  1. The first to come down is the Slurricane. The rest will follow in the week

  3. I would suggest a blurple to a newbie before a HID setup. The lamps with cooling build in have one factor to worry less for a new grower. But over all, going LED is rather cheap these days. I even stopped using heat sinks on my new QBs.. just not warm enough to put one on. The heavy part are the drivers.. just check at digi-key from time to time when they have a shipping special.. they fork out free express world wide from time to time. Then you get the drivers very cheap. QBs.. 31$ for 1: 0.6x0.6cm area, 2 for 1.2x0.6, 4 for 1.2x1.2. calculate 120w per board per driver and i wouldn't go more then 2 boards per driver.. so 240w drivers or single lamps 120w. I paid 62$ at the time at digi-key for one driver (240w).. free shipping. The most simple version of a Quantum Board setup for a 1.2x1.2 area will set you back 4 x 31$ (around, just look and you will find) + shipping (express around 50-70$) and 2 x 62$ for the drivers. Lets say 320$.. about 5300 Rand plus customs. Switching the lights on.. will eat 1000 Rand a month. There should also be no panic to build the stuff together.. as long as you are able to understand the difference between + and - ... both written on each device rather clear, you can't ruin your stuff Those are naked QBs.. they will need a little air stream.. but I ignore the heat sink. I use 3000k + 660nm version in my grow setup I have now both versions 301B and H. Also in different light configurations.. Bars, 4 QB closed lamp and single QBs. My health issues kept me from sneaking around on my four.. but I can move again without harsh pains. I want to write a little guide in regards LED light configurations and hanging distance. Depending on grow space, some lamp configurations will make your life easier.. some much harder. And as not many have access to a quantum flux meter, I started to test, if I can translate the results to a normal lux meter free app for your phone.. I do not run apple.. sorry for that in advance. Results will be on android devices. My main issue, I do not publish any numbers, if I can't reproduce them on a totally different setup. Numbers would be useless if they are different. Friend is done with his batch in 1-2 weeks, then I take my numbers over and see if I get about the same readings as on my setups. He uses different tent producer but the same trays, 2 QB configurations, one bar lamp and one 4 QB closed configuration, each for 1.2x1.2, same as my stuff. I think this would help a lot to handle your main cost producer more efficient. Building a lamp, shouldn't scare you at all is rather easy. Time for home HID setups is over (my opinion).. suggesting a new grower a HID lamp.. is a bit questionable. The grow shop seems to "suggest" what they want to get rid off.. putting a HPS in your tent might end in a foxtail party (is not the good kind of party ) You want to go LED.. you really really wanna do that I agree very much with the rest in here

  4. Yeah it is going to be interesting to sift through the F1s. The plants are very different to one another. The choc gelato has a larger trichome structure, while the sluri trichomes are smaller, on longer stalks, and packed in tight. The sluri is super stretchy, while the choc gelato is a short indica, with way tighter noding. Here is the choc gelato female currently still in flower, but cant take it on face value, as this new cross is a poly hybrid cross... Chocolope x gelato 33 x slurricane My goals here are to find that pheno that yields like the chocolope, frosty like the slurricane, and the terpene profile of the gelato...super tall order, but the fun is in that hunt.

  5. 4th and final bbg sativa leaning pheno, smallest of the bunch = 51g This totals to 241g from the @Liontree supernova 320. Not terrible considering no nutes were added throughout, teas fed weekly. At times there was definitely enough space for 5/6 plants. But towards the end, I needed to maximize airflow between branches so opted for more space.

  6. If that is damping off, then you can try using some explogro or trichoderma when soaking the seed as that can help prevent damping off from occurring. I soak my seeds in distilled water with a drop or two of explogro as it contains trichoderma and then I use that same water to wet the carlton towel before putting it into a ziplock bag. How well it works, I can't say but I have never experienced that issue or had seedlings randomly die.

  7. I want to thank team @Envirofarm very much for my Epic 5:2! I have started using as a foliar spray on my seed tray, so it will soak in and feed the new sprouts too. I'm cautious not to over feed my cannabis, which already has other products in the soil mix. So I am thinking, I will use the Epic 5:2 on my veggies. I am fantasizing about healthy vegging and fruiting plants giving me a great harvest. I will journal my veggie grow with my cannabis grow.

  9. 10 Days From Seed Found some nice trays at Westpack to use for overflow when watering. Got the QB set to 100W at the moment and the plants are responding well. Watered again for the first time today since the transplant on Tuesday (5 days ago). So far smooth and sweet.

  10. Hi guys So I've been shopping around for a Led grow light for an indoor setup. I've narrowed it down to 2 different lights. 1- Being a 220w Samsung LM301B QB light going for R4900 https://plantliving.co.za/products/samsung-lm301b-full-spectrum-led-grow-light-220w 2- Being the Modugrow 90w light which can be daizy chained as you expand going for R2500.https://hydroherbafrica.co.za/product/modugrow-professional-led-light-90w-full-spectrum/ My question is has anybody used either of these lights and had success? Is this a good starting point? Look forward to hearing from you guys! Cheers

  11. Its situations like these that make a product like explogrow so good to use for seed germination. Trich is a very vicious fungus that dominates other moulds easily.

  12. That's what I do yeah. Dry the bud out completely and sift the lot. The flower that does remain will become canna butter or oil.

  13. If the Slurricane passes on its frost, it will at least be a good plant to look at! I don't know choc gelato, but have heard good things about gelato - I am sure this will be a pretty awesome cross! How do you get your seeds out when you have a looot of seeded plants? Any easy way other than digging through the bud?

  14. Looking beautiful man So was that a 64 day flower for Slurricane? Your leaf colour and structure still looks insane so late into flower. Your shits dialed in man!!!

  15. Yea it could be touch and go with the seed. That is one of the effects of a dirty seed that got too wet for too long. Usually called damping off. If the mold is inside the seed, it's done for... If it's just on the shell then it may come through this alive. The mold messes up the internals of the seed, turning it into mush. As long as your seeds aren't touching each other, then they should be fine.

  17. For me in the past a single or double CMH fixture has been great and gives a nice colour light. HPS and MH separate lights next to each other has worked for me too but the MH does add a lot of leaf. The blue light is important for the stronger stems compared to HPS alone. I have not tried all the very recent LED stuff and from my friends who design their own LED boards they say its working out great and much better for a hot climate to cool an indoor area. My friends LED flower area for example.

  19. Yeah straight up good luck right now with a HID lighting setup and no AC going into summer. Yes HPS has the best spectrum for bloom out of all of the options, but we talking 1000W HPS here, so unless you're going with that I don't think it should be an option at all. @Greg you mentioned the CMH bulbs are more expensive than HPS, but you forgot to mention CMH bulbs last as long as LEDs (50 000 hrs) and HPS bulbs last maybe a good 2-3 grows. Fork out the dosh and go LED. I can tell you what's going to happen if you go bulbs. You're going to play around for a month trying to sort the temps, you're gonna invest in an expensive extraction system to get all that hot air out, then two years down the line you will finally replace it all with an LED because you realised the shop guy talked too much.

  20. I have a lot of loose seeds from over the few years plus a handful of seeds that I recently purchased off BnB. I am going to germinate all 15 of them and take the 12 best looking ones [or at least the 12 that survive] and pop them into 20L fabric pots with Gold Label 70/30 Coco/Perlite that I just recently discovered. The strains going into the gauntlet are: Zkittlez x Purple Punch - Ripper Seeds x3 Criminal+ - Ripper Seeds x3 Royal Gorilla - Royal Queen Seeds x1 Aurora Indica - Nirvana Seeds x4 Jock Horror - Nirvana Seeds x2 Grand Daddy Purple - Green Smoke Room Seeds x2 Seed drop 2 October 2020 Light cycle flip 17 November 2020 Harvest dates: 1x Criminal +: 14 January 2021 1 x Grand Daddy Purple: 14 January 2021 Everything else: 17-18 January 2021 Flowering times will not be a concern as I have a spare tent that will be used just as a drying tent. I also don't plan on cloning anything yet. When I am done with this bunch I want to decide on a regular seed strain, find a mother and really dedicate to that strain for a while, whatever it may be. So far we got some live ones popping up, the first 12 at least.. I'll update again when I've chosen and potted the Mighty 12.

  21. Yo, I would like to know is it normal for autos to be this slow? (I'm on day 17) I did run into issues in the beginning of my grow, I was struggling with humidity and about half way through between day 7 and 14 I bought a humidifier becasue I couldn't keep the humidity up. Is my plant stunted or is it still good? Any help or advice would be appreciated.
    1 point
  22. Problems to try identify: 1. pH of the water or water+nutes is within 5.8 - 6.8 (ideal around 6.4 for soil), and run off is similar. 2. Three days after watering the bottom of the pots is dry. If this is the case then your mix is not holding too much water. 3. You are providing all the nutrients required. You have a good compost or earth worm castings for organic or you are using bottled salt nutrients that cover all the nutrient requirements. 4. Temperature is within 18C - 30C. 5. VPD is within limits, if you don't know what VPD is then google please. 6. You have no known pests in the area. Broad mites and other microscopic pests are sometimes a problem on stalled plants. Each type of infestation leaves tell tale signs. 17 days after sprouting you should have a plant around 15 - 20cm high unless there are problems.

  23. Where you get the seeds from? Based on what I can tell, you have two options depending on how much effort you want to put in 1) if you just wanna have a successful grow and not be bothered with understanding nutrients etc etc might be better off starting with a premix organic soil - something like this - soil naturally releases nutrients/makes them available as they required and more importantly soil has a buffer thats going to protect you from mistakes with feeding/pH - makes life much easier, less things to worry about https://www.jamiesgardenshop.co.za/shop/orgasoilux-potting-soil-premium-living-earth-blend-30l/ 2.)If you keen to learn and understand the ins & outs + how's, when & why if I'm allowed to post links to some awesome learning material or even post them here iI will do so but will wait on word from moderator before doing so but these will help put a lot of things into perspective for you and eliminate a lot of questions but be prepared each PDF is incredibly extensive (300pg+) @Ill_Evan @CreX i wanted to provide links to PDF's or the pdf's themselves (Cervantes/Greg Green/Ryan Riley) is this OK? Filesharing allowed?

  24. Thanks for the help, it's appreciated. Also my growing medium has to be the problem (which I suspected) because I have 4 plants that all look like this

  25. Just my 2c: Notice that the 220W light only has 416 LM301B diodes, and that the XLG-240 driver is only 91% efficient, and that aluminium plate is not a particularly good heatsink. According to the specs, it's only 200W at 230VAC, though I presume that's a misprint. XLG-240 should handle 220W.

  26. @CoolJ Thanks for letting me know seems like modugrow has got good service and product. Like you said they are slightly more expensive though. I don't mind paying for quality and service. Just want to make sure I'm buying the right light

  27. Eish dude I think you the only one who knew what it is lol everyone asks me wtf does Q9550 mean hahahaha Mine still works as well even still have the nVidea 9600GT Alpha Dog graphics card I purchased with it. At the time it was a good setup. The machine even came with a free 24inch Samsung led screen which I also still have lol

  28. Drooling with that description bro - nothing more frosty than slurricane
    1 point
  29. Lol Yeah that's the not so fun part, you just don't know what you are growing. Its kinda aimed towards the people getting into growing who want to move away from bag seed and doesn't want to spend a lot of money on fancy genetics. The guy even says in the description don't ask what the are just enjoy the deal hahahaha. That's an amazing price for 5 seeds so I don't mind not knowing what they are as long as the bud looks good. There are quite a few seeds on his website with names as well lol so you can also check what you like. No breeder information but again at the prices his got them for I can let it slide. I assume his getting it from bulkd seed bank or similar.

  30. Yes, this germinating seed is damping off and mold is setting in, so he is trying to save it by disinfecting it.. Worth a shot
    1 point
  31. I second this, will never be pure and there's no reason to need a pure solution anyway - 3% is enough, even then exercise caution Sorry for the dumb q but why we adding hydrogen peroxide for germinating a seed? Antiseptic? Otherwise unless you paid thru your ass for the seed, I'd scrap it and start over
    1 point
  32. Depends if you wanna keep the bud or not. If not, you let it dry out till it's proper crispy, then put it in a seive and go until you are left with seeds, presto. If you wanna keep the bud... Then maybe deseeding as you smoke it may be easiest
    1 point
  33. @PsyCLown my guess is it won't grow at all, if he leaves it alone my moneys on it will stay like that - maybe stem will stretch a bit but that's it
    1 point
  34. Pure is highly unlikely... Unless you work at a peroxide plant. The highest grade you could buy off a shelf is 50%, and even a tiny splitter splatter teensy weency droplet is enough to burn your skin very bad. Even food grade 35% will burn you very bad. If you used it as is you may have gone too strong and killed the seed.
    1 point
  35. Definitely not normal, what your seeds look like? Only time I've had midgets like this was from immature seed not getting light. I'd second what they guys are saying scrap it and start over - I actually spotted my runts in the backyard and still the same size 5 months later - looks exactly like yours Also maybe other forum members can comment but I personally never use bark in my medium unless I use a piece to prop a seedling up but otherwise i steer clear - bark is quite acidic and just like having stones n rocks in your medium your roots will have to work to get around it and will definitely stunt a plant if the roots aren't strong enough to displace whatever is in its way
    1 point
  36. Yeah, that's why I decided to chop her. She's starting to spew seeds everywhere. It was a Chocolate Gelato male
    1 point
  37. That is pretty small and slow in terms of growth. Being an auto, I would cut my losses and start over to be honest - the yield you would get from that would be teeny tiny. You may not even get enough for a single bowl at this point. Is the plant in a tent or open area? Humidity can be kept high by placing a plastic bottle over the plant when its small if the humidity is very low.
    1 point
  38. Awesome, thanks I will do so. I think it's pure hydrogen peroxide, I see online that the go to is a 3% solution with water. I have soaked it and replaced the paper towel. Will see how it goes Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
    1 point
  39. What strength is the peroxide? You want to replace the paper towel after the soaking in peroxide, normal tap water should be fine on the new paper... Going forward, maybe soak your seeds in some h2o2 for a few min before you put them into the tissue, that would reduce the rate of infection considerably. I would avoid soaking the paper in h2o2 as when it's covered it takes a lot longer to break down into water and may stay active for too long and damage the seeds.... A quick presoak should do the job
    1 point
  40. 17 days from the time you soaked your seed, or 17 days since you planted it? Either way, that plant is way tiny... Comparison would be a seed about a week from germination. What meduim do you have it in? Looks barky.... Also a smidge wet, but I have seen better plants with worse watering so I don't think it's that. Likely root damage and it's trying to recover. Do you have any other plants on the grow? I would plant more

  43. @Prom I agree completely. Rather a blurple light than HID for a beginner. However if budget can be stretched, without a doubt go for a decent Quantum Board! You won't regret it. With HID, an AC is preferable or at least a cooltube setup.

  44. Time has passed and I have topped two of my plants. The one that got eaten by the locust is bouncing back fast and furious as @Stinger96predicted for me. My mystery purple plant has begun fattening out nicely and I have a Double Wild Durban which will go in the ground in a week or two. I am still popping beans so I hope to have another Transkei heirloom seed sprouted soon. I bought buckets from Mambos. There were plenty to choose from and the price was acceptable. I bought the untreated Lucerne seed from Agricol for under R200 for the kg. MY teas are all made and fermenting now. I have the Bacteria Juice in one bucket, SST (with Kelp) in another, and Banana Tea in the third. I am doing vegetables in a seed tray at the moment too. I will have to build tents for all of the plants. There are squashed locusts errywhere!

  45. To me, sounds as if they were trying to steer you towards a sale from their store. I say LED all the way! You can get quality LED lights for under R6k for sure! What exactly did they want to sell you for R6k? 240w QB? I wouldn't purchase a blurple LED light either.

  46. Keep the youngsters on the wet side. To much would be a standing water swamp... give a few ml a day. Put a moisture dome over to keep humidity high and prevent total dry out of the top soil. Keep it warm.
