Love the tent setup bro, super neat. Looks like a working display in a high end hydro shop.4 points

I've been light on the nutes. I was trying to gauge the strength of the new coco. Didn't want to go and burn the shit out of the seedlings and they got a bit hungry Otherwise, looks like I have one plant that's getting a bit taller than the others, it is one of the Aurora Indicas. Out of the 4 planted this one decided to be a stretcher. I may just try my hand at super-cropping on this one3 points
-
Here is my first attempt at supercropping I am doing this to stop the taller Aurora Indica from getting too out of hand. It is also another first and if successful is just another tool in the toolbox of growing goodies.2 points

That sounds awesome @Prom , creating a real auto with swazi structure and perhaps even flavours is not impossible. You might have to work em to the f3's or f4's and then backcross back to some of the f2's, or even f1's again, selecting under the 24hr cycle will ensure you catch the auto gene along the way. If i had to plan a project like this, i would go swaz male to ruderalis fem (line 1) and then ruderalis male to swaz fem (line 2). Take some pictures of your swaz and ruderalis males used in the first f1's. When selecting males outa the f1 gen i would go for the boy closest resembling the swaz, but triggering under 24hr. With those f2's you will get an idea if the male carried over the structure, also one of the lines should conform quicker than others. I would then breed the winners from both lines f3 gen together to see what happens, then also f3 to f1 gen, etc. Prom's Swaz Autos bred in SA pappi2 points

Yes, sorting for the final step to get pure Autos I do in 24/0. As I use pure Ruderalis, I actually hope I can preserve the Plant structure.. but will always be a hybrid at the end.. I hope a very very sativa heavy one, rest is a fail ^^ I do the Malawi after this one.. ^^ still looking for Kilimanjaro Seeds.. they are not that easy to pick up hehehe2 points
-
I stick a bit in here with the 8 plant limit.. not sure if Ruderalis actually count ^^ I make me some more seeds and pollen as I started my Swazi Gold Auto Project. I will make a diary of that.. got a bit shifted as I need the 12/12 tent for the upcoming CBDs for a friend with nasty epilepsy. She wants to check if the CW's help her and she can get off her medication. What else I have in my stable are 2 FastBuds strains.. Gelato and Pineapple Express. The Pineapple seems to be on a rush and I am doing something right with those ones. Gelato is strangely smaller this grow. Both are Week 5 Day 1. Gelato Pineapple Express Ruderalis and the CW's are just out of the ground.1 point

Hey everyone, I'm keen on doing a bit of an experiment and thought it would be a great way to get going on the forum. I'm doing an outdoor living soil type grow with some local genetics from Daggafontein. Their Gardener's Delight Mix. I'm so used to growing bagseed, I thought it would be a good start to dip my toes into some better local genetics. I also got some of DG's Diesoline and Candy IV seeds, but that grow might only happen next season. Got a few things going already this season. So, some general info about the grow. Like I said, I want to experiment with a living soil type of grow. I'm used to soil and organics, but only recently have I started to focus on beneficial microbial life and their role in growing strong and healthy organic plants that are pest and disease resistant. I have a few shops close by that stock Bark Unlimited Organics range of products. They are local to me and easily available, so to keep things simple, I will try and stick with them. I'm going to use 12 liter and 20 liter fabric pots and fill them with a mix of coco coir, BUO outdoor potting soil, homemade compost (hot + cold), vermicastings from my own worm bin, vermiculite, some bone meal and some Bio Ocean pellets from Atlantic Fertilizers. For a mulch layer I'm using BUO Bark Chips. The only other stuff I intend on using for this grow is some liquid kelp + probiotic mix for foliar and my own compost extract. For pest control, I plan on using neem oil with some selected essential oils, diatomaceous earth (also for the silica content) and castile liquid soap from PureSimple. Water ensured to be chlorine and chloramine free and PH adjusted to be between 6 and 7. So let's get this show going shall we? 04 November 2020 I picked 6 random seeds from the 20 Gardener's Delight Mix seeds (GDM) I got from Daggafontein and into the shot glass with some proper water they went. They were left for about 5 hours in the glass before transferring them to a paper towel. 05 November 2020 After about 30 hours since going into water, one of the seeds popped and the taproot was showing. I decided not to wait with this one and transferred it into a 8cm plastic cup filled with BUO Super Hemp Soil and some compost extract to wet and inoculate the medium and then I misted the surface of the soil until properly wet. I'm going to keep the seedlings indoor for the first two weeks about. I'm also going to add supplemental light to extend light hours. I'm using a 250w MH for this purpose as it's what I have. Excited to see what this grow will deliver...1 point

What up 420Fam, I'm a long time reader of the forum but don't really post much as I'm more of an introvert and usually prefer to keep to myself. I have been growing for a long time but would still consider myself a "noob". Started off growing in a PC case ages ago when extreme stealth was still required lol Thankfully things have changed and now I'm able to grow out of a tent. Not the biggest tent, actually its meant for germination (Mammoth Prop 90) but its what I have and its doing the job currently. Currently vegging indoors and flowering outdoors. I am in the market for a new tent if I can find stock and at a decent enough price so I can do a full indoor run. My plants are already on the go and are at around the 22 day mark since going into the coco plugs. I don't usually grow autos as I have not had much success but the seeds were cheap enough to play with. They are exactly what the title states... Unknown autos so basically all I know is that they are autos but the strain is unknown. Details of Grow: Tent: Mammoth Prop90 (900 x 600 x 600) (Veg Only) Growing Medium: Freedom Farms Premium Classic Pots: 10L GrowBudz Fabric Pots Nutrients: Umya Pot Radix, Pot Grow, Pot Flora Additives: EM Pro-Soil, Seagro Seeds From: Groen Seeds Breeder: Unknown Strains: They shall be known as: Unknown Auto 1 (UA1) and Unknown Auto 2 (UA2) Lights: 1 x ModuGrow Bar @ 90w , 2 x DIY ModuGrow boards @ 20w each Light Cycle: 18/6 Right now lets get to what you all came here for... PICTURES!!! Day 1 - 2020/10/14 - Seeds sowed directly in coco peat plugs. No shot glass soak or paper towel method. Coco was soaked with EM Pro-Soil Microbes and dechlorinated water. Day 3 - 2020/10/17 - Seeds broke ground Day 4 - 2020/10/18 - Transplanted into the 10L pots Day 7 - 2020/10/21 Day 12 - 2020/10/26 - Was away from home, so missed a couple pics in-between Started getting some issues. Could be either the FF mix is too hot for them or the heat in the tent. Temp's were at around 27 - 30 degrees. Day 17 - 2020/10/31 Day 19 - 2020/11/02 - Plants seem to be taking of now UA1 in the front, UA2 at the back Day 21 - 2020/11/04 Please feel free to drop any comments or share any advice you may have. Thanks for dropping by peeps!!!1 point

Giving that lady some rough knuckles eh? yeah, supercropping most definitely the best way to even out the canopy without moving the pot out of your lights "sweet spot"1 point

LMAO, glad to see im not the only one who's employed a personal bodyguard for their ladies Has it got a name? lol - here's mine: introducing "Dik Frik", heard him while looking for males & found him climbing up a plant, he stayed in this pose for a good minute, if i had any mantises in the garden they probably eaten by now1 point

Whatever it is should be included in this PDF (Kudos to the member on the Cpt clone group for sharing this) Its exceptionally detailed with regards to pests & fungus/molds/mildews etc looks like rust spot/rust fungus - its commonly brown but can be yellow too What's_Wrong_with_My_Marijuana_Plant_(1).pdf1 point

A wetting agent is something you mix with a solution which will be sprayed onto the plants. So something you'd typically mix with pyrol for instance, the wetting agent helps spread the solution when its sprayed on the plant and prevents it from forming drops and rolling off the plant. It helps it to stick to the plant basically. It helps spread the liquid and prevents it from forming droplets and rolling off. If you have ever used a product like Wynn's C-Thru on your your windshield, it might make more sense. After using C-thru any water will form a drop and run off the windshield easily. This is the opposite effect you want when spraying your plants with some sort of foliar spray, so a spreading agent / wetting agent helps prevent this from occuring.1 point

I haven't tossed the plants yet @PsyCLown, my mate says he'll take a chance trying to mend them. He's hellbent on saving the genetics, coz they are good ones to keep. I'm doing a proper clean over the weekend. Full tear down of everything. I have one of those hand pump sprayers, so i was checking i could mist the entire tent then zip up and hold the mister at the intake vent with the fans on to get the H202 everywhere. Wipe down and repeat. Just worried about the H202 potentially eating on my LED's. I could remove the lights and spray that down with ISO... Also, my tent vents directly out of a window, so the room should be safe... Would bleach kill the spores? I know H202 will.1 point

Thanks bud. BUO advertise their Super Hemp Soil to be used as a germination mix as well. I'll keep an eye on it anyway, since it is my first time using it.1 point

Nice bru, I would just double check that soil isn't maybe too hot for germinating in.1 point

Been a long reveg, but planted the girls up into 15l. Slurricane, blunicorn, spumoni and chocolate gelato. 1-2 weeks veg to settle, then I'll flip. I had to do a lot of cleaning up as the reveg girls were way too bushy. The chocolate gelato pollen donor female is already in flower.1 point

I agree with @CreX Coppersoap is great for PM but should not be used when the plants are in flower - you can then make use of Sulphur (not burning, but get one which you can spray). Wetting agent is always useful too. Pyrol is great for pests and I see you already have that. Hydrogen Peroxide and/or bleach (jik, or whatever) to clean and sterilize the tent and equipment. It would be best to clean the fans and everything but in reality it's going to be near impossible to do a thorough clean and get everywhere. You can also consider a disinfectant fogger, have all equipment on and running (so the fan moves) and set off the fogger inside the tent. Keep in mind the PM spores have likely been pushed to the outside of the tent via your extraction fan. So perhaps set it off in the room which contains your tent and ensure a good portion gets inside the tent too. This might be easier than using a cloth with bleach or H2O2. How well it works in comparison, I am not actually sure... but in my mind it makes sense that it would work well. lol Pitty you have chucked the plants already, I was going to suggest coppersoap and/or some sulphur - should get rid of the PM and possibly even those weird spots you had.1 point

i feel a need to mention it to everyone when i see it. i lost some amazing genetics because i thought i was doing them a favour by increasing the humidity locally to the little plant by using a dome thing alas, i lost her, and now she is gone forever. i dont want that hardship to be experienced by any of my growmies1 point

Hopefully they've been in flower for a week or two otherwise your smoke may not be ready in time as it needs to mature and dry...a bit of a cure would be nice too. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk1 point

30 Days From Seed Got the girls repotted and transplanted into 20L fabric pots. The tent is looking much more occupied now with 12 plants! Feels just like it should. I will be using three 240W Quantum Board LEDs, one for every four plants. It worked really well in the last grow so how about we just triple it Starting off the QBs at ~120W each in the current veg stage and I like keeping them around 40cm from canopy. I find this is the sweet spot, but I always watch the plants for stress and try increasing power as we work towards the flowering stage. I am so much more at ease with the full LED setup over the HID bulbs. It's so much less "stuff" and looks super neat. I will consider myself a full convert after the success of this grow; I haven't just yet thrown out the cool tubes and ballasts1 point

These are done. Onto the next one. Most of the current grow i am running again so everybody has seen it before. Will post again on the new genetics.1 point

This run is now complete. Got 5 x 10 packs of each cross to distribute as testers. Only one pack per tester. They will also be available online shortly. The 4 that were taken through are Chocolate Gelato F2 Choc Gelato x Slurricane Choc Gelato x Blunicorn Choc Gelato x Ghost Train Haze #1 *No tester packs available anymore1 point

Sadly I wouldn't even be done with the testing phase(starting in November) of my new crosses by then. Even my choco NL f5 run is only half way. Only the female has been selected. I'm yet to select my male, and that's only happening in January or February. For an indoor growoff next year around March, I could definately provide seeds.1 point

Hi @zolrooker, I tend to agree with @Bakstein420. Maybe first do the math and compare the costs for your monthly weed consumption against what your grow will cost in a month. If you would spend twice as much on weed from a dealer compared to just grow your own I'd say it's worth thinking about growing your own. In case you should decide on growing your own I would suggest to work with autoflowers as loadshedding isn't going to mess with their light cycles too much. One question remains. What would happen if the unhappy party will find out about your project?1 point

No compromise unfortunately bro. Ive tried, trust me lol, hence my only option of renting out another place. Only other option i have besides that tbh is to give someone my equipment, let them grow for me at their place and then split harvest 50-501 point

This was how spider plant came out, Takes time to train them though into this. Added, I take a long time to grow them, so dont go on time, we all grow different and that wouldn't be a tell at all. I topped the plant again after pulling it back above, and ended with more than 50 main cola or ends when done.1 point

Have been giving this some thought, how about the prizes go to "best diaries", which the judges can deliberate over scrutinize plants etc, but in saying 420sa is looking for the best diary, gives the incentive for growers to be op it. BTW well done on the previous competitions guys, thought it was pretty cool regardless, and paving the way for SA CannaCulture1 point

Hmm, 5 grows is quite a substantial amount of time. An average grow would take around 4 to 5 months from seed to harvest, perhaps even a little longer depending on the strains. That is someone who has been growing for around 2 years back to back, provided they only have a single grow going on at a time. If you have multiple grows going on at one, it does reduce the amount of time quite a bit though. If you're thinking of having the grow off as a way to show case some of the best growers, this is a good way to ensure that is the case however majority of people who have been growing since it has been "legal" are most likely not going to have 5 grows just yet. Depending on when the grow off is meant to start and how many people end up legible for it - perhaps consider reducing the number of grows for the first grow off or two? If there are only 5 people in the comp for instance, not as much fun if there were a few more competitors. Also as you said not as much appeal for companies to sponsor the grow off.1 point

Heya! So as the title states, this is just another first grow. I'm sure you've all seen many of them. Lets start with some equipment and what I'll be growing and take it from there, obviously open to suggestions as I'm still learning. I don't have a grow tent unfortunately, growing in a storage room of sorts which I've painted flat white. Grow area is approx 110cm x 90cm at a push. I have 4x 288 Quantum Boards in 3000k setup in here, currently running 2 off an ELG-240-54A while I wait for my HLG-480-54A. No extraction or air intake at the moment. Trying to seal up and prevent light leaks and shall be trying to complete this tomorrow. Currently lights are off at night to prevent light leak issues. I have my humidity dome in here too and have a heating pad underneath it as it's very cold. I have added a heater to the grow area today and it seems to be making a decent difference in terms of temps, increased from 17C to 23C. I have a fan inside to circulate the air. RH is on the low side at 36-40% RH so might look at adding my humidifier into the area, not sure how to control the RH with it just yet as I don't have any electronics to assist at the moment. I'm using Freedom Farms soil, Biobizz nutes (fish mix & bloom) & have a mixture of pots but plan on using 20L fabric pots in the end. Currently have 2 bagseed seedlings in there with 13 seeds germinating as per the below: 3x Chocolope (Totemic Genetics) 3x Bruce Banner 3 (Dark Star Genetics) 3x Grandpa Banner (Dark Star Genetics) 3x Sticky Icky (Dark Star Genetics) 1x CBD Critical Mass (Seedsman) All are regular seeds except for the CBD strain which is feminised. I'm hoping not all 12 seeds are female as I don't have space, however I'd like at least 1 female from each. One of my bag seed seedlings might not make it, still busy monitoring it. Before my lights arrived I had to put them outside for some natural sun and my cat seems to really like the FF soil and dug up the seedling, twice. Prior to that she dug up my 3rd seedling and peed in that pot, the seedling died... Not sure if I can just flush the soil with water and reuse it? The stem of the dug up seedling is very thin in one area but still seems to be alive so hopefully it pulls through. Not much in terms of pics at the moment as I've been busy putting my room together and am still busy with that. Although here are the seeds in some rapid rooters and in the humidity dome. I broke off a piece of the rapid rooter and put it inside the hole to try keep the seeds dark and covered. The seeds were soaked for around 22 hours before being placed into the rapid rooters with the exception of the cbd strain which was soaked for closer to 28 hours and was only put into the rapid rooter today. So it's a day behind the rest. Really hoping the seeds germinate in the rapid rooters without issues. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk1 point

https://www.darkhorsegenetics.com Just one breeder I know of who have really good regular seeds... Although I think Worlds Strongest Strains also does regulars, I'd look into their stuff too. Otherwise you can always reverse a female with STS to get pollen from her and then breed and create feminized seeds. Regarding nutrients, BioBizz isn't terribly priced for organic, otherwise Hortimix is cheap.1 point

Day 120 / Day 68 of Flower (just over midway through week 9 of flower) These are not all 8 / 9 week strains. In fact none are considering none are ready. It seems as if the GSC and Chocolope will be taking longer to ripen, the CBD Critical Mass I am unsure of but has a hectic fade going already. I'd rather wait a bit longer as I want to make sure I get a decent amount of CBD from it. I will check the trichomes this Friday evening if I get a chance, otherwise on Saturday and hopefully I can at least chop one or two of the plants. I had a whoopsie last weekend where I bent the one branch on the Tropicana, so I decided to cut it and dry it. It's busy curing at the moment. A few pics of the ladies, not the best but at least you get an idea on how things are progressing.1 point

Some stinky vigorous males in the mix would also be nice to find... just to collect some pollen and have a try at making a few personal crosses. Would be fun growing them out.1 point

Well I have about 10 strains going atm namely Gorilla Girl, Sweet Orange Cookies, GSC, Wedding Cake, Granddaddy Confidential, Purple Diesel Daze, Mandarins Cookie Sherbet, White Widow, Grape Kush, Lemon OG and some 1to1 CBD strains. I got 2 x 3000W Flower rooms running on a flip flop system. I grow in coco and atm I'm using Floracoco nutes but I'm trying some powder blends on a few plants this run. All my strains are from feminised seeds. Going forward I only plan on buying regular seeds preferably F1's so that I have clean genetics to sift. Happy growing everyone. Looking forward to hearing what you guys are doing in your gardens1 point
