Been a while since the last update, still building on the initial flower production. Things have been pretty breezy so far. The three harvested plants.. one was very very low.. the corner plant beside the duct didnt really got a lot of light. I also didn't expect them to get that tall.. 6 would have been better for this size tent.. but, was a first time grow.. will do them again. ^^ Video week 12, I took em end week 12.. wasn't really 50% but I had a bit enough of the waiting hehehe plant was 8-10 weeks after Royal Queen Seeds.. might have taken 13 to get them 50/50 all 8 hanging, the first three harvested are on the right.. middle of the three is the smallest yielder (25g dry), the other two reached 58g each (i always round down) 141 grams so far Made a pic when I trimmed the leaves of one of the big ones

Ok so I feel that my lights are at the optimum for the new tent. 525w in the middel and 120w on each side. The Slurricane is almost there one more week to 10days I guess. Starting to see some amber trics.

Here we are 14 days into flower today Plants got one Microbe and one Fire Juice feed and the rest just water. Stretch was about 13cm so far and my limited light height problem might work out to be not a big problem. Hi there Friends, I'm new to the group but been browsing for a few weeks before signing up. I have started my first grow in Winter indoors with no lighting, intention was always to grow outside once it gets warmer. I purchased feminized Northern Lights and Blue Cheese as I was particularly looking for strains to support with a little pain relief but more to aid sleep. Obviously the high is an added benefit. I have 2 of each growing in 420 mix with a little earthworms compost and been feeding weekly with fresh earthworms (Juice) from my composting box. I started 3 weeks ago using Micro, Grow and Bloom 3 parts since a friend suggested using this to improve yields. Seeds were purchased from Mary Jane Seed company, I have no clue about the quality of their seeds but suspect oen of them is a Male, please can anyone confirm this? The pics are of the Northern Lights, first Pic looks like a male, the other looks very good(I think) Appreciate any coaching and advise, will post more pics tomorrow. Raf

Hey buds, life kinda took over hence the silence. I made the decision to reduce my plants to 4, 8 just seemed to much for the light coverage. Two happy rabbits and a parrot though. The remaining plants seemed to like the new arrangement but then again every parent will tell you how beautiful their baby is. Although I did get light burn of a sorts or a potassium deficiency more than likely. I had to harvest a week or so earlier than I wanted to due to lighting issues. Was not exactly happy but what can you do. All in all I'm happy with the outcome. Going into something you not familiar with and expecting low results sometime produces a bonus. 100% it's for hydro, and coco is basically hydro. I'd say yes all the way, Soil, as mentioned, has it already

Hey@Dank, I don't have neem meal but did a guick Google a few weeks ago and it is availible but very expensive and small quantities. It's my second run in this soil so it's not hot, only feed a little of this and that and feed microbes, they will sort the plants out Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk

Tall nicely trained one is the Bubbleberry. Shorter stockier is the Bubba Kush, and the the flowering small one is the Dark Devil. + pic of all of them in the grow area.

You know I'll keep males alive for you. I'll keep females going for you as well if space really is an issue

A group pheno hunt? Like with some of your friends who also grow? I feel it's a good idea, it also makes it easier to keep specific phenos as each person can keep a mother plant.

@Teal Smith what up bro. I was too tired to stay up for this chat. My last 2c. The pure sign wave inverters are the better option. But also a pricier option. I went with a sign wave inverter. After a mate of mine had been using the sMe 1 for over a year. Its a good quality 1 from outdoor warehouse. Was about 2k 1000w. U can get cheaper 1z. But i would stay away from anything under 2k. For quality reasons. If u really wana get bang for your buck. The inverter system is a very simple system to wire up your self. Its liyerally 2 wires from battery to inverter. Yes u might not get 1 that looks as neat and put together as the mercer unit. But the functionality is what matters. N u know exactly what components u using. U could even get urself an enclosure and work with that. Thats what i did. See below. My system was bought for entertainment purposes only and not for growing. So its a small system. I get about 4 hours. To run my tv. Wifi. Playstation. Couple of lights. Even though its not a pure sign wave. It functions well and never had issues for the last 4 months. My mate is pushing on 2 years now with no issues. Also by building this thing myself. I got 250w more power and saved about R1500. If u wana do it uself. Im sure we would be more then happy to help out. Its really a simple thing bro. Side note. If i wana use more power or if i wana use shit for a longer period of time. I would just add another battery.

As long as they veg, give them all 2 weeks a copper soap spray, keeps PM at bay. For flower... i repeat myself, sorry guys.. get some Serenade garden disease control... would also make the copper soap obsolete... and Serenade easy to use while flowering. Leaves no taste behind on the smoke

What do you guys suggest is the best way to keep keper Phenotypes going? I have several keepers that I would like to keep but just dont have the space to keep them all. And with all this american genetics coming to SA you have to try all the new stuff. Then you plant 10 regs to find a keeper female and it takes 4~6 months to find her? You end up growing say 5 females sometimes more. Do you guys think starting a group pheno hunt would be a good idea?

Whats happening Evan :) great suggestion on the silica. Would this stuff work in a coco substrate? Just add to the other nutes? I'm using Atami's High Porosity Coco and fabric pots. Your grow is looking so goooooooooood man... Those thick stems!!!!

Need to add that the humidity is hectic and the Sonof kicks in alot, lights on from 13:00 - 1:00 so with the fan running my lights of temps has gone done to 15 a few nights. I now reajust the humidity just before I go to sleep and then again when lights come on. Also moved lights on from 12:00 - 13:00 and will do that once a week till I get to 18:00 to kick in. So ones a week they have a 13 hr dark cycle and 11 light on cycle, let's hope it works out Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk

Looking goood @GGG Just caught the bit abojt the neem meal, its good to use in soil, didnt know it was available in SA. Jamies shop i guess? I would still wait for soil to cool down like most ammendents, Clackamas runs most things through his worm bins, he doesnt ammend soil directly.

Blazer my man, thank you for your message ;). This thread has become long but in there somewhere it's been decided that I'll definitely go with a pure sine wave inverter, and the correct batteries to suit. I'm running autos, so for now the lighting won't be that much of an issue. The main thing tripping me up from the beginning was that I never knew autos could handle many hours of darkness multiple times a day. I was worried about them becoming hermies but I've found out that won't be the case. I'll keep the whole system running 24/7 during load shedding, and use each load-shed as my dark cycle/s. In the meantime, I'll be using my smaller inverter, that I already own for my TV and entertainment system, to run the fans only during power cuts. This is to avoid PM as I live by the coast. I'm also going with SOG so ventilation shouldn't give problems when there's no light. We'll be saving up for a bigger, more suitable PSW inverter for the near future. So we're good to go! Hey hey, its going thanks My auto got destroyed by the cat in its early days, so I had to plant another. This threw my timing off for the 2 photos I was running at the same time. Fast forward to today and the Auto is almost done but definitely struggled with the cold and lack of light between 3 plants >> not doing that again . BUT she has some beautiful looking bud, even though there is not much there. (I will attach pics). Then my Bubba Kush and Bubbleberry are rocketing!! The Bubbleberry is one of the most perfectly trained plants I have done and they are both primed and ready to flower. I have switched to 12/12 as of a week ago. (will attach some pics too). So they are going to be monsters. I could basically just fill the tent with the Bubbleberry, but I am going to try and keep both in. Else I might boot the Bubba Kush to the outside. Loadshedding has of course messed me around. And then this week, I changed a setting on one of my switches, and this, with the power coming back on, started the heater cycle (but it was in the dark period). So a 'red element' heater going on and off every 15mins or so has no doubt hurt them for the few hours it was going. But I hope it has no lasting effect. Time will tell. Thanks man! Some solid tips there. Issue I have been facing is that the garage is just too cold..eish. All the air is cold but the heater has been working. Looking forward to summer though!

So the magic is happening... The pots are prepared and I hope to have em beans in there by tomorrow morning. Good weather currently and I think it would be awesome if I have taproots this eavening.. let's hope..

So i tried taking pics with my Huawei P20. Hope these are clear enough. Alot of leaves truned yellow overnight, this first growth really turning out horrible. @StickyD420 hope these help

@Prom I was thinking of running mine on 20/4 (or as close to that as I can get with being load shat). And there was no noticeable signs of stress at all with 24/0? I've heard of dudes doing that but many said it's not recommended... With load shedding that won't be a problem though ;) Maybe then I should just leave the lights and fans on permanently, using Eskom's load-shedding as the dark cycle/s every day.... What you think of that?

I asked a lady at the chem labs shop, why her unit was standing here at the counter and not hooked up, to which she replied, the thing exploded and acid was all the living room and the place, a computer shop, very reputable, had obviously sold it with the cheapest batteries they could find, and that was the outcome, Not to say your would have the same, you need to check that your side. Brother, I'm here to help, and it may not always seem so by my directness, but it's from experience and lessons I've learned.

Nope, if eskom would even shedd 10 hours a day for the full plant cycle, autos would finish with no stress at all. They come from the high north, with extremely short day light times. Reason they stopped using the sun as indicator, the more the better... but you cant accidental get flowering in early stages with outages. They still veg even in 5 hours light and follow their inturnal timer

That has the decor in, have opened it before and you normally get the cheapest of cheap, Chinese batteries in it, as you cant see them Again, I'm not the guy here, but I'd think so, and can be wrong.

So the ladies are into the new tent. Mammoth 2.4x2.4 thanks to @GGG. Struggling to get all the spacing sorted but will get there. Still trimming the.last ones. Final weights not what I wanted. The old fabric pots dry out way to fast. May need to do multiple waterings a day. But for now i have wrapped the fabric pots in cling film to prevent them from drying out to quickly. Lets see what happens.

The defoliation seems endless. These girls always bounce back so quick though. Starting to see some preflower beginning to form. I donked up a bit and one branch seems to be competing more than the rest on one plant. The rest are coming out pretty sweet. I don't really feel the need to attempt further LST on the rogue branch. The stems are super strong as intended so I'll take that over a perfect flat canapoy. The SCRoG net will sort that out in future. Otherwise the outside plant is doing swell as well. Week 13. 4th week of 12/12. Everything seems to have settled down now. I've stopped taking my plants out for their daily vitamin D under the sun rays. I think that was my leaf problems. Warm in the sun but there was still an icy chill in the breeze. One week under the light and they are looking much better bar a few small leaves at the base of the plants which I'm putting down to the light not reaching them. Busy germinating Durban Poison and Elvis at the moment using the paper towel method but it seems to be taking a long time compared to when I just popped them into seedling trays with soil so I've popped more into soil at the back of the cabinet. Some better pics of the mainline structures. just for @afternoon blazer these girls are beefy and the structure should be able to hold any sized colas they can develop, unless I get some freaks of nature that is.. we can only hope. I think I will be flipping tomorrow and throwing in the daddy 400W HPS bulbs. Also good to note, everything up until now has been under 250W MH bulbs (minus the soil plants of course, strictly speaking the mainlined plants). So you could comfortably grow 2 plants and mainline both of them under a single 250W for veg. This was secretly a little test I wanted to conduct to see if one could do it and I think the 250W bulbs get a bad rep, but if it's all you got for veg, I'd have to say don't stress

Think I've trimmed to the structure that I want the plants to grow in. Rate I am going to let them recover from the trimming and then start the flip.

Nice start to the thread brother, Congratulations on the new tent, it must be so nice having something that size and with 4 corners for the scrog net, I am so excited for your next posts, and fully understand where you coming from with the situation you in, as also upgraded lights and had to make plan with plants and such. Not easy but sure you got this and next run you going to be on tops with, I just know.
