Been a long reveg, but planted the girls up into 15l. Slurricane, blunicorn, spumoni and chocolate gelato. 1-2 weeks veg to settle, then I'll flip. I had to do a lot of cleaning up as the reveg girls were way too bushy. The chocolate gelato pollen donor female is already in flower.6 points

do yourself a favour and stock up on some IPM products if you can. Get an anti fungal agent - copper soap, Sulphur burner, neem too a little, AQSG Get an anti bacterial - H202 is great for spraying plants, unscented bleach is good for general disinfectant of your tent and tools (Sodium hypochlorite) Get an insectacide - Margret has a whole bunch that are pretty potent, Neem, Pyrol all work like a dream and then, also get a wetting agent, as well as a foliar feed of your choice, kelpak is good, and have had good experience with Trellmix all that could easily set you back over a grand, and there are many other products i did not mention, but i would start with the copper soap and pyrol, and a wetting agent. tis the season for PM with all this humidity and rain we are having.4 points
-
None that I can think of. It's for foliar spraying. A wetting agent prevents this (see the water droplets and how that will prevent the solution from staying on the leaves): It will help the solution spread more like this and coat the leaf / plant better:3 points
-
A wetting agent is something you mix with a solution which will be sprayed onto the plants. So something you'd typically mix with pyrol for instance, the wetting agent helps spread the solution when its sprayed on the plant and prevents it from forming drops and rolling off the plant. It helps it to stick to the plant basically. It helps spread the liquid and prevents it from forming droplets and rolling off. If you have ever used a product like Wynn's C-Thru on your your windshield, it might make more sense. After using C-thru any water will form a drop and run off the windshield easily. This is the opposite effect you want when spraying your plants with some sort of foliar spray, so a spreading agent / wetting agent helps prevent this from occuring.3 points

Haven't done the 3rd topping as yet but just had to share this good news from bad news. So firstly I lost the Wedding Gelato mother.. but she gave back with 3 little baby cuttings that all took root. Secondly, as I was doing the 1st top mainline training on the Chocolate Haze I took one of the mains too far and it got a small little split in the stem. Taking for the knowledge of fellow forum members and se YouTube videos I wrapped the damaged stem with insolation tape to try and limit stunting. As I was watering the clones today I saw a huge bulge forming under the tape. I took of the tape and to my surprise had a huge knuckle that formed. So from my mistake, remedied with a quick fix, I was able to do my first supercrop while still aiming to mainline that stem. Should be super interesting to compare the supercrop side growth against the normal stem. Clones also moved in to the big lady tent. Full tent Supercropped Chocolate Haze3 points

in my opinion... i would give each of those pots about a litre of water each, no nutes... and literally forget about them for a week the poor things arent even a few days old and you are over stressing haha. the baby has just been born, you dont need to worry about college for a while my bru! take it easy... the sun will do its job the sun also provides about the same amount of energy to your plant in a few min, as those lights will in the whole night. they are Autos so you dont need to worry about a light cycle. and if your tems are not dipping below 15 degrees, you can leave them outside the whole time, they will grow big and strong! bottom line, what i am trying to say is... right now, you are the danger to your babies. they are looking good man dont be so worried! Peace and love man!3 points

Give it a few more days and keep the soil moist! If the soil dries out, you can kill the seedling. You do not want soaking wet soil, but it needs to always remain moist.3 points

Hey everyone, I'm keen on doing a bit of an experiment and thought it would be a great way to get going on the forum. I'm doing an outdoor living soil type grow with some local genetics from Daggafontein. Their Gardener's Delight Mix. I'm so used to growing bagseed, I thought it would be a good start to dip my toes into some better local genetics. I also got some of DG's Diesoline and Candy IV seeds, but that grow might only happen next season. Got a few things going already this season. So, some general info about the grow. Like I said, I want to experiment with a living soil type of grow. I'm used to soil and organics, but only recently have I started to focus on beneficial microbial life and their role in growing strong and healthy organic plants that are pest and disease resistant. I have a few shops close by that stock Bark Unlimited Organics range of products. They are local to me and easily available, so to keep things simple, I will try and stick with them. I'm going to use 12 liter and 20 liter fabric pots and fill them with a mix of coco coir, BUO outdoor potting soil, homemade compost (hot + cold), vermicastings from my own worm bin, vermiculite, some bone meal and some Bio Ocean pellets from Atlantic Fertilizers. For a mulch layer I'm using BUO Bark Chips. The only other stuff I intend on using for this grow is some liquid kelp + probiotic mix for foliar and my own compost extract. For pest control, I plan on using neem oil with some selected essential oils, diatomaceous earth (also for the silica content) and castile liquid soap from PureSimple. Water ensured to be chlorine and chloramine free and PH adjusted to be between 6 and 7. So let's get this show going shall we? 04 November 2020 I picked 6 random seeds from the 20 Gardener's Delight Mix seeds (GDM) I got from Daggafontein and into the shot glass with some proper water they went. They were left for about 5 hours in the glass before transferring them to a paper towel. 05 November 2020 After about 30 hours since going into water, one of the seeds popped and the taproot was showing. I decided not to wait with this one and transferred it into a 8cm plastic cup filled with BUO Super Hemp Soil and some compost extract to wet and inoculate the medium and then I misted the surface of the soil until properly wet. I'm going to keep the seedlings indoor for the first two weeks about. I'm also going to add supplemental light to extend light hours. I'm using a 250w MH for this purpose as it's what I have. Excited to see what this grow will deliver...2 points

I haven't tossed the plants yet @PsyCLown, my mate says he'll take a chance trying to mend them. He's hellbent on saving the genetics, coz they are good ones to keep. I'm doing a proper clean over the weekend. Full tear down of everything. I have one of those hand pump sprayers, so i was checking i could mist the entire tent then zip up and hold the mister at the intake vent with the fans on to get the H202 everywhere. Wipe down and repeat. Just worried about the H202 potentially eating on my LED's. I could remove the lights and spray that down with ISO... Also, my tent vents directly out of a window, so the room should be safe... Would bleach kill the spores? I know H202 will.2 points

I agree with @CreX Coppersoap is great for PM but should not be used when the plants are in flower - you can then make use of Sulphur (not burning, but get one which you can spray). Wetting agent is always useful too. Pyrol is great for pests and I see you already have that. Hydrogen Peroxide and/or bleach (jik, or whatever) to clean and sterilize the tent and equipment. It would be best to clean the fans and everything but in reality it's going to be near impossible to do a thorough clean and get everywhere. You can also consider a disinfectant fogger, have all equipment on and running (so the fan moves) and set off the fogger inside the tent. Keep in mind the PM spores have likely been pushed to the outside of the tent via your extraction fan. So perhaps set it off in the room which contains your tent and ensure a good portion gets inside the tent too. This might be easier than using a cloth with bleach or H2O2. How well it works in comparison, I am not actually sure... but in my mind it makes sense that it would work well. lol Pitty you have chucked the plants already, I was going to suggest coppersoap and/or some sulphur - should get rid of the PM and possibly even those weird spots you had.2 points
-
@Wulf I have heard very mixed opinions regarding those soil water meters - they do not seem to be very accurate overall. IMO get use to not using one, I also feel people make a big deal with regards to overwatering but underwatering is a big concern as well, especially for the small seedlings.2 points

5 years of growing and this is the 1st time i got PM. And from my friends clone, the mother fucker! Hahaha! Will defs get some copper soap. I have most of the other goodies already.2 points

dont stress it mate! soon you will be just like the rest of us with beautiful happy plants! stick around and you cannot fail2 points

While i have your attention, PM has spores right, so does this mean i have to disassemble my fans and clean EVERYWHERE?2 points

With you on that one, Chief. Have had to chop a grow myself not too long ago. You can definitely use H2O2 as a cleaning agent2 points

Almost happened with my @Bay Seeds grow. Forgot them outside in the blistering heat with domes on. Fuuuck I said to myself. 5 day old seedlings where bloated and like a dark purple/black colour. Only use domes for bedtime now until I can build warmer veg area. Once again thanks for the heads up though. Little bit more learnt. [emoji109] Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk2 points

What up 420Fam, I'm a long time reader of the forum but don't really post much as I'm more of an introvert and usually prefer to keep to myself. I have been growing for a long time but would still consider myself a "noob". Started off growing in a PC case ages ago when extreme stealth was still required lol Thankfully things have changed and now I'm able to grow out of a tent. Not the biggest tent, actually its meant for germination (Mammoth Prop 90) but its what I have and its doing the job currently. Currently vegging indoors and flowering outdoors. I am in the market for a new tent if I can find stock and at a decent enough price so I can do a full indoor run. My plants are already on the go and are at around the 22 day mark since going into the coco plugs. I don't usually grow autos as I have not had much success but the seeds were cheap enough to play with. They are exactly what the title states... Unknown autos so basically all I know is that they are autos but the strain is unknown. Details of Grow: Tent: Mammoth Prop90 (900 x 600 x 600) (Veg Only) Growing Medium: Freedom Farms Premium Classic Pots: 10L GrowBudz Fabric Pots Nutrients: Umya Pot Radix, Pot Grow, Pot Flora Additives: EM Pro-Soil, Seagro Seeds From: Groen Seeds Breeder: Unknown Strains: They shall be known as: Unknown Auto 1 (UA1) and Unknown Auto 2 (UA2) Lights: 1 x ModuGrow Bar @ 90w , 2 x DIY ModuGrow boards @ 20w each Light Cycle: 18/6 Right now lets get to what you all came here for... PICTURES!!! Day 1 - 2020/10/14 - Seeds sowed directly in coco peat plugs. No shot glass soak or paper towel method. Coco was soaked with EM Pro-Soil Microbes and dechlorinated water. Day 3 - 2020/10/17 - Seeds broke ground Day 4 - 2020/10/18 - Transplanted into the 10L pots Day 7 - 2020/10/21 Day 12 - 2020/10/26 - Was away from home, so missed a couple pics in-between Started getting some issues. Could be either the FF mix is too hot for them or the heat in the tent. Temp's were at around 27 - 30 degrees. Day 17 - 2020/10/31 Day 19 - 2020/11/02 - Plants seem to be taking of now UA1 in the front, UA2 at the back Day 21 - 2020/11/04 Please feel free to drop any comments or share any advice you may have. Thanks for dropping by peeps!!!1 point

@GGG Efekto G49 and SK Eco Oil are both decent options. There are a few other options too. Builders and nurseries should stock them, the bottle will tell you how much to use.1 point

Cheers bud. So is there any application for a wetting agent to go inside grow medium at all? Or strictly for foliar spraying?1 point
-
Hi guys. I've not worked with wetting agents before. Would I be correct in assuming they are useful for when trying to keep your medium as dry as possible, yet still offering the plants maximum hydration? So, would a wetting agent also work well for watering while having fungus gnats, as another example? Or should one be using a wetting agent throughout the grow?1 point
-
Yeah, use your finger, I find it works well. The soil will dry out on the top first most of the time and the lower parts of the soil might still be moist. A seedlings tap root will grow and shoot down rather quickly however I still prefer to use my finger to check how dry the soil is and then decide whether I need to give it more water or not. Feeling the weight of the soil can also help. The pics of your soil looks very dry, but it could just be the very top layer and directly underneath it has a lot of water it is holding - but from what I have heard those soil moisture meters are not very accurate or useful.1 point

@CreX Hi Bud Thanks for the reply, this really got me laughing : That would be me, Im a reall stress pot, hence I need pot so that I can have clarity of thought.(KIDDING WITH THE RHYMES) Been a newbie/first time grower, ja its hectic, hence I asked isnt there a "university" that one can attend, LOL! About watering, I do have a moisture meter and it reads the soil as been wet hence I was afraid to give water....(Bought one from builders warehouse, so a cheapy, but seems to work fine) This is so true: Again Thank You!1 point

Advise taken and acted upon. Domes are more for a bit of warmth at night until the seed shows it's head. But bin it is. Sent from my DRA-LX5 using Tapatalk1 point

i read you say lights? did you get a few more as suggested? otherwise if it was just one light, please provide some pics of your plant. also maybe an estimate of how many grams you yeilded? if you get close to 20, then the light didnt do too bad1 point
-
Hey man! be careful not to smother the seedlings with those domes... i would throw them in the bin honestly... if the seeds have broken surface, you are only doing them an injustice. and greatly improving the odds of dampening off.1 point
-
Nice, what sort of yield did you get from the first plant? I see the website no longer exists as well.1 point

Fabric and air pots have a reason to be there. I think the advantage of the airpot is the increased surface area they generate.. and bring more air to the roots. As they are stable to lift, I would consider them, if they wouldn't be round ^^ I like my square pots Perfect to place together in early stages and easy to lift around. Fabric pots are good and if you use them, they should provide some advantages too in regards to airing your roots way better. But they come with disadvantages too. Carry them around needs always 2 hands, my plastic pots I can handle with one hand. The more annoying issue is the top feeding. The liquid likes to run off over the outside of the pot and leaves the inside dry. I think you can only water fabric pots the right way over tray feeding, it needs to soak in.1 point

@Viri bit difficult for me to see but there seems to be some amber and quite a lot of milky trichomes. So I reckon you could harvest now and it would be good, or if you want some more amber wait a few more days before you harvest.1 point

You can take them inside and finish them off in flower with some lights or you could take them inside and reveg them with lights and then flip to flower (will take longer though). Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk1 point

For dealers of the hard one's, cocaine, opiates, meth, a custodial criminal sentence is fitting. They destroying lives. As for a user, criminalising their use/addiction, does nothing to help them out. The R250k cost of pulling a user from arrest to prison sentence could be used for positive interventions and help.1 point

Thanks for the input guys. Nothing weird happening at the roots @Dank. And she drinks more than the other lady. 5L nute mix every 2nd to 3rd day. Her growth hasn't slowed down, but the spots are unsightly. I managed to snap a few shots through the loup this morning. Sadly that's as good as it's gonna get. @ORGANinc., the reason why I suspect leaf septoria is coz there are no critters. Also, the symptoms are the same, apart from the brown spots they speak of. I've compared the pics from google and alot of them look just like mine. But the bulk of the pics have brown spotting as well. I wanna select a ruderalis female and male for more ruderalis seeds. Used all I had for the selection now. I will drop some seeds for you guys to test and comment.1 point

Love the coke bottle humidity domes, I use to use them as well but got frustrated having to cut them and not being able to cut them straight lol So now I switched over to the McDz McFizz plastic cups, they make good humidity domes and can also be used as a germination station with peat plugs if you save the lids. Will update with pics when I find them...1 point

I'm still convinced it's the soil bud, compare it to the others who have used that type of soil here: You'll see what I mean. And you'd be surprised what a difference you'll see in something like Freedom Farms or Organics Matters or Jamie's Garden Shop soil... It's not the cheap seeds either - here are some of my Bulk Seed Bank R60 autos from B&B. No failed germination issues with them either. But remember, no matter the breeder - autos are fussy as hell and require a lot more 'ideal' conditions than photoperiods if you're going to be happy with the results in many cases. But these are the same cheap genetics that people hate on and I found them great for the price.1 point
