hurry for day 67. One of the differences between autos and photos... you tell a photo what to do.. auto tells you what you have to do I know for sure.. when those 8 plants are out, i put 8 gelatos in.1 point
