Hey Candyman, sorry to see you are having problems with our seeds. We will definitely replace your beans or give you a refund. I'll DM you next. This is the first we have heard of germination issues this season and we appreciate any feedback we get. We have run germination tests recently on Gardeners Delight and had 28/30 pop successfully and are now healthy plants growing at a rapid rate. I have forwarded your post to Stu (our genetics dude) and will update you as soon as I have his feedback as to what could have gone wrong. Our seeds are from the 2019/20 grow season, harvested in March this year. For reference, the attached images below show our latest test grow. The seeds were planted 0.5-1cm below soil and germinated directly in the coir pots, without a pre-soak as the pots sitting in water keep them moist enough. First signs of them popping was after 4 days. We prefer this method as we don't have to worry about damage during transplant and the tap root gets a chance to properly take hold. We then put the coir pot and seedling directly in the soil. This method has worked a treat. I will be running tests next week using the method you used. Sorry for any inconvenience and disappointment, hopefully we can make up for it. iRiE Bob5 points

If your beans don't pop after 48 hours... they are not the freshest seeds. Also check how you store your own seeds. Vacuum container, fridge.. you can also freeze them gentle. Seeds from a seed bank run a bit with a "protection", at least the good ones do it. I buy 10 and have 1-2 duds.. I accept it in general. But if I have more fails.. I usually let them know and the only response you should get is: we send the replacement seeds to the same address? If you buy seeds, don't feel shy to tell them, if the seeds are not doing as they should. I had a bad batch once from Nirvana (marijuanaseeds.co.za) and they replaced me the full amount seeds I bought and send to me the same day I wrote the complain. The time you lost will always be the annoying part.4 points

@Bakstein420 Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention That makes us happy. We will do whatever we can to make this work. I have just been chatting to Stu and we will be running dual tests next week using your method. Different outdoor growing environments, random 20 seeds from the mix, and will report back on the success rate. I suspect there are a host of reasons why your success rate was so low, and hopefully we can work out what went wrong. Besides my tests, Stu has had a 100% germination rate on his tests - sadly no pics. The main reason why we do it the way we do, is too many variables and potential issues relating to the transplant. For germination we have had great success using just coco coir as the medium or Freedom Farms Classic soil. Our most recent tests (images in previous comment) use Just Cannabis mix and we are very happy with the results. Germination in coco coir without any nutrients (not hot) actually works a treat. The seeds seem to have enough nutrients to keep it going for the first couple of weeks. After the first week we pot the seedling and coir pot into the richer mix, their final destination which in our case are mostly black 20 litre plastic bags. The roots shoot through the coir pots in no time. We really do appreciate feedback, so thanks! iRiE Bob3 points

Okay I see what you are saying. This applies to the list of disease cautioned amendments, to name some, highly controversial bat guano, all guano’s for that matter. Bone meal is another one, obviously due to our “super sustainable” approach of supporting life here on earth. Even the bones are fucked. So these are some of the organic but potentially dangerous substances, all valid points ☝ People are also against using the same ingredients in their soils because of disease etc, so I definitely see your argument. It’s a concern and rightly so. I personally use a very simply tea recipe, and alters ever so slightly throughout the phases of growth. I amend my soil, So I rely on my teas to act as the catalyst to effectively release the much needed nutritional potential with in. An example of my flowering tea, 5l concentrate. Will bubble 1 level tbs molasses bubble for 24h, then add a 1tsp of microbes (haven't looked at the label because @SkunkPharm gave it to me.) SOCK INGREDIENTS - 1 tsp Alfa Alfa meal, 1 tsp kelp meal, 1/2 cup blended malted barley... bubble for 24 hours more and end it off with 1/4 tsp of my Humic/fulvic/kelp micronized blend (premixed in 1/2 L of water) below - this is bundling up 100s of the micro nutrients and teaming it up with the super chelator properties of the Humic and fulvic acids, these are known as the intermediate chelators, the missing link for many nutrient uptake problems. I don’t plan on bubbling guano anytime soon.2 points

Thank you so much Bob. I replied to your DM. Like I said, I'm still very much excited to get some Gardener's Delight going, so I'm going to try germinating directly in coir pots and see how that turns out.2 points

I started learning about AACT mainly from this guy who made this book who is a weed grower that started contributing knowledge on Overgrow and ICmag forums in the early 2000s. And I have some experience in making and testing over the years. I found that when making AACT you want to mainly make food that the fungus and bacteria in your medium can consume live or dead. I don't care too much about AACT giving fungal benefits to my soil, I can get the fungal component by using mushroom compost and other organic ammendments that fungus likes to eat. In AACT you wont be able to multiply fungal count very easily - only grow existing count to larger mass... it just seems way better for multiplying bacteria. Short brew seems way better than extended brew. Waiting for a large amount of foam seems like bro science and I'm happy with a thin film of activity. I like to inoculate with worm castings in a stocking. Using indigenous microbes cultured from a place in the garden or a forest floor seems more risky to me so I stick with worm castings. I add a tiny bit of black strap molasses or sometimes Biobizz grow product which is basically fermented sugar beets and molasses. Benefits include competing for space on the plant surfaces when you foliar spray, edging out pathogens like powdery mildew. It also accelerates the speed at which the microbes break down the organic material into chelates that the roots can uptake. Key tips: Don't brew for too long, pH test your brew at beginning and don't let it rise too much before you use it. Ambient temperatures can speed up the process.2 points

07 November If all goes to plan, it's about two weeks before I will transplant the seedlings to their fabrics pots outside. I decided to mix the soil today and let it sit for the period leading up to transplant. I used a 150l rough tote for mixing everything. The mix consisted of 1 x 5kg coco coir brick, 90dm outdoor potting soil, roughly 15dm vermicastings and 15dm compost from my own bins. I eyeballed the vermiculite and topped it off with some Bio Ocean pellets and about half a cup bone meal. The total water used to hydrate the coco coir was 60l of tap water, to which I added 1000mg of ascorbic acid for chlorine and chloramine removal and let it sit for a while. Ph was tested to be in neutral range Update on the seeds: The first seed that popped on the 5th and got transferred to germination mix, is still underground. I usually plant them very shallow with taproot down and only the slightest of soil covering. I would have expected to see some action above the ground by today. 2 Other seeds also popped and have the taproot peeking out, but I'm going to hang back maybe a day with them before putting them in the soil. They seem to be a bit slower to respond than what I'm used to. Still amazes me to see how much water a single 5kg coco coir brick can absorb. This is 1 brick and 60l of water.2 points

they do that by them self.. have no influence on it. If you want fast plants, look for 8 weeks time seed to harvest.. or just trust me and get some Fastbuds Gelatos.. they will also give you a mouthgasm and hit like a donkey The Gorillas grow fine, I expect not less than 70g per plant.2 points

I stick a bit in here with the 8 plant limit.. not sure if Ruderalis actually count ^^ I make me some more seeds and pollen as I started my Swazi Gold Auto Project. I will make a diary of that.. got a bit shifted as I need the 12/12 tent for the upcoming CBDs for a friend with nasty epilepsy. She wants to check if the CW's help her and she can get off her medication. What else I have in my stable are 2 FastBuds strains.. Gelato and Pineapple Express. The Pineapple seems to be on a rush and I am doing something right with those ones. Gelato is strangely smaller this grow. Both are Week 5 Day 1. Gelato Pineapple Express Ruderalis and the CW's are just out of the ground.1 point

Here is another usefull piece of info for anyone who cares isolating and cultivating certain strains of microbes. Kombucha contains 2 strains of nitrogen fixing bacteria. One of them is a novel strain and only found in kombucha. I have seen one or two kombucha based products for plants on the internet, but they are certainly a novelty. I feel there is rich untapped potential in kombucha for foliar application purposes.1 point

You are one hundred percent on the money with the worm casting. I use worm casting initially, and move to more simple ingredients towards the end, the barley contains 52 difference strains of fungus, all beneficial and all carrying zinc finger transcriptions that come with barley inheritance benefits1 point

Bud, that looks like an awesome tea. I can understand why you are having good results with such recipes. An important missing ingredient in your recipe is the raw compost. That specifically is the part that gets me, but your recipe looks solid and controlled. You should not get bad brews if you keep to hygienic principles, but my eyeballs are falling out seeing what some people on the internet are bubbling up, and recommending others do so as well.1 point

Na, I stopped doing anything beside LST. We did a few tests with all different techniques.. the ones we left alone, won in yield. Friend holds our grow record, done nothing at all beside feeding, pulled 201g from one amnesia haze auto. I stand at 136g from my biggest auto so far. Bit behind ^^ but I hover around 2-2.5g per watt. Also had a quick read.. I still have the smoke result to type The weed.. the left overs ^^ .. now curing since August. The smoke is very smooth and the taste hard to describe. Nothing extreme, nothing boring, you enjoy every puff of it. The over all effect is more on the giggly side and the first part is more on the energizer side.. like a sativa should be. If you finish the joint and tell yourself, wow, that was a nice puff, I could go with another one. The next you might experience is lifting your head from the bed, check the clock and say UPSSS... you lost some hours. Was no late harvest, bit before, so the weed can kick you rather hard. I will get me some more seeds.. could very easy happen, that I want to stock up, once my last Jar is empty. A very giggly weed. To the strain.. light canape variation, rest, I couldn't really taste a huge difference between plants. They ended a bit all the same, what is nice.. you always get what you plant. So I give it a Thumps Up If you look for a Sativa kick with the possibility to change it in a insomnia cure, the Royal Gorilla from Royal Queen Seeds is for you I know.. I just woke up1 point

13 November 2020 I must admit I am a little disappointed by the DG Gardener's Delight seeds. So far, they fail to bring any delight... Of the 5/6 seeds that have germinated, the seed that popped first, rotted in the soil. Only two have made it above ground, while I'm still waiting for two more that are in the soil to show some action above the ground. I though about @Bakstein420 mentioning above about the hemp soil mix maybe being a bit too hot, so I took 8 seeds from my selection of Swazi hybrid bagseed and did exactly with them as I did with the DG Gardeners Delight. All 8 swazi seeds germinated within 48 hours on wet paper towel. They were transferred to cups with super hemp soil mix and by the next day all of them were showing some action above the ground. They look healthy and as expected at this point, so unless my bagseed can handle hot soil much better that the DG GD seeds, I don't see any issues with the soil mix I'm using. I wonder how old the seed from DG is? Would be nice if breeders were to date their seeds for the market... I have 2 DG Diesoline seeds on paper towel currently waiting to pop, so that I can replace the empty spots I have. It's been 48 hours, no luck yet. This was the 2nd seed to pop and first to show above the ground on the 10th. Numbered DG-GD #2 4th seed to pop, 2nd to show above the ground. Numbered DG-GD #4 The Swazi-Hybrid from bagseed, in the same soil to test germination and soil condition. 100% Success (8/8).1 point

Hi guys, Just a quick update. So the Girl scout cookies seems to be catching up now, while the Super Lemon Haze seems to be doing very well. On a sad note one of the Girl scout cookies didn't make it. she just wouldn't grow and finally dried out and died. (Image one the SLH and image two is of the GSC) On that note, I decided to get another batch of seeds and on the recommendation of @Bakstein420 I went with sacred seeds. Thank you @Bakstein420! @Sacred Seeds, The service I got from Merlin and the team at sacred seeds was top class. I am very happy with the service and will reuse them again in the future. (PS: Thanks for all the freebies) I ordered some Durban poison as I really wanted a Sativa plant, this is a normal photo strain but I also ordered some autos as well. I will maybe start a grow diary for those seeds. Super excited by the DP, can't wait! Happy weekend everyone!1 point

Massive defoliation pretty often due to the constricted space. Budrot seems to have been mostly avoided this time around. Deficiencies coming through on the plant on the left, ..It's taken ages to start properly flowering. Cheap seeds, somebody has to buy them Hey it's what I can afford, but love them all regardless. Growing is such massive therapy for me.1 point

I "Mendel"ed the last time in Gymnasium. But genetics were my chosen special.. so lets quickly see if I have to read up. The Photo gene is dominant and the Auto gene is recessive. That is my main assumption. The Photo can be PP / Pp / pP The auto must be pp The unknown figure is the F1 Photo mother, as it can have 3 possibilities. If the mother is PP, it will add one generation to the procedure, if she is Pp or pP, I would get a 100% auto with F3 generation. Photo mother is PP The result (F2) of the crossing with the Auto would always result in a Pp or pP combination. And both would have Photo grow habits. Easy to figure out with 24/0 light. Those F2 would need another crossing with Ruderalis and the result would be three options. Pp, pP and pp in the F3. Separation with 24/0 and crossing the most Sativa looking male and female from the F3 would result in pp only.. and lottery tells, if I selected crap or got somewhere. If the mother is already Pp/pP (not sure how valid that option is) I get a pure auto with F3. Or do I make a critical mistake somewhere?1 point

@Dank I am not really in a rush and never made a auto.. I did some breeding years ago with Jack Herer and Pineapple Express. My goal is rather simple.. first, make a auto ^^ second, make the auto look as much as the original photo. The first batch f3 should be pure.. then I check if I like, if yes, I hand out some seeds to the board members.. beginner to gurus.. and with that feedback I decide, if I try harder or go to the Malawi. Swazi isn't a top terp weed, one of the reasons to start with it i would rate it as easier to get something similar. Right now just curious ^^ and bored My infant heart still hopes the government gets all legalized and I can open a coffee shop Then I would go a bit more bonkus rent storage facility, order a Moat ^^ and run 40 strains at the same time, employee 20 people not sure that is enough. I enjoy my legal growing very much Right now.. I test and try all the strains I ignored, and so much new coming out each year. When I have a better overview of what is going on out there, I am rather sure, I will go back to photos and pheno hunt my top 5. My seed order still in JoBurg. Went checking with Post Office.. Naa, backlog, sorry! As long not confiscated, all good first 11 strains to test. Never had Strawberry Pie, or Lemon Pie, or Orange Sherbet,... very long list.. I might be missing out hehehe so I first wanna get a better overview, then breed a bit more serious. Might come back to your Blueberry ^^ I enjoyed those very much, was also a first.1 point

Numbers always nice to have. Total flower material 397g, close shave dressed buds 302g... full jar for the press on dressing material Veg light 180 watt, Flower 269 watt Mars 144 Fan 80 watts... i count the 6 inch inliner.. those plants got a lot of air Light distance measured 250 mmol for germination, 500 veg, 1000 flower Plant was set as 8 to 10 weeks. I harvested end week 11 3 and end 12 the rest. Not 50/50 yet Test smoke was smooth and already tasty.. the usual fresh weed aftertaste. Soil: FF green bag 50% : 50% home made compost / Fertilizers: BioBizz (Root Juice, Fish Mix, Grow, Bloom, TopMax) Feeding table Week 1 ( starting timer when seeds hit the water inside the glass) 4ml root juice per liter Week 2 2ml Fish Mix per liter Week 3 3ml Fish Mix per liter Week 4 3ml Fish Mix or Grow in rotation, 2ml Bloom per liter Week 5 3ml Fish Mix or Grow, 3ml Bloom per liter Week 6 had yellow tips starting, reduced to 3ml grow, 2ml bloom per liter for one feed, next feed 4ml grow, 3ml bloom, 1ml TopMax (fish is heavy on N, reduced that) Week 7 4ml fish mix or grow(still rotating both), 4ml bloom, 2ml TopMax Week 8 4ml fish or grow, 4ml bloom, 3ml top max Week 9 4ml fish or grow, 4ml bloom, 4ml topmax (i stick to 4/4/4 til flush usually) Week 10 4ml fish or grow in rotation, 4ml bloom, 4ml topmax Week 11 4/4/4.. sorry lazy (the three small ones went water, and end week 11 dark, left the tent) Week 12 flush, pure water as demanded for 5 days, then dark for 2, cut, trimm leaves, hang to dry. Please do not use this feeding table as a beginner!!! As the plants were set by the breeder to 8 to 10 weeks, they could be ready in 8 weeks. I used my 8 week feeding table... it really takes no prisoner and at one stage i usually have to adapt to not run into trouble. But i am a bit old school, my brain works after the simple logic, the more i stuff into a turkey, the fatter it gets... those Gorillas handled the nuts rather well. The plants get to big for SOG (to much time waste growing), even they form a even canape.. to much waste of the lower plant. Autos dont form bud, if there is no light on the bud. So from the 100cm tall plant, 25cm are a bit of a waste to grow. Solution, more light, less cramped space. Should harvest better. With the 8 plants i didnt even reach 50g average. I expected 75cm plants.. my bad, one reached 120. Rest about same, the mentioned 100cm. First time is always a bit guessing, how big they get. And when the breeder say... 120 to 150 tall... i reached 75cm and still loved my harvest. Not as good as those guys but who cares if you love the result of the smoke. The measured light is a huge difference... i get 30 to 40% taller plants with the right mmol amount for each stage, have to get used to it. What would i change 6 plants in a 1.2x0.6 next time, to get 2 fans in, even 4 might do. Lower part should get more light and compensate quite a bit. Would LST the branches and cut the lowest 2 double nodes. I see those Royal Gorillas give 100g a plant. As you saw on the leaf structure, very very sativa heavy auto. So for not doing much, acceptable result. Nothing great, nothing bad. The weed, i think i will enjoy very much. I put a smoke test in a few weeks to finish this report. I add something about the weed. Royal Gorilla Automatic by Royal Queen Seeds It is a cross of Royal Gorilla and Royal Cookie... plus a cup winner. When i open a jar, you just know, that is some tasty s..t if you are into sativas, give it a go.1 point

Will have to so something in the near future to change your mind StickyMo. I know one person out here who is more than qualified to tackle the complexity of producing hybrids with stable genetics, and has zero interest in money. Genetic manipulation appears to be difficult and complex to get just right, relying on much trial and error. Thanks to Watson & Crick (and a little 'acid') the structure of DNA emerged, but only fairly recently with the emergence of 'epigenetics', has the field of genetics started growing again, after a long period of stagnation. New knowledge removes the complexity that results from the lack of knowledge. I believe we can have a really great and significant Seed Bank right here in South Africa, one that will rival the best Seed Banks in the world, and the time to start is right now. Once verified I will be happy to share my knowledge - and knowledge should be Universally free.1 point
