Scope We review evidence for a lunar involvement with plant growth. The evidence suggests that there may be continuous modulation of root elongation growth by the lunisolar tidal force. In order to provide further supportive evidence for a more general hypothesis of a lunisolar regulation of growth, we highlight similarly suggestive evidence from the time courses of (a) bean leaf movements obtained from kymographic observations; (b) dilatation cycles of tree stems obtained from dendrograms; and (c) the diurnal changes of wood–water relationships in a living tree obtained by reflectometry. Conclusions At present, the evidence for a lunar or a lunisolar influence on root growth or, indeed, on any other plant system, is correlative, and therefore circumstantial. Although it is not possible to alter the lunisolar gravitational force experienced by living organisms on Earth, it is possible to predict how this putative lunisolar influence will vary at times in the near future. This may offer ways of testing predictions about possible Moon–plant relationships. As for a hypothesis about how the three-body system of Earth–Sun–Moon could interact with biological systems to produce a specific growth response, this remains a challenge for the future. Plant growth responses are mainly brought about by differential movement of water across protoplasmic membranes in conjunction with water movement in the super-symplasm. It may be in this realm of water movements, or even in the physical forms which water adopts within cells, that the lunisolar tidal force has an impact upon living growth systems.

Grow Diary Update: Cocopopo Auto & Gelato Samba Auto (Bulk seed bank) - day 85 The Gelato Samba buds are appear to be much smaller and skinnier. Not sure if I messed up or if it's just the genetics. Should be a bit happier now under the new light.

@CreX has pretty much nailed it. 62% for long term storage, 58% for when you want to keep a small stash aside for you to smoke from. I personally prefer to have a hygrometer in each jar to ensure the RH is consistent, humidity can easily differ from jar to jar based on the density of the bud - even with the same strains and different phenos. Why risk ruining it due to high humidity and mold? With multiple strains it's even more likely, especially if the plants are harvested at different times. You will burp the jars if the bud wasn't dried enough and the RH spikes too high, the Boveda's may not pull the humidity down quick enough (or enough, in general). EDIT: I personally prefer to not over dry my bud, if the Bovedas need to increase the RH then I find it can affect the cure and the bud isn't as great as when the RH is spot on or the bovedas need to remove a bit of moisture. When done like this the cure seems to continue without issues and the weed ends up really good!

Boveda packs are awesome and surely the way to go as far as I am concerned. I do not feel they are very expensive, considering how long they last. I have purchased a few boveda packs and some are over 2 years old and still good. Have not dried up yet. Gone through a few harvests. There are ways to rehydrate them too I believe, I have yet to try this but worth a shot to see if you can squeeze some extra life out of your Boveda pack. The Boveda's are a small price to pay to ensure a quality cure, why ruin your entire grow and all the time and effort spent by cheaping out and not getting a few boveda packs? Both the 62% and 58% work really well. I prefer 58% for my vape, but 62% keeps the bud moist for longer obviously. So you can use a combination depending on your needs and what you plan on smoking first - personal preference too. I know some prefer 62% for smoking but for vaping I really do feel 58% works a bit better.

My goals are are potency, flavour and yield and my setup is as follows: Outdoor on my balcony Strains - all Dutch Passion and bought from Trophy Seeds. 2 x Auto Blueberry 1 x Auto Orange 1 x Auto Daquiri Lime Medium: Freedom Farms Premier Organic Mix - the green bag Pots - 7 gallon Grow Guru fabric pots Nutes: Full Biobizz Line All seeds were germinated using the cotton pad method. One of the Blueberries took some time to show a root and it's currently in it's pot. I'm still waiting for it to break soil. I'm just misting with water and I've added about 2,5 ml of coconut water to the mix. Day One - 27 September 2020 Cheers

Another little update: The biggest one in the small pot has showed its balls but the one in the 15lt pot has shown some pistols! I have no placed her inside the tent to see what she can do! Really excited to see what happen!

You don't want to over do it with the epsom salts, you can start using CalMag but it contains nitrogen as well. I feel you're better off using the Terra Aquatics nutes as it should contain a full range of nutrients and not just Calcium, Magnesium & Nitrogen like CalMag. Possibly best to start with a lighter dose of nutes and work your way up as you monitor the plant.

So you hit up a new resturant in town, and you order a beef burger. and when they bring it to you... the literal cow is still alive, the lettuce still has its roots on it... the cheese...dont get me started... now you thought, what the hell, i thought this was supposed to be a 5 star meal! you are irate... hungry... pissed off at the cook. you can all agree that by going to a 5 star restaurant, you are going to get what you paid for... the chef has been busy this whole time to grace you with something amazing...not something you could have got from around the corner. same with weed, just because you have a plant and know that if you prepare it well someone is going to really enjoy it. but if you dont take the time to prepare your harvest, trim those leaves, dry it carefully... have the measurements in place to control your product, it really wont be as good as you would like it, and may even get your hopes down. curing your weed is probably more important than the growing of your weed, and the correct tools must be had regardless of the size of your grow.

I just want to weigh in with some of my own experience. Boveda packs are the shit. I have the 58 and the 62. I use them in glass jars. Cured weed. I use 58 and for curing and storage i use the 62. I put my dried harvest into jars on sunday with the 62 and into a dark draw. (The weed was extremely dry) this morning i did a quick check. And the buds are so much more hydrated and feels alot better. Also with the bovedas and the glass jars. Theres no need to burp or monitor. Just pot them in and leave them alone.

just in general 62% is kak to work with unless you bong a head whole. its just too moist to grind up nicely, it is too sticky to roll properly, the excess moisture means i need to clean my pipe twice a week and not just once. but for long term storage and flavour retention , 62 is the way to go. and then my personal stash or day stash is at 58%, its just perfect to do all of the above. Amazing the difference 4% makes ey?

It has to do with even more than just the moon imo. New and full moon phases are such that Earth, Moon, and Sun align. The solar and lunar tides are affected to a point where we visibly see a difference. I would say that's not far off from the circadian rythem we are governed by Ito the phenomenon. But yeah, its bigger than I think we might ever understand, and to prove this we would need a control universe without a moon and sun to provide a factual scientific answer

I exclusively use the 58% for this reason. Being a predominantly dry herb vaper, 58% keeps the buds just perfect for grinding up and vaping. 62% was always too moist for me and sometimes made my grinder stick.

Definitely agree. These stones are to keep tobacco moist. As a former rollie tobacco smoker, I surely would have benefitted from one of those stones; although I always managed to smoke my tobacco before it got too dry. I wouldn't ever suggest one of these stones for curing. Rather stick with Boveda packs. Stay away from those jutt Integra kak humidty packs. Those red-dot humidity indicators are poisonous.

Hi folks. So I've been following the forum and learnt a lot from fellow growers. This will be my second indoor run so I thought I might as well start a little grow diary. I have a thing for running different strains and trying to experience some of the fire genetics on offer. So in this cycle I will be running the following: Wedding Gelato - Royal Queen Seeds Purple Queen - Royal Queen Seeds Upper Cut - Oni Seeds Glookies - Barney's Farm Old School - Ripper Seeds Franco's Lemon Cheese - GHSC Chocolate Haze - Royal Queen Seeds *(Back up)* I started germination on the 19th of September with all 6 feminised seeds going straight into peat pellets. No water or wet paper towels for me, I have had 100% germination success with seeds straight into pellets. For some reason I feel handling the seed less during germination might be better. That being said... during the transplant from pellet to pot I accidentally broke the tap root of the Franco's lemon cheese in half.. It seems like the lady started growing sideways and when I removed the pellet from the tray the tap root snapped in half with that said a Chocolate Haze went into a peat pellet as reserve and I transplanted the broken Franco's with the hope of recovery. To my surprise Franco's started growing a new tap root without any cotelydon showing yet. So nursing her back to health now. I cut of the gaas from the peat pellets before transplanting to the final pot as I feel some of the gaas might stunt root growth by not allowing easy penetration through the meshy material. So today will be day 9 since germination and I am seeing some nice 2nd set of leaves developing. I also did a soil tup up today to get some of that stem shooting some extra roots. I will be running a full mainline training exercise in 20l pots on all the ladies bar those that might not like the High Stress Training so much. Looking forward to sharing the experience and getting some experienced growers to impart some knowledge. 19th September 23rd September 28 September

now that you point it out, the leaf veins are slightly different to the rest of the plant. Classic magnesium deficiency... or rather the start of one. What are you feeding her? i hope you have a box of epsom salts handy!

I'd give her more time, not a big plant either so the extra veg time won't be an issue. 6 weeks before flowering is quite a long time for autos though, looks as if the other plants started to flowering more than a week ago though. I have had some autos which turned out to be photoperiods, but it was 2 out of 2 seeds and not just one. If it does not flower within the next 2 or so weeks, its likely a photoperiod. It could have crept in while the seeds were being made (that it was a photoperiod, not an auto) or seeds could have gotten mixed up. I do not believe this to be common, but it can happen.

What up bro. So im assuming with large harvests then its probably esential to monitor RH. But with a small harvest it should be an issue?

it would be wise to have one or 2 for this purpose, if you have the cash, then yea why not... but i wouldn't call it essential to have one in every jar. once the RH stabilizes at the preferred RH, no more burping is required and you can trust that the bovida will do the rest. as for different strains, not really. i think i know what you are asking and i dont think so. RH is just the count of moisture, it has no effect on the flavour of the bud or the high.

If its the same strain. Harvested at the same time. With the same amount inside. Then 1 meter should be ok for all jars. If its different then maybe another meter.

Sort of with this one... If you harvest and dry and jar the weed and the RH goes up to 70+, your bovida might battle to absorb all the excess moisture. So burping is essential, even with bovidas for the first week of cure at least. Get some small RH meters that can fit in the jar to make sure the bovidas are holding the RH where it is supposed to be

Interesting points of view all around... Since I actually planned to start my grow in October, I'm gonna give it a go nevertheless as everything lined up perfectly for me... Happy growing all

@Totemic I set my veg light for 24/7, and I'm keeping it that way,. Its always been on 18/6. And I'm sticking to photo's from now on. I learned a lot about recessive genes these last few days. I learned why a third of my F3's looked like a completely different pheno and me thinking I was hit with stray pollen shelved them. And i realized my mission going forward is the duck foot gene. Having that recessive gene in a stable regular would be something to work for. In the early days we just cranked up the heat, to look for hermies and a few got pulled. We haven't had any problems with herms so far. We are finally at the point where we are crossing males from Dark horse and solfire gardens with dutch passion and humboldt genetics. This mistake wont happen again.

Nice one bro, then you golden, as long as you know your pH fixing any deficiency is a a whole lot simpler but more importantly it prevents them from happening in the first place - much less guesswork which is what I'm dealing with now I don't know what my PH is and its opened me up to all sorts I've got my vegging plants in a seperate grow basket (bout 6/8 weeks old) along with 1 small flowering plant in the same basket (runt) and I started noticing the veging guys started showing deficiencies while the flowering ones fan leaves went deep purple, within 2 days gradually bout 80% of the fan leaves are deep purple (tiny burn on edges, almost brownish in centre) and its progressed to the lowest new growth so its a mobile nutrient - what makes me scratch my head is that trying to fix the N/mag issues with the vegging guys helped fuckall which made me realise i must of went overkill on organics either way have flushed the kak out of it & today the veg guys looking better and the purpling seems to have stopped on new growth with the lady so maybe I'm out the woods - lol until I get a pH pen I can't be sure if your pH is sorted yeah I don't see any reason not to start feeding the big girls - maybe the other guys can add in but yeah the difference in pH between what goes in vs what goes out you can work out how much nutes your plants are uptaking etc

@BluntKnife i forgot to mention those ec readings are just basic guidelines always follow the instructions on the nutes if they mention an optimum ec for that specific product, obviously better to follow that -

Calcium and Magnesium are both important for good plant growth. Eggshell is calcium carbonate and it can swing your ph upwards. It will benefit your plants long term as it's kind of slow release, because it has to breakdown first. If you're in a hurry...You could try the KNF (Korean natural farming) method by treating the ground eggshell with vinegar and diluting with water. (Check methods online) Otherwise buy some ''Calmag'' (most hydro shops stock it) its got the Ca and Mg. I have used all the above methods and still do, depending on the situation.

Does not look like Nitrogen toxicity to me, leaf tips are not burnt, now clawing either. What nutes are you using - other than the epsom salts? I rate you could possibly stop with all of that and continue with your normal nutes. If you want to add some calcium, calmag is always good and I do not see the Nitrogen doing any harm. Leaves do not seem that dark to me. Testing the PH of run off in soil isn't necessarily going to be all that useful considering most soils have stuff in it to help buffer the PH. It's not fool proof, but it helps a bit. You can check the EC / PPM of the run off to get an idea as to what sort of strength of nutes are in the soil.

You can buy ladybugs, but not sure you can do so in SA. You can get swarskimites though, they're predatory mites and will eat some pests.

I did eventually get some Boveda packs post Lock-down thankfully and am curing with those. These humidity stones certainly aren't a tool for curing unless you cam spend ALOT of time checking RH. I placed a large quantity of water once and it totally made my herb wet again - yikes. It would be nice in a small smoker pack to reinvigorate old herb

7 weeks in and we slowly nearing the last dash to bulk up hopefully. Girls are happy and the OKC is doing above my expectations. Feeding has been some Microbes, Fire Juice, K-POW and BIO-PHOS with rainwater in between. I'm feeding the above because it's the second grow I'm doing in this soil and don't want to find out girls was maybe missing some nutes. The feedings ain't that expensive when using minimal quantities anyway. Think il feed like this I'll mid week 8 and then they can look for what they need at the end and clean themselves up from the inside. Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk

Day 22 of flower! These girls are having a treat, I'm amazed with how they are growing in the 2nd run in the FF Custom Crafted Soil! This week they had there usual Microbe, Fire Juice feedings and I introduced then to Dirtyhandsinc products. Yesterday was there 21st Bday and I gave then 2kg Dry Ice resting in front of the oscillating fan [emoji28] ( I was close to the factory so thought why not) and pushed temps up from avg of 25 to 28. So far I'm happy and looks like I might get just over 1g/w, 1,5 g/w would be nice [emoji23]. Did a defol on Wednesday and cleaned up beneath the net. What do you guys think of the reused soil run?
