  1. Went out to the farm again today. All the chocos are kicking into reveg mode. These are going to be monstrous. They are starting the season with stems thicker than my thumb. There is this one pheno though that is going to carry the F5 generation.

  2. Interesting read. I dont work with autos. It's actually one of the traits I select against. To me, this plant can reveg, so it's not an auto. Its photoperiod. Just because it's a recessive auto, does not give it a place as an auto. We cant start using our recessive traits as marketing points. They are recessive as in do not express, so the consumer will never come across them in his/her plants. Work the next generation and get that auto trait to dominate then you can call it an auto. Only once a plant flowers in 24/7 is it an auto imo.

  3. It's awesome to have good genes bred in our local environment. These are going to be sought after.. As a Outdoor grower especially..

  4. @Bakstein420, ah man that sucks! Hope the remaining plant will do it's best to compensate for the loss. I agree with @afternoon blazer. Also love autos. I find they have their place in cultivation but I guess they aren't the best choice for everyone. I prefer variety over quantity. Plus as an outdoor grower I can enjoy the fun of harvest several times a year. But yeah they are more finicky than their bigger photo-sisters. I'm going to germinate mine soon. T-3 days. Oh one big upside for me is that in the Cape PM only comes towards the end of the season. It's good to have some bud save in the jars before 'PM season' starts.

  6. So I decided to grow some autos outdoors to replenish my stash while I mainline the Ethos ladies. I grabbed a 5 pack of Fastbud's C4 but lost 4 of the seedlings to heavy winds. The remaining survivor went in the cupboard to help her get established before facing the outdoor forces. I slowly introduced her to life beyond the wall till she started pushing pistils recently.

  9. Looks good, I assume you've gone up to 2ml/L now? You could slowly start to increase to 3ml and then shortly after 4ml - I found no need to go above 4ml/L during veg - but that was with fish mix. During stretch (so from when you flip the plants to flower) you can run a low dose of grow and then start introducing bloom. You then stop the grow completely after 3 weeks and run just bloom until harvest. You will always use way more bloom than grow or fish mix.

  10. You can buy ladybugs, but not sure you can do so in SA. You can get swarskimites though, they're predatory mites and will eat some pests.

  11. Yeah bro . As mentioned above theres many variants to consider. But remember to get a good wet dry cycle going to allow the roots to travel for water. Better to under feed then over feed.

  12. What up bro @Bakstein420. loosing 4 out of 5 must feel like a kick in the nuts. Especially since u got some fire genetics. . But the 1 lady looks good bro. Atleast the colour is starting to push through too. @DamDave autos do get abit of a bad rep. But i personally love those things. Its too simple and easy to grow. Especially since all u gota do is feed. Yield might be on the low side. But then i just run multiple plants.

  13. Yeh 100%, well said, i forgot to add that the market for Autos was created under the 24/0 schedule back in the day. (That was the main hype) As soon as it can veg at 24/0 hours there will be growers in the market saying its not a Auto. Any Fastbuds strain can be grown at 24/0 without issues, in my mind that is a Auto.

  14. please elaborate on this.. i am of the opinion that an auto is an auto and will not react to the hours of light it gets... it sprouts, it flowers, it dies.

  15. Hi everybody these are our 2 new males for 2020. Lemon jedi OG by Dark Horse Genetics. Bought 10 Regular seeds. Only 5 germinated. Collecting the pollen daily. The 3 girls in the 60L are the 3 females.

  16. All part of the learning curve. I dont think it ever stops. Autos are actually a good place to learn from your plants, as you have a few extra visually confirmable traits to select from. Working with the same lines you really get to know what a parent can add or take away from the progeny after a while. Once you get to the next generation you get more choice as previously recessive traits start showing up as dominant. How much stress testing do you do on your plants? I for example run 24/7 veg to root out autos from my populations. Youd most certainly need to run and test different veg cycles, as I'm sure you'll find plants on a scale... ie they might veg in 20/4, but flower trigger at 14 hours etc.

  18. Boveda packs are awesome and surely the way to go as far as I am concerned. I do not feel they are very expensive, considering how long they last. I have purchased a few boveda packs and some are over 2 years old and still good. Have not dried up yet. Gone through a few harvests. There are ways to rehydrate them too I believe, I have yet to try this but worth a shot to see if you can squeeze some extra life out of your Boveda pack. The Boveda's are a small price to pay to ensure a quality cure, why ruin your entire grow and all the time and effort spent by cheaping out and not getting a few boveda packs? Both the 62% and 58% work really well. I prefer 58% for my vape, but 62% keeps the bud moist for longer obviously. So you can use a combination depending on your needs and what you plan on smoking first - personal preference too. I know some prefer 62% for smoking but for vaping I really do feel 58% works a bit better.

  24. Definitely agree. These stones are to keep tobacco moist. As a former rollie tobacco smoker, I surely would have benefitted from one of those stones; although I always managed to smoke my tobacco before it got too dry. I wouldn't ever suggest one of these stones for curing. Rather stick with Boveda packs. Stay away from those jutt Integra kak humidty packs. Those red-dot humidity indicators are poisonous.

  26. Hey buds, all well I hope. I'm busy with my first auto grow and have been doing a lot of reading up on them. Seems auto's have a bit of a bad rap and not experienced grower's first choice. What is the reasoning. Is it the lazy grower's choice, because they don't produce a good yield. Trying to learn a bit more about strain's and the plant in general. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk

  28. I harvested the one outdoor Skywalker OG today. I discovered aphids doing their thing on some of the bottom buds. Luckily I had already let the medium dry out and had completed a 48 hour dark cycle as I was planning on harvesting it today anyways. Performed ye olde bud wash for the first time. Didn't feel to weird to do, especially knowing those aphids were about to eat schit.

  30. Yeah both are definitely ladybugs so no need to worry there, they like the king of bugmunchers so If these critters aren't already in abundance id suggest planting a few companion plants nearby to encourage more of them that way you'll dont have to worry about bugs infesting your grow/munching leaves as they'll clear out anything smaller than themselves - Indoor growers with spider mites commonly let these guys loose in growroom

  31. @swum Its clearly marked F1. Call it an recessive auto if you want too.

  32. Guys dont get me wrong im not saying its impossible, just a paradox when u have a revegging Auto. Nature is crazy and not a lot of research done on this stuff. Perhaps as @swum mentioned this where the "fast" classification can be used.

  33. Thats flowering times bud, they still list them as feminized or auto.
    1 point
  34. Any auto can reveg under the right conditions. Not flushing out all the nutrients during the last weeks of flowering leaving the plant weak. Not harvesting the buds but only carefully picking out the seeds.

  35. yea i get that you are talking about Auto trait. and depending which trait is dominant is the way the offspring will turn out. If the Auto gene is dominant over the photo gene you could experience 75% auto and 25% photo in F1, from there you select the best male that flowers under 24h and the best female that flowers under 24h, mix em , and if you chose the right autos with the dominant gene and not recessive gene, then your ratio could improve to something like 93% auto and 7% photo in F2. so you are right in saying you would need to get to atleast F3 before you could reach your 99% Auto outcome. i was just disputing crossing a photo and auto result in only photo offspring
    1 point
  36. @swum, not necessarily, even F2 reg Auto seeds will be subject to different phenotypes. it also depends on so much. was it an auto male that you pollinated a photo fem? or was it a photo male that pollinated an auto fem? depending which of the plants has the most dominant traits will depend on what traits the offspring gravitate towards. and what you are referring to is called Hybrid Vigor... most bagseed tend to express rapid healthy growth and are known to have this vigor. well bred plants from reputable breeders also exhibit this trait, but it does not often express itself in later generations starting from F3. successful back crossing with the original parents can often bring back this trait in your offspring.

  37. Thanks guys. There is no damage yet. The bigger ones looked a lot like the 7 spotted ladybird. Will keep an eye on them. Thanks a lot.

  38. i agree with @Dank it looks to me like some sort or lady bug, maybe one still developing its colours. At any rate, if its not making visible kak... then leave it be, it might be chowing the bugs that do cause kak

  39. Any pictures of the bigger ones, also how big, similiar to a ladybird? I think it could be part of the ladybug family, i would vote friend if there is no damage.

  41. The Banana Monkey Autoflower is coming along. Not every day you see a revegging auto motherplant that gave hundreds of seeds is standing next to her children. The sick little one in the front is a rescue attempt '' Royal ak''. Had a soil ph of 4.3 when i got her.

  43. Another week another update. Plants are doing well. I hope to see the sex in the coming days. Started with Biobizz Biogrow today. I am somewhat cautious on how much to use. Some say 2ml, others say 1ml per litre. Sticking to 1ml per litre for now. I welcome any advice on this.

  44. Added some chopped up branches and woodchips around the side of the raised bed. This is mostly to help promote good fungal activity in the soil as the wood breaks down over time. It also helps to minimize evaporation. I added some well aged leaf compost again and tilled it over. I will keep the soil covered with cardboard from now on to maximize microbial activity.
