I have found with my Virginia that the lower bigger leaves have a higher sugar and lower nicotine content when I harvest them yellow. Very much cigarette tobacco. The smaller top leaves are usually still quite a bit greener, and cure to that cigar taste without any roasting, just a dry and bag cure.3 points
-
Lekker man, you will be able to tell from the smoke when its dried and a bit cured. Virginia is your milder tobacco, the ones i grew almost taste like a cigar (possibly a burley variety) , Virginia should taste less cigar like and more a rolling tobacco. (Does depend a bit on cure, light toasting, etc)3 points

Hey Fellow Growers, I've started a new grow recently and I'll be posted updates here. 2x Quarter Pounder Autos (3 day germination, planted 4/10/2020) 1x Slurricane clone (Not sure about the age) Not yet added: 2x Do-si-dos photoperiod (I'll germinate these when the autos go into flower so that I can flip them after I harvest the autos) Lighting - 130 watt LED quantum board 3500k from @growopz . I'll add my QB75 when they start to flower. Medium - Orgasoilux organic living earth blend. Nutes - Biobizz grow, seagro, molasses, biobizz bloom.2 points

Good evening my fellow green fingers.. Below a T-1000 gifted to me by Bay Seeds. This litlle girl is going strong and showed sex about a week ago. I potted her up yesterday and she seems to not have been disturbed at all. I will be keeping this updated on a weekly basis from now on. Expecting this girl to be huge so will be training her from early on.2 points

Auto's, what a strange game. Some respond well to the manipulation, while others are really slow out of the gates. Amnesia Haze - Day 25. Responds well to the manipulation. Stardawg - Day 25. Not liking the manipulation that much. Do-si-Doh - day 25 also not liking the yoga to much. Opinion/Crit/Advice always welcome. Personal opinion: I started the LST to soon, and was probably to aggressive on the laaities.2 points

I like reusing my soils, re-amending them to save money. I have a 50l no till pot that is now going on 4 years old, and has grown 3 plants. With the last one though I noticed the soil performance wearing thin, having to fertilize more regularly. Envirofarm has a product that I'm going to test out on that soil. The only amendments going in will be the Epic 5:2 at their recommended dosage. This should be a great soil reviver or addition to a lean soil mix. Opening the jar you get this organic earthy and fresh ocean smell. Let's see how it performs.1 point

Aweh good people. Grow we will.... 1-2. Swazi...ishhhh lady. She is a bagseed from last years grow, came up in my tunnel's walkway- showed some vigour, so gave her a chance. Swazi...ishhh, judging by the growth and structure, but she got some haze in her it seems. 3. A Purple Pineapple f1 girl, she's slightly sensitive, if you look at the primary leaf mottling. Did transplant her to a slightly hot mix, but she's pushing through and showing good growth after the topping. 4-5. Chocolate Gorilla getting good. She's carrying a lot of bud for such a petite lady. Luckily they are stinky pungent. 6-8. Purple Pineapple, she's going to be the Control, she is big and airy, good sativa stuff. Pushing sizable pom poms and sugarleaves are getting frosty allready. She's handling it like a queen a with the weather being on its head, 3 weeks of drizzle and wind, RH 65-90% most of the time. Got some rock dust, giving it a shot in a seperate batch of soil as the science looks good. Feeding SST's and AACT's, keeping the girls happy and strong. Got offered some semi decent indoor - Big Bhudda Cheese and a Blue Cheese, eishhh we were dissapointed. Puffing on Mr @Dank's BC, it has cured well - smooth with hints of cinnamon and vanilla. The time was worth the time.1 point

Hi fellow growers, It’s rainy and cold in the Cape and it seems like the next outdoor grow is still eternities away. So I decided to do a little write up about my first outdoor grow in South Africa (used to do indoor in my home country). I think it might be beneficial for a first time grower. I hope it’s fine to post it here as this is a grow from 2016. I want to start off with a little background story. After 4 years of not consuming cannabis I decided that it’s about time for cannabis to be part of my life again. I didn’t have connections whatsoever in SA and buying from strangers wasn’t an option for me. I started to do some online research hoping to find seed vendors within South Africa because I didn’t want to risk being caught importing seeds. By that time the only online vendor I could find was Green Smoke Room but I was still very hesitant to order some seeds from them. By coincidence I found a guy on Gumtree who sold San Pedro Cacti and Salvia plants. I figured that he surely knows where to find some cannabis/seeds. My plan was to meet him to buy a San Pedro and then casually ask him if he also has some weed for me. That’s what I did and it all worked out as I hoped it would. I went home with a San Pedro cactus and a little bag with seeded weed. I was so happy to finally have some seeds even though these were bag seeds. Next thing I did was getting some good soil. I went to Stodels (yes I know what you think) as Freedom Farms either didn’t exist back then or I just didn’t have them on my radar. I think I was very lucky to find some awesome soil in a garden center with a PH of 6.3 I think. It might have been the soil from Floragard but I am not too sure about that. As friends and family had some funny ideas about cannabis I decided to do an extra stealthy grow… On our roof . I didn’t fertilize a lot before she went into flower. Only the last weeks of veg I fed her with some Seagrow and in flower I fed her only Biobizz Bloom. The total costs for that grow were something like 300-400 Rand. Below you’ll find some pictures. I only started to document my grow around week 3 after germination. As I was growing on the roof I needed to train the plant quite a lot so she’ll have a low grow profile. The plant got camouflaged by the grapevines pretty well. You see my growspot evolved slowly to counter problems like gale force winds or to keep it invisible to our neighbor. I even watered the plant before the sun came up to make sure nobody sees me. Once the buds fattened up I decided to play it save and build a little cover made from Plexiglas to ensure that rain won’t cause bud rot. Unfortunately the picture below is the last pic I made of the whole plant. This lady actually continued to grow another two weeks before I chopped it. As I harvested more than I expected I had to make a plan where to dry the buds. I figured the attic would be the safest place to dry my plant unnoticed. It worked out quite well, but if you can don’t dry it up there. It can get hot in there which will cause the plant to dry too quickly and also the heat is bad for the terpenes. This plant must have been a Sativa dominant hybrid. I can remember the first time I smoked it I was so full of energy that I had to mow the lawn. It was an awesome high. I decided to post this to show that it’s possible to grow some decent bud even on a very tight budget. I have to add that I was lucky the plant turned out to be female and that she was such a beauty. Bagseed is always a lottery and I think I won the jackpot that summer. I hope you enjoyed my little write-up and I look forward to start a proper grow diary this season.1 point

Bru I haven't had Mac D's since pre lockdown and I never thought twice about it. Now you got me hanging for a quarter pounder and cheese meal1 point

The final update for this grow diary, Small yields but that was expected with only 75watt of lighting. Sour Diesel Auto = 17g (pic in previous post) Cocopopo Auto = 19g (pic 1) Gelato Samba Auto = 17g (pic 2) Total weight = 53g. So just over 0.7g per watt although the Sour Diesel started and ended 3 weeks ahead of the other 2. Definitely not as dense as I would want them to be but I'm expecting better results from the new grow with the addition of the QB130 to my setup. Thanks to all for your valuable input and advice. On to the next one.1 point

I've used mycorhizal fungi with coco. Hard to say whether it makes a difference, even with soil. I like to think it does though. Haha Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk1 point

Just a little mycoroot. Don't know if it will do much for coco as I'm using salt based nutrients but the rumour is that it still helps the plant establish good root growth after transplanting1 point

What have you sprinkled in there? Is it mycoroot or some amendment?1 point

Harvest day... Pic 1 - Cocopopo Auto Pic 2 - Gelato Samba Auto1 point

Hey bru It wasn't rock hard dense but still pretty decent. What I did for the soil was I lightly dropped each pot a few times and added about 2 handfuls of living soil to each. Then i did exactly that...slowly watered. After about a week or so, they were fine. Harvest day for the cocopopo auto and gelato samba auto is today. I'll upload some pics after the chop. They're jut finishing their dark period. I germinated 2 Quarter Pounder Autos and planted them on Sunday. Also using living soil medium. I'll start a new diary for those girls The last picture is of the previous harvest.1 point

Seedlings started leaning a little towards the window and the light. Weather hasn't been good so they cant go outside yet. Had a duh moment when I realised I already have a perfect germination light in the house already [emoji23] Seedlings are spending the weekend in Widgets tank BS #1 has got a bit yellow around the edges. Think some soil got stuck under the little leaves. He has grown quite a bit. BS#2 broke ground last night and remains in 2nd position so far. Hoping for movement from 3 later and 4 by the morning if their patterns hold. Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk1 point

Yeah it wasn't a smooth ride. I learned a lot from that grow. But I was determined to grow my own and luckily it paid off.1 point

Thanks @SkunkPharm. By now I have convinced the people around me that this plant has many benefits besides just getting you high. So I don't need to sneak around anymore. My plan is to grow a few autoflowers and two photoperiod plants. I'll try my best to stay within the limit . The two photoperiod plants I grow are: Purple Moby Dick - Dinafem Simple Wedding Cake - Pheno Finder I'm really looking forward to see how they'll turn out.1 point

Awesome level of stealth. Congrats on finishing as well, must have been tough.1 point

Wow man that is an awesome guerilla grow. What are you growing thia season?1 point

So about 2 days before I wanted to start flowering I saw a bit of browning on the leaves, and a day after that it looked pretty hopeless. But I flushed them and since then I've just been feeding PH'd water, no nutes, and one of them looks like normal. The other however looks stunted and I will probably end up chopping it down, or keep it in veg until my next grow's flower. 2 -3 weeks ago: Today:0 points
