So this little tree... I gave her the first topping when she needed it, and let her grow out a bit. One side grew fine but the other just split into 2 by itself. I let her grow out untouched because I just was being a bit lazy and I decided that I wanted more colas this run, not just a nice mainline. Here's what she looks like right now; The cure will be done in about 5 days so I'll get some nice bud shots for you guys then.

Well well... I was beginning to stress but I have soil movement on 3 pots and one little one showed face... Here we go... @Bay Seeds seems as if the test is on its way.. Some colder weather forecast for the next few days so the babies will stay indoors to ensure they don't get stunted.. I will be moving them to a greenhouse soon.

I see what you mean here and I've seen guys growing DWC and really doing some amazing stuff, no doubt about that. The reason why I wana grow organic is because it will stand the test of time. It is the knowledge that comes with it that I desire. I want to know about microbes, bacteria and nematodes and all the other living things. I believe, even though being not so skilled, I'll get there faster if I take the right steps. I've got some background with synthetic nutes, not only with cannabis. I feel at the end of the day the best for me is going to be to plant straight into the earth and growing organic will add to the knowledge one needs when cooking up some nice living soils. Creating your own mediums and amendments is what it's all about, for me.

About another week then I'll do a final transplant and move them into 12/12. I had to stop feeding the Gelatos to get the clones to catch up so they are a bit hungry, but feeding has resumed.

This is on my bucket list, once I finish all my biobizz nutes. My mind is blown every time someone lifts the lid for a pic of the roots. Crazy growth

Thanks bud, really appreciate it. Yeah the colours are crazy. Will definitely be trying her again at some point to see if I can get some better bud growth. So if you look at the 2 diary links I posted for the photos you will get the idea. But I followed 2 slightly different approaches. 1. I basically topped and then pulled down branches in hope the lower node would catch up, which it did. Then the lower node, on that (lower) node also grew up, whilsts I kept pulling down the uppermost node. So thats where I got the odd shape, but she is relatively flat. 2. The Bubbleberry. >> https://growdiaries.com/diaries/61754-bubbleberry-totemic-genetics-grow-journal-by-live-canna This lady I topped, and then pulled the first two growths (once grown a bit) flat as if I was basically mainlining her, but without the sticks on the actual branches. So purely by LST. Then all the lower nodes on those 2 main branches starting shooting up and I topped those again creating more branches and every time pulling down. Then at some point I basically let go, and let them rise up to create the shape she is now. You can see this all quite clearly in the grow diary. Let me know if that makes sense. Happy to help with what I have learnt so far in my first proper grow. I must say though, I feel like what I did to the Bubbleberry worked a lot better. But this is all plant and strain dependent also. The bubbleberry is IMO definitely more on the Sativa side, while the Bubba Kush is more indica dominent.

Used to use ''orange'' fruit net bags, stockings also worked well. Moved away from the ''teabag'' method now. I add the ''teabag'' ingredients to a bucket add water and mix/steep and then strain. Then add the strained ''tea'' water to my brewer, but thats only because I prefer to use an aquarium water pump for agitation. Don't want any solids/pieces in my mix. Principals are the same with different method.

Thanks for your response Not on all the plant...just the ones closest to the fan. The others, if they have, has minimal damage. I have had those containers laying on the ground full of water but not with a fan on...will give that a go. As to my tent setup, I am running in a 1.5m x 1.5m tent with a 300mm scrubber with a 6inch inline fan. Currently only two of the 4 fans are on (one on LED & one on the ground, a little bit elevated now), I figured I will switch on as the grow progress.

We will have to see the trichomes first to be sure, but looks close though... You want the plant to die as it ends its flower, will make beautiful taste and flavor.

Update- Day 18 for the girls and have transplanted them into their 10l bags , master kush which I was concerned wasn’t going to make it is now looking the best out of the bunch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi everyone. First grow, a lot to learn. Planted three bag seed Durban Poison seeds, and one Gorilla Glue from CB Seeds. Planted them in the garage, made a small space available that will be extended later on. Had no heating source, so the little guys were severely stunted early on due to cold. Soil used - Freedom Farms. Lighting is a King Led 1000 watt. Reflective Material is a panel with emergency blanket glued on, and an emergency blanket glued to the wall. Going to close the other sides later on. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Pics below, please comment on plant health. I have not used any nutrients yet, planning to use Biobizz Grow when the plants are a bit bigger, and Bloom later on. Will the early cold and stunting cause hermies? Diary. Glass 29 July 2020. Paper Towel 31 July 2020. Started Germinating 02 August 2020. Prepped soil 02 August 2020. Planted in soil 04 August 2020. Planted Gorilla Glue but damaged the taproot. Lesson learned. Switched light on 04 August 2020. 24 hour cycle. First two breaks soil, both Durban Poison 09 August 2020. Gorilla Glue with broken taproot breaks soil 11 August 2020. Still on 24 hour cycle. Changed to 18/6 12 August 2020. Fourth one breaks soil. Durban Poison 13 August 2020. Pictures are from today 25 August. Plants only starting to put on some weight now due to warmer weather.

So with enough time to spare I'm squeezing in a regular seed run. Clones are doing their thing in veg. Still waiting on a clone or 2 to reach size for a transplant and another 3 or 4 weeks veg. Females in the tent: Slurricane, Blunicorn, Ghost train haze #1, Green Crack, Chocolope NL x Gelato #33, Orange Kush Cake, Male: It was a toss up between a chocolope NL or GTH male originally, but the gelato cross males are really interesting me right now. Thanks bud! Agreed, it is definitely getting warmer! Yeah, I am looking at getting a 75W V2 from Grow Opz as soon as the funds allow, and that will also help, as my light is not the best. But I am going to run with it for now. Also now that it is getting warmer, I will be able to remove the heater soon and then I will have more space without worrying about burning the plants (literally).

If she's outside I would say more than 2 weeks still.

drying is removing all easy accessible leaves, cut the plant and hang her upside down in a room with about 55% humidity... and wait till the small branches crack on bend. The longer it needs to dry.. the better... with higher risks of mold. Is always a down side if it is dry before 5 days passed, you get a hay smell and taste. Post a pic with those dead leaves removed, might look a lot friendlier

They are quite striking hey. Have a few buds curing quitely....but believe curiosity may warrant an early taste test...hahaha.

Will grow a selection of the F1 gen of the Purple Pines to check germing rates and vigour. The first beans germed on the plant due to wet rainy weather. They still very fresh - will dry/cure the beans for a 2/3 weeks to negate the effect of the blocking enzymes. Don't mind sharing a selected amount of beans to interested forum members. The name was just too long..... the shorter version has a nice ring to it.

Thanks a lot. I will definitely start in smaller pots next time. Watering is difficult yes. Just glad the warmer weather is helping them now.

Hi @silverdelange, the plants look happy and healthy to me. I see you've put them straight into quite big pots. I would have chosen a smaller pot for the first stages of growth. Watering can be a bit tricky when starting with bigger pots, so be careful when watering as it's easy to overwater. Other than that I think you should be fine. I'm an outdoor grower, so can't tell you much about lights but 1000 watts is plenty. Happy growing

Hope everyones doing great! I have a few things on my plate right now and too many things keeping me from reaching that desired budget to buy everything I want. Taking things slow, step by step and trying not to do anything by force, will get where I wana be sooner or later! For the time being, since my first DIY grow cupboard, I've always been collecting all sorts of parts and materials to use for a grow, as they happen upon my way. Just for in case, you know? I took cuttings from the plants I'm running in the tent at the moment, had them sitting in some jiffies in a humidity dome on a heat mat under a CFL. Did manage to get some roots within 15 days!!! Was quite happy about it, but the fucking heat of the CFLs burnt the leaves crispy brown. My mind and money is set on my DIY 300w QB with some samsung strips, then gona use the Apollo 8 blurple I have now for veg only. Didn't wana spend much, or anything really, but the CFLs had to go!!! Just to replace them I got one of those flood lights I'm reading about on the forum, checked out all the places around me that sells any kinda light, best I could find was a 50w, 3200Lumens, 6500Kelvin. For R530 with a 2 year warrenty and it's literally built for outdoors so can hose them down if I ever felt like it. I was lucky enough to happen upon a huge lump of reflective material. a Few pallet loads of chemicals that needed to be kept cool was shipped wrapped in diamond mylar. Literally feels the same as the material of the mars tents with the little square patterns. Thick, almost stays in the shape you bend it. I even have a hard time cutting it as it seems to have a bit of wire in it too, to make the square pattern. I obviously took all of it, because it was free and was going to get recycled anyway. On the farm we have quite a few "scrap materials" laying around. I asked boss man if I could have 2 x 5m wooden battons that are 2cmx2cm square. They cost like R60 a pole I think, but I got them free. I bought softwood cupboard panels, you get the one that's smooth matte white one side and rough wood brown on the other side then there's a smooth wood and rough wood sided ones. I already had my reflective material I went with the both sides wooden, because it was a little cheaper, but I'm sure you could use the white ones and skip on the reflective material and get the same results. I payed R155 for a 2m x 3m "sheet". Picked up the bigger version of the Hydor bathroom extractor for R400 quite a while ago. Had a small desk fan laying around, also a thermometer and hygrometer so didn't have to buy those. Odds - roll of ducktape, wood glue, pack of screws, 1 x ladies stockings, 2 of the smallest door hinges, pack of smallest screw-in hooks, 3mm x 2m chain, 5m wire and plug for light. Started with the 10m wood, cut 8 x 70cm pieces and 4 x 100cm pieces. Using my handy dandy wood glue and screws, I made 2 x 70cm squares with the 8 pieces and used the 4 x 100cm to mount the squares onto. So the space is 70x70x100. Quite alright for veg. Using the ductape I covered the softwood board with the reflective and stuck them to the wood frame, again using the glue then some screws. (The glue alsp helps fill gaps for light leaks) I used the blade from a metal saw with the fine teeth to cut squares in the bottom of the wood pannel for passive air intakes and I made a circle where the extractor fan is fitted. Extractor aswell as the passive intakes are covered with the ladies stockings, again using the ductape. Inside the passive intakes I cut an extra piece of mylar just to hang over the stockings to help with light leaking in there during lights off. I screwed 2 of the hooks in the top wood beams, hooked the chain from side to side, hung the light and plugged the whole bitch up! Basically a glorified propagation box. Here she is: Top right corner black circle is the stockings covered mouth of the extractor fitted with a ducting that links into the ducting from my other tent, this box thing stands next to my tent. Here is one of the passive intakes, to understand "the flap" a bit better. Also a close up of the reflective material. I planted the best 4 cuttings into their first pots. This is their home now untill flower time. I believe once I do get another tent I'll still keep this bad boy for further seed pops and maybe build a nice bubble cloner to fit. Happy growing!

@afternoon blazer yo man. Happy to give an update. I ran the full flux mainline on 2 ladies but due to insane growth of one lady I had to flip to flower earlier than I thought. Today is the end of week 3 since the flip to flower. I will also be able to tie down a bit better for a more broader and even canopy spread next time round. This is my 1st indoor grow so I learnt a lot through the process. The ladies grow so vigorously that they will yank stakes from the ground in order to grow vertical again, so a proper tie down without damaging the stem is crucial for the nice horizontal mainline. Comparing my organic grow vs my now "synthetic" grows, I feel the organic was slower and costlier and the difference with taste was not there unlike what people said. I am of the opinion that organic is more of a marketing thing, the companies make more money off of it. You can still pull great yields from it though. Chances are your light is letting you down a bit and then possibly environment and/or training. Training makes a big difference and effectively using the space as best as possible. It is easier to achieve 100g from 2 plants than it is from a single plant. It is also quicker to grow 2 smaller plants than a single BIG plant. There are pros and cons, you gotta find what suits you and works best for you. Scrog is cool, but once again takes more time. More time = more electricity, more nutes and end of the day how much better is your final yield? This is if we start talking efficiencies, which some people do not care about - some just want to do it the way they want to do it and nothing wrong with that. Organic, to me, only makes sense if you're at the point where you are not feeding any nutes, just giving water and perhaps a few amendments here and there and that is what you want to do and how you want to grow. Sort of like most outdoor grows I guess, just indoors. Organic where you are feeding nutes, for what? For why?
