They definitely know their stuff, success doesn't come without it that's for sure. When are you planning on planting this new batch? Do you perhaps have a website? (Wanted to browse through your different strains or are they all logged here on forum?) Again anytime you need a tester am always happy to help local breeders build their name by logging a grow on forum and spreading the word - There's a strong market for localised genetics as I feel 90% of growers will buy local should the genetics be superior/on par with strains sourced internationally & developed with our climate in mind etc, sure the breeder will still rely & have to buy new genetics internationally, but that doesn't mean the average grower should be sourcing their stuff overseas and paying premium+import duties when there's perfectly dank strains/phenotypes being isolated & bred locally There's a huge gap in the market here in RSA which can be easy filled by locals if the government scraps the plant count or issues growing licenses for those that need to grow more than the prescribed quantity - not only does this generate much needed revenue it will also indirectly create many entrepreneurship opportunities for small/medium businesses & jobs will follow whereas only focusing on commercial wholesale/export opportunities like saphra does little to address the dire state of unemployment and lack of opportunity for the little fish in a emergimg market and this is a huge shame - the little guy should be given first opportunity then open up to the corporations instead of letting corporations corner and create a monopoly in the market which in turn will permanetlky shut the lil guy out as these corporations will lobby hard to keep the market to themselves Marx was right with his critisism of Capitalism, its inherently flawed & doomed to fail eventually (especially with central banks printing their way out a crises - highest global unemployment rate ever yet stock markets at all time highs) the laissez faire system will only benefit those who already have and leave behind the have nots, always been like this and little going to change until the revolution arrives That's my political/philosophical rant for the day lmao - time for a joint3 points

@Psylecta I hate paying R1000+ for a pack of 10 seeds when im pulling hundreds upon hundreds of seeds off a single big plant. Made me realize how greedy the big company's are with those giant grow rooms. Thats why my seeds will never be over a R100 for 5. I feel thats fair. I dont mind being the budget seed guy . More people end up growing my strains.2 points

@Batista gorgeous looking stash you had there bud. I'm sold, definitely going to give these bags a try.2 points
-
I'd also probably go bigger than necessary. Might be a bit tricky if you have multiple strains though. I think also the gram amount labelled for the terp bag should be considered the max with regards to the bag's ability to regulate the humidity.2 points

I got the 226g I think.I only stored 140g of my forbidden skittles in there,it could take more than 226g I reckon. Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk2 points

This is going to be a mixture of indoor and outdoor growing using soilless mix with chemical nutes and also comparison organic grows of the same cloned strain to compare the effects on the bud flavour and potency and the following- Factors for Chem vs organic comparison A Cost savings B Ease of use(consistent nutrient delivery vs microbe pop.) C Diagnosing and solving issues(Nutrient, pest, enviro) D Growth rate(Finishing time) Strains Seedsman :Badass cheese og Totemic: Chocolope,Bubba Kush Ethos: FSkittles (clone) White label : white skunk BNB: Bruce banner, grande crack Pics to follow Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk1 point

@Bakstein420 I dont pay the electricity bill so for now thats not a worry. But heat will definitely be something to consider1 point
-
I know a few growers that swear by their 1000w HPS. As long as you can manage the heat and handle the electricity bill, then you're golden.1 point

Yeah most definitely agree, would love to know what their actual overheads are for developing a single strain and then overheads for the operation as a whole - would be able to get a fair idea of the markup (probably cents on a $ - easily 1000%+ markup) As a general grower yeah prices for top genetics from guys like Ethos & in-house is a little pricey (especially with our currency - Canadians don't consider $300 for 10 seeds expensive when you pay $120 for 14g) Breeders have it a lil easier as theyll eventually recoup their investment 1000 fold on the first batch of seeds. R100 for 5 seeds is a great price as long as you making a living too1 point

@CoolJ Well thats sorted lol. Ok cool, ill send everybody's stuff after the 31st .1 point

Love super cropping, I just always make sure I've LST'd the branch first otherwise trying to work it after she develops a fat knuckle is a bitch1 point
-
That's looks like a phosphorus or calcium deficiency in the earlier pics - glad to see she's healed up nicely - looking real good1 point

I agree. I also think if someone is passionate and has the means they are probably at it already, but it'd be nice if the funds were taxable and a benefit to all. Unfortunately the use of our tax in the country is also a contended issue at the moment, so even that as a benefit is misleading. You can take your commie ass outta here and back to China!1 point

The Mexican Airlines is slowly doing its thing. Fastbuds recommend taking it easy with nutes so I have only given her half strength feeds every 3rd watering. Apart from that, not much to report back about. I am really enjoying growing autos outdoor and I'm quite surprised I haven't had issues with regards to the elements or pests (touch wood).1 point
-
Yeah she was definitely hungry for Nitrogen! I stopped feeding grow but she recovered nicely after I feef her.1 point

Correct, they don't really mention recommended storing amount, but in my situation my bud stank of gas and cookie dough, extremely strong and you could smell nothing at all outside the bag,but maybe if it was too full it wouldn't be able to mask/regulate itself.I though about throwing in a boveda but decided against it since I finished that delicious bud in no time [emoji31] edit : also boveda is meant for closed jars not bags lol Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk1 point

I experienced those burnt clawed tips when I overfed and my pH was below 5. Try a feeding above pH 6 at half the dose. Although the tips won't fix itself now, you're only preventing any further abnormalities.1 point

Sick shit bro, congrats once again What are those 3 turntable things you got there?1 point

So they both yellowed out their fan leaves a dnd the tips of the sugar leaves also browning. Wonder if I overfed them a bit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Definitely seems to affect people differently. I do prefer vaping over edibles, I also find edibles can be rather grounding in the sense that it makes one lazy. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk1 point

Can EFT be reversed? He mentioned order/payment was a month ago so by now cannabist has surely withdrawn it anticipating the impending doom ahead for the brand1 point
-
Quickly try reverse the EFT or payment. It is so sad how things have turned out, looked so promising when he first hit the scene.1 point

Or, you read a review and search the seed bank for the breeder and every single item is out.1 point

Nice! The plants will finish at the same time, however growth may be a bit quicker with coco and fertigation vs soil and no nutes or nutes and watering every few days. Keen to see how it turns out and what the results are. Variables play a role too, but it will still be interesting to see.1 point

Ok so things are looking a bit better, ph is back to normal. Our tapwater tested at 8.2 yesterday. The Dr Grinspoon looks shitty but has the best smell of all my plants. Like smelly armpits but in a good way. Loaded with seeds.1 point

I can't believe Cannabist have the audacity to have a link on their website saying "feeling a bit weary , no stress ask members on 420SA about their experience" and it leads me here. Put in an order with them a month ago worth R2000, a few days later i check out the reviews on 420 just for interest and i realized that everything had gone to sh!t, they haven't responded to my emails or whatsapp. I'm sitting here with pots filled with soil , everything's ready but nothing to plant. Out of 13 local seed banks I chose Cannabist These guys should be closed down , they can't run a business like this.1 point

A little teaser till the weekend. Purple bud with pistils starting to turn orange1 point

A little update as the girls are in full flower and had to move them to the grow space as they started to stink up the room. The ak48 is interesting as there is not a lot of pistols on the buds The white widow is smelling really yummy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Fem seeds are convenient. That's about all for me. They are too 'flat' ito expressions and that's great in a commercial environment. I prefer regular seeds. Plants are just more robust, express better etc Even for my breeding I prefer creating regulars, as it's more about preserving genetics as with fems you aren't preserving the genetics, you are shaving off future genetic potential.1 point
-
I agree there is lots of shit out there. I think if your starting out and you dont have the cash. You go through lots of shit before you realize that you have to pay for good genetics.1 point
-
And I have another question. Do you guys prefer growing fem or regular seeds. I know fem seeds are very convenient that will get a female. But regular seeds seem to have more vigor and larger yields. How have you found regulars?1 point

I've run into a couple of duds - multiple plants, same strain, same breeder - all different in growth and terpene profiles - one hermied in flower for no reason. Will never buy from them again. Schoolfees. If the genetics are weak or the breeder messed up somewhere, the grower can try his best and still end up with shite. But I must also add, some growers have greener fingers than others....and some should rather stay away from plants.1 point

Very nice... Haven't heard of it but definitely keen on the next one now that I know. Would be interested in cooperating with the organisers as well. Sent from my POCOPHONE F1 using Tapatalk1 point

Greetings Fam So I've been around the weed scene for a while now, trying to keep track of whats going on and up to date with the latest laws. I must say, Cape Town has a BOOMING cannabis community and I wish I was closer to there to actively contribute to the scene. The thing is, even disregarding the lockdown, a lot of us can't travel at leisure for personal interest just like that. Gauteng and JHB have their hydro peeps that are growing some absolute fire as well. These places I've mentioned also have like proper cannabis stores and such, with a multitude of secret smoke shops, cafes and dispensaries. Now I do know that KZN (Durban and surrounding areas mostly) have their fair share of spots, but it's nothing when compared to the likes of those in CPT or the accessibility of the spots in JHB. We do have 1 dedicated grow store that I know of (not saying there aren't other based in KZN) but our Canna community just doesn't feel the same. What I would like to see is more community organised Cannabis events that are brought about by the community of growers that are confident enough to host such an event, and it would be awesome if those events can touch base in Durban more often than the likes of the CannaExpo and such. There are many things that can take place at the event but I guess the main aim would be to better connect the network of growers in KZN and hopefully help those that have the means to grow but just don't know how - because lets face it, growing is complicated if you starting off from scratch with just a seed, soil and a want to grow your own. The event should ultimately promote locally produced, quality products to show everyone that the companies in SA know their stuff and can give you the same type of products for a lower cost. Information online can be very misleading and it sets a lot of people on the wrong path from the very beginning. I've met so many people in Durban who want to grow, or who are growing, but are just doing things wrong because they don't understand the basics. For example, not knowing that it's better to compost organic waste and then use the composted mix, or not knowing that your roots need oxygen as well. So yeah... I don't know if what I've said makes complete sense, but i hope you guys get it. For what it's worth, I would be interested in helping in such events or anything in future if anyone reading this does actually take action and get this off the ground (I would if I had the means). Just browsing the subforums and decided I'd leave this here as it seems like the right place.1 point

@Bakstein420 Thanks i see the last one was in Feb, We have had a few events listed at The Green Dragon Tea Garden will keep an eye out for the next one to list! There are a few alternatives you may be interested in, in the mean time https://cannabis-events.co.za/1 point

A further update: NONE OF THESE SEEDS GERMINATE SACF is a scam operation and would avoid at all costs. It’s no wonder they told me they were shutdown by the police and couldn’t send out my order immediately... crooks! Biltong and Budz on the other hand had their order to me within days, and their auto Hindu Kush is in mid flower and is simply beautiful1 point

If the strain is bred properly and stabilized there is very little to no chance of genetic abnormalities or weaknesses.1 point

Funny guy neh. Put your haha's where your mouth is papi... I'm beginning to think you haven't even harvested for the first time yet1 point

LOL I'll choon the stomata on underside of your prized bagseed I have grown a decent amount of bagseed out, more than 100 for sure. Is very rare to find one plant that's decent. And even rarer to find someone who is willing to take cuttings of something they have never smoked or flowered. Im saying that out of 10 bagseed plants, you might find 1 or 2 that are okay But with paid for genetics out of ten, you will get 7 or 8 or more decent plants. It's really not fun spending weeks or months growing a plant you think will be amazing! And then after harvest it's not what you are looking for at all. You can carry on doing you bru... But don't for a second think you are doing yourself a favor by not growing tried and tested genetics from well spoken of seed companies.1 point
