Day 22 of flower! These girls are having a treat, I'm amazed with how they are growing in the 2nd run in the FF Custom Crafted Soil! This week they had there usual Microbe, Fire Juice feedings and I introduced then to Dirtyhandsinc products. Yesterday was there 21st Bday and I gave then 2kg Dry Ice resting in front of the oscillating fan [emoji28] ( I was close to the factory so thought why not) and pushed temps up from avg of 25 to 28. So far I'm happy and looks like I might get just over 1g/w, 1,5 g/w would be nice [emoji23]. Did a defol on Wednesday and cleaned up beneath the net. What do you guys think of the reused soil run? yeah, and getting to know your plants. The more I grow a specific strain, the more intuitive my interactions become. you get to a point where you give your plants one look and know just what they want.3 points

Gold [emoji1362] If you know how to treat your medium, you shouldn't experience any issues. For instance, a new Grower may want to monitor everything, and be comfortable choosing coco and watering every day - but another new Grower may not be able to water every day... It's just 1 example but I'm sure people can understand the gist of what I'm trying to say. If the person takes the time to learn about what they want to use, any medium is beginner friendly... With the exception of hydroponics being a bit more advanced I feel. Sent from my POCOPHONE F1 using Tapatalk2 points

All in all, even though coco will teach you exactly what's going into your plant, etc... IMO soil is more beginner friendly and far more forgiving if you forget something or get something slightly off - I'll always suggest it to newbies. There are a number of reasons for this but I'm typing this on my phone with the few minutes I have, lol. Just wanted to drop in my 2c. Sent from my POCOPHONE F1 using Tapatalk2 points

I dont think soil as the ''easiest'' medium by a long shot, but you have to learn and get to know your medium- whichever one you choose, its part of the learning curve. Some growers struggle with soil, if you dont respect the parameters of your medium you can get it wrong quite easily. To make a good soil is quite a process and a number of ''retailers'' offer some good options for ''buy in bag'' which is a easy starting point for new growers. I like to know what I'm working with and I enjoy mixing my own soil. On the surface it may look straightforward, but the rabbit hole goes much deeper than you think.2 points

I totally agree with this statement @PsyCLown. At least when it comes to mixing the soil yourself. On the other hand starting to grow with some good premixed soil like for example FF soil plus using the biobizz range is pretty much fool proof (if you stick to the feeding table). Beginner growers tend to try and invent a new wheel instead of sticking to proven grow technics. Or they try to safe and buy crappy soil from the nursery around the corner. IMO these are big contributing factors why some beginners struggle with their soil grow.2 points

Any ideas of what this pest is ? , I’m guessing pupae of moths , but any suggestions ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Good on you for cathing them early, makes a huge difference. Margaret Roberts also does a good organic spray- it's a bacterial innoculant that disrupts the worms digestive system.1 point

Went out and bought some biogrow neem oil and gave them a spray now Going to keep the spraying weekly as a good preventive aswell as my tent is outdoors Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

A lot of good opinions in the thread Pros and cons to both, coco maybe less so with mostly buffering being a major block for some new growers. I think this is spot on, most newbs fail because of eagerness, too amped, te veel geees. Whichever medium chosen the grower (not just newbs) should always educate themselves as best possible, be diligent with your grow and try to think ahead. A lot of the time when you see a issue its prob something that happened a week ago1 point

@SkunkPharmThink its a good idea, believe many new growers would benefit from such a thread. Easy and manageble way to start your journey down the cannabis growing rabbit hole. An inexpensive way to get their toes wet, without the complexities and technical equipment of dwc and coco. They can grow their first plants and there after decide where they want to take it- soil, dwc or coco.1 point

Whoop, electricity is back at my place. Unfortunately I'm still struggling a little to get temps right.. Temperature in my garage was hitting 27 deg today at midday. It hits above 30 easily with lights on. I'm just going to leave the door open while lights are on for the rest of the grow, or until I can find a solution.1 point

Genetics: In House Genetics - Sugar Cane x2 (Slurricane x Platinum) In House Genetics - Bananium (Banana OG x Platinum) Ethos - Banana Daddy (GDP x Banana Hammock) Ethos - Mandarin Cookies (Forum Cut Cookies x Mandarin Sunset) Ethos - Orange Kush Cake (Wedding Cake x Jilly Bean) x (Sour Tangie x Rozé Zkittlez x OG Eddy Lepp) Ethos - Glue (GG4 x (Ethos Kush IBL x GG4) x GG4) Mosca - Alien Wedding (Wedding Crasher x Fire Alien White) DNA - Holy Grail Kush (Kosher Kush x OG18) DNA - Strawberry Banana (Banana Kush x Bubblegum) Humboldt - Green Crack Humboldt - Gorilla Breath (Original Glue x OGKB) Setup: Seedlings = 110W COB in 80x80, Veg = 240W Quantum Board in 120x120, Flower = 480W Quantum Board in 120x120 2x 6" Extractor 10L and 15L pots Nutrients and Soil: Freedom Farms Classic Soil BioBizz Grow Freedom Farm's Kelp Freedom Farm's Fire Juice Wurmbosch Worm Castings BioBizz Bloom _______________________________________________________________ Germination & Week 1 The germination was done in paper towels with open ziplock bags for humidity retention, as well as inside of a humidity dome on a heat mat. Had a 100% germination rate on these beans. ____________________________________________________________ Week 2 Veg Week 2 was going alright, though I was a bit light on the watering which resulted in some slowed root growth. All girls were looking decent except for the Ethos Glue which revealed itself as a runt early on. Was later removed from the tent during mid veg. Kept them under a heat mat for a while since temperatures were a bit low. ____________________________________________________________ Week 3 Veg Transplanted into slightly larger pots with some Mycoroot. Roots took hold during this period and the plants started to look much better, split picture below is a 5 day difference after transplant. Still only giving water at this stage, pH to 6.3. __________________________________________________________________ Week 4 Veg They were looking better in week 4, though still recovering a bit from the slow root growth in the second week. However they were definitely speeding up, with the Mandarin Cookies pictured below taking the early lead in appearance. ___________________________________________________________________ Week 5 Veg I started to give them the first feed in week 5, providing them with 1/3 strength Kelp, as they weren't showing any real defs at this stage and wanted to just give them something for the following week. It was also at this time that I did a bit of a late topping to the girls. _________________________________________________________ Week 6/7 Veg Week 6 of veg and the plants were moved into the 1.2x1.2m tent under 240W of QB. Feeding them once a week during this period with 1/4 dose BioBizz Grow and 1/6 strength Kelp. _____________________________________________ Week 7 Veg Week 7 I gave them a feed of Worm Castings, but noticed that none of the plants were very hungry and a once a week feed was seeming more than enough. Pictured below is the Alien Wedding by Mosca. _____________________________________________________________________________ Week 8 Veg In week 8, I took cuts of the girls. Pictured is one of the Sugar Cane cuts after 6 days in EasyPlugs. ___________________________________________________________ Week 1/2 of Flower This was a few days ago now, I am currently into the second week of 12/12 and the plants are starting to show clusters of pistils. The stretch on the Green Crack and Orange Kush Cake is unbelievable and I had to tie them down just before flipping to promote some hormones to the lower nodes. Pictured below, in order - Mandarin Cookies, Green Crack, Alien Wedding and Sugar Cane Will update this thread as the plants progress through flower.1 point

Cheers brother. I don't have mother space myself but I gave out a few cuts to friends who will hopefully keep her genes alive - I know at least one is keeping a mother. In total my run weights were as follows: Alien Wedding: 30g Orange Kush Cake: 39g Sugar Cane #1: 43g Bananium: 26g Gorilla Breath: 25g Strawberry Banana: 50g Green Crack: 20g Sugar Cane #2: 23g Mandarin Cookies: 33g Holy Grail Kush: 25g+- Orange Kush Cake ^ Bananium ^ Sugar Cane #1 ^1 point

Nearing the end of week 5 now (day 32) and they are definitely bulking nicely now. The Alien Wedding is still maturing much faster than the others, while the Sugar Cane and Orange Kush Cake remain the favourites in terms of trichome production. Strawberry Banana is starting to add some weight now, but I have got some issues with the Holy Grail Kush, showing some nute burn and just general weak genetics, leaves aren't very strong and it doesn't take up much water, the rooting may not be great on it. Here's the Alien Wedding, Sugar Cane and Orange Kush Cake (shot with a flash this time)1 point
